continuing doing the requests from this post! I still don't have my scanner with me so again, I'm sorry for the bad quality!!
Thank you @plzdonthitmewithyourcar 💗🤣 (also thank you for being so kind to suggest something else if I'm uncomfortable with a ship! although I have to say I usually have no problem with any of them!😊😊)
i enter the lesbian bar wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the phrase: ask me about my favorite fallacy. copious beautiful women proceed to do so. “it’s the argument from fallacy” i tell them. “the fallacy of claiming that because an argument contains a fallacy, that argument’s conclusion must therefore be false.” murmurs of appreciation, as this is an underrated, even unorthodox choice. “but there’s more,“ i say. the women listen, their attention piqued. “let’s call an argument containing some random fallacy Argument A. if you claim that Argument A’s conclusion is false because it commits a fallacy to get there, you have, of course, committed the argument from fallacy. but here’s where it gets interesting.” the women lean in, enraptured. someone turns the music off. “if i claim that your conclusion (that Argument A’s conclusion is false) is false because you committed a fallacy (the argument from fallacy), i too have committed the same fallacy.” i am met with exclamations of delight and disbelief. “it’s like fallacyception,” i say. the women burst into applause, charmed by my firm grasp of logic and reasoning. i exit the lesbian bar covered in lipstick kiss marks like in a cartoon
Actually trans! Parrots are fairly chill about the sex of their partner, and I’ve had several who will pair up with another of the same sex and then switch up gender roles when it comes to courtship behaviours. Sometimes one will always lead the courting, sometimes they will swap.
And yes, it’s fairly easy for sexually dimorphic birds to transition visually as well as socially! Dominant hens turning into roosters in the absence of a dominant lad is fairly well documented, etc.
In this case, as OP doesn’t state it outright: eclectic parrots are highly sexually dimorphic, with the girls being red with blue highlights, and the boys being green. So, Millie bonded strongly with this African grey, who presumably took on a female role in courtship, because Millie responded by taking on a male role - and producing enough male hormones to moult out the red feathers (presumably in the course of their regular annual moulting cycle) and grow in green ones instead!
Also, note the beak: girls’ beaks are black and boys’ are orange. Beaks are like fingernails, growing constantly from the base; so, Millie is growing out the black and replacing it with orange.
would you like a bird that is Actually Trans?
this is millie the eclectus parrot! they live at the aviary i work at, and is very cool! they used to have regular female plumage, but they bonded with an african grey and started turning green when they were placed in the same cage! we still don’t know exactly what caused it, but they’ve definitely gotten noticeably greener since i began working with them! have a good day <3
(this is millie’s partner :)
awwww that is so sweet!
thank you for sharing this lovely trans parrot <33
I currently can’t send or receive asks or DMs from this account. :( The error messages I get are weird and non-informative but yes, definitely some state of “blocked from social interactions”.
(For context, this is an account I made with a new email address when my main got accidentally terminated a few weeks ago. When I first made it, it could receive DMs etc; now it can’t. My main was reinstated a few days later, so it’s possible that the fact that I stopped using this one so actively helped get it flagged as a spam account?? Though i would think a spam account would, you know. Be highly active in its social activity. L)

the himalayan monal is a large member of the pheasant family found in parts of asia. while during the breeding season they mainly stay in pairs, in winter they form small communities and roost together. they feed on grasses, insects, seeds and berries. they are known for their vivid iridescent plumage, particularly colorful for a pheasant. x
I propose “snipped it in the button”. Even farther from the original metaphor but somehow twists itself into a new (and incomprehensible) one related to sewing.
Grainy backstage cuteness from the 2022 Taiwan tour! George Hankers giving us a glamour Jerrie (albeit bald), Carly Miles peeking behind him as Tantomile, Alice Batt as Jellylorum, Mukeni Nel right at the back as Carbuckety, Dane Quixall once again covering the role that’s not meant to have covers (well, he hasn’t had a chance to cat since before the pandemic, so he deserves every opportunity on that stage he can get!), and Dominique Hamilton being cute as Rumpelteazer.
Two amazing swings and a replacement lead from the 2021 US tour! Elana Valastro covering Tantomile and Megan Arseneau covering Demeter; posted by Allison Lian, who’s come on recently to cover for Kelly Donah as Rumpelteazer, with all the challenges of stepping into an established company and learning a role and tour life on the fly!
