Those boots from Hell that I think are so cute, I gave to my sister last night. Got to talking about Christmas presents with my mom earlier, this morning, and I'm wondering if maybe I should've put a bow or two on them and said "merry Christmas."
Too late now. Her face lit up when she realized that they would probably make her the tallest of her friend group. They're white heeled boots with black platform soles and black laces. So cute, but I walk too damn much for them.

It Only Takes A Taste (2)
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x [Fem]!Reader (GN pronouns, fem coded) Summary: it’s your second time meeting Aaron. He’s still flustered and precious but he (might) manage to give you his number. W/C: 2113 Warnings: none yet! A/N: i haven’t got chapter names yet, just accept they’re all called ‘it only takes a taste’ haha. AO3 tags: @willowrose99 @genevievedarcygranger @maryosprinkle @kleff03 (if you want to get added, lmk!!) Where am I in this series? 01 | 02 | 03 | 04
The next time you meet him, it’s 2am. Rita’s three weeks off her due date. She’s been staying at Joe’s place, with his wife, because the heating’s gone out in her apartment and her super is a foul man. If you were inclined to murder, he’d be first on your list. Right now she’s out the back, trying to wipe chocolate sauce off her uniform. The baby’s been kicking for hours and knocks things around the counter sometimes. At least it isn’t throwing her ribs out this time.
There’s a couple of teens drinking milkshakes in the window, they’ve snuck out after bedtime and they’re giggling to each other about how bad they are. You’ve seen their parents drive by twice (they’re regulars after school) but no one’s come in yet.
The agent drives by, and then does a u-turn and comes back. It was literally a double take, no matter how you look at it. You clearly saw him slow down and try to look in the window as he tried (desperately tried) to stay on the main road. And then he’d turned around and come back.
He’s even prettier dry than he was wet. (Your mind spirals to where that could have gone, which is not something you expected from a 2am shift). He’s loosened his tie and his hair is falling free of the gel. He looks less tired, and yet more tired. A different kind of tired. This one would be fixed by a good night’s sleep.
“Hi,” he says with a little quirk in his lip that could be him fighting off a smile.
“Hi,” you return with a full smile. He sits in front of you and steeples his fingers under his chin.
“I’m Aaron.”
A fortnight you’ve been wondering his name and he just swans in and hands it to you on a silver platter. Bless him and his beautiful brown eyes.
“Y/n,” you introduce. “And what can I get for you tonight, Aaron?”
“Maybe not a coffee.” He doesn’t break eye contact with you. He has such a cheeky smile you almost want to reach over and wipe it off his lips. “A hot chocolate would do. I’ve got to sleep enough to take my kid to school.”
“Have here?” Your hands hover over the in-cups and the out-cups. He taps his finger against his chin.
“In.” He folds his hands and you notice he’s not wearing a wedding ring. Kid, no wedding ring, weird hours. Could be a score, could be a serial killer. Could be both! No. Not both. There will be no fraternising with serial killers. Not if you respect your life.
Would it be weird to ask him where he works? If he works for one of the alphabet soups, will it get you in trouble? Maybe. People don’t like you poking around when sensitive information could be involved. You still ask anyway while the coffee machine has it’s little dummy spit at having to work at two in the morning.
“Quantico,” he says. He probably saw you trying to figure out how to ask. And that’s really all he can say. Maybe. He waggles his eyebrows just a little and you think he’s maybe a little too cheeky for this early in the morning. If Rita was working she’d be swooning all over him.
“That’s very prestigious, but, sir, I don’t think you have the security clearance to be in this diner if you only work at Quantico. We deal with Area 51.”
“Long commute,” he teases.
You raise an eyebrow. “That’s what the uneducated think. I can break a few rules as long as you don’t start asking questions. No asking about where they keep the aliens, okay?”
“Never.” He wraps his hands around the mug as you push it to him, absorbing it’s warmth.
“Did your son like the cookie?” you ask. Is it weird to remember he has a son after one interaction? Or the cookie? But he smiles. It’s okay.
“He’s actually in love with it. He’s not stopped talking about it. I think my sister-in-law might kill me.”
“Joe’s magic in the kitchen. I’ll save a couple of cookies if you know when you’ll be in next?”
Is that too forward? Maybe. He pulls out a little day book and places it before him.
“Is Thursday too soon?”
“No,” you say, shaking your head. You make a note to tell Joe you’re working on Thursday. “Sounds like a good day to collect a cookie.”
“If someone could cut this monster out of me, that would be GREAT!” Rita yells in the kitchen. Her voice is still far too loud out here. Aaron finally drops his gaze from yours, grinning into his hot chocolate.
“Shit, babes, I’m serious. I’ll got for a pocket knife at this point. I’m hot, and it’s not hot, I have to piss every four minutes, I can’t even sit in a car properly and taking the MET is stupid because I still have to pee!” She stops up short, seeing Aaron, and blinks as if she could erase her last comment. “Hi, sorry, you’re rain boy.”
“I prefer Raymond.”
There’s a beat where you try to figure out what the fuck he’s talking about. The cheeky demeanor falls from his face.
“Rain Man! Tom Cruise! Smile." Aaron has no option but to smile at Rita. Too late you realise she's checking the alignment of his teeth to actually equate him to Tom Cruise. "Raymond, for sure. Shit, that’s funny,” Rita laughs, groans, and turns on her heel out the back. She needed to pee again. Aaron smiles just a little.
“Want some pie?” you offer. There’s still a bit left. Joe won’t be in for another hour or so, but there’s some in the oven to take out just before three. Aaron nods.
“Yeah, please.” He puts too much money in the tip jar again. Hands you the exact money for the pie. Had he looked at the menu online? Maybe he had. You take a slice out for him, then a slice for yourself. No harm in that. The whipped cream goes on his like a mountain. You put a bit beside your own pie slice, but Aaron’s grinning.
He looks like he may do something childish. He doesn't, though, as you join him in pie eating. The teenagers start giggling about something they're watching on their phone.
Rita comes back looking more tired than usual. Her whole body looks tired as she gets her purse and rubs her belly.
"Say bye to Rita," she says without much playful effort.
"Bye Rita," you return and kiss her cheek as she lifts it to you.
"And to Baby."
"Bye Baby, be good for Mom."
Rita snorts. Joe gives you a list of things to do while he's taking Rita home. Apparently Lola's coming in to replace Rita, but that's only going to be proven by Lola actually turning up. Aaron raises his hand around his fork and waves. Rita waves back and waddles out the back.
"Is she okay?" you ask Joe, and he nods. He waves goodbye to Aaron, even though he hasn't introduced himself yet. Aaron waves too.
"That's a lot to worry about," Aaron says. You shrug and reach over the counter to Aaron's plate, taking some of his cream. He laughs and puts his arm around it to protect it.
"They're family. Less worrying, more caring."
He nods as if he understands. "Might use that sometime."
"You're welcome to."
He gives you a smile that only uses half his face. Gosh, he's cute. But it’s nothing more than fleeting night time visits, right? Okay, maybe not, he clearly turned his car around because he saw you working. You catch him staring at your left hand, studying it intently. No one wore rings at the diner, just because everything got stuck underneath them and there was nothing worse than having a maple syrup adorned wedding ring.
“There’s no one,” you tell him, which flusters him entirely. He smiles and looks down at his pie, blush creeping over his face. “Weird hours in a place like this? Hardly a brilliant base to build a relationship on.”
“Yeah.” He might want to say more, but he’s smiling at you again. “Weird hours, strange place, know that story.”
“Sucks, hey?”
“Oh yeah.”
The teens from the window go home when they’ve finished their milkshake. You tell them to get home safe and pray their parents don’t come in asking where they went. Aaron scraps his plate, scooping up the cream and pie soupy mess.
“I have to go,” Aaron sighs. He runs his hand through his hair and his fingers get stuck in the left-over-gelly-mess. You smother a giggle as he rolls his eyes and pulls his hand out with tiny little crack-crack-crack’s. It sounds painful.
“I’m going to shower and get this shit out of my hair.”
“It’ll look nice without it in.”
“Yeah?”
“Oh yeah.”
He blushes, returning to the man you’d met coming out of the rain.
“Well I’ll remember that for next time.”
Your heart jumps. Next time! There’ll be a next! Time!
“Listen, hey, um,” Aaron says as he stuffs a couple of bills into the tip jar. “Here--” he stops again, then shakes his head like he’s giving himself a vote of confidence. “This is…” he stops again and licks his lips, then pulls out a business card from his suit pocket. He scratches his number onto the blank back, and then Aaron at the top. “My number,” he managed to finish.
“Thanks,” you respond before wanting to smack your head onto the counter. Thanks?!?! There are a hundred better things to say. “W-when do you want me?” When do you want me??? “To be here, on Thursday, for the cookies.”
Aaron’s gone red. Your face is hot. This is a disaster. There’s no fixing this disaster. There’s no fixing it at all. But Aaron smiles all the same.
“U-uh. I’ll text you?” he looks so flustered.
“You haven’t got my number,” you giggle, because he hasn’t. You’ve got his. He looks like a tomato as he blushes even more. “How about I text you my number, and you tell me when you’re free, and I’ll make sure there’s three cookies set aside for you that no one else buys.”
“Three?”
“You, your son, your sister-in-law.”
“I could really use you at work,” he laughs and… sits back down. Four seconds ago he was in such a rush to leave, and now he’s looking at you like you’re his whole world. He’s so precious, you wish you could just put him in a jar and protect all that goodness from the evils of the world. Surely he couldn’t have met too many of them just yet? He’s still got a smile that could brighten up the night sky, people who’ve seen all the hurt and pain in the world can’t smile like that.
“I don’t think I’m clever enough to get into Quantico. Unless they like people serving them coffees,” you smile gently and he tilts his head while looking at you. A curious puppy. You want to lean over and squish his cheeks for thinking you could be anything more than a server at a roadside diner.
“You’d brighten the place up.”
“You brighten my place up.” Corny, highschool grade flirting. He smiles all the same. Can he smile any more than that? Probably not, he might combust and become a star. “You know you don’t have to keep putting money into the tip jar, right? Not the amount you do. Most people just put in their change.”
He looks at the tip jar. “It’s for Rita’s hospital bills, right? It’s why she won’t look at it, because she’s embarrassed, but also why you and Joe count every bill that goes in it.”
“Alright, Sherlock Holmes.”
“It says on the jar,” he jokes, and points to the permanent marker that’s bled through the otherside of the tip jar. You laugh. Aaron laughs.
“I do have to go.”
“Go,” you laugh. “I’ll text you when I’m off my shift.”
He nods, looking a little sad to go, but also a little excited. He must really love his son.
“I’ll see you on Thursday, Y/n.”
“I’ll see you on Thursday, Aaron,” you return and watch him leave. Shit, he’s even cuter leaving. He even waves from his car before he drives off. You’re close to squealing when the bikie gang pull up, flooding the carpark, then all come in ready for their coffee. At least Aaron’s hot chocolate warmed up the machine for them.

Wrong Numbers and Useless Gays Chapter 6
Who the F*ck’s Rebecca? OR How the 3 Gays got Together
Virgil learns about Roman’s childhood, specifically his sister and how he ended up dating Patton and Logan.
Warning: Misgendering of a character (but no one knows that the character is trans)
Yes, Roman and Remus are brothers. Explanations are listed at the bottom
Chapter 5 | Masterlist | Chapter 7
V- (2:07 PM) Let it Go was the best song in Frozen and you cannot convince me otherwise
R- (2:07 PM) I respect your opinion, but hear me out: Love is an Open Door
V- (2:08 PM) No
R- (2:08 PM) What about Fixer Upper?
V- (2:09 PM) Still no.
P- (2:09 PM) I really liked Olaf’s song about Summer!
L- (2:10 PM) I personally enjoyed the reprise of First Time in Forever.
R- (2:10 PM) You like almost any song with a reprise
L- (2:10 PM)I will not argue that, as successfully executed reprises are “lit.”
R- (2:11 PM) Ah, and who among us could forget the absolute BOP that is… that weird ice-cutting song.
P- (2:11 PM) I don’t know, Roman. I think that song is, pretty COOL
R- (2:11 PM) Oh, lookout
V- (2:12 PM) What? He’s just saying it’s a CHILLED out groove.
R- (2:12 PM) Ugh
L- (2:12 PM) We might need you two to leave this chat if you don’t stop.
Virgil laughed, throwing his phone on the bed and stripping out of his clothes. He just finished jogging home from Janus’ (he didn’t own a car right now, preferring to walk or have Janus pick him up). It was a lazy afternoon in late September, and all Virgil wanted to do was get out of these sweaty clothes and maybe take a nap. He heard his phone go off multiple times as he got dressed, probably Patton and Logan arguing about the purpose of puns. He flopped down onto his bed and grabbed his phone, checking the new messages.
P- (2:14 PM) Lo, the Princes are calling.
L- (2:14 PM) Tell Roman not to answer, Patton. We’ve been over this.
P- (2:14 PM) They’re asking about us, Lo.
L- (2:14 PM) Tell Roman to hang up. They’re not worth it.
P- (2:15 PM) They’re yelling now, L. They brought up Rebecca. What do I do?
L- (2:15 PM) Just walk into another room, Patton. Ignore them. Do you want me to call you?
P- (2:15 PM) No, I’m good. Just keep texting me. I need a distraction.
Now, Virgil had no idea about what the fuck was going on. But he knew how to distract someone. He’d just have to trust them to tell him later.
V- (2:16 PM) Did you know that octopi have 3 hearts?
L- (2:16 PM) What
P- (2:16 PM) That just means they have more love to give!
V- (2:17 PM) The longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds
P- (2:17 PM) Such a good bird!
V- (2:17 PM) Babies do not regularly produce tears until they are 1-3 months old
L- (2:18 PM) Ah, I think I understand now
V- (2:18 PM) A ‘jiffy’ is an actual unit of time. It stands for 1/1000th of a second
L- (2:18 PM) Falsehood. A jiffy is 1/100th of a second
V- (2:19 PM) Sorry, my hand must’ve slipped.
L- (2:19 PM) You would be unable to walk on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune because they have no solid surface.
L- (2:20 PM) An asteroid about the size of a car enters Earth’s atmosphere roughly once a year. However, it burns up before it can reach us.
L- (2:20 PM) The highest mountain known to man is on an asteroid called Vesta. It is approximately three times the height of Mount Everest.
P- (2:21 PM) I think they hung up. Thanks for keeping me company, Kiddos!
L- (2:21 PM) It was not an issue, Patton.
V- (2:21 PM) Yeah, no problem Pat. Now can someone explain what just happened?
L- (2:23 PM) As you can probably tell, I am not home at the moment. Apparently, Roman’s parents decided to call him and an argument broke out. The rest is not my place to say.
Virgil bit his lip, refusing to look at his phone screen. Did Virgil have the right to ask about that. It was obviously a very sensitive topic, and Virgil had only known Roman for about 3 months now. Virgil felt like he knew a lot about his 3 crushes (their quirks, their favorite sweets, their goals in life), but he knew very little about their lives before Virgil had met them. Which was fine; they knew very little about Virgil’s life, too. But he desperately wanted to help Roman; to make him feel happy and safe and loved. Virgil sighed, setting his phone on his nightstand. If Princey wants to tell me what’s going on, I’ll listen. If not, I’ll just have to deal with it.
Virgil woke up from his nap to the sound of his phone going off. He blindly felt around for it, his face still firmly planted in his pillow. He finally found it, turning it on before he lifted his head to read the text. It was a private message from Princey.
R- (3:02 PM) You’re probably wondering what happened today.
V- (3:02 PM) I am, but you don’t have to tell me if you’re not comfortable. I’ll respect your privacy.
R- (3:02 PM) As much as I appreciate that, you still deserve to know.
R- (3:03 PM) Do you mind if I call you? This doesn’t feel like a conversation to have over text.
Virgil thought about it for a moment. He originally never wanted to call Roman, simply because he might recognize Virgil’s voice as Anxiety’s. However, not only was Virgil 99% confident that Roman had never even heard of The Dark Sides, Virgil’s head was still foggy after his nap. Before he knew it, he was already calling Princey’s phone.
“Virgil?” Roman didn’t sound as… grand as Virgil expected. His voice was subdued and slightly hoarse, probably from the screaming match with his parents.
“Heya, Princey.” Virgil cringed at how gravelly his voice sounded. He’ll need to get some water after this conversation is over.
“You sound so tired. Oh my stars, did I wake you up? I’m so sorry. I’ll let you get back to sleep-”
“Princey, it’s okay. Just finished my nap. Might not talk much, but ‘m all ears.”
“Alright. Where do I even begin?”
“Take your time. ‘m not pressurin’ you or anythin’.”
“(sigh) You’re right. I guess I should start at the beginning. I grew up in a very... conservative household. My parents expected me and my sister, Rebecca, to be perfect. ReeRee was my partner in crime. We did everything together up until highschool. My parents expected me to get a football scholarship and date the hottest girl in school. I did those things, not because I wanted to, but because they wanted me to. ReeRee was a different story. When my parents signed her up for cheerleading, she tried to join the football team instead. When they told her she should wear her hair in a ponytail, she cut it off to match mine. I didn’t understand, and it made me angry. It was like looking in a funhouse mirror; she was starting to look more and more like me, and yet each change made my parents angrier. Why was looking and acting like me a problem? I thought they liked this version of me! One night in the summer before junior year I was really frustrated and I took it out on her. I told her to stop acting like me. I knew she didn’t deserve my anger, so I went to Patton’s place to cool down. By the time I came home, my parents refused to acknowledge that I even had a sister. I pushed her away, and now I’ll never get her back.
After that, things changed. I was so angry, and everything I saw reminded me of her. I quit the football team, because every time I went down to the field I expected to see her. I dyed my hair, because every time I looked in the mirror I saw her staring back. I stopped caring about what my parents thought, ‘cause it was their opinions that dragged me into this mess!
I had already been friends with Patton since Freshman year, but me and Logan had been at each other’s throats . We were always bickering about something, and sometimes I used our arguments to vent out my anger at whatever was wrong at the time. I didn’t even realize how much I had cared about Patton and Logan until I learned about the LGBTQ+ community. My parents were super strict, and Patton and Logan didn’t exactly flaunt their relationship. I had no idea that liking guys was even an option . Once I learned about it, my parents quickly tried to shut it down. Everyday, they’d start their day telling me that ‘homosexuality is a sin’ and ‘God made you to be the gender you were born with!’ If they had told me that before ReeRee left, I might’ve believed them. But by this point, I didn’t care about a single thing they told me.
So one day, I’m arguing with Logan about who knows what, and suddenly we’re inches apart, and I remember pa saying ‘ a boy should never kiss another boy.’ And just think, ‘Fuck it.’ And now me and Pocket Protector are suddenly making out behind the school building. Microsoft Nerd asks why the hell I decided to make out with him of all people, and I break down right there. He agreed to keep it a secret, but he refused to do anything more than a simple make-out session until he had Padre’s consent to do so. Which I understood, consent is important, cheating is bad.
Now we’re having these ‘sessions’ at least once a week for almost 4 months. Patton eventually walked in on us and he was understandably upset. I explained what had happened and that I’ve had a crush on both of them for a while. And they’re like ‘cool, we’re polyam.’ And now I’m starting senior year dating two men, which mom and pa were not okay with. I told ‘em to fuck off and we moved away as soon as we graduated. They still call occasionally, asking when I’m gonna get my life together and get over losing ReeRee. I haven’t blocked ‘em yet in case they find her or change their minds.”
Roman finally took a deep breath. “Sorry about the rant. Didn’t realise how badly I needed to get that off my chest.”
Virgil snorted. “Don’t worry ‘bout it. Told ya I’d be a good ear. And Princey?”
“Yeah?”
“You don’t gotta do anything to impress someone else. You bein’ you is good enough. And if Rebecca could see you, I’m sure she’d be proud as hell. And don’t be ‘fraid to hit me up if you need someone other than your SOs to rant to; I’ll always be here for ya, Princey.”
“... Thank you, Virgil. I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear that until you said it.” He sighed, and Virgil could hear the sound of running water. “I’m gonna go drink some water. My throat burns like a bitch right now.”
“Same. Catch you later?”
He could hear Roman chuckle to himself. “I guess you shall. Farewell, Storm Cloud. And pleasant dreams!”
Virgil blushed. The way Roman said his nickname… it made Virgil’s gay heart nearly explode. He quickly hung up and buried his face back into his pillow. I’ll get water later. AFTER my heart stops racing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, for those of you wondering about why Virgil doesn't realize that Roman and Remus are brothers, I'm gonna put a quick explanation here, 'cause I don't know how to casually fit this into the story. 1.) Remus has never told Virgil his deadname or his last name. He's probably told Janus (since their pretty close) but Virgil doesn't know. 2.) Remus has never told Virgil that his brother's name is Roman. Additionally, when Virgil is talking about the 3 gays, he only calls them "Pat, Lo and Princey." 3.) Roman's parents didn't tell him that Remus transitioned, so he doesn't know that Rebecca now goes by Remus. Also, none of the characters have actually sent pictures of their faces, so none of them have any idea what the other looks like. 4.) It is a total coincidence that both twins moved to the same town. Remus believes that Roman still lives in their hometown, and Remus could be dead for all that Roman knows. There is no logical reason for them to think "maybe Virgil's friends with my long-lost sibling" 5.) Virgil would NEVER out his friends like that. He tells Janus and Remus everything, but he would NEVER betray Roman's trust like that. Same thing for telling Roman about Remus. Roman might know that Remus is trans, but he doesn't know about Remus' background. ONE LAST THING: Roman and Virgil will eventually see each other face-to-face but WON'T recognize each other's voices. This is because during the phone call Virgil is still groggy from waking up and Roman is still hoarse from screaming.

JUST MARRIED (...kinda)
PART 3
We were now all sitting at the table . Yixing and I were both sitting in front of each other and both sitting between our parents. Honestly, this little « family gathering » was more of an occasion for our parents to settle the arrangements. Yixing and I didn’t really have a word on it . I was really trying as hard as I can not to meet the boy’s eyes , but I could feel him staring at me so hard he could burn holes through my skin . I tried to focus myself on something else to relax a little bit and in that situation, nothing could be better than food. I was scrolling through the menu when the waiter came over .
« Alright ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to order ? »
« Uh ... Yes, I’ll take the eggs Benedict, please! » I heard my dad speak, in the most cheerful tone ever . He really did pass me his love for food ...
As the waiter was taking everyone’s orders I sensed an awkward tinge of stress . I don’t now why but I always felt like people were judging me when I ordered food. This comes all the way back from when I was a teenager. I was quite chubby and to be really honest , I still was . I didn’t lose that much weight , but I just learned to accept myself how I was and to learn to develop positivity. However, no matter how hard I worked , people were always there to remind me that I could « lose a few » or that I might wanna « slow down and drop my fork for a minute . » I can eat , and I love to eat I really don’t see why everyone was making such a big deal out of it-
“Miss ?...”
“Uh?” I replied sounding dumbfounded .
“Are you ready to order ? What can I get you ?”
I swallowed hard and cleared my throat. I was obviously nervous.
“I’ll get the blueberry pancakes and the soft boiled egg also can I get a-“
I felt my mom slap my thigh . There was it. She stayed silent but her eyes spoke for her : “Slow down Mina for God’s sake ! What will they think of you ? “ I could read it all in the way her eyes widened at me, more as a threat than in shock. I chuckled darkly and gave her my most hypocritical smile .
“Can I order a drink, mother?Or do I need your permission? ” And with that, I completely ruined the mood. A very painful silence filled the room and I realized too late that I might have been a little aggressive... I looked down and frowned at myself in guilt .
“She’ll have a strawberry lemonade, don’t make it too sweet though. Lots of ice. “ I looked up as I heard Yixing order the drink for me . I couldn’t hold my smile back and though my eyes might have a little sadness in them . He winked back at me and mouthed a simple “I got you”. This was enough for me to feel comforted. But then I realized what had just happened. He ordered my favorite drink for me. So he remembered. After all those years, he didn’t forget. I bit the inside of my cheek so stop myself from grinning.
As the food arrived, the atmosphere lightened up a little bit . Everyone was enjoying themselves and thanks to my dad and his wonderful sense of humor, the air was quickly full of laughter. But I knew it wouldn’t last long .
“So , Mina , what do you think of Yixing? Do you think he would make a great husband? You know, he might be my son , but I’m not bias ! Tell me honestly, my dear !”
“Dad... Please , just don’t “ Yixing’s ears soon turned red and he was avoiding my gaze. Honestly, seeing him lose control was kind of funny.
“You don’t have to to answer that Mina, don’t feel pressured.”
“No , it’s fine , I’ll answer! Well, uncle , If I’m really honest with you , I feel like Yixing could be a really good husband. He seems very responsible and I know he’s very respectful, so there’s no way he’ll be a bad husband.” I was actually really proud of myself for not giving an answer that wasn’t giving out the fact that I have been crushing on the man since my middle school years. But Yixing seemed surprised . Like he wasn’t expecting this coming from me .
“You really think that,Babyface? “ I did nothing but nod my head fervently .
“What about you Yixing? What do you think of Mina ? You’ve seen her grow up after all ! Did she change a lot ? “ My mom urged on him . God, she can be so intrusive sometimes...
“Well, she did grow a lot , but I hope she still is the Mina I know inside, because I would change that for nothing in the world.”
My eyes widened at that . Damn . I wasn’t expecting this situation to take such a turn ! He gave me the cutest smile and went back to his drink .
“Okay, I think we have a deal then , if everyone is happy with each other ! “ Yixing’s mom said ,clapping her hands .
“Uh, I have one request though...” I found the courage to utter . I had to ask for it now , otherwise it was gonna be too late . “I would like Yixing and I to spend some time together, to...you know... get to know each other more deeply ... I thought it was a good idea to... um... to go on a couple of dates before the actual wedding, to get ... more ... comfortable? With each other ?... I don’t know, maybe that’s not a good idea, I was just proposi-
“No, that’s actually a really great idea, Mina ! I would love to take you on a couple dates, before we actually get married! Um...With your parents’ permission, of course . “
My dad’s laugh echoed in my ears and all of a sudden , my heart felt lighter .
“Son, you have my blessing ! “
Yixing just smiled at my dad , then at me . And I felt proud that I stood up for my ideas . After setting a date for the wedding, we were all ready to leave . The parents were walking on one side and Yixing and I were on another side . There were awkward smiles and giggles, but strangely enough, I didn’t feel like walking away from the situation.
“So, um... I’ll text you later today ? So we can set up a date for the first date ? I’ll have to go abroad for business next week so maybe we can see each other when I come back- He face palmed himself and shook his head . “No. I shouldn’t start things like this . Let’s see each other before I leave , yeah ? I’ll treat you dinner .
“Okay ! I’m down . How about after tomorrow? Sounds good to you ? “
“After tomorrow, So Friday? Yeah, sounds perfect!” I was watching his warm smile turn into a frown of embarrassment as he took his phone out of his pocket. “Um... I know this is gonna sound really cheesy, but can I get your number ? You know, to ... set up the date and everything... “ Seeing Yixing get so shy and scratch the back of his head as he was probably mentally cringing at himself was honestly a big boost to my self confidence.
“Uh... Well it’s... it’s still the same number, I... never changed my number ... But you probably don’t have it anymore, I mean why would you-“
“I still have it . My number is still the same too... so I hope you still have it .” He sounded so stern all of a sudden and I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not . The dark and strict look in his eyes caused the heat of my body to rush to my cheeks .
“O-okay then if we still have each other’s numbers , I guess I’ll wait for your text !” My throat was dry and I was desperately looking for something to escape the situation. I looked over at my parents to see them getting into the car. I looked back at Yixing smiling. “I guess I should go then ! “
He just nodded at me and opened his arms signaling me to come closer . He pulled me very close and lowered his face to whisper in my ear : “I honestly can’t wait for you to be my wife, Babyface.”
I felt really hot all of a sudden , and I pulled away from him, avoiding his gaze as much as possible. Yixing apparently noticed my embarrassment because he laughed loudly at my obviously flustered self.
“I’ll text you later alright ? “
“Ok !”
“Ok... Go Mina , your parents are waiting for you . “
“Yeah... “
And I left just like that . Too scared to turn back and see if he was actually looking at me , but secretly praying that he would ...
As we arrived home , I directly went into my room and crashed on my bed . So many things happened in just one morning. Recalling all the events that happened today, I suddenly felt hit by reality. So this was gonna be it . I’ll be somebody’s wife in a few months . New life, new home , new family and new responsibilities ... God , this all happened so fast ... How did I go from college kid to bride to be in a matter of weeks ? I sighed and rubbed my temples. All this thinking got me a headache. I decided to take a small nap to make the pain go away...
-1hour later-
I was awakened by my phone buzzing like crazy. I groaned and tapped my bed a few times before my hand finally came in contact with my phone . I gasped and sat down properly on my bed when I read Yixing’s name on my phone .
[Yixing 2:03 pm]
“Hi again Babyface”
[Yixing 2:05 pm]
“Did you arrive home safe ? “
[Yixing 2:10 pm]
“I did too. Thanks for asking.”
[Yixing 2.15 pm]
“Anyways , I saw this very nice Italian restaurant we could go to on Friday! You know I’m not that fond of Italian food , but if I remember correctly, you love Italian food , soooo... yeah “
[Yixing 2:23 pm]
“Aren’t I the cutest for my little wife ?”
[Yixing 2:45 pm]
“Really ? Wow , you’re not even reading my texts...”
Fuck . I hit myself on the head a couple of times before urging to unlock my phone to answer him .
[Me 3:00 pm]
“OMG I’m so sorry Yixing, I fell asleep !”
[Me 3:03]
“Italian is perfect! I know you don’t really like Italian, so I really appreciate the gesture”
[Me 3:03 pm]
“You’re the cutest husband !!”
I was nervously tapping my nails on my screen, waiting for him to answer and hoping that he wasn’t too upset .
[Yixing 3:05 pm]
“You almost pissed me off ,Mina . I was starting to think you were avoiding me “
[Me 3:05 pm]
“Nooo!!! Why would I avoid you? Don’t be ridiculous! And did you just call me Mina ? Am I not Babyface anymore ? “
[Yixing 3:07 pm]
“You’re Mina when you upset me ... And by the way, you used to call something else than Yixing too, you know ? What happened to that ? “
I smirked at this. He was so composed in every situation, but he could be so childish sometimes...
[Me 3:09 pm]
“What are you talking about , Yixing ? What nickname did I give you?” I teased, knowing exactly what he wanted.
[Yixing 3:12 pm]
“You know what I’m talking about, come on , don’t tell me you forgot ! I’m dying to hear you say it ... If you don’t call me by my nickname, I won’t call you by yours , Mina...”
I winced as I read the message. I hated to hear him calling me by my name .
[Me 3:15 pm]
“Okay Xingie , I was just messing around with you ...”
[Yixing 3:22 pm]
“Good girl.”
A whole shiver went through my spine when I saw his last text . I quickly locked my phone and tossed it away somewhere on my bed. I nervously smiled to myself and squealed like a thirteen year old girl . Pride and embarrassment washed over me as I realized he called my his “Good girl” . There was nothing new , he had always called me that . But I never understood the double meaning of it when I was younger. But now that I was older and that my hormones got on the way , I couldn’t lie and say that I didn’t fantasize about Yixing calling me a “good girl” in more ... steamy situations. I bit my lip and shook my head . I was getting hot just at the thought of Yixing and I getting intimate... My phone buzzed one more time and I jumped on my bed to get it , hoping it would be a text from Yixing. It wasn’t.
[Marina Babe 4:25 pm]
“Babe ! Haven’t heard of you in a whole week!! What’s up ? Did you meet the guy ? Who is it ? Is he hot ? Don’t tell me he’s an old uncle please !!! Tell me everythiiiiiiing !!!”
I smiled at this and brought my phone to my heart. Words cannot describe how much I love this girl . I knew the idea of me marrying her cousin would make her lose her shit , cause we will have an actual excuse for always being in each other’s lives as we would be family for real now . I unlocked my phone to answer her.
[Me 4:28 pm]
“I’m marrying Yixing.”
Yes, I was marrying Yixing. And to be quite honest, I couldn’t wait to be his ...

squad night gone wrong » event (2/2)
everyone gets an anonymous message saying to meet up at the hq and things get... spoopy.
lana.-Today at 3:44 AM
she spun around in her seat, so that she was finally facing the screens, "you don't even want to know," she mumbled to herself under her breath once they had left the room.
naomi.-Today at 10:39 AM
naomi had quietly sneaked away to use the bathroom in the midst of all the arguing over if they would take a quick trip down the basement. once she relieved herself, she returned to lana sitting in her infamous spinning chair and everyone else down in the basement. 'seriously, lana? come on don't be such a debbie downer. you're gonna miss out on all the fun." naomi wiggled her eyebrows, laughing afterwards before putting on her straight mom face. "if you don't go down to this basement i'm never talking to you again." she crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for lana's response.
bryce.-Today at 11:10 AM
bryce finished his chips and he tossed the bag out before wiping his hands together to get the crumbs off of his fingers. he had no qualms with the basement -- sometimes it did make the hairs on the back of his neck stand -- but he always preferred to go with someone than by himself. he followed behind the rest of the gang, taking each step slowly. "the way some of you guys are acting, you'd think we were descending into the abyss or something," bryce murmured, his grin not having faded. "though, i do have to say i might be in damaris' camp now -- if even a piece of that furby's fur has moved, i say we burn it. it is kinda creepy if you're around if got too long."
damaris.-Today at 11:37 AM
"We're as good as," she murmured from behind Bryce, having decided after much internal debate that sticking with the many instead of the few was the best way to ensure a safe evening- something that felt almost at threat, with the new discovery that it wasn't Lana who sent the text. Of course, it could have been anyone else, just messing with the group now and saying they hadn't done it. It could have been a fan, who had somehow gotten... all their numbers. Or, and this was the thought that only fed a persistent, horribly bad feeling- it could be something else. She wasn't taking her chances in the main building, alone ( or with just one other ), but that didn't mean she had to be comfortable in the descent to the basement. "I stand by that sentiment. But... I'm going to be more inclusive this time. If anything down here has moved even an unexplained inch, it's time for us to purge the basement. Finally."(edited)
ashley.-Today at 2:19 PM
ashley felt bad for being so late to the party, but she got caught up helping her roommates get dressed to go out that night. “sorry i’m so-” her words trailed off as she walked inside and only found lana and naomi. “oh, is no one else here?” she asked, checking the time on her phone. naomi was usually around, but it was surprising to see lana as one of the first people there, but ashley didn’t question it. “i figured at least whoever called this would be here. who sent the text again? i don’t remember reading that.”
lana.-Today at 2:31 PM
she shook her head at naomi; she was never able to be as serious around her as she was with the rest of the group. "never again, is that a promise?" lana asked while the corners of her lips tugged into a smile. she was focusing on what she was now doing on the computers ... that was until ashley entered and broke her train of thought. "no one seems to know who sent it," she pivoted to look at her, "they're all downstairs. something about an orgy or something?" lana gave her no further explanation, just a shrug.
naomi.-Today at 2:39 PM
"hm....' naomi pretended as if she was actually thinking of what to say "no." she playfully rolled her eyes and peeked over to lana's computer screen. "yeah it's weird but at the same time it's not. it easily could have been a crazy fan or someone trying to fuck with us.' naomi looked over at ashley, "isaiah was the main saying something about an orgy.... go collect your man. oh wait, lana just track whoever sent the message number. shouldn't be that hard, right?"
ashley.-Today at 3:33 PM
“there’s an orgy downstairs?” ashley repeated, furrowing her eyebrows. “you think there’d be something about that on the invite, i’m not dressed for an orgy,” she joked. perking up at isaiah’s name, she turned her attention to naomi. “he’s not my man, and i’m not too sure i want to collect him if that’s what i’m getting into,” she said, referring to the apparent orgy. “oh yeah, there are totally websites where you can like, track numbers or whatever to see if they’re someone using an app to get a fake number.” she’d used them for shady twitter dates. remembering who was doing the searching, she backtracked, “but you probably know a better way, huh?”
lana.-Today at 3:41 PM
lana's smile grew wider after hearing ashley's reply. she was already half way through tracking the number by the time the other two mentioned it, "way ahead of you." she made it look easy; which it was for her. this was just a walk in the park compared to most of the other things that she's done prior to this. not to mention, she's been tracking phone numbers for as long as she could remember. but, something was wrong this time around and the concern was clearly expressed through her facial expression, "wait," lana got closer to the screen. "this doesn't make sense."
ashley.-Today at 3:46 PM
hearing the genuine concern in lana’s voice, ashley leaned in closer, as if she could actually understand anything on the screen. “what’s wrong?”
lana.-Today at 3:50 PM
she looked up at ashley, "i've done this a million times and this system is never wrong — i'm never wrong." lana then glanced back at the screen, not understanding what she saw. "but, it says it leads ... to no where. it's like it ... doesn't even exist."
ashley.-Today at 3:52 PM
ashley's eyes narrowed in confusion, not exactly following where lana was going. "what does that mean? how can a number just not exist? it has to lead to somewhere, doesn't it?"
lana.-Today at 3:56 PM
"yeah," she answered. surprised to hear that ashley knew what she was talking about for once. "exactly right — it always has to lead somewhere." lana's eyes met ashley's, "but, this one doesn't."
ashley.-Today at 3:59 PM
"i don't really know what a number being a dead end means, but should we go tell everyone else that we don't know where the number is from? that it's not someone playing a joke, or like, a fan or something?"
lana.-Today at 4:03 PM
"i agree. something is definitely up," lana stood out of her chair and was the first one out the door. she was genuinely worried about the rest of the members that were already in the basement.
ashley.-Today at 4:04 PM
with the new discovery, ashley and naomi followed lana down the stairs to the basement where everyone else was, leaving the door open behind them.
micah.-Today at 4:06 PM
micah glanced up as he heard footsteps coming down the stairs. he glanced at ashley and naomi, but paused at the sight of lana. "i thought you were staying upstairs."
julian.-Today at 4:09 PM
while he had no intention to join everyone downstairs, julian soon found himself being the only one in the main room. with a defeated sigh he inched his way towards the basement door, clomping down the stairs while scrolling through twitter on his phone. "everyone still alive?" he questioned, only half-joking.
naomi.-Today at 4:17 PM
"um... the messsage..." she looked over at lana the ashley, swallowing the lump in her throat, "well lana tracked it and it literally belongs to no one. i mean no number ever sent that message." she didn't know if the rest of the team would understand but she was more than creeped out right now.
damaris.-Today at 4:24 PM
"what does that mean?" eyes flickering from one to the other to the next, mar's mind raced- her first thought that they were playing a joke, her second that it wasn't even possible for a number to come from nowhere, and her third... that while it mightn't have been, it wasn't like stranger, equally creepy things hadn't already happened to them. "... is that actually what you guys found out, or is this just... a really bad joke? cause it's really not funny for you all to pull this while we're in the basement of all places..."
bryce.-Today at 4:31 PM
"still alive," he called back to julian before letting out a laugh, "neither furby nor any other cursed object has gotten us yet." bryce glanced over his shoulder towards the part of the group that had said they weren't going to go down. he would have asked why, but micah and damaris spoke first. hearing the answer naomi gave, for the first time since arriving that evening, the grin fell from his face. "that's really not possible? like, it had to come from somewhere." he bit his lip as he looked from naomi to lana. now he didn't doubt that lana did everything correctly but -- "did you double check? not that i'm saying you did something wrong, but maybe it was the program or i don't know." he hesitated before letting his gaze move between each of the other members of the team. "if this is a joke by any of you, it's not funny anymore."
lana.-Today at 4:39 PM
she sighed; of course they would have a hard time believing her. she didn't have the best track record considering she was always pulling stupid jokes. in fact, this did sound like something she would do. "of course i double checked, i'm not a monster," lana looked at them all, trying to show them that she was being sincere. "something is wrong."(edited)
vanessa.-Today at 4:49 PM
for the first time in forever, the mcdonald's ice cream machine had not been broken. it had been a good start to a potentially GREAT dat. licking the soft-served sweetness happily, her high tops shuffled against the floor ( which was in dire need of a vacuum ) as hazel eyes searched for any sign of life. " knock, knock... anyone home?? " she called out, swimming in the headquarter's unusual silence. finally, the sound of voices caught her attention and, like a fish on a hook, allowed the chit-chat to drag her towards the dank basement. " what's crack-a-lackin', kiddos!! nobody told me we were having a party down here. " she grinned, poking her head through the doorway as her voice carried down the stairs. and then she paused, smile wavering ever so slightly. " what's with the grim faces. you guys look like you just rewatched the ending of 'marley & me'... " vanessa stepped closer, brows knit, only to have the door slam shut behind her. " ... well that's never a good sign. "
ashley.-Today at 4:56 PM
ashley turned to vanessa as she walked down the stairs, thrown off by how peppy she was. jumping as the door slammed, her heart beat picked up. "please tell me someone isn't down here yet and they're the one that just shut the door." she said, too nervous to check if anyone was missing. she still wasn't entirely sure what it all meant, but being trapped in a basement full of things that damaris thought could be haunted with doors shutting on their own didn't reassure her that things were normal.
micah.-Today at 5:02 PM
micah froze, this scene feeling all too familiar. oh, fuck, not now. his fingers curled into his palms, nails digging into his skin as he anchored himself to the moment. he wasn't afraid — no, he could care less about whether they survived this odd encounter. but this was something he lived through too much, and he couldn't deal with that. he didn't look at cristian, or at naomi, the only two people who felt completely safe. he stuck his hands in his pockets, gripping his phone tightly, his only anchor to reality at this point. for once, he didn't comment, lacking a sarcastic or morbid remark to lighten the mood. he simply watched the door, silently hoping it would open.
naomi.-Today at 5:05 PM
as the door slammed shut, naomi's eyes widened and she took a step back. this can't be happening again she thought to herself, her mind automatically going back to that cursed summer. she's been trying so hard to forget and now she feels as if she's reliving that night all over again (which might be a overexaggeration but she really can't shake that eerie sound of having a door close on its own) "someone fucking open the door, now."
kimberly.-Today at 5:14 PM
kimberly watched everything happen in lana.ytical silence, trying to maintain a steely expression despite wanting to deadass roll her eyes at everyone immediately freaking out. she pushed past a few people, tiny hands wrapping around the door handle and twisting. "what the f -" she stopped herself before she could finish the word, tugging harder at the door, even attempting with both hands. "uh," was all she could say, slowly backing away, a mild panic finally settling into the pit of her stomach.
elijah.-Today at 5:35 PM
“no one ! NO ONE TOUCH THE DOOR!” eli shouted out of nowhere hoping it was loud enough to get everyone’s attention. “sorry just, it could be cursed. i read it somewhere.” rifling through his bag for the book he realized a fatal error; his inhaler. missing. fuck. pretending like he wouldn’t need it, he took shallow, quiet breaths and surveyed the room. when his eyes landed on vanessa, they lit up. “nessa, can you do your thing? you know -- “ eli wiggled his fingers spookily in what he hoped was a universal signal for clairvoyant medium madness.(edited)
julian.-Today at 5:40 PM
julian took a few steps back away from the entrance, leaning up against a glass display case. "so is the door now haunted?" he asked in a monotone voice, raising an eyebrow.
lana.-Today at 5:48 PM
"someone must be messing with us," ignoring any and all of eli's warnings, lana walked over to the door and aggressively shook the handle. "if this is one of the people ashley or cristian has slept with who doing this for revenge because they didn't get a call back — i swear to god."
vanessa.-Today at 6:01 PM
the only thing vanessa could think about was how she was going to simultaneously eat her melting soft-serve and help quell the stress of her teammates; she had never been a good multi-tasker. " what else would it be, julian?? the air conditioning unit?? pfft, of course it was ghosts. it's ALWAYS ghosts. " she assured him, though no doubtedly doing nothing to help in easing the terrifying moment. hazel oculars rested on elijah, and uncomfortable look crossing her features as the vanilla treat began to melt onto her hand. " um, so that's not really how it works... don't get me wrong, the vibes in this place are wacky as heck, but that's not unusual. after all, it's filled with enough occulist-trash to send satan himself in a tizzy. besides i can't concentrate when everyone's-- " she waved her hands around, hoping it expressed the chaotic nature. " let's all just take a few deep breaths, 'kay?? "
naomi.-Today at 6:04 PM
"take a few deep breaths?" the fear that had once inhabited naomi quickly turned into frustration and she shook her head. "what we need to do is bust this door down or find another way out of here!" the fact that there were no other windows or doors in this cursed room made the situation even worse.
micah.-Today at 6:06 PM
quietly, micah crossed the room to stand next to naomi. whether it was to calm her, or himself was a mystery even to him, but he wasn't rushing to solve it. "i don't think there is another way out. if there were, we probably would've noticed by now. so it looks like we're either breaking this thing down, or we're stuck down here."
julian.-Today at 6:25 PM
the tension in the room was building up, and although julian didn't fear the haunted door that elijah and vanessa were investigating, he could sense the toll it was taking on everyone. he left his stance by the cabinet and inched closed to kimi, his side brushing against hers. "i could probably just ram into it and bust it open. don't you think?" he said aside to her.
kimberly.-Today at 6:27 PM
kimberly jumped slightly at the new presence at her side, turning her head just to shoot a glare at julian. "yeah, that's a great idea," she responded, voice dripping with sarcasm. "do that, it'll be fun to take you to the hospital."
verena.-Today at 6:42 PM
pinching the bridge of her nose, verena could feel the headache lurking in the back of her head. the panicked chatter tempting her patience and her sanity. pushing off the wall she’d been leaning up against, vee crossed the room, her hands raised to signal for everyone to shut up, even though she knew they’d most likely ignore her. “can everyone just calm down? no one is going to ram the door, okay? lets all just chill out and try to figure out a logical way out of this.”
ashley.-Today at 6:47 PM
"logical?" ashley repeated, looking at vee, shocked. "the door just shut by itself and we can't open it. if julian wants to bust the it down, let him go for it. who cares, as long as we get outta here."
vanessa.-Today at 6:52 PM
" if this is a democracy, i vote for not breaking down the door. they're really expensive to replace and you'll probably get splinters. not to mention, the paranormal don't really follow the rules of nature. i wouldn't be surprised if you were just tossed back. " vanessa pointed out, fully abandoning the ice cream cone on the top stair ( perhaps the spirits would view it as a peace offering ). " clearly whatever malevolent being- or beings- wants us here isn't just going to happily swing the door open with an apology and kiss on the cheek. now, hear me out, but how about we try and COMMUNICATE with it instead of running around like headless chickens. all in favor?? " she raised her own hand in the air.
bryce.-Today at 7:00 PM
bryce casted a sidewards glace towards ashley and then verena. "i don't want anyone to get hurt, but what good is just sitting here going to do? vee, logic says we try and get out of here, doesn't it?" he folded his arms across his chest, rocking backwards onto his heels. he was uncomfortable, and his growing anxiety was the only thing he was sure of. bryce glanced towards the cursed items around them before looking towards vanessa. "i'm not saying i wouldn't want to talk to any spirit that might have attached itself to these items or the office space --" he trailed off before shaking his head. "but that just seems like it'd be asking for trouble."
trevor.-Today at 7:04 PM
trevor had been quiet for a while, mostly trying to conceal that he was freaking out on the inside and didn't exactly what the rest of the group that he was as easily scared as he was. trevor moved over to elijah, fighting the urge to just bear hug him and ask him to tell him that everything was okay like he did when they watched horror movies. " okay ... um how about we just go back to the orgy idea someone put out before, have some fun, blow some steam, talk about how trump is satans asshole reincarnated into a cheeto puff and not die ? "(edited)
naomi.-Today at 7:08 PM
naomi rolled her eyes "no offense trevor but please be quiet." she'll apologize for that later. she felt micah standing next to her and for a split second she felt somewhat more relaxed but at the sound of everyone else arguing and vanessa feeling all the wacky vibes down here, she was certain she was going to go into full panic mode. stepping up to the door and pushing everyone aside, naomi began to shake the door handle in hopes that it'd open. "jesus fuck open the door." she grunted, now pounding her fist on the door
damaris.-Today at 7:11 PM
"vanessa... can't you try to communicate with them while someone else tries to get us out of here?" why was multi-tasking not a thing, with spirits? why did it have to be one or the other? damaris just wanted out of the basement- she didn't much care whether that came in the form of vanessa kumbaya-ing their way with whatever was in the room ( many a pointed look at been thrown herbie's way, since they'd gotten stuck ) or whether it came from breaking the door down.
micah.-Today at 7:13 PM
micah lightly nudged trevor, hoping to provide even a little comfort. he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea of an orgy, but he knew there was too much fear in the room for them to even think straight.  and he wouldn't admit it, but julian's idea wasn't that bad. it would break him if he was the only one trying, but add a few more people, and micah figured they could make some progress. "how does it work?" he asked vanessa, hoping her explanation would make even a bit of sense. none of this did, but he was willing to accept just about anything right now.
elijah.-Today at 7:19 PM
“the door . . . please don’t ... tou -- “ he grabbed onto the bookshelf for support. eli was short of breath and that was not good considering he was short of his inhaler. nonetheless this is what he signed up for. he needed the experiences for his future movies and this bad experience would make a great movie some day, so he tried to focus on that . . . even as his vision as tunneling. “that’s . . . that’s nice trevor and bryce, i thought you weren’t supposed to interact with the spirits either, but . . .” he straightened out his glasses and took a steep breath. “ i watched a lot of horror movies where people get trapped in basements and the thing that locked them in there usually did it to have them complete a task, a test or something. the door clearly is not responding to brute force, so if we do what it wants, maybe the door will open -- but to do that we need to figure out what that is and to do that . . . “ he looked between bryce and vanessa. “we have to communicate with it.”
lana.-Today at 7:27 PM
lana rolled her eyes at the commotion, "okay, wait — how can you guys even be sure this is paranormal?" she moved away from the door and stood by one of the tables filled with items. "this could just be someone who wants to freak us out. maybe it's one of those guys who bullied julian the other day in the library."
julian.-Today at 7:37 PM
after listening to lana, julian frowned a little. "i mean, bullying is a harsh word…" he mumbled. speaking up, he offered his first idea again. "are we sure no one wants to try ramming it? isaiah's got a pretty damn hard head. or maybe we can bust the hinges off with something. a hammer or… something…" his voice fizzled out as he looked around the room, seeing nothing that would do the job. he looked to verena, shrugging.
naomi.-Today at 7:47 PM
naomi was about to reply when all of the sudden the lights began to flicker on and off. (i hate that i thought of the hashslinging shalsher) she jumped back, a small scream leaving her lips. "what the fu—" her sentance was cut off by a notebook falling from the shelf and hitting the floor, pages flipping until they landed on a page. at this point, the room was eerily quiet and she had no idea what to do or say.
micah.-Today at 7:49 PM
micah immediately lost all fear and anxiety when the lights began to flicker. "i sincerely hope that's a demon and not the hashslinging slasher," he muttered to no one in particular.  "does anyone have a plan before someone gets off the bus with a spatula for a hand?"
ashley.-Today at 7:55 PM
jumping as the lights flashed, ashley grabbed on to whoever was closest to her, digging her nails into their arm. as if it couldn't get any worse, she felt her phone vibrating in her back pocket. she pulled it out with shaking hands and almost threw it across the room when she read the screen. "it says unknown caller. someone else answer it, please." she held the phone out, just wanting it away from her.
lana.-Today at 8:01 PM
lana's eyes scanned all around the room; she was so intrigued by everything that was happening. she'd never been in a situation like this before and yet, she was still somehow keeping calm. she ignored the phone call ashley was getting and rather kneeled down to read the page that the notebook opened up to. when she saw it, her heart dropped. lana slowly stood up and turned to ashley, "ashley, answer it," she demanded.
trevor.-Today at 8:05 PM
trevor jumped at the sound of ashley's phone ringing, his hand grasping onto elijah's arm. " don't ! " trevor whispered hardly, hoping his statement would get ashley to leave and not answer the phone but the rest of group kept insisting she answer. " im gonna fucking piss myself is that what you guys want ?" he exclaimed as he tightened his grip on elijah's arm. " let's let trevor piss himself and have a gay old time ! "
bryce.-Today at 8:11 PM
the flickering lights had put bryce further on edge, and then naomi's scream and the notebook falling did nothing to calm his nerves. when ashley's phone began ringing, it was only icing on the cake. he had hoped trevor was going to offer to answer the phone when he started to talk, but that was a pipe dream of a wish. as it kept ringing, finally he sighed. "i'm gonna grab it, ashley -- i'll do it." wasn't it better to get it over with than to just prolong the suffering? he outstretched his hand as he walked towards it, only then realizing that his hand was shaking. "if it's a demon or the hash slinging slasher, i'm never gonna use a phone ever again. it's walkie talkies or carrier pigeons from here on out."(edited)
cristian.-Today at 8:28 PM
during their time in the basement, cristian had tried his best to keep silent, contemplating the whole mess off to the side, especially considering everything that had happened last year -- actions from him might only worsen the situation. however, watching everything unfold and everyone close to losing their minds, he couldn’t stay back much longer, not when no one seemed to be getting anywhere. and on top of it all, the notebook resting under lana’s gaze was sending him really bad vibes, ones he couldn’t ignore. the dark-haired male took a deep sigh, frankly becoming quite annoyed with the whole ordeal, although he couldn't deny how slightly nervous he was, his heart beat picking up in speed a bit. suddenly shuffling toward lana, standing above her broadly, cristian snatched the notebook from the floor, “ let me see that, ” he huffed sternly, immediately regretting his actions before silently muttering, “fuck..” snapping out of his surprise, cristian turned around to bryce, “who’s on the fucking phone, bryce?”
naomi.-Today at 8:47 PM
she walked over to lana and cristian, recognizing the notebook as the one that she and verena had found  in the abandoed house at marblemount. the panic kicked in and she took the notebook from cristian, jaw dropping as she studied the image that was paperclipped onto the page. cristian it was him that night that they were stuck at the church. he had been there and he was the one who had chased daniel out. the book slipped from her grasp and her eyes looked up at cristian. "get him the fuck out of here." she sternly said, taking a step back and grabbing lana's arm, prompting her to take a step back as well.
julian.-Today at 8:58 PM
with a close gaze, julian kept his eyes on naomi, seeing her stand up and look at cristian with a terrible fear in her eyes. he was already stepping forward before she had called out. julian didn’t need to know why–he was on it. he walked up to cristian, putting both hands on the boy’s ( #TONED ) chest, giving him a little push back. “what the fuck did you do this time?” he asked, his voice much more intense than he intended it to be.
vanessa.-Today at 9:14 PM
things were getting far too tense for the brunette who basically survived off of smiles and rays of sunshine. it was taking everything in her to not butt-in with a useless mean girls quote ( I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy ) and erase the hostility that had been rapidly building. " so... no seance?? " her hand fell back to her side, disappointed yet not surprised that her suggestion had been flippantly tossed aside ( listen to the clairvoyant during a ghostly attack?? preposterous. ). " for gosh sake!! just tell us what's in the notebook. cliffhanger's may be exciting for, like, movies, but now is not the time to leave us on the edge of our seats. i'm all for pointing fingers at cristian- no offense, dude- but i'd at least like to get an idea of what i'm blaming him for. "
micah.-Today at 9:20 PM
the reaction was almost instantaneous. any humor or panic micah felt was sapped the moment julian stepped towards cristian. the second he put his hands on cristian, micah stepped between them, putting a hand on julian's chest to keep him back. "this is me trying to be nice. fuck off." he looked at naomi, who looked scared shitless, then to lana. "this suspense is getting old. can you just tell us what's in the book and who's on the phone, so we can leave?" he already had a problem with being trapped down here, and absolutely none of this was helping.
lana.-Today at 9:28 PM
she stood behind naomi, not moving a muscle. lana didn't exactly know what to make of the situation and she sure as hell didn't know how to explain what was in that notebook. the only thing that was certain was something weird was going on with cristian. this would usually be about one of those times where she would add some snide remark, but she had a better idea. "cristian," she composed herself and nodded towards the exit, "open the door."(edited)
naomi.-Today at 9:34 PM
part of naomi hoped that julian would actually beat cristian's ass. "there's a picture of cristian at silverwood in there." she spoke out in a monotone voice. "even though he said he hadn't been there that night. explain that photo to us, cris. did the ghosts photoshop it or what? what bullshit ass excuse do you have this time?!"
cristian.-Today at 10:02 PM
with intentions of shutting the book before anyone could see, cristian bit his lip anxiously, however before he could do anything, he felt the object in his hands disappear from his possession, his heart sinking the minute he realized it had been naomi. her words immediately sliced into him, his eyes widening as his gaze haphazardly jumped across the room -- everyone’s faces leaving him without words. “ i-uh, ” he started, unsure of what to do or say, the only thing running through his mind at the moment being a whole line of curse words. that was until he felt a pressure on his chest, the force pushing him back and julian’s tone hitting him just as hard. “ jesus, nothing ! you don’t know the whole fucking story, okay? ” he finally choked out in argument, dodging micah’s frame between them and giving julian a strong push back. if it hadn’t been for naomi’s voice speaking up again, things might have gotten even more heated, but cristian shook his head and turned away. “ i was fucking possessed, naomi. i don’t know how the fuck that photo got there or who the fuck took it, but do you really think i know what i was doing? ” and in a sense, he did know, but on the other hand, he really didn’t. cristian hadn’t been the same ever since that night, feeling a certain darkness to him ever since, but he couldn’t just tell everyone that. could he? what he was certain of was that everything he had worried would happen was actually beginning to come to light, and it was hurting more than he thought. he didn’t know what to do, but he couldn’t stay there a minute longer, it was too much -- too much to explain and definitely too much to handle in one night. so, without another thought,  he suddenly turned to lana and narrowed his eyes, “ gladly. ” cristian swivelled around, making his way through everyone, knocking a few shoulders out of the way. he was eager to get the hell out of there. once at the door, he grabbed the handle with a push. and like that . . it opened.
julian.-Today at 10:21 PM
there were two forces that pushed against him, both of them stronger than him, but Julian held his ground as best he could. his hands were balled together in fists at his side, having to take a couple deep breaths while cristian spoke. but his eyes weren’t watching the darker of the boys–he was more-so watching micah, waiting for the boy to launch himself at julian again. he was too agitated to even roll his eyes at the bullshit that cristian was giving them all. when he walked up to the door, julian didn’t dare leave his stance, but did turn to watch him open the door right up. his jaw clenched. “what kind of sick joke are you playing, cristian? locking everybody up in here?" knowing micah was only a foot or two away kept him from moving. "it's fucked up," the last comment was made in a huff, his words not as strong as before.
lana.-Today at 10:37 PM
lana's mouth dropped when she saw cristian open the door with ease. for some god forsaken reason, it made her laugh. like julian said, this whole incident was fucked up, but it was like living in some fanfiction that ashley found on twitter. she couldn't believe it. "i knew it," lana shook her head as she finally walked around naomi to get closer to the door. as much as she wanted to convince herself that it was cristian playing a joke on them, she still had a thought in the back of her head that forced to her consider that it could have been something more sinister. that notebook did fly off the shelf by itself, after all. "okay, how about we all get the fuck out of here and then we can interrogate the culprit somewhere that isn't infested with the memories of those who croaked?"(edited)
ashley.-Today at 10:43 PM
"wait, am i fucking a demon?"
trevor.-Today at 10:49 PM
trevor glanced over at ashley as she commented that she was the demon. he was never own the judge so he just assumed she was joking, a forced chuckle escaping his lips as his tight grip on elijah's arm tightened even more. " as much as i love you ash ash babes, im  bit concerned we might fucking die tonight so lets leave please - i swear if  someone walks down that door im gonna fucking die - do you want that ? " trevor asked he was attached to eli's side. " do you want me to fucking die? everyone but isaiah respond. "
bryce.-Today at 11:00 PM
"let's just go. we can talk about it upstairs where we can't possibly get locked in again -- and no, trevor, no one wants you to die." hearing what was in the notebook, bryce had felt tired and he let his shoulders fall, the hand holding the phone hanging by his side. on a good day, it was hard enough not to think about silverwood. to have it shoved in their faces now of all times? it was pretty fucking awful. it would have been nice to be able to say that things had gone back to normal after what had happened. too bad ‘nice’ wasn’t a label given to the mysterybusters, and the only normal they were was paranormal. was he angry at cristian? for silverwood, he’d claim that he had moved past it. for today? bryce couldn’t help but shoot a glare at cristian and mutter, “not cool, dude,” as he walked by. he didn’t know how cristian managed to lock them all down there and frankly he didn’t care. once they were all upstairs again (finally), he plopped down into one of the chairs, grabbing one of the bag of chips they had been snacking on before their misadventure. he had eaten a handful, a few minutes passing before he exclaimed, "oh!" there was a moment of silence as he walked over to ashley, handing her the phone. “before i forget to tell you all -- i clearly remember that i had to answer that terrifying phone call and then all of a sudden you forget about it. thanks for that, guys.” he paused before shrugging his shoulders, “it was only daniel. he says hi and sends his love — kidding on that last part — but he says sorry for missing the meeting. i let him know that the next time he uses *67 i might mcfreakin’ lose it. fair warning to everyone.”
