Demeter isn't the type to ask for comfort (for a variety of reasons), and Alonzo is rarely the first to offer comfort without being explicitly prompted to (or asked for it), but I feel like he always knows when Demeter's feeling off. Call it intuition or a lengthy crash course - whatever it is, he knows.

Maybe he doesn't know exactly what's going on, or how to deal with it - maybe she doesn't tell him (until she's ready) - but he will wordlessly sit on his haunches and open up his arms to accept her if he looks up from whatever he's doing and notices she has that *look* on her face. And she will take it, just as silently. Any time, any place, the spot is Demeter's. He won't even ask "What's the matter?" anymore; she'll tell him when she's ready and he's never been good with words anyway. For now, he'll just hold her carefully, lick her ears, that spot on her throat where her collar covers, so she knows she's safe with him.

Brotp: Him and Munkustrap actually! I've seen a couple of productions where they're around each other a lot and I just think that Misto kind of looks up to Munk a bit and they have this dynamic going where Munk feels a little protective over Misto, especially when Misto and Tugger start fooling around with each other because Munk doesn't want to see Misto hurt (because of Tugger's reputation) but after seeing how good Tugger treats Misto and vice versa, he gets less protective. And eventually when Misto and Munk get on more equal ground, they are just best friends. Who both like to tease Tugger.

Notp: I don't want to sound like a little shit but Misto with literally anyone that isn't Tugger.

A random headcanon: Oh gosh I have so many, I love this character so much. Not a HC, this is just facts, but he's short. He's one of the best dancers of the tribe but doesn't flaunt it unless given the spotlight. He's shy in general but once he's on stage its like all that shyness disappears instantly. He's on to perform, he's here to do a show and do it good. He's also a bit of a flirt, but only to Tugger. Sometimes Tugger will confide in either Alonzo or Plato the things Misto has said to him and they CANNOT fathom it. They just think Tugger is making shit up, but he's not. Misto can be quite lewd if given the opportunity and how comfortable he is with the other cat. He's very tactile. His love language is gentle touches, not always sexual but with his friends its putting a hand on their shoulder, wrapping them in a one armed hug, putting his hand on the small of their backs to let them know he's behind them, that kind of stuff.

General opinion: Needless to say, he's my favorite character. I adore him. In every production I've seen my eyes always zero in on Misto. I relate to Misto the most, and him being short makes me feel validated in my own shortness. Also. His butt.

DAY 2 - SOFT

The idea of ​​how Alonzo and Tugger's friendship outgrew warm romantic feelings for each other in Soft AU

And after Tuggi persuaded that everything would be fucked up, there are no such hopaks (and he would have protected him) that Tweedledum's love can also be tried. Hi, now I want to talk a little about my fan kids of Altugger.

Taytes and Agatha they love both their parents equally, this is so on the note.

But in character, for example, Taytes is more like Tugger. Again, I'm talking about soft AU, She loves to go to concerts of her dad's rock band (Triggers :)), although often she only hangs out behind the scenes. She is more open to communication and a tactile cat. Sometimes she like little pain in the ass, it is a cat full of love for everything and it is very difficult to disappoint her.

Active, cheerful goof Taytes.

Agatha is a quieter, shy and fearful girl.She doesn't like loud noises so she doesn't share the same interest in hanging out as Taytes and Tugger. Can sometimes fool around, but no more. Often composes Alonzo's company in any routine activities. (By the way, she also has a toy bunny named Belushka, this bunny also has its own little story about how she got it) She, like Taytes, is friends with many kittens, but more often she loves to be alone with herself, and to come up with all sorts of fantastic stories.

Demeter, Cassandra, Socrates, Plato, and Alonzo are all Jellicle protectors.

Cass and Tugger have a thing going, but no one’s entirely sure what it is...

Tantomile is Munkustrap’s little sister~! She keep an eye on Syllabub and Jellylorum

And Munkustrap keeps an eye on all three of them.

Gus the Theater Cat was who found Mr. Mistoffelees as a kitten and brought him to the Jellicle. 

Alonzo, Plato, and Socrates are all brothers, and they share a mother with Rum Tum Tugger. 

Now for some specific cats~! Starting with Jennyanydots

Jennyanydots’ kitchen is a safe haven to most Jellicles. 

Her owns are aware that the “street cats” like hanging out around their house, so sometimes they bring out food to them. 

They’re very used to seeing Munkustrap and Mr. Mistoffelees around especially

Jenny loves picking on the four siblings, but she focuses most of her jokes and teasings on Tugger. 

They’re able to handle themselves tho, and Jenny knows better than to push too far.

She one time insulted poor Alonzo so bad that he refused to go to her house for a week. She went to him herself to apologize

Kittens love hanging out around Jenny’s house.

If Munkustrap is everyone’s dad or older brother, Jenny is everyone’s Mom or older sister

Meows a lot. All different sorts of meows.

Basically Victoria has a bunch of parents.

She’s fine with this.

Tonight We Drink to New Life

On Sunday, January 6, 2019, esteemed actor Regina King echoed the sentiment of her character, Sharon Rivers, when she issued an oral call to arms to her fellow movie and television makers to produce media with half the sky, and drink to a new life, which includes women in active roles both behind and in front of the camera. What a last day of Christmas, always and forever day of the epiphany gift that would be to the world if that truly happens. Watching the trailer for “If Beale Street Could Talk” the film, which has so far garnered award nods from the New York Film Critics Circle, the National Board of Review and the Golden Globes, for Regina King in her role as the mother of Tish Rivers. The story follows the plot of the wrongfully incarcerated Alonzo “Fonny” Hunt, portrayed by actor Stephan James, an innocent who has been effectively framed by a white police officer for the rape of a Puerto Rican woman in the neighborhood of Harlem, while at the same time Hunt receives news that his childhood friend and soon-to-be-wife, the 19-year-old Tish Rivers, portrayed by actor KiKi Layne, is pregnant. To quote from the Atlantic article, writer Hannah Giorgis surmises, “If Beale Street Could Talk chronicles their gentle romance, as well as the strained fortitude of the Harlem families who support the two and help Tish prepare for the baby who arrives while Fonny is in carceral limbo.”

Watching a mini behind the scenes doc featuring members of the film's cast and crew recently published exclusively to the Huffington Post, can give one chills as it powerfully describes some of the significance relative to this adaptation of Baldwin's work with particular regard to the power of the love not just between the protagonists, but also the love of the black families of Harlem coming together in the face of this heinous crime to live by example the maxim “it takes a village” For instance director Barry Jenkins describes the power of intellectualizing current political circumstances through the characters narratives.

In dark and scary times such as these Baldwin's words which declare “Neither Love Nor Terror Make One Blind: Indifference Makes One Blind” echo a glimmer of the cultural significance of Regina King's call to action last Sunday. It has been 34 years since the collective consciousness birth of the Bechdel Test via comic artist Alison Bechdel who in 1985 published “Dykes to Watch Out For” in The Rule. Are men so indifferent to the insult of their inaction that communicates to women their stories are irrelevant? Why has it taken so many generations for the #metoo movement to galvanize political will for real change in action?

Film has historically been an elitist model masquerading as a popular artform. It very much mirrors the oligarchy masquerading as our democracy in action in this manner. As the top down traditional studio model continues to disintegrate, as movies continue to erode from their once singular dominance as the cultural face shaping mainstream public consciousness, it is an important contemporaneous moment to speak to why Madame King's platform invocation at the Golden Globes is so culturally significant.

If one is to research the Bechdel test at any length, the patriarchal biases for why the systemic problem persists are well documented . Finances, and the mistaken perception that female leads and narratives fail to drive sales are prolific examples. In the top 100 grossing films of 2012, women accounted for 4.1 percent of directors, 12.2 percent of writers and 20 percent of producers, according to a 2013 study by Stacy Smith, an associate professor at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. Of 4,475 speaking roles in those films, 28.4 percent were women. Smith says when more women were involved in the production of a film, it was more likely to have female cast members. In short, when one gender dominates the creative process for a picture, that comes out on the screen.

When one thinks about these examples combined with the preface of the disintegrating studio system, one can consider the argument that as the independent studio system emerges as the viable option for television and film as an industry, then these questions of a laissez-faire resolution to the Bechdel test issue will be met in a classical sense, as in supply meeting demand. To state this idea in another manner, in a similar way to how financiers predicted a complete crash in the disintegration of the hard copy book model of industry at the emergence of the online retail market; though diminished, people who love books will always really love books and those people want the tactile feel that an electronic copy can never deliver. Extend this to the concept of cinema as a community, though DVDs are dead as a doornail, people who really love cinema will always really love cinema and those people will go out to see the film in its theatrical release because they understand the larger scope of everything involved in the nexus of art and commerce involved in the production of a quality film like “If Beale Street Could Talk” A specific example herein could be the film “Springbreakers' put out by the studio A24 based in NYC. It is likely that this studio chose to produce this film aware of the intent to reach an audience which already had an awareness of the Bechdel test and would be the type of crowd that would like to entertain a conversation about a film that addresses the complexity of patriarchy and matriarchy because they follow the work of a director like Harmony Korine, an actor like James Franco, and/or a hottie artist like Selena Gomez, and thus much like an artist who puts work up in a new gallery exhibition and trusts that the right people will show up and that's it, there is an argument that in a similar way that studios who are conscious of the niche audiences they are creating artwork through film for will take a local economy laissez-faire approach to their individual solution to more female representation, both in front of and behind the camera.

4.) I don't think Alonzo is really one to articulate his feelings, at least not in the immediate aftermath of something distressing to him, but he's also not one to distract with other topics in the immediate aftermath, so when shit happens and he's had a bad day, Misto's usual course of action is to just sit with him (couch, bed, floor, anywhere) and like. Hold him/cuddle. this method is only effective when it's Misto or when it's Munk bc they're the ppl Alonzo feels most comfortable being so touchy Feely around, and it has to be a really bad day to keep him from immediately cuddling back.

Misto, on the other hand, finds full-on cuddling when he's had a bad day to feel claustrophobic. Sometimes he'll want to rip off the band-aid (or, plaster, I guess. They're bri'ish lol) and start ranting right away, but other times(most times) he just wants to stop thinking about it for the moment. Alonzo's still a tactile kinda guy tho, so the usual course of action for him is to switch on the TV, ask if it's ok for him to touch (it usually is) and then he'll gently massage Misto's neck+shoulders and listen as he talks, either abt the problem itself or about anything else, occasionally sneaking kisses from Misto's jaw to his cheek throughout. If Misto's not feeling a massage that day, Alonzo will sit next to him and either rub his back occasionally, or else have one of Misto's hands rest on one of his own.

5.) I think Misto was the first to have the most defined vision of an ideal future. Alonzo didn't (and still doesn't) like planning out hypotheticals beyond "we're still together and we're still happy," meanwhile Misto was already thinking abt grandkids and old age ghvvdgjb. In fairness to Misto, he was going to want kids regardless of who he ended up with, and, accompanying that, he was always going to fantasize abt living somewhere with enough open space for said kids to play and worry about breaking or dirtying things; they were just ideas misto had since he was old enough to recognize how a family structure was generally built + that one day he could start his own family. On the other hand, it's not that Alonzo didn't ever want or think abt having kids, so much as he didn't want to get his hopes up only for it to never end up happening. Once it became a near-certainty that they would have kids he was 100% on board; his outline for an ideal future stretched to include that their kids were raised well.

In my anthro and human aus Bustopher sets them up with an old family property a bit of a ways out from the city (Meaning Misto p effectively fulfills his main future family goals), while in my more feline aus it's more of a balancing act btwn Misto's humans' home, Alonzo's home in the Vicarage, and the Junkyard (It's a not insubstantial disappointment for Misto that they and the kittens have so much back-and-forth, but he gets used to it even if he doesn't love it).

Those 2 new cryptid babies Ichabod and Pooka were 1000% surprise kids for everyone but once they're there, neither misto nor alonzo could even believe they weren't planned-for ahead of time.

18.) It's cliche but Misto will absolutely come up from behind with a hug and a nuzzle into Alonzo's neck. If not that a passing peck on the cheek, nose, or lips. They're small reassurances in Alonzo's love language to make sure he picks up on that. They can have just had a fight, Misto still upset at Alonzo, and he will still be sure to kiss his forehead or at the very least squeeze his shoulder before storming out.

Alonzo's everyday gestures stem from knowing Misto's schedule (especially when it changes), and preparing things to make it go smoothly. Quietly starting the coffee so it's ready once Misto's up, organizing his things without digging too deep into Misto's personal belongings, prepping the table, leaving out reminders for sudden changes, and generally staying out of the way while Misto goes about his mornings. Misto can struggle with getting his days started, so he absolutely notices once the wheels are suddenly greased without him doing anything.

I also think they both hold/squeeze each other's hands out of habit. If one or both is excited/stressed/sad/annoyed/scared/mad/anything at all, there's going to be a moment of grabbing and squeezing hands.

My OS Misha is in this AU and later she will hang out with Tytes (though teaching her a little bad). I have an idea that she is an artist of the evening show on ferries (this girl drawn to the seas) or a singer in a jazz club.

The tugger was not born in St. Petersburg, oddly enough. And he got there only with the help of his rock band and the Internet.
