opening my very old (well, like 1.5-year-old) original fiction novel draft to scan it n see what the characters are doing. discovering i wrote Very Long Swaths of dialogue in one scene entirely in irish. & being like. ok. past kitkat. this was admirable practice and probably isn't half-bad grammatically although who am i to judge. however. your future self has NOT been studying enough to know what the Fuck is happening here,

#I GOTTA GET BACK INTO IMMERSION #read a page aloud a day. compose at least one message in the immersion server a day. listen to at least 15 minutes of gaeltacht radio a day #actually progress in my duolingo course instead of just doing a quick review each day to maintain the streak. translate more poetry.#play amogus in irish. participate in the beginner voice chat and study groups in the immersion server again. et cetera et cetera et cetera #i remember the OG thought process was that the fictional language the characters were speaking parallels irish #and i'd decide if i wanted to do a whole tolkien-esque ground-up linguistics thing later. and in the meantime just practice my writing #but oh god does this make it clear how much syntax has leaked out of my brain. devin ruby what the fuck are you talking about my beloveds..#original fiction #kitkat learns gaeilge
