I may get into the ask box or I may disappear for another 4 years.
but for now
The Seven Deadly Dungeons and Dragons
I don’t play DND but my girlfriend does and she’s sitting next to me so let’s go
-In this AU they’re all normal humans who just get together and play DND sometimes.
-Merlin is the DM.
-Merlin sits for hours writing all sorts of lore and intricate backstories only for them to commit their classic chaotic shenanigans and screw with all her plans. Luckily, she’s good at thinking on the fly.
-Meliodas plays as a halfling paladin from a noble background. His character’s goal is to get information and find his brother.
-Diane plays as a half elf barbarian (my gf thinks this is contradictory but in a fun way) (“she’s too pretty to be a half orc 🥺”)
-Her goal is to find her sisters murderer and bring them to justice.
-Ban would play a tiefling rogue. His goal is to revive his dead lover (Elaine is alive but she thinks DND is ‘nerd shit’ so she just stays at their home. sometimes she’ll come and watch them though)
-King would play a gnome cleric. He is from the fae realm however it recently got raided and he is seeking revenge from the perpetrators.
-Gowther would play as an automaton wizard. His goal is to find out what happened to his creator and gain a heart.
-Escanor would play as a half orc barbarian (when he rages it’s like his daytime form when he’s normal it’s his nightform)
-His goal is simply to find friends who don’t think he’s strange and he simply goes along with the gang because he feels accepted.
-Elizabeth would play as a aasimar cleric. Her character writes stories and is going on the adventure simply to find inspiration.
-They all gather together and play in Escanor’s basement. He makes a little food spread. They don’t appreciate him enough honestly.
-Escanor and King are chronic note takers. They have notebooks full of the lore.
-Diane also writes notes but she writes them aesthetically like
Liones is the country we live in
and highlights it in pastel. She never writes down useful information and spells everything wrong. King usually helps her with his notes.
-Ban forgets everything lore wise and all of his abilities. He never knows when he can use sneak attack and keeps getting in trouble for trying to pick pocket his party.
-“I just think it’d be funny if he wasn’t actually a good rogue because he’s so big”
-Gowther would keep getting the party in trouble by using dunamancy on random NPCs. Merlin is sick of his shit and having to rewrite the plot of her campaigns.
-Meliodas always has weirdly good roles. They have investigated whether his dice are rigged and they’re not he’s just crazy lucky.
-Elizabeth would put a lot of thought into her characters backstory and motives. She would have a very thought out lore.
-Hawk is Escanor’s cat that they all loved so much that they put him in the game as a pig that can eat ranged attacks if a 20 is rolled and also is immune to poison
-Gowther tries to romance every npc. He rolls nat 20 for every persuasion check and Merlin has to let him have the most rizz in game.
-The party all met in the Boar Hat and decided to help each other reach their goals.
-In this canon the Boar Hat can also move. Meliodas has a spell that can create the Boar Hat to be constructed infront of him.
-They all met in real life because Merlin works with Escanor and they got talking about it and she was like “Hold up let me bring my friend Gowther” and then Gowther invited Meliodas who then invited his girlfriend Elizabeth and best friend Ban and then Ban was like “Hold up we need this dude too” and invited King and King’s girlfriend was like “Omg i wanna join” yeah
-King would paint a lot of miniatures
-Elizabeth would be a dice fiend. She would have so many dice and a cute bag for them.
-Meliodas and Ban both use the same pair of black dice that have chipped paint. They just pull these crusty dice from their pockets. The numbers are barely legible anymore.
-Merlin makes her own dice out of resin and sells them on etsy.

Arthur Pendragon of Camelot (7Deadly Sins) Head Canons
This is my first attempt at writing headcanons. I've recently been rewatching the anime Seven Deadly Sins and have grown fond of King Arthur. After giving his character some thought this is what I came up with.
Tumblr media
Has a strong passion for adventure. Likes to travel and find new discoveries.
Although he is very skilled with the sword and receives praise for it. He sometimes has doubts in his abilities and doesn't think he's all that great because he's yet to awaken his true potential.
Appreciates Merlin for her guidance, training, and staying by his side. Sometimes he wishes she'd let him have some space. He knows that she means well and is only looking out for his well being; but he wants the opportunity to be able to prove himself all on his own.
Looks up to Merlin for her wisdom, strength, feats, battle strategies, and abilities.
Cringes whenever others get the wrong idea about his relationship with Merlin. He has acknowledged her beauty and wit; however he just can't come to view her in a romantic or intimate light. It's simply because she's the only person he's ever had close to a maternal figure.
Has had a few moments where he almost had a slip of the tongue calling Merlin his Mother.
Is unaware of Escanor's jealousy towards him. Has tried to make small talk with him before but failed. When he finally got a break through he found delight in conversation and was given new combat tips.
He actually looks up to the Lion Sin in ways similar to how he looks up to Merlin.
Enjoys hearing Escanor recite his poetry during the evening time when ever the sins gather for drinks and food.
Secretly ships Merlin with Escanor. He has never seen her involved with any one before. However after seeing how fond the Lion Sin is of her, Arthur began to root for the tall, burly man in hopes that he'd win the Boar Sin over. If he wanted to see his mentor happy with anyone it would be Escanor.
Has nightmares about Cath from time to time. He's too proud to tell Merlin and sometimes has trouble going back to sleep when ever he has one.
Will get triggered when seeing a domestic cat walking towards him or within his vision in general. He's aware that their harmless, but the very sight of one reminds him of how Cath resembled an innocent animal and then transformed into a vicious bloodthirsty creature.

Modern nnt Au headcanons I’ll be using in my upcoming fic:
Part 1
• The Bandits
- He lives with Zhivago, his adoptive dad. Zhivago’s oldest son is right now at university in Belgium.
- Ban’s biological parents are from Argentina (yay Latinos). He maintains the language as Zhivago is Latino too (Puerto-Rican).
-When Ban was young his parents abused of him and his little sister, after her passing away someone unknown called Cps on his parents and as they didn’t have any close relatives he entered the system when he was 10.
-Long story -short (I’ll explain in the fic) Zhivago ended up adopting him.
• The Demons
-Derieri is the cool cousin.
- Galand and Melascula are the cool uncles.
- Meliodas is short, just short. He just stopped growing at 14.
- Genetics run strong in the family and Zeldris didn’t grow as much as well. Btw he had an emo fase when he was 13-15, Meliodas jokes that that fase isn’t over cause he continues to dye his hair black (yes he is natural blonde). The truth reason behind this is that people mixed the brothers up a lot of times and Zeldris didn’t like that.
-They have that dynamic of troublemaker brother and responsible brother going on, you know which one is each. Mel is two years older than Zel.
- Big BIG family, Christmas is wild.
-Mel and Zel’s mom was German, they know German for that reason. He died in a car crash when they were very young.
(I have more but I’ll make a part 2 probably, so...)
• The Mages
- Gowther and Merlin have two cats (Meldor and Chaos)
- Merlin rides a motorcycle. I dunno the model yet, perhaps a Liberty but I wanted something more... More, you know? (The motorcycle is black btw).
-They live with Gowther’s single-father Gowther, who’s also Merlin’s uncle (Merlin is living with them cause his father is no longer in the picture and her mother passed away, Gowther sir decided to take care of her). Gowther’s mom passed away during childbirth, lots of trauma assured.
-Gowther sir’s father was Japanese, they talk in Japanese at home because he thinks it’s important to know more than one language and because it’s a part of his identity he wants to show his kids.
-And Yes, Gowther sir is cousin of Mel’s father by part of his mother.
• The Giants
-Diane is one of those kids who goes to a thousand extracular classes relating to dancing, corporal expression and sports (like gymnastics). Overall a very sportsy person.
-Matrona works as a gym trainer, she’s Diane’s oldest sister who has already finished a master in sports and health (Diane visits her at the gym).
-Dolores is Diane’s youngest sister, doesn’t like sports very much but likes playing the drums (Diane also plays the drums).
- They live with their (single) uncle Drole after their parents passed away years ago.
Ok I’m finishing this here, I’ll make the rest (Faeries, knights, Liones family, Escanor, Arthur, etc). If it goes as planned if I manage to finish the fic I want to make an extra for 4kota but we’ll see.
This is useful to me to remember everything I want to write down. Also this are my headcanons but you can use them or add anything as well, It would be awesome to see any of your ideas.

Ok so… imagine a enemy decides to wearing the sins by turning them all into kids. Now, if the sins only three are unaffected. Merlin, King, and Gowther. Mainly cuz all of them are more or less ageless in some capacity or already kids. The other sins have no memories about being anything but children, they don’t know each other, they just woke up in some random human kingdom. Diane and Elizabeth immediately start making flower crowns together, Ban stole Hawk’s food bowl, Escanor cries, and it took an hour before anyone found Meliodas because he was clinging to the rafters in the darkest corner he could get and was spitting and hissjng like a cat at anyone who came close. Ages are
Diane: 9 (in giant years)
Elizabeth: 6
Ban: 8
Meliodas: 5 (in demon years)
Escanor: 12
Meliodas looks very different as a toddler because demons can’t control their darkness very well so he’s basically walking around in all fours with clawed hands and feet like a mini Assualt Mode Meliodas and has a pair of wings on his back. One eye is green and the other is black. He is very much the most aggressive and feral of the children due to the abuse the DK put him through making him believe he has to be “mean” or else he’ll get in trouble. Ban immediately adopts him.
that’s so cute!!
Meliodas had to be picked from the rafters by Gil, because he was the only one brave enough. Anyone else who tried got swiped very badly, and even has a child he’s ridiculously strong (remember that one manga cover? Actually, that was probably what you were thinking about when you sent this ask XD ) And Mel immediately jumped Gils hands and floated down, flapping his wings, then hid somewhere else.
Or he would have, when he ran face first into Ban, who just got away from Hawk with his haul. Mel hisses, very much looking like a cat, and Ban hisses back. Then laughs because “this one is fun!” and offers him some of his haul. Mel goes for the meat in an instant, and while he’s distracted with that, Ban picks him up. Mel swallows what he has and then swipes at Ban to let him go. Ban drops him and Mel runs off, Ban follows.
Everyone chases after Ban and Mel, because holy fuck, they cannot let a tiny thief and a demon child walk around with no supervision, what if someone tries to pick Mel up and gets mauled-
Baltra lowkey cries, both out of distress but also because his youngest is a child again and that’s just too adorable. Eli gives him one of her flower crowns, and Escanor also gets one (Eli or Diane) and it calms him down a little.
Ban is caught easily enough, but Mel is way trickier, because he has no issues with going up walls. He’s in one place one moment and the next he could out the window and climbing up the outside castle walls for all he knows! In the end, it takes the knight trio and Merlin to track him down. Merlin has to pick him up with her magic, because he swipes at everyone, and Gowther uses his blackout arrow to get him to sleep for safe transport. When he’s asleep, his darkness also calms down a little, looking just a tiny bit less sharp, and he’s so adorable that everyone coos at his sleeping form.
Diane gets really attached to Kink, who also has to control himself like Baltra. His love is tiny and cute, and while she doesn’t remember him, his heart still can’t take all this cuteness.

Fairys Lost in Liones - Chapter One
Gajevy and Banlaine are my OTP's and I wanted to see a crossover between them and between Fairy Tail and Nanatsu no taizai, hope you enjoy!
Read on AO3 Here
Levy could feel aching and pain all over her body as she woke up from a deep sleep, she opened her eyes and shuffled sitting up on the bed, wincing as she did. Rubbing her eyes, she looked around the room expecting to see the guilds infirmary, but that didn’t seem to be the case in this situation. Instead of white sheets they were pink and instead of Mira or Wendy stood beside her tending to her wounds there was no one.
“Where am I?” She muttered out groggily, speaking to no one in particular but hoping that one of her guild mates would answer her. The nerves were beginning to creep in as the predicament she found herself in began to dawn on her, alone, injured, and unaware of where she was or how she got there; With each passing second more questions arose but no answers were there to comfort her.
She slowly got out of bed, being mindful of her injuries that seemed to encompass the majority of her body, she stretched out her body a little hoping to ease some of the tension she was feeling both inside and out, she took another quick scan around the brightly coloured rustic bedroom that for the life of her she could not recognise, she was hoping it would be a guildmates bedroom or something like that but she didn’t think so, the whole place just felt a little… off.
It was at that moment that she realised two things A) She was covered in neatly wrapped bandages, so she assumed that whoever brought her here was friendly and B) That she was wearing an outfit that was more befitting of Lucy! a tight pink t-shirt that ended at her waist, the smallest blue mini skirt and belt, and one long blue sock. Not her typical state of dress however she was more concerned about who dressed her.
Then it hit her, Gajeel, Pantherlily, Jet and Droy were all with her, the last thing she could remember was all of them heading out on a mission together, which she had just about managed to drag Gajeel onto. Are they here? Are they ok? A loud commotion from downstairs disrupted her train of thought, it sounded like a lot of people, maybe that was them. Even if not she would still have to leave the room at some point, so that’s what she did. Creeping down the stairway the ruckus got louder, people yelling and cheering maybe, but none of them sounded like any of her boys.
Reaching the bottom of the stairway and rounding the corner, she shyly walked into what seemed like quite a nice little restaurant and bar. How odd. But what caught her eye the most was that she could see the group people she is assuming found her.
“Look who’s finally awake” Straining her neck looking up she came face to face, well face to chest, with a pair of red eyes with a devilish glint in them, the man was grinning down at her but it wasn’t malicious it seemed more playful which actually threw her off a little bit. She had to take two steps back just to look at him properly, how tall is this man!? she thought, he easily towered over her, even more than Gajeel did. And why on earth is he wearing an apron instead of a t-shirt?
Six pair of eyes scattered around the room were all on her waiting for her to say something, but her nervousness temporarily got the better of her, she didn’t recognise any of these people or the place and Gajeel was nowhere to be seen the whole situation was very unsettling for her, she wished she didn't have to do it alone.
“Ban don’t scare her! Don’t mind him my. name's Hawk captain of scraps disposal!” A large pig pushed past the man she now knew as Ban to speak with her. He seemed rather outgoing. She heard Ban mutter out a quick ‘Sorry Master’ This pig wasn’t in charge was he?
“Uh hi, my name's Levy Mcgarden, it…it’s nice to meet you Hawk” She was taken back by the fact there was a talking pig for only a moment before she composed herself again, deciding to ignore the part about scraps, she had bigger questions at the moment.
“You’re not surprised by the talking pig?” Ban asked incredulously whilst leaning against the bar and wrapping an arm around a small blonde girl with big golden eyes, seriously who are these people?
“I know a talking cat so no” He nodded at her, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
“I’m sorry but I’m so confused, who are you people?” She tried to remain polite but the whole situation was so strange.
“You don’t know? we’re the Seven Deadly Sins” A small blonde boy who seemed rather chipper then joined the conversation, but he also started groping a tall, beautiful white haired woman who kind of reminded her of Mira. The girl blushed but didn’t do anything. Levy immediately averted her eyes and decided to talk into the void instead as to avoid the embarrassing scene.
“Who?” Ok so the name ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ did not put here at ease. And she had never heard of them before, is that some sort of guild name perhaps?
“You’re not from around here are you” Another small brunette boy joined in with a deadpan tone, it wasn’t exactly a question more of an accusation. The blonde boy then introduced himself as Meliodas the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Dragon Sin of Wrath and gave a very brief description of what they were, although it was confusing, an order of Holy Knights for the kingdom of Liones and… criminals. As interesting as it was to hear it raised a lot more questions than it did answers.
“What? There is no place called Liones or Britannia and there are no Holy Knights”  She knew of every country on Earthland and she was sure that she was right about this, but she also didn’t think that they were lying, what is going on?
“Yes, there is and that’s where you are right now” Meliodas said keeping his voice light, she could not seem to tell what he was thinking and everyone else was just looking at her like she was crazy, which to be fair she could understand.
“OH! Gajeel, Jet, Droy and Pantherlily where are they!?” She suddenly burst out looking frantically around the room, they must know where they are, they would have been with her right; she couldn’t be out here all on her own.
“There was only one other person with you, tall, dark hair, angry looking guy. He’s going to be ok, but he’s hurt bad, he’s upstairs resting now” Meliodas told her pointing at the staircase then heading behind the bar.
“Oh thank Mavis Gajeels ok” She sighed letting out a breath of air she didn’t know she was holding in, but that didn’t make her feel completely better as the other three still weren’t accounted for “But are you sure there wasn’t any else with us? A ginger guy, a big guy with dark hair, and a small black cat with a sword maybe?” It was a desperate attempt; she knew it but she had to ask maybe they had seen them somewhere else on their travels.
“No but that last guy sounds cool!” Exclaimed Ban jumping up a little, the blonde girl patted him on the shoulder and giggled signalling for him to cool down a little bit, which he did.
Worry took over her then, where on Earthland could they be? she hoped they were ok, with any luck they were still in Magnolia.
“You must be starving” The White-haired girl approached her and ushered her to sit down at the bar, they sat beside each other, and the blonde girl sat on the other side of her. “Ban why don’t you get started on some supper for everyone, the others should be back soon” Meliodas told Ban whilst he started fixing up some drinks for everyone.
The White haired girl accepted the drinks and divided them amongst the three girls “My name is Princess Elizabeth but don’t worry you don’t have to be formal with me” She smiled brightly at her and it actually did make Levy feel a bit better.
“Wow a Princess are you sure I feel like I should bow” Elizabeth giggled at that and shook her head.
“And my name is Elaine, I’m from the Fairy kings Forest '' There was something about Elaine that she couldn’t quite figure out, she looked young like Wendy, but her eyes gave her away she looked wise beyond her years.
“Ha that’s funny I’m from the Fairy Tail guild”
“You’re a fairy too!?” She beamed with excitement practically bouncing out of her seat.
“Are you a fairy!?” Shocked beyond belief this girl seemed genuine when she said too so that must mean…no. This doesn’t make any sense, she can’t be a fairy, this day just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
“Yes…why are you surprised?”
The guild wasn’t going to believe this, if this was real then she had just discovered actual Fairy’s, just imagining everyone’s faces when she told made her laugh internally.
“I’m sorry I know this might sound ridiculous, but you don’t have a tail do you?”
“No we don’t have tails! are you crazy?” The brunette boy shouted from the cushion he was currently laying on in the air, ok so that was a little weird. But now she could tell everyone the answer to the age-old question on whether Fairies have Tails or not, this was an amazing day, well if you don’t include everything else that has happened.
With everyone in the room looking at her like she was out of her mind she started to explain why she had asked, she told them about the guild and Fiory, hopefully they might be able to fill in some of the gaps that she was missing. They told her that they had no idea what she was going on about which by now wasn’t that surprising, but they said a mage called Merlin may be able to help, they would just have to wait for her to return. Apparently there were still a few people missing called Merlin, Escanor, Diane and Gowther.
Dinner was almost ready for everyone so she decided she should head up and check on Gajeel just to make sure he was alright.
“LEVY!” Everyone stopped at the sound of a fierce roar coming from upstairs, he rushed downstairs clearly ignoring any pain and each thud of his descent was getting closer and closer. Rounding the corner they locked eyes and he marched up to her gently grabbing her shoulders and checking her over noticing the many bandages, his eyes looked panicked and she could tell that unlike her the moment he awoke he leaped out of bed and instead of waiting to try and piece together what was going on he immediately went on a hunt.
“Are you alright?” He asked, staring at her. After a moment he realised how close they were and stepped back and let go of her shoulders opting to scratch the back of his head and look away from her to alleviate some of the awkwardness, she noticed a very light blush on his cheeks but passed it of as a reaction to all the adrenaline coursing through his system. She nodded and hoped that he didn’t see her light blush either though, but of course it was only because of the adrenaline
“Where’s Pantherlily and the two morons?” And who are all these people?” He motioned to everyone else in the room who were still looking at them intently, seeming a bit put off by the silence of the unknown presences.
She ignored his moron comment and then smiled thinking of introducing him to the new friends she had made, Elaine and Elizabeth were delightful and she didn’t know what to think of the guys yet, but they seemed alright too.
“These are the Seven Deadly Sins” levy gestured around the room and the girls and Meliodas waved, Ban nodded his head, and the brunette boy rolled his eyes.
“What the hell is that, a boy Band?” Gajeel asked mockingly, still seeming a bit Sceptical though.
“No but that would be cool” Meliodas shouted out from beside Liz and jumped up to look excitedly at Ban who also had a massive grin plastered over his face.
Gajeel however looked much like Levy did not too long ago as hearing that name didn’t really clear anything up. Oh well she had plenty of time to explain things to him in more detail later, she couldn’t wait to tell him about the Fairy’s.
But as ok as things seemed at the moment they were still in a dire situation; was this the result of the Dark Guild they were going to face?

NNT Headcanons part 4 food gives me ideas
Mel and Elaine bond over their love of spicy food. And scream and run when they try to add spice to the stuff Ban is cooking and get threatened. They’re very good friends
Helbram used to play the lute, King would play the lyre and Elaine would play the flute in their spare time. While occasionally singing and dancing along. *Sigh* Those were the days.
Favoritteee colour tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime
This one took me way too long to get to
Mel- Emerald Green
Zel- Merlot
Ban- Maroon
King- Aqua blue
Diane- Rose Gold
Gelda- Platinum
Elaine- Dandelion
Merlin- Dark Purple
Escanor- Gold
Gowther- Magenta
Elizabeth- Mauve
Ban and Mel have regular drinking competitions. Either to see who can down more without getting even a little tipsy(Mel wins those) or who can chug one faster(Ban wins those)
Zel and Elizabeth are besties. While he won’t admit it, everyone knows. When he’s having a bad day she’ll just be like sitting a table and he’ll stomp his way over to her, plop himself down, then lean his head on her shoulder
“Bad day?” “You wouldn’t fucking believe.”
Zel has trouble celebrating his bday since back in ye olden days Mel would just brush it off or straight up forget and it made him the big sad™
So they all throw him a surprise one after everything and Mel gets him two of the best gifts in the world. The biggest collection of teas he could find and an apology.
Zel called his tears from that day “Liquid Pride”
MORE ZEL HEADCANONS
Modern au, he has a coffee like addiction to Boba tea. It started because the woman who made it at the cafe made him swoon(Gelda, duh) but then he also grew a strong love for the drink itself.
Like the lovesick puppy he is
I just realized I kinda flipped the idea. For Mel and Elizabeth, they seem like the coffee shop au since they legit run a bar but no THEY’RE the band au. And Zel and Gelda are the coffee shop au
Merlin has been banned from doing experiments in the bar or on the road. She nearly killed King one day and then he declared it off limits
Fav ANIMAL tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimmmmmmeeeeee
Mel- Parakeets
Zel- Cats
Ban- White snakes
King- Dogs
Diane- Netherland Dwarf Rabbits
Gelda- Fruit Bats
Elaine- Maine coons
Merlin- Chinchillas
Escanor- Hamsters
Gowther- Hedgehogs
Elizabeth- Serval
Post potentially apocalyptic adventure sleepover and hugs!!!
They all hug after the battles and probably cry a little(a lot) and then they move all the tables out of the way, throw a shit ton of blankets and pillows onto the floor of the bar, and they cuddle and sleep
Oh and they make like hot chocolate and pastries to put in the center. And they close the bar the next day
This one time Mel hadn’t been able to sleep so he was up really early and was cleaning the bar while singing “Lavender’s Blue” and Merlin had started to come down the stairs and stopped upon hearing him, and silenced everyone who came down the steps and they all just kinda listen
He notices then when he stops and goes to put everything away and he’s just like “y’all wtf” why are they cramped up on the stairs on the verge of tears
No one talks about how pretty he sounds
Thought I’d come over and fix that

I repeat; No I don’t take constructive criticism
Zel makes fun of Mel for his height difference with Elizabeth, all the while Gelda has 3 more inches on Elizabeth. So.

My Thoughts on Seven Deadly Sins Ending
Warning the text below is my opinion and nothing more on the ending of the Manga known as The Seven Deadly Sins and what has lead up to it, if you disagree with what I have to say that’s fine, but please do not do personally attacks. That said Seven Deadly Sins has ended after releasing its final Chapter on Tuesday after 8 years of publication. On to my thoughts well… honestly, I didn’t feel anything. No satisfaction, no anger or Sadness. I just felt nothing. I had been reading this manga for 4 years and with each passing year my interest in the series just waned down, till finally I stopped caring.
I still remember how I got into the series by watching the anime on Netflix which got me hooked on the series with Elizabeth, Meliodas and the talking pig Hawk trying to gather the seven deadly sins in order fight the corrupted order of holy knights, then went to the manga for more content because there was only 1 season in which I saw the seven deadly sisn face the demon clans strongest warriors the ten commandments. I got into the manga just when the Great Fight Festival arc was closing and Meliodas was killed. In some sense probably after that is were I felt the series started to decline as the Defensive Battle for Liones arc which started right after ended up bringing Meliodas back rather quickly (though timewise in manga it was a gap of few months) about half the ten Commandments appeared to have been defeated rather quickly despite over 70+ chapters of build-up.
Granted there was still great moments in it, Escanor vs Estarossa & Escanorr vs Meliodas are probably my favourite one on one battles, the growing darkness in Meliodas was promising at least and I’d enjoyed seeing the 4 archangels vs the ten commandments in the Memories of the Holy War arc. But afterwards it was becoming clear that a few of the standard problems with a weekly shonen battle manga tend to have was starting to happen with the Series such as: ever increasing power levels leading side character and even some main character like Ban being left behind, redemption arcs for half the bad guys (This happening to Drole, Gloxinia and Derieri) turning good only to be killed by more powerful enemies an arc later even they barley had time to be portrayed as villains and complicated lore which repeatedly got retconned to fit the current direction the plot was going was.
I’d say during the New Holy War arc was these problems were hard to ignore. Now granted the set was good at least, you had had the seven deadly sins lead by Elizabeth in the absence of Meliodas & the Holy Knights teaming up with the revived archangels into a group called Stigma against the Demon Clan lead by Melodias’s brother Zeldris and their mentors Chandler & Cusack. With the aim to destroy the Demon Clan and rescue Meliodas before he becomes the next Demon King by gathering all the ten commandments powers. Meanwhile you have Estarossa Searching for the Ten Commandments for his own purpose and well as mysterious past with Elizabeth and the final Archangel Mael.
Now the first problem was due to the fact at this point the other 8 Commandments who weren’t Zeledris and Estarossa were either beaten or no longer villains, meant you had no known named bad guys to fight against the sins, holy knights & archangels so you had pretty much the first wave was Stigma against demon clans henchmen. So that ended rather quickly showing off the powers of the sins & archangels, with a few holy knights standing out particularly the ones powered up by the Goddess clan as there were really no threating enemies. Granted this changed when Estarossa came in chasing Derieri after killing her partner Monspeet taking his commandment and began fighting against the archangels Sariel & Tarmiel with the power of three commandments (Galand’s being the third after he killed him, which I thought was a waste as I’d hoped he have a rematch with Ban).
Everything with Estarossa I’d say was great, the battle against the Archangels, the revelation that he was actually the archangel Meal who once possessed Escanor’s powers but had his memories manipulated by the original Gowther was executed perfectly. The and the final fight against him in which you had the seven deadly sins, the archangels Sariel & Tarmiel and Derieri fight and try to save him as he gets consumed by the power of commandments he has in his possession, from his grief for what he had done as Estarossa and anger at feels at Gowther for what his creator had done to him. Resulting in the deaths of Sariel, Tarmiel and Derieri stealing her commandment, to then being defeated by a newly powered up King after Olso gave his live to protect him. Then being brought back into the light after Mael learnt from Gwother that the reason why the original Gowther chose him to be Estarossa was because Mael had killed his lover. In many ways I felt the Estarossa/Mael plotline was bettet handle than the Obito plotline in Naruto.
Other things just I’d enjoyed in the war arc was Meliodas’s Emtions/goodside and Ban’s time with Hawk’s Brother Wild as well as Escanor, Merlin Ludociel, Hendrickson & Gilthunder vs Zeldris, Chandler & Cusack (granted Hendrickson and Gilthunder were more background characters really). However after that the arc goes downhill and gets messy as it’s revealed that whoever gets the power of all ten commandments doesn’t become the new demon king but gets possessed by him, as the final battle in the arc becomes the seven deadly sins, the two remain archangels and Zeledris vs The Demon King, most of it being inside Meliodas’s mind. The Battle feels very anticlimactic but ends on a bittersweet note with Ludociel dying afterwards and becoming clear that Meliodas can’t stay much longer now that he has the powers of the Demon King.
I think the series would have been fine ending after that, but Nakaba Suzuki the mangaka ends up being a troll by having Elizabeth still cursed as the demon King Survived after taking over Zeldris and now the Sins have the save him with the help of his Vampire lover Gelda. The battle is overdrawn out but ends once again on a bittersweet note as Escanor dies after overexposure to the ability sunshine. But even then, the series is not over and now you have Arthur a character who was killed a few arcs back is revived by Merlin so he can becomes the new lord of chaos but he chased by a monster cat called Cath who wants to eat him so he can have the power. By that point I just stopped caring as it was dealt with so quickly like an afterthought.
So, we ended up with an ending that while nice that the sins have all gotten together with their respective couples, everything else feels like it was either resolved off screen or forgotten about. I’m wondering what has happened to Merlin as she isn’t in the final chapters for some reason, neither when the sins depart or reunite for Meliodas and Elizabeth’s son’s birthday.
In many ways Seven Deadly Sins is the third manga that’s ended on a disappointing note for me, but unlike Naruto where is has gotten me really angry about how it ended or Bleach really sad with how it ended, I feel nothing for how Seven Deadly Sins ended. Which is a shame as for while this manga while it was coming out on the same day as Fairy Tail’s chapters I’d often used as something to enjoy when Fairy Tail had one of it’s more infamous moments (though I will admit I did like the final chapter and the Squeal series 100 Year Quest is really good), but now in some ways it ended being more disappointing than Fairy Tail.
It had some great characters such as Ban & Escanor with some memorable battles like the ones I mentioned above and a pretty good anime (at least first 2 seasons as I hear the 3rd budget is really poor), but it got too ridiculous in it’s plots past the first saga maybe even the second , couldn’t figure out which bad guy to end on and perhaps focused too much on the shipping side. Granted I know it will be getting a Spin off/sequel series called Four Knights of the Apocalypse and I will check it out. I just hope it can recapture the enthusiasm I had for the world of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Spring 2018 Anime Final Review
So, uh, this is six months late. I’ve had half of this post in my drafts forever. To make it short, as I’ve mentioned previously, mom lost her job, which has not only been a heavy hit to my sense of stability for the last six months, but also means my time to watch anime was seriously reduced and even now a slight change of plans fucks up my whole schedule and sets me back for a full week. Anyway, nobody cares about any of these shows anymore so let’s get straight to it? I’m gonna ommit the two-cours that continued into the Summer - hopefully I’ll be able to make that post soonish? idk. Worst to best, same as usual
The crappy gender politics pit of shame
Darling in the FRANXX: I think everyone has ripped this show to threads at this point and there isn’t much I could add to that. It is quite funny to me to see how many people flipped out when the show went completely bananas in its last few episodes. Feels a bit like KADO, I’ve been telling y’all this was a ton of empty crap since episode 2, it just took the writing to completely self-destruct for everyone else to notice. A part of me feels tempted to do a long post breaking down just how badly the show collapsed in its final shebang, specifically how every single twist and turn completely nulled any remote kind of message or central thesis the show may have had, but at the same time it doesn’t seem worth the time. In the end, I may have given What is Internal Consistency, The anime way too much credit. It’s not hateful antigay propaganda, it’s just dumb as shits, with a writer and creators who didn’t think for half a second of the implications of what they were doing, and who were so incompetent they couldn’t even conserve the minimal plot and character coherency within a single episode, let alone 24. In other words, Darling isn’t saying “gays shouldn’t exist” but “I have no idea of anything regarding gay people”. What makes it egregious is that the show spent so much time acting like it was “meaningful” and “important” and yet it ended saying absolutely fucking nothing. Except mayb “have babies”. Down to oblivion you go, along with the likes of KADO, to the void of shows that couldn’t even be offensively bad and no one will remember a year from now. Bonus garbage points for the half-assed “bury your gays”.
Tumblr media
Nil of Libra Admirari or whatever this show was called: I’m not trying to diss on the show, I just genuinely never remember the title because I have the JP and EN all mixed up. Not that it matters much, as far as I could tell, the show could call Shalabalabatuna and it would have the same significance in regard to the content. But the title isn’t important. In fact, it may be a bit unfair to have this show in this section. For the most part, Main Girl is very self-determined and has an active role in the story.... but then the last two episodes heavily featured a lot of rape threats or rape themes and forced pregnancy (real and threat) and I don’t really understand why they’d go there all of a sudden. One of them was treated relatively well, even empowering the victim in the process, but when the ikemen bad guy was rambling endlessly about how he wanted to impregnate the protagonist it really turned me off :/ I’m also not a fan of “main boy was her secret fiancé all along”, but at least they also handled that somewhat decently. It’s a very disposable series, but since I watched all of Amnesia, I think I owe every otoge adaptation at least the smallest chance to clear that very low bar, and Libra of Nil does it, more competently than most other stuff in the same genre.
Tumblr media
Hisone to Masotan: I really, really wanted to love this show. Even now, as I put it in the pit of shame category, I’m pained. There was a good show in this, and a lot of it made it to the screen: an adorable, charming little story about a woman finding her place in the world, making new friends, finding her calling and bonding with an adorable dragon. Unfortunately, it got buried down under this opressing, horrendous gender politics that tried to do something with bringing attention to sexism in the military only to cancel it out making the one dude that embodied that sexism getting rewarded with the affections of a girl he explicitly tried to crush. It also called back on the virgin or whore fallacy and even managed to shove in a “bury your gays” trope. Even though Hisone challenges the ritual bullshit, it’s too little, too late, and she does end up carrying it out anyway, so the defiance to the status quo is of little importance in terms of problematizing the ritual itself. Sorry BONES, it wasn’t meant to be this time.
Tumblr media
The ni fu ni fa section
Ni fu ni fa is a Mexican colloquialism for “It was okay but it didn’t change my life.”
Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu HAPPY KISS: This soft reboot of the franchise had some really great episodes and did an actually good job of developping its characters. For the most part, it achieved what its predecessor did in terms of satirical comedy and I enjoyed it quite a bit. However, what bunked it down so low in the list was the final episode. At some point, the writers forgot they were doing a parody and made the show somewhat self-serious, way closer in tone to the magical girl anime it was supposed to be making fun of, rather than the satire its predecessor was. Whereas S1 ended with the whole Magical boy stuff being revealed as a crappy space reality TV show, this one ended with a real cheesy conflict about happiness and family and blablabla. Which is not bad by itself if this were a Precure show, but that kind of self-serious plot development just didn’t work for this series. I still enjoyed it, and the fanservice episode is one of the best of the whole franchise, but I’m a bit sad the finale missed the mark so badly.
Tumblr media
Hinamatsuri: Hinamatsuri was very hit-or-miss for me. There were some truly brilliant episodes, a lot of funny vignettes and heart-warming stories, and then there was some stuff that made me uncomfortable -like every single Hitomi story- or felt unnecessary and dry. It also threw me off that the superpower dynamic completely disappeared in the second half of the show, especially in Anzu’s part of the story. It was okay but I feel like I needed something that felt like a closing, and choosing to end it with Mao who featured very minimally in the show overall didn’t cut it. It’s a fun show, I’d reccommend people check it out, but it felt a bit too disjointed for me
Tumblr media
Persona 5: The Animation: This is a hard show to place because I love the looks of it and I think the concept is interesting and pretty cool, but there is something that’s keeping me from connecting emotionally to the story. The part where changing the villains’ heart makes them repent from their sins and become “good” feels very artificial and very tasteless when you’re dealing with rapists and abusers. I ended dropping it at episode 16, I just couldn’t find the motivation to catch up with the 6 episodes i’d fallen behind on because my schedule is a tragedy
Tumblr media
Tokyo Ghoul: Re: I guess it’s fair to say I’ve kind of outgrown Tokyo Ghoul. There’s something messy and confusing about how this season panned out, and there comes a point in which misery porn just doesn’t cut it anymore. I still watch because Ishida has a way to make every single goddamn character extremely sympathetic, which makes for an emotionally engaging viewing even when you’re not sure of what the plot is supposed to be or who you should be rooting for. I tried picking up the new season that just started airing and immediately found I had no idea of what was going on, who was on who’s side and in general, who the fuck were 90% of the characters, so I dropped it.
Tumblr media
Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu: I’ve mentioned it before, this second season had the opposite problem than the first one: the pace was too slow. It took more than half of it to get to Escanor, and then the season ends at a kind of random spot. I really thought we’d get further along on the story, since Gowther’s backstory was hinted at in the openings, but no such thing happened. They did manage to give us a variety of cool moments and fights, and I love Ban so his scenes with Zhivago and Elaine made me quite happy, though I really wish the romance between Elizabeth and Meliodas wasn’t su dubious and cringy. In light of some revelations that take place further along the manga, going out of their way to emphasize that Meliodas was a sort of mentor figure for Elizabeth when she was a toddler seems unncessary and just very squeamish. I do hope we get a third season though, and an OVA of the Vampires of whatever side story would be great too.
Tumblr media
Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori: I was pleasantly surprised by this show, and it’s closer to being one of my top of the season than it is to “meh”. It had some weaker, cheesier segments, but it also managed great whacky moments and a genuine soothing atmosphere. What surprised me most is that the vanilla looking cast of moderately handsome dudes managed to develop into interesting, funny individuals with a dynamic that made every episode enjoyable. A solid reccommendation for anyone wanting to see delicious looking food and moderately handsome dudes being ridiculous. Also, the cat episode is the best episode of anime ever produced.
Tumblr media
The I’m probably the only person alive who enjoys these shows
Mahou Shoujo Ore: This is a difficult show to place because it wasn’t quite as great as I wanted it to be and its parodic nature took me by surprise, but somehow I was still seriously entertained more often than not. The twists in the final quarter and the absolutely bonkers finale was a total riot, but I definitely advise caution before going in, given that some of the jokes may seem insensitive or in poor taste in regards to gender presentation, sexuality and there are even some mild harrassment jokes that certainly made me roll my eyes.
Tumblr media
Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line: I don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but I think through half of the show’s 25 episode run, I was convinced the title was actually Glory Road. It’s kind of anticlimactic that it’s called Glory Line if they don’t actually reach the final Goal btw. Anyway, I feel I say this a lot, but really, if you didn’t like the previous Yowapeda seasons, there’s nothing here for you, and if you did, you’re probably not gonna hop off this late in the game. This season does suffer from the same dragging than its predecessors, with the added issue of being quite pessimistic for no reason in about half the episodes, and a diminished presence for Onoda. I really wish they hadn’t dragged the Day 2 goal so long, I really hoped we’d see the end of the race, but no such luck I guess. Still love most of it and hope we get one more season or a movie to complete the story.
Tumblr media
The favorites of the season
Golden Kamuy: In spite of its pacing issues, terrible animation and general clunkiness, I can’t help but love this show. When season 1 ended my feelings for it had mellowed quite a bit, but as soon as I picked up season 2 this Fall I just fell in love all over again. It’s fun, unique, over-the-top in some ways, incredibly grounded in others, and the dynamics between the characters are incredibly charming.
Tumblr media
Hozuki no Reitetsu: It’s hard to talk about this one because it feels repetitive, given how tonally the show remains just the same across its three seasons. It could’ve very well been a one-season, 36 episode show, for how little it changes in spite of the time that transpired between the first season and the second. But in short, the comedy continues to be as spot on as always, the Zashikiwarashi twins are the best addition to the cast. It’s definitely a show I could watch endless episodes off, and the rare case of an episodic series with no overarching plot that I can enjoy wholeheartedly.
Tumblr media
Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card arc: Over the course of the series, I’ve expressed a few concerns and misgivings about how the story of this 20th anniversary sequel was playing out. The final episode was particularly troublesome in that it left the story unfinished in spite of deviating from the manga. In spite of this, more than anything I’m very happy that this continuation still retains what made the original so special, that they captured the magic behind Sakura’s “everything will be alright” spell and gave us the chance to spend more time with these beloved characters and see their stories continue. The slow but sweet development of Sakura and Syaoran’s puppy love is a definite highlight. Needs more Touya/Yukito and Yue in general.
Tumblr media
Piano no Mori: This show got heavily overlooked because it was kidnapped by Netflix (pls stop immediately), and then when it was finally unceremoniously dumped a month or two ago, it came under fire for the wonky CGI during the piano scenes -and it is indeed very wonky-. But beyond that, I found the story very engaging, especially because Kai is such a fascinating protagonist, his intense rivalry-friendship with Megane-kun (sorry, it’s been six months, i can’t remember names) is exactly the type I can’t help but root for. Kai’s participation in the final episode gave me goosebumps. I’m very happy we’re getting a continuation,  can’t wait to see how the Chopin competition develops.
Tumblr media
Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii: Sweet, funny and absolutely delightful from start to finish, Wotakoi was easily one of the highlights of the season. Although there were some aspects about Cosplayer-senpai and Yuri Otaku-senpai’s (I’m really trying to remember the names, I’m sorry!! ;---;) that didn’t work for me -namely the izakaya segment- Narumi and Hirotaka more than made up for it with their clumsy yet adorable romance. I spent the entirety of the amusement park episode screeching. I really hope we get a continuation -and get a chance to see more of Hirotaka’s brother and his gamer friend too- and that in general we can get more anime about adult stories
Tumblr media
Megalobox: Who would’ve thought that a show that wasn’t even in my radar before the season started would’ve end as one of my favorites, possibly of the year? Even as someone who’s only marginally acquainted with Ashita no Joe and has no interst in the sport of boxing, I was completely enthralled by the style and passion of this production. As I said a bit above, intense rivalries are very appealing to me, and the build up in the tension between Joe and Yuri was almost palpable, their mutual respect gave me chills. Definitely the surprise of the season, made even better by its optimistic happy ending to contrast with its predecessor’s tragedy. Megalobox is a unique anniversary project that is closer to an homage and it works perfectly. Definitely check it out.
Tumblr media
That’s it for the Spring season! I hope i can do the summer season this weekend and maaaybe even my watchlist for the Fall season. Fingers crossed i won’t get swallowed up in other stuff :’D

Unleashed: One
Seven people, seven creatures.
The government took them, kidnapped them and robbed them of their lives. Mixing their DNA with the creatures’ DNA, the government thought they would help in war as a secret weapon.
As much as they tried to get out, nothing worked. If they even dared to get out of the cages, they were taken out of the rooms, away from the lab, to be whipped or beaten. Sometimes someone came back with sharp objects sticking out of their body. And other times, especially with the women, nothing happened to them; but they still came back sobbing and marks on their body.
It’s not like they could escape, anyways. People guarded all the doors, surveillance cameras were everywhere, watching them. They watched as their little guinea pigs were being tortured and blood pouring out of their bodies.
Meliodas was the first one there, the longest one there. He was a freshmen in college when he was taken without a word, lured into a trap. When he awoke to six other empty cages, he was startled. They all had empty shackles in them, except for his. His hands were above his head and bound.
An hour later, he was dragged into a lab and slammed onto a table, face first. They bound his wrists and ankles, making him immobile. They tore through his back and inserted the DNA of a dragon--where did they get the DNA of that?--and he gained wings that he could retract any time he wanted. His emerald eyes became cat-like.
He didn't bother trying to escape, it only took the scars on his back to remind him of where he stood now.
***
Diane was the second. She was a woman in her second year of college, who was kidnapped by getting her alcoholic drink drugged. She didn't know how it happened, she was even watching the bar tender make her drink.
When she woke up, she found herself in a hospital gown, near a shaking boy staring at her. Diane asked what was happening, and he trembled as he answered. “We’re--we’re experiments for--for the g-government. For war.”
Diane didn’t comprehend what he’d said until wings of a dragon sprouted from his back, and she saw the slits of his eyes. She gasped as he continued. “They said the--the next one was going to be--be a serpent.”
The door started opening. The boy whimpered as soon as someone walked in. They were in a government uniform, and grabbed the boy. He was taken into another room on the other side. And Diane heard the screams.
Hours later, the screaming stopped. The boy’s body was being pulled into his cage, this time he had black spiraling horns out of the tops of his skull. The government officials walked in front of her, unlocking her cage. They forced her body out and into the room the boy was in.
After hours, her throat hurt from screaming. Her body ached, and she could see everything in color of temperature at will. She touched her finger to her teeth, and found fangs. They injected the serpent DNA into her.
***
Ban was the third to be taken. A thief, the best there was, was held down and had drugs shoved down his throat, rendering him useless against the government for the time being. When he woke up in a cage much too small for him, he heard the hiss of a woman to his right--he learned that her name was Diane--and the voice of a boy crying directly below him--his name was Meliodas. They both looked terrified, eyes sunken in and bruises all over their body.
They explained to him what was happening to them, and it infuriated Ban. They talked more, and he saw the features of the animals they were infused with. Diane had tears rolling down her cheeks. “And if you try escaping they...they take you into a room,” she warned. She pointed to another door, probably the way out. “They punish you...when I tried, a man forced himself on me.”
Ban was about to say something, maybe a comforting word or...or something.  This was similar to what happened to his sister Killia. She was taken from him, no sign that she was even there. Months after looking for her, she was found in a river with nothing indicating she’d ever wake up again.
Then he was pulled in for his first experiment. They tore up his chest and injected something into his bloodstream, causing him to be able to have the temperment of a fox.
He immediately tried escaping, tried slipping away, but it didn't work. He had glass slid across his cheek, and that was when he gained a scar.
Then, they injected a substance that made him gain immortality and the power to drain someone of their physical strength, and call weapons to him. Which was a bad, bad idea.
***
Not long after, an incapacitated boy--King--with light brown-gold hair was being rushed in and thrown in a cage. He was in his freshmen year of college, kidnapped outside of campus.
As he woke up, he could see double. Everything was confusing, the last thing he remembered was a first to the face. Three people met his gaze. They all spoke at once, trying to warn him about...experiments? A bear? DNA?
“What?” He managed to croak. His eyes adjusted, and he started taking in his surroundings. The cages, the shackles, everything. “What the fuck--where am I?”
“Government building,” said a woman. She was in a cage above him, just to the left. He tried looking where she was, but only saw hands gripping the bars. “Don’t fight back.”
He gulped. Hours later, he was snatched up by men and thrown on an operating table. Doctors drilled holes into his skin for his blood, then forced to mix his DNA with a bear’s, and he grew fur behind his ears and the ability to control plants. He then knew what true pain was.
***
Gowther was awake when he was taken in. He was shoved into a cage on the bottom, away from the people he saw. They all had terror sewn into their skin and trembling lips.
He tried looking at them, lightly grabbing the bars. They were all above him, crouched and cramped, just like he was. Some were asleep, trying to forget what was happening, and others were screaming for them to be let go.
Those who were screaming were tazed, and he was pulled into the lab. Scientists tore open his head and implanted a ram’s horns. He was turned into a beast.
***
The next two came in a blur. They were a married couple with a nine-year-old son. The couple were thrown into the labs at the same time, forced to watch the other go through hours of pain.
“Merlin!” the husband, Escanor, shouted. He watched as they tortured her, turned her body into something of a boar. She had retractable tusks by the time they were done with her.
Merlin could do nothing as she was forced to witness her husband’s body being ripped apart. When it ended, he had the ears and fangs of a lion. They were thrown into cages far away from each other.
***
That was seven years ago. By now, Meliodas had claws that could rip open someone’s chest in three seconds, along with scales lining his shoulder blades and calves. He could breathe fire and counter any attack that was thrown at him.
Diane had gotten scales as well, and gained venom for her fangs. They were on the spine of her back as well as her collarbones. Her tongue was forked, and it slithered in and out of her mouth every now and then. But now she could control the size of her body and the earth’s surface.
King’s hands turned into claws of a bear, and he was taught to wield daggers and other weapons. When he tried using them on his captors, he was beat.
Both Merlin and Gowther’s hands had nails like hooves, hard and not easy to crack. Gowther could drop someone’s heart rate and kill them, while Merlin could read minds and with the flick of her wrist knock the wind out of your lungs.
Escanor’s hands had fur on them, the muscles in his body growing. If he tried screaming, a lion’s roar was all that came out. He could call energy from the sun and use it at his will.
Ban got claws and fangs and a white strip of fur lining his spine. He was tortured the most because he was immortal now. Everything about him changed--except for one thing; his knack of stealing.
When he was pushed into his cage, he watched as they tazed everyone just once. He watched the guards leave, and lock the door behind them. He waited. And waited.
Then, he reached into his pocket, and could hear the jangle of a ring of keys in his hand. Quietly, he unlocked his cage and slid out, much to everyone’s surprise. Before they could say anything, he started unlocking their cages.
As soon as they were all out, crouched onto the floor, he said, “I think we can get out of here.”

Meliodas and Elaine. “Can you keep a secret?” Something cute and fluffy
Here you are my dear!
Response to the prompt listed here (now closed)
The night was dark, no moon shining, and Meliodas slipped through the shadows of Britannia. He was focused, set on his task, and the training of a soldier and Holy Knight were on display as he silently moved towards his target.
It was the time of night when nothing stirred; the animals were asleep, the crickets had ceased for the night, the nocturnal creatures were already heading back to their own holes to prepare for sunrise. The inhabitants of Britannia as well had all stumbled home from the taverns and the beds they had slipped into that were not their own. Meliodas was the only thing moving in the stillness.
Silently he opened the window of the tavern, climbing inside with soft footfalls. He wanted to avoid the little chime of the bell above the door; now that his task was complete, he wanted no questions. His eyes adjusted to the pitch that was the main room, and delicately he made his way around the tables and stools to head for the stairs, when suddenly the room was lit in brilliance.
“What-?” he stammered, blinking and wincing at the harsh yellow light.
When his vision returned, he was face-to-face with a very unhappy fairy. “Where have you been?”
Meliodas frowned. Elaine was usually sweet and funny, and although she joked just as much as the others—especially where Ban and King were concerned—she was never harsh. “Elaine?” he said cautiously. “Everything all right?”
“No, everything is not all right!” She jumped to her feet and floated towards him, tilting her body up so she could look down on him the way she often would do when scolding Ban. Meliodas took a step back, all at once uncomfortable with the situation, feeling like he was a child caught pulling the cat’s tail.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” she hissed. “Do you know what time it is?”
“It’s uh…”
“It’s well after four in the morning! You’ve been out all night!” Her golden eyes narrowed at him. “I saw you sneaking out, and I went to look but you were too quick. I thought it was odd for the Captain to be going out without a word.”
Meliodas rolled his eyes. “I’m fine, you don’t have to—”
“It’s not you I’m worried about!” She inched closer, and Meliodas stepped backwards, the back of his thighs hitting one of the round tables. “And don’t roll your eyes at me. I saw you. Where did you go?”
Folding his arms, he glared right back at her. Ban might find her charming, and King might put up with her chiding, but this was his tavern. “It’s none of your business,” he smirked.
Wrong answer, he thought, as the heat rose so furiously in her face he was afraid steam might come out of her ears. “Not my business!” she squealed. “Not my business!”
“Hey, Elaine—”
“You dare say it’s not my business, when you’re out doing who-knows-what with who-knows-what—”
Meliodas held up a hand. “Would you be quiet, you’re going to—”
“And to think that we all trusted you! That she trusts you!”
Now he frowned. “Wait, what do you think—”
But Elaine continued ranting, “Elizabeth loves you, and look at you! Sneaking out to go—ugh, you are disgusting!” She floated away as Meliodas gaped at her. “Well, who is she?” demanded the fairy. “I want her name. I want to know who I need to go and find so I can kick her—”
“Woah, woah, wait a second!” Elaine looked at him viciously, and then her eyes widened in shock as he erupted into laughter. “You think I’m going out to—meet some woman?”
Meliodas doubled over, not able to contain it any longer. Of all the ridiculous ideas…
When he looked up, tears floating in his eyes, her furious but confused expression made him laugh even harder. With a heaving sigh she floated down to stand in front of him, her arms folded and her face drawn into a scowl. “Well?” she finally demanded with a tap of her foot. “What’s so funny?”
“Elaine,” he gasped, trying to choke back more laughter. “I’m not cheating on Elizabeth.”
The fairy had the good grace to blush furiously. “Well—what do you expect me to think?” she demanded, her voice twisting higher. “You’re out all night, sneaking around, sneaking back in—what else could it be?”
Meliodas shook his head and headed around the bar counter. She followed him impatiently, but this was too good. He leaned down and pulled out a bottle of ale, popping off the top and taking a sip. “It’s not what you think,” he said with a grin.
She hopped up on a stool, still scowling a bit. “Will you tell me what it is then?”
Meliodas offered her the bottle. “Can you keep a secret?”
Her eyes narrowed, but then Elaine nodded as she swept the ale from him. She took a long sip as he dug into his pocket, pulling out a small object and setting it on the countertop.
Elaine swallowed and set the bottle down, leaning in to examine it. It was a small orb of some kind, a jewel perhaps, but it was hard to tell. It was black, the darkest shade she could remember seeing; and yet when the light of the lamps reflected onto it, she could see shades of blue and red and silver inside, along with flecks of gold coloring. The edges were jagged but the few spots that were smooth were so polished that she could nearly see her own reflection. “What is it?” she breathed.
“Dragon glass,” he answered, and smiled when she looked up at him. “It’s obsidian. You can’t find this anymore in Britannia, now that the dragons are pretty much extinct. But a version of it forms in the ash from volcanoes, and I’ve been waiting for word of a deposit so I could go collect some. Howzer has been helping, and used a connection to get me this. I just had to go pick it up.”
“It’s beautiful,” she said, reaching out a finger to trace along the rock. “But what is it for?”
Meliodas chuckled to himself. “It’s an old demon tradition. We don’t have marriage in the sense that humans do, but when we have a—”
“Marriage?” she squealed, interrupting him. Meliodas looked up as she covered her mouth with her hands. “Marriage? Are you going to propose? Oh my gosh, you’re going to ask Elizabeth to marry you?”
“Yeah,” he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I figured now that all this is over, it was time.”
“Oh my gooosssshhhhhh!!!” He winced a bit at how high her voice went. “Oh my gosh, and here I thought you were—oh Meliodas! I’m so sorry!”
She launched herself across the counter, giving him a hug, and he was frozen in shock. “I’m so happy for you! Is this what this is for? Oh my goodness you have this lovely tradition and I—oh! Wait, you didn’t tell me about it.”
Meliodas chuckled. “Well, once it’s smoothed you can make it into—”
“Your wedding is going to be so wonderful!” Elaine sighed. “Elizabeth will make the most beautiful bride. But will you have Ban or King as your man? Or maybe Escanor, he’ll feel so left out otherwise… I suppose we could do more… Do you suppose the king will insist on doing a state affair because I don’t know if Elizabeth—wait!” She blushed again. “I interrupted you, I’m sorry, go on.”
He took a sip of ale. “Nothing much really.” His voice scratched a bit, the heat on his neck rising at the talk of the wedding. To be honest, he hadn’t thought much after the proposal. “You ask for her to be yours, and then you give her—”
“Are you going to propose here?” she sighed. “Or privately? Oh, do you want to do a surprise? Maybe Ban can make a cake, and you can hide it in there! Or do—”
There was a noise upstairs as someone was getting up, and both looked at the ceiling. “Don’t worry,” Elaine said in a hushed voice. “We’ll talk later.”
Up the stairs she flew, and Meliodas blinked. He looked down at the half-empty bottle and picked it up, finishing it off with one long swallow. Then he picked up the dragon glass and ran his thumbs over the shape before heading upstairs, determined to ask Elizabeth immediately before Elaine got to her first.

also i was just thinking and i wouldn’t be surprised if now that mel is gone from the sins, of king kept acting as defacto leader as he was in the chandler battle?
the sins are kind of like herding cats, and in terms of leadership - who else is there really? escanor is either too passive or far too arrogant to lead anyone; gowther is definitely not a leader and probably has about negative eighty interest level. ban is historically awful at being a team player, and doesn’t seem to enjoy leadership at all (he wasn’t turning down the fairy king title because of loyalty to king, after all). diane is a sweetie but absolutely not the type who can order people around or plan things.
that just leaves king and merlin. merlin is certainly capable and knowledgeable enough to command the sins — and she seems to be stepping into that role already — but she’s really not much for team effort, much more interested in her own projects. she’s also not much of a fighter; she’s definitely powerful but most of her spells are more the support type.
so that just leaves king. the fairies are actually a bad example because even as fairy king he never really seemed to command them or garner much respect (they actually tended to order him around); but in terms of teamwork and protective impulse king is way up on the list. he’s also steadily becoming one of the more powerful of the team, and gloxinia has informed us he has a long way yet to go. there’s also that parallel between him and mel, with mel thinking of him as the type of king who one should aspire to be, and mel now off trying to become a king as well...
(as an aside, i would not be shocked if it was mel who gave king that nickname, back when harlequin was in his self hating i-don’t-deserve-to-be-fairy-king phase. ah, so you’re not “yousei-o harlequin” anymore? well, it doesn’t matter what you call yourself, you’re still a “king.”)
anyway tldr between the lack of interest/suitability of everyone else and the parallel between king and mel and leadership/kingship, i wouldn’t be at all surprised if king’s new backup leader status sticks around for a bit longer.
