Tuggerstrap as Misto's dads AU

They are both embarrassing dads but Tugger is The Embarrassing Dad.™

Tugger came up with the “Magical Mister Mistoffelees” chorus melody when Misto was a baby, bc it made him smile and giggle and coo. It stayed and evolved into their own little cheer-up song.

(The didn’t realize their magical boy was actually for real-life Magical until he was a toddler, teleporting from his room into their arms for cuddles)

Tugger got in trouble with Misto’s Dance School bc when Misto was younger, Tugger was relentless in trying to watch his son’s classes.

To this day, Tugger is only allowed to attend recitals on the condition that Munk is there to keep him in the audience until the show is over. They’re one of the tiny handful of families that don’t have a backstage parent.

Tugger claps and yells and whoops and is generally overzealous at recitals. Munk has a steady grip of the camcorder in one hand and uses the other to keep his husband from running backstage.

After recitals, Tugger is obnoxiously, exuberantly congratulatory; scooping Misto up and spinning him around kind of exuberant. Munk follows behind with the bouquet.

(Tugger is a pro at hanging up Misto’s costumes, tho.)

Slight sidetrack time but it’s a Skimbly AU so Alonzoffelees is here.

Alonzo is one of the 2 other boys in Misto’s class (the other is Pounce Carbucketty bc Duh). Not sure who his parents are this time around but it doesn’t really matter bc they aren’t involved with him like. At all. Never factor into the story. He carpools to class and recitals with Victoria and her mums (Jellydots, baybeyy)

Munk eventually notices this kid doesn’t have anyone coming out to congratulate him after recitals, so he starts first setting aside a few flowers for him, then buying the kid his own bouquet. He also gets invited to post-recital dinner with the fam. Alonzo absolutely starts clinging onto this new parental figure in his life.

Alonzo and Misto go from classmates to friends to eventually lovers uwu

Tugger is a Protective Dad and gives Alonzo a Shovel Talk except Munk is right over his shoulder telling Alonzo it’s nbd, don’t worry, Tugger is more Growl than Scratch, etc

In general, Tugger and Misto were super close when Misto was little. Now that he’s growing up, though, Misto finds his dad kinda annoying and overbearing. He’s trying to push back and away, which of course just makes Tugger double down.

It cannot be overstated how much Tuggerstrap are Those Parents, though. They absolutely take every chance to brag about their boy.

(Munk will also brag about Alonzo, bc what started as a pity-gesture absolutely became a genuine paternal affection.)

Alonzo and Misto at the point of the show are basically married. Whether or not they officially are is inconsequential, they may as well be; he calls Munk “Dad,” he and Misto live together; they’re married.

Alonzo still doesn’t really have Tugger’s approval though. Like Tugger lets his son pick his relationships, he’s not trying to break them up, but he’s also not exactly trying to hide that he’s not loving Alonzo as a son in law.

Alonzo earns Tugger’s approval by helping Munk fight Mac asduhflasifu

(Mac is Tugger’s brother here btw.)

The Magical Mister Mistoffelees song that we get is as much a roast as it is a hype song bc this boy does jot put cutlery back in the dishwasher, and he gives his dads heart attacks sneaking around silently in their own damn house—but also he's more capable than any of you realize and he's abt to show all of you what he can do.

Rum Tum Tugger: Nope. Those are leavings you said I can eat.

Munkustrap: You left plate with them in the kitchen...
