sonic gijinka lore (important)
Tumblr media
I refer to human Sonic as Nicky (this is because of the manga).
Naturally black haired, dyes hair blue
I always draw him with visible eyelashes.
Needs glasses but hates wearing them, abysmal eyesight.
Has two little strands of hair that stick out on top of his head like an ahoge
(if after Sonic Unleashed) wears Chip’s bracelet
5 foot 5 inches tall (short king)
He rarely wears his hoodie, and likes keeping it around his waist. The back of his hoodie says ‘welcome to the next level’ (deep cut reference)
Also wears bandages around his arms like Boom. This is because his hands go purple and veiny at night, as a side effect of the werehog transformation. (I call them cabbage hands)
Despite me literally making a guide for his design, the plasters can constantly change colour and position. This is on purpose trust me it's totally not because i can't be bothered with consistency. Of course, like 50% of human Sonic designs, he has one on his nose to signify he's a rambunctuous fellow.
Has a huge scar on his chest marking where Mephiles impales him with the laser, as he died that way in an alternate reality (06). He isn’t sure why he has it. He remembers the events of 06 vividly but he considers it a weird fever dream.
Has a few scars on his back where he was cut with the big fans in Eggmanland (hate those fans smh)
Legs and arms have burn scars from Angel Island. Will I ever draw these? No. Is it useful? No.
Has a front tooth missing, he was punched in the face hard by Knuckles at the start of Sonic 3
He pretty much the same personality as the original
A lot more nerdy. Likes reading books a lot more, part time mechanic. Has a sporty element too. Like half nerd/half jock.
Not good at talking to new people, he comes across very obnoxious to those not already used to him. Ambivert.
He smells like wet grass and lemons.
I think of him as around 17? Classic is like 8.
Mostly mute until he was like 13 I think, he started talking a lot. When he gets stressed out he goes mute again
Is bisexual (bisexual rights)
Native Japanese speaker, english is his second language. And yeah I know I can’t draw a consistent face (the opposite of same face syndrome) but I intended for him to be Japanese-American.
I also intended for him to be a trans male (because the trans Sonic headcanon slaps) but I didn’t ever bring this up because I’m not sure how to portray trans characters.
Tumblr media
I’ve started referring to my human Shadow as Julien and if you take one step onto my Spotify I think you can guess why.
Due to the difficulties of growing a human in a test tube, some spaces on his body, his skin hasn’t grown in correctly and looks raw.
He hasn't slept in 50 years
He’s 5 foot 4.
He’s really into figure skating
his eye's all fucky wucky because infinite messed it up (the eye that’s covered in this image)
his goggles and neckerchief are based off a sonic channel art i saw somewhere
the shoes are dolce and gabbana
I have no lore on metal other than he’s 5′3 and a sonic kinnie (no doubles allowed)
Tumblr media
formatting is kinda wack, Tumblr refused to allow me to move the picture. anyway like comment fave subscribe :)

Prompts for US Election Season Safety-Planning & Engagement
I’ve got some folks in my DMs getting salty after my earlier response to a US election-based post, so here we are, tired and angry.
What is a safety-plan?
A personalized, practical plan to improve your safety. I list some basics here, but everyone has different needs as an individual - it’s okay if this isn’t as useful to you as it might be for someone else. Cherry-pick what’s useful and discard the rest.
Emotional Safety
Consider the safe coping skills you already use when you’re feeling activated, triggered, or panicking. If those techniques use external tools, like a weighted blanket, get those tools out and have them on hand.
Reach out to people you trust with specific actions they can do to support you, as appropriate.
Consider limiting your social media engagement for a day, a few days, a week - however long you need.
If you still want to know about important updates, ask someone you trust to provide those upon your request.
Reach out to people you trust who share your specific worries, especially around a shared identity. This can help us feel less isolated. For example, my girlfriend and I will be texting each other cute animals because we are very gay and very tired.
Draw firm boundaries with people (especially conservative relatives) as needed who may want more of your time or labor than you have capacity for. If you’re not sure how to do that safely, you can call a domestic violence hotline and ask the advocate to help you find/practice language to use; this is something we regularly do with callers.
Physical Safety
We’re already seeing violence against individuals and groups of people who visibly belong (or appear to visibly belong) to politically vulnerable communities at polls or street shutdowns initiated by Trump trains.
Stock up on food, medications, and other supplies as much as you can to limit the number of times you’ll need to leave the house.
Try to avoid going out alone. Can an adult in your household/quarantine pod go with you?
Consider checking out phone apps that will automatically text/call someone you trust if you miss a check-in window (often used by femmes going out on a new date or to a club).
Be prepared for road closures by hostile Trump supporters. Unless you have the skills/resources for it, don’t initiate engagement! Find another route, if possible.
Know your legal rights in case law enforcement starts shit. Check out some street protester tips on how to navigate getting arrested, such as having important phone numbers written in permanent marker on your body somewhere. As most politically vulnerable folks know, you don’t have to be breaking any kind of law to get stopped; you can, quite literally, be peacefully in line at the polls and get pepper-sprayed by cops anyway.
Dealing with Feeling Helpless
Start by taking honest stock of yourself about your needs in the current moment. You put the oxygen mask on your face first, after all.
Second? Don’t judge yourself for having those needs. It’s hard, but I promise you that almost everyone is feeling “weak,” depressed, angry, anxious, and sometimes all of that at once. Stay present-focused: “This is a need I’m having. What is available to me to get that need met as safely as possible?”
Look for other people doing the same kind of you’re doing - or the kind of work you want to do. Collective effort shares the burden.
Remember that your people have survived generations of violence. We will continue to do so.
Understand that election-related stress will last for at least a few months.
There’s likely to be an escalation in violence no matter which way the presidential election goes, and either way, the next inauguration isn’t until January 2021. You need to be prepared for the long haul.
When you feel ready to reengage:
Recognize that voting is the least thing that a person can do. With work aimed at systemic, intergenerational violence, we need all hands engaged in a variety of ways for the long-term.
Stop going after activists of color who choose not to vote. If you don’t have personal lived experience relevant to their reasoning, leave them alone.
Be creative in adapting skills, interests, and networks you already have. Everyone has something to offer! Although aimed in part at pagans, this article gives some ideas and points to consider for everyone.
If anyone tells you that you don’t have anything to offer in social justice efforts, they’re an asshole. (And probably a bigot, and it’s probably ableist. Fuck those people.) When we say all hands on deck, we mean all, regardless of the lived experiences attached to those hands.
Do you have emotional or physical safety concerns that aren’t mentioned here?
Ask someone you trust to help you brainstorm. What are the concrete worries you have, emotionally or physically? How can you address, eliminate, mitigate, or cope with those worries in whatever creative, safe ways you can? Make an actual list if that helps.
Consider contacting a domestic violence hotline. We’re trained to safety-plan with people who are in the kind of danger that doesn’t usually go away quickly and who have limited access to resources (although if an unhealthy partner or relative isn’t part of your concern, it’s possible the advocate may try referring you elsewhere).
Warm lines are a cool alternative to hotlines. Lots of local and national ones exist for different purposes.
Check out some leftist blogs: they tend to regularly post content about safety related to different scenarios, much of which is also tailored to the needs of specific demographics (being trans, Black, Jewish, disabled, etc). One solid resource on tumblr is @antifainternational.
Check out blogs written by and for a particular demographic, even if you’re not part of that demographic. Writers, bloggers, and activists in these communities tend to have common lived experience of systemic violence and there is a lot of amazing, pragmatic content out there for coping under oppression.
Got questions? I’m happy to answer whatever I can via ask or DM, even if it’s to direct you to a resource more helpful than I.

Practical Ways to Make Lindy Hop Welcoming for LGBT+ Dancers
taken from Mary Blendermans Blog
(Note: In this post I will use LGBT+, a shortened acronym, to refer to the LGBTQQIAP+ community. As someone who falls under the G, the Q, and the A, it is important to me to acknowledge that there are more letters in our beloved acronym than are sometimes convenient to spell out.)
During my tenure as a Lindy Hopper, some of which was spent at an extremely conservative educational institution, I’ve become especially sensitive to and appreciative of scenes and events that go the extra mile to make the LGBT+ Lindy Hoppers feel safe and welcome. Here, I’d like to offer a compendium of tips and ideas I’ve compiled from my experiences, and from conversations with other LGBT+ dancers, to assist you in making your scene or event as queer-friendly as you can!
Making us feel welcome in class
We want to know that we can dance any role. All of your classes should open with a vocal acknowledgment from the instructors that anyone may dance any role. This may seem almost too obvious to say out loud, but I promise, this is really important – it makes us feel seen, and it makes us feel like we have the instructors’ support in case we experience discrimination from other dancers in class.
We want beginner classes to offer a non-gendered way to explore role preference. A great beginner class will include an exercise that involves really basic components of leading and following, like connecting with both hands in open position and practicing leading or following each other around the floor. I wish that the first Lindy Hop class I took had done this!
We want to have an easy way to identify our role preference in class. Please – please – do not ever start class by saying, “Okay, everyone partner up!” This makes it incredibly difficult to tell who’s doing which role, and I have often experienced the isolation of being the “odd one out” after all the women have partnered up with all the men. Instead, consider having everyone hold up an American Sign Language letter L or letter F with one hand to indicate which role they will be dancing for that class, and then let people partner up.
We want to feel acknowledged by the instructors’ language. Instructors, please take note – it is perfectly acceptable to use a gendered pronoun if you are talking about your teaching partner. For instance, you might say of the female follower teaching with you, “And then I put my right hand gently around her waist.” But when referring to your students, you should use gender-neutral pronouns instead. For instance, you could say, “Okay, leads, take your follower’s hand and lead them through the turn.”
Using “them,” which is a gender-neutral pronoun, makes space to acknowledge all the followers in the class – including those who may not identify as female. Here are a few more examples to help you think about which pronoun to use when referring to your teaching partner versus your students:
Partner: “I’m listening for him to pull me back into tandem position.”
Students: “Followers, make sure you listen for your leader to use their left hand to pull you back into tandem position.”
Partner: “She uses those four counts to do something expressive that she chooses.”
Students: “Leaders, remember to support your follower as they choose what to do during those four counts.”
But Mary, you sigh. I’ve definitely taught classes in which all the women were following and all the men were leading. Do I really have to do this then?
That’s a great question! Remember that in the LGBT+ community, it isn’t always obvious from appearances which gender someone may identify with, or which pronouns they may prefer. I have several dance friends who are nonbinary and use they/them pronouns, but are often mistaken for women because of the way they look. Using gender-inclusive language helps to make sure everyone feels welcome, even if it doesn’t always seem necessary.
We want to see ourselves represented. If it is an option for your scene or event, it’s a really dope idea to have same-gender instructor pairs teach together. This lets people who dance a nontraditional role feel represented. Some of my favorite styling variations have come from taking classes from other women who lead!
Making us feel welcome at the dance
We want to be visible. If you really want to go the extra mile towards pronoun visibility, get those nametags that say “My name is:” and “My pronouns are:” on them, and encourage everyone – including cis people – to use them. This helps trans dancers feel included, and gives people an easy way to know what other people’s pronouns are!
We want to feel safe inside the bathroom we use. It may seem so simple as to be almost unnecessary, but it makes a huge difference to hang up a sign outside the restroom indicating that people of all genders are welcome. Here are a couple of creative examples I’ve seen at different venues and events:
Pirate Swing 2017 in Ann Arbor, Michigan hung up signs that said “And non-binary” under the “Men” and “Women” signs outside the bathrooms in their main venue.
The inimitable Mobtown Ballroom in Baltimore, Maryland has a sign in the hallway outside the bathrooms: “This bathroom has urinals. [arrow to the right] This one doesn’t. [arrow to the left] Use whichever bathroom suits you.”
The Switch 2018 in San Francisco, California hung signs outside each of the single-use bathrooms that said “All genders welcome in this bathroom – just be sure to wash your hands!”
A personal aside: at Pirate Swing 2017, I was at a place in my life where I was dressing very androgynously, and as a six foot tall person with short hair, I was frequently mistaken for a man. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me to see a sign on the bathroom that said “Women and non-binary.” It made me feel safe to enter the bathroom and know that no one would be startled or make a disparaging comment towards me. I do not identify as non-binary, but that simple sign still made a difference for me.
We want to be danced with! It truly makes all the difference when an organizer, instructor, or experienced dancer asks an LGBT+ dancer who is new to the scene for a dance. If you are in a position of power, influence, or experience, you have the opportunity to make this a reality!
We want others to ask about our preferences. I’ll admit it – I don’t always ask people their role preference. I know that some people want to only follow or only lead, and that’s fine. But if I’m not sure, or it’s a person I’ve never danced with before, or a friend with whom I will occasionally switch roles, I like to ask, “Is it all right if I lead?” or “Do you want to lead or follow?” If they seem unsure, offering up “Want to switch?” as an alternate option floats some people’s boats.
Because it can be easy for scene regulars to forget about doing this when they’re accustomed to dancing with the same people week after week, I really encourage instructors and organize to say, repeatedly and with a microphone if possible,  “Here in our scene/at our event, if we’re not sure of someone else’s role preference, we like to ask!”
A nonbinary friend of mine told me this:
“As a queer person and often femme-presenting person, it’s super exciting when someone notices that I lead and asks me to, or even just asks if I lead or follow instead of assuming I follow.”
Which I think is reason enough to encourage scene regulars to be observant of others’ preferences and to ask if they’re unsure!
We want to be jammed in a way that respects our preferences. Okay, but for real, guys – can we make it an all-the-time-everywhere rule that all birthday jams must be preceded by getting the people in the middle to specify which roles they dance? Again, ASL hand signs are useful here. I can’t tell you how many times I haven’t cut in to dance with someone because I haven’t been sure which roles they could dance, and I suspect the same has been true of the times I have been jammed in the past. Especially for dancers who are newer to the scene, being given the opportunity to communicate this information is a must!
We want a safe person to talk to if needed. I really like it when scenes or events explicitly appoint one of the organizers to be a “safety coordinator” or something similar, whose job is basically to be a really understanding and informed person who is the go-to contact point for code of conduct violations.
Making us feel welcome in competitions
We want the competition name to reflect what’s actually going on. As we all know, for random partnered competitions, “Jack and Jill” is out, and a variety of new monikers are in – my favorite is “Mix and Match.” Just be mindful when naming your competition of what the title will say to people who dance a nontraditional role, or identify with a nonbinary gender.
We want to know that everyone else in the competition will welcome us. In some Mix and Match competitions, I have occasionally felt worried that I would be paired with someone who didn’t want to dance with me because I am a female lead. Thankfully, this has never happened, but I would really like to it become standard operating procedure to put language somewhere – maybe in the competition sign-ups, maybe announced by the emcee – that part of a Mix and Match is dancing with whoever you are paired with, regardless of their gender. This is a nascent idea of mine, and I’d be interested to hear others’ thoughts on how to put this into practice – toss yours in the comments!
We want to know that alternative fashion choices are acceptable. Many Lindy Hoppers are into vintage fashion, which is awesome…but it’s also from the 1940s, and tends to dictate shirts and trousers for men, and skirts and blouses for women. I would love it if we all took a moment to acknowledge that people tend to get pretty dressed up for competitions, and for queer people, formal wear can be a confusing and awkward endeavor. (As dance photos of me continue to attest.) Just…do your best to love and support and cheer for people in the competition, no matter what they’re wearing.
Incorporating ambidancing into your scene
This is a topic I have been hesitant to address, because my own feelings about ambidancing – which means being able to both lead and follow – are complicated at best. Even though I am technically an ambidancer, because I know how to both lead and follow, I am much more comfortable identifying myself as someone who leads primarily, and I have mixed feelings about the efficacy of ambidancing as a class format. Regardless, ambidancing does have some wonderful benefits of which you should be aware.
Ambidancing encourages open-mindedness and flexibility throughout your scene. People who are accustomed to ambidancing as a concept, regardless of their sexuality or gender, are way more likely to be cool with asking about role preferences, dancing with people of their same gender, and generally fostering an LGBT-friendly community atmosphere.
Ambidancing helps people appreciate each other. I’ve noticed that when people try the role they don’t usually dance, they develop a great appreciation for people who do dance that role! This is a wonderful attitude to have, and I think everyone should try the other role, at the very least to gain a better understanding of it.
Ambidancing can be an avenue towards greater musicality. Based on my own experience, I believe that when you start to dance in both roles, you start to notice some similarities between them – the biggest one being that dancing with the music, and inserting styling, breaks, stops, and footwork that matches the music, is important no matter which role you’re in.
Ambidancing is a queer-friendly class format. If you want to relieve anxiety about gendered roles, making it unnecessary to choose between those roles is a solid option. I may not personally enjoy learning both roles in a single class, but I know that there are many people for whom this learning style is a perfect fit, and it may be a good experiment to add some ambidancing classes to your scene or event to gauge interest.
Switch dancing is incredibly fun! I didn’t hold this opinion quite so adamantly until I moved to California and went to the Switch, where I had some switch dances that absolutely blew my socks off. Switch dancing means that the partners trade leading and following back and forth throughout the dance. Even as someone who isn’t super into following, I find switch dancing to be a spontaneous, creative, and exhilarating experience, and I think it’s something everyone should experience!

“Voluntary” Homelessness
So for note I’ve been homeless since early 2019. I have never stayed a night on the street as I’ve had a shelter to stay at every night, or a friend’s couch if that didn’t happen. I’ve stayed at two shelters.
The most recent was a youth shelter. It could be better, but it could be worse.
The first shelter I stayed at in another city, was a Salvation Army shelter.
Before we get into why the salvation army shelter sucked I’m gonna pre-face that while I’m gay and have gender shit, and generally the whole “hey I’m a mess” thing, that wasn’t what made it shit. For whatever reason I can pass well-enough for cis and het that the staff and old straight people didn’t give me trouble. I found out from a younger, more visibly trans and disabled person, that they had different luck. The staff frequently misgendered them, and prevented them from moving from the upstairs dorms and into the groundfloor accessible rooms.
So while my queerness didn’t factor into why my experience with Salvation Army sucked, it did factor into the experience of another person, who eventually left because it was their only option.
At the youth shelter I was able to be openly queer and have conversations about that with other people my age.
Anyway, the real issue with the salvation army shelter is that they had a sobriety system in place. Not harm reduction, but just sobriety. You need to go cold turkey off whatever you were taking when you enter. They breathalyze you everyday when you come in for curfew. They check your bags each time you come in. If you get caught by the breathalyzer, you smell like weed, etc, they kick you out for 24 hours the first time. Find somewhere else to stay because you aren’t allowed here. Caught again? 72 hours. The compromise the shelter had was that if you wanted to go out drinking you could always ask for a night out from shelter (a 24 to 72 hour period) so that you could get it in and out of your system, and the next day return to shelter.
Harm-reduction models have already proved that cold turkey, and similar sobriety plans, don’t work. For some people? Sure, yeah, you can. But for most people? Relapse is a reality.
So a lot of people had to decide whether they wanted a “safe” place to sleep for a 3 to 6 month period, or if they wanted to self-medicate and survive their depression, etc.
The youth shelter’s rules however were “if you can make it up the stairs and into bed that’s cool, and if you can’t we have to call an ambulance so you’re safe”. They used a harm-reduction model and it worked. There wasn’t much change in people at shelter aside from them doing better, or being drunk/high in a fashion that’s more open than salvation army allowed.
Salvation Army was one of the only two shelters in the area I was staying at the time. While it had issues (which I may talk about another time), everyone agreed it was better than the other shelter. Both were still bad enough that a whole demographic of the local homeless population had decided the street was a better alternative.
So yeah ‘voluntary’ homelessness is a bullshit myth that ignores what options people are actually given. And those options can quickly be reduced by being visibly trans and disabled.

Black Rose Sesh Report V
i think it’s number five at least.
Here we go again:
fuck having a bum shoulder. again. seriously, fuck it. right in the asshole.
ok
the trip back wasn’t an odyssey so much as it was a revelation-filled romp.
also chillhop music makes me seriously so lyrical. it’s... it’s like I’m helpless, but I’m also scared that people might see me as a pretentious bitch or something, but I also recognize that maybe this is just my anxiety or some shit?
thought looops, like frooot loops
oh yeah!
revalations
one: holy fuck I am so fucking bi.
there was this couple heading back -- WAITTTTT
how could I almost forget Oliver?!
ok
People I met on the romp back:
(wait tags)
(ok, back to here - but ow, fuck)
Eric, Lisa, and Oliver the Dog.
amazing neighbors who’ve lived in the area for a long ass time. also Oliver is cleverly named due to the location.
the black cat that I thought was a little girl twin of my handsome boy? nope! He’s an adorable little psychopath named Merlin! he loves people, is adorable, vocal, cuddly, his owners are this amazingly punk rock lady and this guy who could be like a secret badass punk nerd from accounting or something. And he’s a bit psycho ‘cause he does the whole “snuggle up to your leg to purr and cuddle you, ask for belly rubs, then will attack your hand”. My Zi doesn’t do that at all. He will give you maaaaaany warning bops with his back legs, no claws, before he begins to lazily warning bite you.
Alright, ok.
Revelations.
one: I am so fucking bi.
there was this couple heading home from a run. both of them were HELLA FINE. I mean, of the two I’d prefer the dude, but if I could have both of ‘em, then hell yes I would.
I have the preference namely because the lady was wearing matching pink shirt and scrunchie - and that get up on a wavy blonde made me think of that character from the Arnold the Armadillo show and I don’t like her as much.
they were wearing matching running tights, the girl was wearing pink and the guy was wearing orange (my favourite colour).
Both probably within my age range, maybe in their 30s.
The guy was super in shape, bony, broad, muscled shoulders and a runner’s taper.
Gal was thicc and had a face that looked like Denaerys Targarean (idk how the fuck to spell that name rn)
two: I’m living in my dream neighborhood, basically, and living my dream.
where I’m at, I just went out for a walk to a park - it felt like I was at a lake.
there’s dogs everywhere, and friendly people who own those dogs. people with stories to tell, who are happy to sit down and chat.
there’s beautiful people where I live. All sorts of beautiful people. (see revelation one: I am hella bi - and for any biphobes out there, remember that bi means i find more than one gender attractive. think about that for a sec, I’ll wait.)
there are couples in their 30s with no kids, so this place is fairly childfree.
there are people leading alternative lifestyles all around me, mixed in and living side by side harmoniously with neighbors who are more traditional. including couples even who are made up of a “normal” looking person and someone visibly living that alternative lifestyle.
today has been filled with so many LGBTQ encounters of other LGBTQ people living visibly out - whether they’re living out to prove a point, living out because it’s right for them, living out despite the fear, living out because it’s fun to, etc, etc. - that it makes me so happy to see.
there was a dude in this really fancy sports car - likewise somewhere in this 30s - which almost everyone at the intersection had to turn their heads to appreciate
there was this guy with a beard (beards are so attractive) balancing on this fancy looking road bike (god, I love bikes) - makin’ that choice for whatever his reason is, but it’s one I love because we need more bikes and less cars
on my way home, and this ties into the point below, I passed under a balcony where several ladies where having a girl’s night and discussing things.
and it turned into this awesome look on feminism in a way because they were talking about I think female genital mutilation (these are all ladies in their late 30s or older - lots of talk of husbands, etc) and how there’s so many women still having it done to them.
one of the ladies mentioned how some man in her life somewhere (she mentioned how she knew, but there was a dog I was distracted by when she explained, so I didn’t really catch it) was talking about how less girls get mutilated than boys or something. And she was like “well i don’t know the numbers for boys, but even if it is higher, that’s still six--(some ridiculously large number like 600 million or something, or 600 thousand...) and then that means there’s even more children being mutilated than that because the boys get mutilated more often.”
like, holy shit, a man engaging in “oppression olympics” when a woman was just trying to express her shock that any children are being mutilated - and that he was being excited for winning a gender competition for “whose gender is mutilated the most as young, helpless babies?!”!
anyways, that little aside aside
holy fuck my shoulder hurts
I was thinking I could do this part as part of the stream of conscience further down, but I don’t think I can hold out that long.
So ok, I separated the AC joint (or something like that) in my right shoulder from some bungled board breaking I did during a parade with my karate club. Boards got rained on and my student and I still broke them.
I bungled this break only in that the first two elbow attempts didn’t work - the board was way too wet and it bounced both the elbows back. So I resorted to  hammer fist to break it and boooooo. I wanted to elbow it.
But yeah, turns out I’m hurting.
But I’m not sure if I am or not. Again, this is probably anxiety? or maybe another revelation.
But like, I’m confused. Would a separated shoulder take 48hrs to fully onset in terms of the pain and symptoms? Cause I felt like I was sore, but still able to do thinsg. Then when I went in yesterday to see my chiro for a scheduled appt from way before the parade, I mentioned my shoulder pain.
he ran two quick assessments on me and diagnosed me with a separated AC joint. it’s on the mild side, but it’s still a separated shoulder he said. and since them I’ve been way more conscious of it and I wonder - is it because he told me something’s wrong and I’m “pretending” because I’m hyper-aware of any sensation in the area? Or did it really just take until now for it to start being so bothersome?
--- another aside within aside within aside: I’m starting to feel suuuuper sleepy.
but then also, I’m high. I’m high on 50mg edible THC and 1/2 a 210mg joint. I should be pretty medicated by now, we can all agree. And I do feel a familiar stoner feel from the indica. Nice heavy body feel. But through it all, my neck, shoulder and lat are just screaming at me occasionally.
Especially my neck.
And my shoulder when I go to use my right arm - reaching, etc. OHHHHHH!!!! It hurts more today than yesterday because I did karate this morning!!!!! And I pushed (but didn’t hurt) myself a bit because I wanted to train with our guests.
ok.
I get it now.
I’m not crazy, it legit hurts. I’m not being a wuss, I’m being realistic. Okay.
SEE!?! WEED! REVELATIONS!
Dammit, guys, weed really is a therapist.
Have I even told you guys I’m a relatively new stoner? Like, just since it got legalized in Canada, and like, in November? So a lot of those like random “crazy-ass” stoner stereotypical phrases that I used to make fun of and think were like “oh, hurr durr, only stupid stoners who can’t think straight think like that” - they’re TRUE!!!! holy fuck, guys.
Hm, also, I think I am definitely going to be able to ride along and let the shrooms take me where they will next weekend. I’m ready for it. I’m excited for it. I feel like there will be so many more breakthroughs.
OH! yes, returning.
So, those ladies and talking about not even feminism, but just out in the open, within earshot of people on the street (fair, they’re just having an open air convo on their own personal balcony - everyone else is on the public sidewalk, the acoustics in this area are just very conducive), talking about statistics about women.
It’s so awesome that I live ina  place where that can happen.
That I live in a place where a trans woman and her lesbian girlfriend can walk through the park. Where an openly lesbian couple, an openly gay couple, two best dude friends (and or maybe another gay couple, it’s not like they were dressed in rainbows or held hands or anything), a single dad with two kids, a single stoner, and all sorts of straight couples can just all exist alongside each other without anyone feeling pressured or attacked or anything.
It’s awesome.
Ok. My shoulder is really hurting. I know I’m not being a wuss with this now.
Though I have to say, as much as this fucking sucks, I still wouldn’t trade it for my experience as a martial artist. Now I know for next year, and I can protect my younger students now since I know that wet boards are so harsh on even my body - it’d tear out the shoulder of some of our younger kids. And I can experiment with drying the boards a bit more so they’re more brittle and won’t bounce back.
I think if I had been doing a single break in a controlled setting like a dojo instead of needing to set up in as few steps as possible and break and move on quick so you don’t hold up the route, I could have broken it. But as it was, it’s not possible for me to courteously summon up the concentration for a break like that on a parade route.
I’m gonna just relax for a while. Probably find some anime to watch. I wanted to draw, but I don’t think my shoulder’s up for it. I’ll have to try to remember the imagery.
It’s like, space-sci-fi dystopia future-wave sort of thing but with lower tech and more slum-like. cartoony. cel shaded. primariy colours: orange-brown, blue/purple like vaporwave, red, orange-orange, maybe some yellow/yellow-white.
guys, weed is magical. I love weed. I mean, I’m a highly functioning member of society. I live a frugal lifestyle, but I kill it at work, I’m becoming highly involved in my community, etc.
it’s crazy how there’s that stoner stereotype, but honestly I’d say that’s just the entertaining minority. the minority we all like to smoke along with. XD
ok, that’s a wrap on this part. maybe more, maybe not. dunno.
in anycase, fuck bum shoulders, stay chill, and see ya in space.
...srsly should I do audios?

What's the cheapest option for car insurance for a teen?
I just recently passed my driving test and I'm completely taken away by the prices I've saw for car insurance on my parents Astra, I'm getting prices up at 7K. I've decided to go out and buy a category 1 insurance car (or any that's a low category) so it will be cheaper to run but the only problem is, I don't have a job at the moment so only have savings. It wouldn't bother me not taking out my own policy because I understand that can be more expensive but is there an alternative for me until I get a job and earn money to get the policy so I can collect NCD's? One of my friends use to have his own policy on his family car, a big car like ours, until he had an accident and the price shot up. Now because he can't afford the monthly costs he just takes out 1 weeks insurance at a top when needed and this costs him around 40. What I don't understand though is that he's 18, the same age as me, and I thought you werent able to do short term insurance as a new driver? Although I think he somehow takes it under his parents policy? I'v no idea how this works if someone could shine a light on it? Another friend also had a Nissan Micra and was paying around 80-90 per month which I thought was very cheap (also the same age as me) for an insurance which makes me wonder if he is on his own policy? My dad will be getting insured on my own car also and be using it for work at nights. If anyone could come up with some solutions for me that would be great!! :) Thanks""
Do you think i could get a used car and insurance with under $3k?
i really need a car to get around, i have full time job, n part-time student. It's getting to my nerves that whenever i need to go somewhere, i have to ask my brother or sister to take me. Yes i am a student 18 yo, i don't have much money, and my parents refuse to buy me a car, reason because my mom said insurance is too expensive, and she doesn't give a shitt about me. Do you think i could get it anywhere? i was thinking about buying the car 1st then insurance later on because i can't afford it. idk what should i do?""
""Insurance Rates For '05-'09 Mustang GT, '02 WS6 Trans Am Ram Air And '02 Cadillac Eldorado?""
(thank you sooooo much for all answers to my previous question! It's a shame I couldn't shout thank you for pushing the vote button by mistake. I was a total noob here) As everyone recommended me to purchase a 4th gen Trans Am (hopefully the ram air of the final edition), with one person also picking the 05-09 Mustang GT out of my wishlist and my friend telling me to get a 92-02 Cadillac Eldorado, how much is the average of the insurance rates for each car? I'm 24, male, just graduated from college in Japan and have no driving history in America. I'm moving outta here in a year. My nationality is Japanese as well, which means I won't be trusted for a while. Sure my Japanese licence won't be valid in the US so I'll have to retake it over there hence no history... right? :/ Does anyone have a clue? Thanks a lot for reading :)""

Will my insurance company repo my totaled car if I'm still making payments?
April 2011 my car suffered enough hail damage to become totaled. I owe more on my loan then my insurance company is giving me, and would need $4500 to buy it salvaged. I can not afford to buy a new car and this one still runs perfectly fine (it was all cosmetic damage). I have been paying on my insurance and my car loan and have not been called regarding my choice to keep or sell my car in a very long time. My insurance policy has even been renewed for another year with no changes to my policy. I see no reason they would come and take it and not just let me finish paying my car. The problem is now my wife (who is fresh out of college with tons of debt and lowered my credit score) wants me to take out a personal loan and buy the salvaged title to make sure they won't repo it. My current loan has all the interest paid off the new loan would have much worse interest rates.""

When is it too late to make a car insurance claim?
About 3-4 months ago I was parked in a supermarket car park. My mum, opened the passenger door where the wind blew and hit the car next to us. Upon packing the car, the passenger in the alleged 'chip' car stated that their car was damaged- the damage was barely even visible- something you would expect as a driver to occur. I even questioned whether that 'damage' was the fault of ours because the car was that battered. Anyway, 3 months later I received a letter stating that I was involved in an accident on the 21st of June. This date is also incorrect where this 'accident' actually happened on the 1st May (my car insurance renewal date). My insurance know this happened in this time as I called them to ask what may occur. Could anyone provide me with details of when it is the latest time to make a claim. Also, what would usually happen for the 'chip' in question since I know this day that it allegedly happened was a lie. (UK answers only please)""

Do most parents pay for their children's car insurance?
Ok, don't rant at me, I'm asking this question innocently. Basically, I want to know if it's common for parents to pay for their children's car insurance (I'm thinking of those 17, 18, 19, etc. who just passed their test and haven't moved out), or if the child is usually made to pay it themselves? I don't know if part time jobs will cover the cost or what (especially as I imagine they will usually pay for their own petrol), but 3000 a year does seem quite a bit for a teenager to be able to afford. And seems like more and more youngsters are getting cars... I don't think I would expect my parents to pay for mine when I pass my test, but then again I don't know how I'd be able to afford it myself either... So I'm looking for some insight on the topic.""

Becoming car insured in Ontario?

How much should I charge for tutoring?

Alternatively, for levels K-6, I'm willing to offer general homework help. I have some experience - I tutored someone who was failing two to four hours per week last year in HS Chemistry, and she ended up passing the course, including her NYS Regents Exam, which many people failed. From what I've seen, tutors around here make anywhere from $10 to $40, at my level of education. Is $10-15 unreasonable for a general homework help session? Best way to find affordable therapy for a teenager with depression?
I'm seventeen years old and I think I have depression. All teenagers are emotional, I get that, but I know this is more. When I'm occupied and around people for a few hours at a time or less, I'm fine and usually even happy. Then when I actually have time to stop and think and let my mind wander, I usually feel kind of hopeless and just very sad. I also have other emotional issues, like the littlest things seem to enrage me. Also, I read somewhere that depression can cause physical issues such as digestive issues (which I have been having a lot of the past four or five months). I cancel plans a lot now, either because my stomach is acting up or I feel too sad to go anywhere and I just dont want to be bothered with people. Ive been sleeping a lot more than normal lately because thats the only time things dont bother me. When I was about thirteen I had an issue with cutting, I would talk to my guidance counselor (which is not an option now because I did home schooling and now am done with school until college next fall) and when she realized that I may have some more serious issues, she called my mom. My mom always brushed it off. She talked to me a total of one time, only when I went to my older cousin and my cousin forced my mother to talk to me. Basically, my mom got mad because I said I didnt feel comfortable talking to her and she refused to send me to a counselor, then she said she would send me to a counselor (at that time I had insurance) but she never actually ended up doing anything. So I went back to doing what I always do, pretending to be fine, and for the most part I controlled it. I stopped cutting until about seven months ago, which was also when all my other issues started popping up. I havent cut myself in a few months now, but I still have the urge to which is not okay. Depression and other mental health issues run in my family, and I keep thinking of one particular relative who got so bad that she took her own life. I know that at some point she must have been like me, where it was difficult but still somewhat manageable, and it just scares me that I could get to the point she was at. I have no insurance, and we have very little money. I know Yahoo Answers isnt the ideal place to seek advice, but I dont know where to go. I only have one true friend that I trusted enough to tell, and obviously she is my age so shes just as clueless as me. Then I have tried talking to my older cousin (not the same one I mentioned before, she and I dont talk anymore) but in her world even if the money is not readily available, when its needed they find a way, so she doesnt get the concept when I tell her I really do NOT have the money for a psychologist or insurance. Is there any websites or anything that provide information on free or more affordable counseling for teens? Im ready to admit that I need help I just need to find somebody actually willing and able to give it to me.""

Home Owner's Insurance?
I'm hurt my foot not even a year ago. May 22, 2012. I was at my neighbor's house when her husband called, She was outside in her pasture fixing a fence. I went to take the cell phone out to her. I forgot to put on my shoes. As I was walking, I was about 5 feet from her and my older brother. And I fell to the ground. A Re-bar about the width of a pinky went through my left foot inbetween the toe by the pinky going 4 inches inside. I had to stay in the hospital for 8 days. Almost losing my foot. I have no feeling in my toe but at the top of my foot, just touching it causes me to feel pain. Is it possible for her Home Owner's Insurance to pay at least half or all my medical bills? I owe over $36,000. This also Happened in Oklahoma, and I moved to Missouri back in November (don't know if that would affect my chances). Will a U.S. Adaptation Ruin Sebastian Lelio’s <i>Gloria</i>?

Will a U.S. Adaptation Ruin Sebastian Lelio’s Gloria?
When asked about the field research he conducted for his film Gloria, the Chilean director Sebastian Lelio described going out with his mother and her friends. “When I have a drink with them,” Lelio told the magazine Cromos in 2014, “I see things from their side because they’re living something so fierce: a cruel process of disappearance, of becoming invisible in a society in which beauty is understood as an obsession with youth.” Despite his choice of words, the 43-year-old director—who is now working on adapting a version of the 2013 drama for American audiences—didn’t actually make a movie that dismisses women beyond their child-bearing years as “disappearing.”
Gloria doesn’t insist on an essential tragicomic sadness in female aging like so many films do. The story’s eponymous hero is 58 and long divorced, checking in at an office job by day, and working Santiago’s swank club-circuit for mature singles by night. Played by a radiant Paulina García, Gloria doesn’t explicitly reject her modest place in Chile’s free-market, so-called “miracle” economy. Instead, she seeks alternative fates on the dance floor, in the narcotic power of Lite FM nostalgia radio and in the companionship of a retired naval officer named Rodolfo (Sergio Hernandez). Mostly, though, even with the specter of abandonment and blindness (she gets a glaucoma diagnosis at one point), Gloria luxuriates in her own selfhood. She’s empathic and open and essentially untethered to the stultifying dramas that confine the lives of those around her, including Rodolfo and her grown children.
Critics in Europe and the United States praised Gloria for, among other things, its “authenticity.” Carlos Boyero of El Pais wrote that the film dares to show “with naturalness the nudity of people who’ve entered winter, it shows the desire of their bodies.” Betsy Sharkey observed for The Los Angeles Times that Lelio depicts sex between older adults in a way that “is neither gratuitous nor gross nor glossy.” But this marveling is ironically a feature of how invisibility is assigned and thrives. With Gloria, the tragedy is not in aging, but in the much-remarked novelty of a 60-ish woman in bed as something undistorted and even natural—as if it’s a surprise that human desire might persist to the end of life.
Gloria launched Lelio into the ranks of Chilean directors on the international radar, notably Pablo Larrain (of No and Jackie fame) and Sebastian Silva (The Maid). Lelio’s latest film, Una Mujer Fantástica, starring the trans actress Daniela Vega, opens in theaters across the U.S. in February. His first English-language feature, Disobedience, with Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall to acclaim. And now, Lelio is also writing and directing a U.S. adaptation of Gloria, which will be inspired by the original story rather than a regular remake, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will star Julianne Moore, who has made a career of playing fascinating women across the spectrum of human experience, from a porn actress who’s lost custody of her son in 1997’s Boogie Nights to a linguistics professor with Alzheimer’s in 2014’s Still Alice. With a film as innovative as Gloria, whose  ethos of self-deliverance translates across cultural boundaries, the prospect of a “reimagining” is bittersweet. But there’s reason to hope that, with Lelio at the helm, the Hollywood version could be the director’s rebuke to the fact that Gloria has few equivalents in American cinema.
* * *
Most stories about women in or nearing middle age form part of the small canon of post-divorce bildungsroman films, including Paul Mazursky’s An Unmarried Woman (1978), in which an electrifying Jill Clayburgh ultimately thrives after her marriage unravels. More recent examples of similar reckoning include Mike Nichols’s Heartburn (1986), based on Nora Ephron’s novel and screenplay; Richard LaGravenese’s Living Out Loud (1998); Audrey Wells’s Under the Tuscan Sun; and Diane English’s The Women (2008). Still, these movies are about women considerably younger than Gloria and in the midst or immediate aftermath of ill-fated marriages.
Meanwhile, Nancy Meyers’s Something’s Gotta Give (2003) and It’s Complicated (2009) are genial, indulgent films about the desirability of their accomplished, older heroines. But each film winks at viewers with the improbability and counterintuitive humor of its premise; suitors swarm, romantic triangles emerge, and sex is reduced to geriatric antics. Isabel Coixet’s Learning To Drive (2014), based on a Katha Pollitt New Yorker essay, stands out as a quieter study of personal restoration and tackling long-delayed projects in the wake of divorce.
But these are all isolated examples of movies in the vein of Gloria. Since John Cassavetes’s defining films from the ’60s and ’70s, in which the inevitability of aging hangs like a guillotine blade, few directors have taken an interest in the full-dimensional humanity of older women. More typically, an aging woman’s longings are mawkish, or else her besottedness makes for absurdist fun. In Alfonso Cuarón’s Great Expectations (1998), the characters are lithe, contemporary reinventions with the grotesque exception of Nora Dinsmoor (Charles Dickens’s Miss Havisham) played by Anne Bancroft. Nora is all thwarted womanhood, a permanently jilted bride aghast at the dispossession accrued by age. Her face weeps mortician-grade makeup, a willful perversion of Charles Baudelaire’s idea that women wear cosmetics “to make divine their fragile beauty.”
Somewhere on this same small spectrum, Sally Field plays a disheveled 60-something woman who dons a Minnie Mouse bow and stalks after a younger colleague in Michael Showalter’s Hello, My Name Is Doris (2016). Like Gloria, Doris spends her days in a cubicle—that overused emblem of stifled promise. It turns out she’s a “holdover” from a corporate takeover so that even her age is an eccentricity in an office filled with insouciant youth. Then, with one innocuous and misinterpreted elevator exchange, Doris is suddenly reminded of her own vitality, perhaps for the first time since her fizzled aspirations as a bride decades earlier. But now, the movie suggests, it’s too late for her to enter any desirable man’s field of vision, much less a young one. The comedy, of course, rides on her increasingly frantic efforts to do just that.
And this is where Gloria’s protagonist departs from most similar American heroines: She’s not essentially in conflict with herself. Her loneliness is not a grasping sort, but a dignified bid for transcendence. García appears in every frame with near unwavering grace, even when high on pisco sour and making out with a stranger against a graffiti-scrawled lamppost in Viña del Mar. Viewers watch the surface turbulence of Gloria’s life from a still, clear depth, as though the events are ultimately incidental: Rodolfo’s inability to leave the collection of broken, dependent adults that make up his family; Gloria’s ex-husband’s drunken regrets at a fraught family reunion; and her own son and daughter’s unpromising relationships. Gloria cries privately at her daughter’s abrupt departure from Chile at one point, not in a bereft sense, but the way parents can feel like helpless onlookers to their adult children’s flawed lives.
Lelio has said Gloria’s script, written with Gonzalo Maza, draws lightly on his mother’s life, and is broadly an exploration of her generation—women raised for marriage and later caught in the unfettered economic and social changes in Chile after its transition to democracy in the late 1980s. Rising inequality, living costs, and divorce rates spurred by rapid modernization echo in the story’s margins, as do darker insinuations of the country’s unresolved military past in the figure of Rodolfo. The audience sees a backdrop of confinement—stairwells, parking lots, tidy apartments. Santiago is reduced to a gray drift of development that registers vaguely in the reflection of Gloria’s car window. But Lelio defies tendencies to turn each new Latin American film into a thinly veiled comment on history and politics. Gloria’s physical surroundings are bleakly dim and unspecific, with the exception of a brilliant beach where she wakes up at one point, hungover and robbed of her purse.
Of the new English-language version, Lelio has said, “It’s going to be like jazz, you’ll feel the spirit of the original story but it’ll be reinvigorated and vital.” It’s hard to imagine how Lelio’s film needs to be reinvigorated. It’d be easy to make another comically disruptive spectacle of a female character’s post-menopausal sexuality. In less adept hands, if the erratic history of American remakes is any guide—from duds like The Vanishing (1993) and Shall We Dance (2004) to the accomplished The Departed (2006)—viewers might be served up an accelerated plot or sentimental pathos. The Hollywood Reporter inauspiciously suggested that, in Lelio’s as-yet untitled U.S. adaptation, Moore’s character will be “vacillating between hope and despair” over a love affair, before ending on a note of personal vindication.
Admirers of Lelio’s work can only hope the director will handle his new film with the same deftness he used in the original. What’s radical in the director’s vision is that Gloria’s body and desire are gracefully unremarkable frames for seeking pleasure and fulfillment. And that she’s startlingly visible in her ordinariness. Gloria is a sobering reminder that it’s not the “invisibility” of older women that’s the problem, but rather their systemic exclusion from cultural relevance. Whatever acts of contortion Lelio might end up performing to cater to American sensibilities, there’s hope that he’ll at least flout Hollywood biases against the aging female body. And if not, there’s always the original, in which Gloria, in a memorable revenge scene, confronts her fatuous lover with the cool of a hired assassin. How does she follow this act? With a night out—dancing alone.
