Koi to Yobu ni wa Kimochi Warui

Summary:

People fall in love in the most mysterious of ways. This statement seems to be especially true for the affluent genius playboy Ryou Amakusa. When he nearly falls off the stairs one rainy morning, a girl named Ichika Arima saves him. As if by fate, Ryou encounters Ichika again later that night; she happens to be the best friend of his little sister, Rio. Wanting to "thank" her, Ryou attempts to woo Ichika by employing his usual flirtatious tactics only to be immediately shot down, his target creeped out by his behavior. Rather than being discouraged, Ryou instead becomes more enthralled by her, and he begins to do everything he can to steal Ichika's heart despite receiving disgusted reactions each time. However, as time passes by, will Ichika remain repulsed by Ryou's creepy yet dedicated advances?

Koikimo (恋と呼ぶには気持ち悪い) - Review

Spring came and gave us a few love stories, thankfully Koikimo was a really sweet one. This anime wasn't the most dramatic one, it simply shows the struggle of falling in love for the first time during high school and the infamous age gap when it comes to love. Ichika was a nice character and it portrayed how a teenager understands the problems of being with someone older while developing feelings. I liked Ryou even though it was the first time he falls for someone and he was kind of insistent, he knew his boundaries and in the end, he put Ichika's well-being first. Rio was a great addiction because everything would have been kind of weird if it wasn't for her being Ryou's sister and the way she is.

Overall animation was okay, sometimes movements were weird but the colors and the design served the purpose. The soundtrack was good, and the opening was probably one of the best this season!

Final score: 7.5/10
