Just took a walking tour in Barcelona and saw the Hebrew-engraved bricks that were used to build the palace of the viceroy of Catalonia after Barcelona's Jewish Quarter was attacked, thousands of Jews were murdered, and the bricks that made up a Jewish cemetery were stolen to use in this palace. These bricks are now surrounded by modern-day graffiti that says "fuck Israel" (in English) and "boicot Israel."

I'm not writing this as a defense of Israel's current military actions. This is just a simple snapshot of why I can't ever feel the endless anti-Israel barrage coming from Europe is done in good faith, and why we should self-reflect on our own obsession with Israel and learn about how our ancestors' history intermingles with antisemitism. To imagine that we get to be free from these prejudices and act in a totally unbiased way when we talk about Israel is madness.

i've gotten a lot of nasty dms about mark p and how some of you claim hes being a predator for inviting me to a convention, i'd like to say im not the only fan hes ever invited over to a con as a special guest, hes done this several times and its never been a creepy thing before and usually its just been a bunch of fans sharing a pizza and conversing about the show.

what bothers me is that if this was jensen or misha or even jared a lot of people wouldn't be saying hurtful things, i spent 3 hours of my time trying to understand his views, as an autistic muslim i found his apology satisfactory and redeeming, not only did his only issue be wording things (which he admitted to being wring in) but he also spent 3 hours civilly debating when he could have just ignored my callout.

hes never been involved in anything predatory in any form, i might not be his no.1 fan or whatever (i was literally bullying him for his career and hairline just yesterday) but i find it a bit dodgy how a lot of people came on board to try and find something negative out of it.

ofc i do not mind the sweet sweet kind people in my inbox/dms/replies telling me to stay safe! as i appreciate those people beyond words, this is targeted at trolls who haven't gone through the thread from last night and made me highly uncomfortable and sick in dms.

it was clear those people werent there for my safety or others safety, they merely saw this as an opportunity to shit on someone they've never challenged.

not here to convince you to like mark p, just saying that as an autistic/muslim i found his apology to me sincere. thats all. also lets not paint everyone into a villain. im still not exactly fan no1 but i appreciate the fact he explained and admitted he WAS wrong.

ive basically almost had a meltdown because of one person who was just so rude, which just shows that yous dont care about ableism unless its soemthing u can use against someone (THIS IS ONLY @ THE PEOPLE WHO LEFT ME IMMENSELY RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS THINGS!! i love everyone else here)
