Don’t mind me I’m just thinking about how at Stan and Bill’s wedding their first dance was definitely to “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis.

Is there still a Ducktales fandom here? Most of the blogs I followed around the 2017 times have either changed subjects or gone quiet. Well, anyway, if anybody’s still here:
I started rewatching Ducktales 2017 over the holiday, with the intent of finally finishing the last few episodes! I’m in the middle of s2 and very excited. So I went through and started editing my playlist, which hasn’t really been updated since season 1. And I’m wondering if any other fans out there have any song ideas. I’d like to have a fairly equal amount of songs for each major character, and so far my favorites tend to be over represented.
Here’s what I have so far:
General amusement songs:
Ducktales theme song
Quack Quack Quack! Donald Duck
The Three Caballeros Song
Scrooge
The Saddest Story Ever Told by The Magnetic Fields
Hazy Shade of Winter by Gerard Way
Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man
Inside Out by Eve 6
We Are the Champions by Queen
Donald
Trouble Loves Me by Morrisey
The Worst Day Since Yesterday by Flogging Molly
Come With Me Now by Kongos
Battle Cry by Ludo
Return by OK Go (although it’s about Della, from his perspective)
Della
Song of the Sea by Cake Bake Betty
Got to Fly by Marian Call (the best Della song)
Rocket Ship by Kathy McCarty
Huey
The Trail We Blaze by Elton John
Overkill by Colin Hay (I kinda want to replace this one)
In Too Deep by Sum 41
Everything is Awesome by Tegan and Sara
Dewey
Ready for Anything by Skyway Flyer
A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley (the Megamind cover)
Ghost by Mystery Skulls
Louie
Plan B by Five Iron Frenzy
Heist by Ben Folds Five
Here It Goes Again by OK Go
Natural by Imagine Dragons
The Future by Mystery Skulls
Webby
Kids in the Dark by All Time Low
I’m Ready by Angela Michael
Try Everything by Shakira
Beakley
Have You Got It In You? by Imogen Heap
Launchpad
Crash Goes My World by Cadence Grace
Flying by Blue Rodeo
Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra
All Star by Smash Mouth (the best Launchpad song)
Bud Like You by AJR
Holding Out For a Hero by Bonnie Tyler (favorite recent addition, it’s both perfect and hilarious)
Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters
Gyro
Build the Robots by Doctor Steel
Still Alive from Portal
Fenton (should note that his section is a bit of a mess and may include songs that don’t work very well because I was just tossing songs in there to see what would stick)
Rocket Man by Elton John (although it works better for Classic Fenton than 2017 Fenton)
A Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley
Freaking Out by Mystery Skulls
The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats (haven’t tested it yet, but the idea amused me)
Hero by Chad Kroeger
Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons
Mighty Little Man by Steve Burns
Consequences by Buffering the Vampire Slayer
We Are by Ana Johnson
Lena
Opheliac by Emilie Autumn
Glomgold
Opportunities by Pet Shop Boys
Reprehensible by They Might Be Giants
Mark Beaks
Whipped Cream by Ludo
Welcome to the Internet by Bo Burnham
Gladstone
Life Has Been Good To Me by Randy Newman
…and that’s it. As you can see, it does not feel like a complete playlist, covering neither every character nor any full arcs. …except maybe Launchpad who’s pretty well represented with some good and great songs for him. My sister has suggested I try Let the Games Begin and The Good Part by AJR, as well as You Won’t Make a Fool Out of Me by Flogging Molly for Donald, but I would like some songs I haven’t heard by different artists, if possible. Also, please note that I haven’t seen the last five or so episodes of the series yet; I have approximate knowledge of The One Thing, but otherwise am avoiding spoilers until I finish.
Any ideas?

The Masked Singer Season 6 Episode 1 Recap: Group A Premiere Baby!! (Commentary & Guesses)
Hello everybody and welcome or welcome back to Ana's Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of The Masked Singer. The time we have been waiting for is here, the season 6 premiere (ooh that rhymes)! If you don't know how these recaps work, pretty much I talk about the reveals first (major spoiler alert by the way ⚠️) and then get into the remaining contestants, what I thought about their performances, guesses to who I think it could be with the clues to back it up the best I can. Anyways, having said that, let's get started with the 1st recap of season 6 (which is covering the Wednesday episode, Thursday's will be covered separately):
In this episode, Group A performed which consisted of Bull 🐂, Skunk 🦨, Octopus 🐙, Pufferfish 🐡, and Mother Nature 🌬 and 2 of them were eliminated, but only one was revealed this episode, damn cliffhangers, and that mask was:
Octopus 🐙
Tumblr media
Performance Commentary: I was honestly so sad to see him go this early in the season, because I really enjoyed his performance of Tutti Frutti by Little Richard. He probably wasn't the most technical singer but for (spoiler) a non singer he did pretty great! I would buy his album.
Having said that, he was revealed to be:
*FIRST DRUMROLL OF THE SEASON PLEASE*
🏀Dwight Howard 🏀
Tumblr media
Ok I kinda figured it out even though I don't know anything about the sports world... But he is one of the few names I do know in the NBA (my dad's a huge sports guy and I might have seen a meme of him falling so that too). Anyways, can I for one second, point out how tall this guy is?! He makes Nick Cannon look tiny…and Nick is 6 feet! It was so funny… I also was surprised at how funny he was… but yeah Clues, here are some you might have missed or gotten idk:
Survived a hard core fall= yup like he legit fell and hurt himself, which really hurt his game & probably his career
Gold phone= won the 2019-2020 championship with the Lakers
Magic playing card= eight seasons he played for Orlando Magic
Also, I gotta note that Ken got it right and is in the lead for the Golden Ear and that shocked me more.
Next, this mask was also eliminated, but wasn't revealed until episode 2, so I'm just gonna talk about the performance and that was:
Mother Nature 🌬
Tumblr media
Performance Commentary: I'm not going to say I didn't see this coming, because her performance of I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross was the weakest one vocally of the night. However I still enjoyed her as a performer/entertainer and that costume is unreal like wow it reminds me of Te Fiti from Moana (look it up if you don’t know what I am talking about)
Anyways, let's get into the remaining 3 and my guesses for them *
*I just want to preface that I knew I wasn't going to have time to do this recap in between the 2 episodes, so I wrote my guess for this one mask down before they were revealed
1. Skunk 🦨
Tumblr media
Performance Commentary: The beginning was super cool and so well staged, kudos to the producers on that one, but I was pretty underwhelmed with her performance of Diamonds by Sam Smith. Like, that's a great song, but I don't feel it suits her voice & range of what she's capable of doing. All in all, it was ok, nothing wowing about it, even though I do think her voice is very strong.
As for my guess, I think Shunk is:
Faith Evans
Tumblr media
Ok, so this was a guess I got thanks to Twitter, voice matched it, and I am sold honestly… idk who Faith was until now, she was married to Notorious B.I.G, but that’s all I know. Anyways, let’s dive into those clues, shall we:
She was on a train to Seoul, South Korea= Soul Train! = she was honored with a lifetime achievement award in 2018 by Soul Train
Duality/yin and yang of the Skunk= she has a song that references Ying Yang in the lyrics called Goin’ Out
Her connection to Elvis= she devoted a song to her late husband Biggie called “The King & I” and Elvis is the king of rock and roll
2. Pufferfish 🐡
Tumblr media
Performance Commentary: She sang Say So by Doja Cat, which I mostly know the entire song due to Tik Tok, so I hope people also use her version because it’s super solid. When I was watching at first, I was thrown off by the rapping, but now watching it back, I embraced it. It wasn’t the best rapping ever but it was dope ngl seeing a woman like that also kill a rap. I really enjoyed tbh more than I did the first time when I thought her voice wasn’t really at its full potential.
My guess for the Pufferfish is:
Toni Braxton
Tumblr media
After voice matching Pufferfish with Toni, the voice is uncanny! But you need some clues baby boos so here we go:
Voice stands out, she was different, tried to blend in= no like seriously, because everyone knew it was her because Toni has a super distinct voice no one else has
Disco ball= home girl performed on season 7 of Dancing with the Stars, get it disco ball, mirror ball like the trophy they win
Guitarra= she has a hit song called Spanish Guitar, and guitar in Spanish is you guessed it Guitarra
3. Bull 🐂
Tumblr media
Performance Commentary: He sang Drops of Jupiter by Train, and wow HE GOT VOCALS FOR DAYSSS (what he ain’t is shy so stop lying my guy). He is absolutely my favorite of the night, his voice is absolute butter, raspy butter… yes I did just say that but you know what I mean (if you don’t, it’s those nice raspy voices that are so smooth like butter). You could tell he is used to performing and singing, because wow that performance was absolutely fantastic.
Even though he was amazing, he was also super easy to guess because from the first damn note (actually from the first damn sneak peak preview they gave us of him singing), I knew who this was:
Todrick Hall (finally those hours watching YouTube as a teen are paying off lol)
Tumblr media
Before I even get to the clues, just so you guys know, I have been watching Todrick since like 2014 on YouTube and I know his voice and his mannerisms and how he performs and that Bull ticks all the boxes… I don’t even need clues but to show you my point in the form of evidence, lemme back myself up with these sweet, sweet clues (side note: I could even hear his voice through the modulation, which was crazy):
Grew up in a small town filled with cows= yes sir, he grew up in Plainview, Texas which is a small farming town with less than 25,000 people living there (and I am sure when he lived there it was smaller than that) and filled with cows which at first I thought was a metaphor but looking into it I find out Plainview has the largest beef processing plant in the country… hence cows lol
Heard no again and again and again= reference to how he was on American Idol and then lost the show
Didn’t give up, became his own boss= that American Idol loss got him to start YouTube hence being his own boss
Hollywood and Forbes took notice= he has appeared in the 30 under 30 successful people list by Forbes in 2014
Astronaut aka Hunter Hayes= he covered Invisible by Hunter Hayes on his YouTube channel (which is my absolute favorite Hunter Hayes song so you go Todrick… but that video was actually recently sent to private so you kinda can’t see it… also that was a bit sus)
Anyways, that’s it my friends! Sorry it took so long, have had a lot on my plate with school, work, and just life you know? Anyways, I will try to get episode 2 up tomorrow, but expect it before Wednesday for sure 🤞🏼… Anyways, bye guys! Follow me for more Masked Singer goodness, give this beautiful blog a like if you enjoyed reading it, and comment below your guesses, do you agree with me? Did I convince you? Bye y’all!! 👋🏼

3/15/21:  It was 50 years ago this month, March of 1971, the Flamin’ Groovies release their third LP titled ‘Teenage Head.’  What a cool record.  This is the FG’s last record with crazy vocals front man Roy Loney... and this is certainly his album, as he is all over the place... sometimes sounding like a swampy blues man (’Doctor Boogie’), sometimes Elvis (’Evil Hearted Ava’), sometimes proto-punk (title track), and sometimes... just normal Rock guy (’Whiskey Woman’).  This is one of those bands it is very hard to ‘get’ in a vacuum... and I really really try to avoid sounding pretentious, but if you just picked up this record and played it, you may not find anything really special about it... I think one might think it is just some washed up Rock and Roll record.  But at the time, it’s rival in critical circles was no less than the Stones’ ‘Sticky Fingers’ (coming soon!), as being representative of the true Rock and Roll interpreters... it’s been said (or at least I read it in AMG) that the Stones represented the Chess side of R&R, while the FG’s were the Sun side.  What do I think?  Of their early 3 1/2 albums this one was kind of a black sheep for a while... but then over time I started to ‘get’ it... there I go again!  Now, after hearing it all the way through for likely the 20th time, I seem to find value in all the tracks.  ‘High Flyin’ Baby’ is the fucking awesome opener... the guitar sounds like it’s grinding it’s riffs out, I’m not sure if that’s Loney or Cyril Jordan, or both, but they somehow make it metal without metal... freaking buzzsaw!  And then we lighten up for what seems like a lost song from ‘Beggar’s Banquet’... ‘City Lights’ could easily replace ‘No Expectations’ (not that I don’t like that tune... it’s more of mild slam on the FG’s for parroting the Stones’ vibe than anything)... it’s got this wonderful little mid-tempo coda... fast codas on slow songs are underrated!  Then we have a cover of a Randy Newman song... coincidentally the only song I liked off ‘12 Songs’ (I was mean that night), ‘Have You Seen My Baby?’... when they say ‘Hold On’ on the choruses it just works so much better than the original.  After another bluesy number, the decent ‘Yesterday’s Numbers’, we finally get to the sorta obscene sounding title track, although the lyrics don’t really indicate that (well... yeah actually they do, but you gotta listen carefully...)... for a LONG time I knew only this song from this record because it was on a FG’s greatest hits record that focused on their second career as retro-Brit Invasion dudes (won’t get there on this blog unfortunately)... this was the only track representing the Roy Loney days.  So I didn’t think much of it then, but it is definitely a bit caked in the recently absorbed Detroit sounds of the Stooges and MC5, as supposedly the band was awash in their influence at the time.  After a couple more Rockabiliy-ish tunes, we get to one of the best tracks on the record ‘Doctor Boogie.’  If there’s such a thing as R&R from a happy hell, this is it... I can’t think of any other way to describe it... I want to ‘a-haidy hay’ also!... whatever that means... every time Loney says ‘mow the lawn’ right before the solo, I get the chills... it’s fucking great.  Try not to bob your head along!  It’s songs like these that makes me the most jealous of those who can play instruments... like, I want to do this!  And then we get to the album finale ‘Whiskey Woman’, which I’ve linked... probably one of the most fitting album ending songs, it’s just this slow crawl of a blues-rock song that takes off towards the end... a few songs on this record have what I call ‘critical codas’... that is, without the coda the song isn’t quite as good IMHO.  Anyway, with the codas the songs rule.  Besides the regular record (which is pretty short at 30 minutes) most CD versions of this album come with several outtakes that just about double the record’s length, which is awesome if you like what you’ve heard thus far.  Here most notably is their raucous cover of the Guess Who’s ‘Shakin’ All Over’... great little jam in that tune, and they rival the Who as far as excellent covers of the tune.  The other outtakes are decent too, with another long jam in their version of ‘Louie, Louie’ that’s pretty damn noisy.  Really they should have made this whole thing the album because it ends on a very good ending number, the instrumental ‘Going Out Theme - Version Two’... like it, like it all.  This is one of those records I would implore the curious listener to have it on as background music at a drunken party (once we can have those again! fucking COVID).  So I’m done talking about this record, but I want to also say about the band, the Flamin’ Groovies’, that they would flame out for a few years after this record, with scattered singles, management issues, and Loney leaving... and then between 1976 and 1978 they would transform into this bizzare Power Pop group that sounds like a cross between the Beatles and the Byrds... their 1978 album ‘Flamin Groovies Now!’ is another amazing record, but sounds nothing like this one.  They may as well have been two bands.  Anyway, someday I’ll talk about post-1974 music.

hi, meet my bby and pls plot with me (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
hi guys, it’s me, Carmen, this is the part where I reveal that I used to rp here around 2 months ago with a Tom Holland FC named Jake Brooks who was the biggest smoll bean in the world (here’s a link to his dead blog omg he had so much potential rip), sO YEAH PROBABLY SOME OF YOU ALREADY KNOW ME, HI THERE, I’M SO HAPPY TO BE BACK, I MISSED Y’ALL
Now I present to you my bby Danny with the lovely face of the greatest male singer of our generation aka Brendon Urie (◡‿◡✿), have some facts about him:
He was born and raised in New York, down in the streets of Brooklyn
He’s an only child and he comes from a pretty wealthy family so his relationship with his parents has always been cold and distant, they were always too busy working/making money and he was always being cared by the nanny in turn or his grandparents during the weekends
They were the typical rich parents that didn’t care much about his kid but they always gave him everything he wanted/asked for so yeah he grew up pretty lonely but spoiled too u can say
Since a young age he developed a big love for music probably bc his grandpa used to play him his Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, etc (u know, classic and amazing music) records all the time, like he would teach him about his favorite artists and little Danny was just so amazed by all of it
His grandpa passed away when he was only 15 and this was a thing that rlly affected him and he still misses him to this very day, he always cites him as the reason why he started loving music and one of his biggest inspirations
He started to play guitar at 13 when he got a guitar for Christmas and since then he’s learned to play basically every instrument but his favorite is and will always be the piano
During his middle school/high school days he was your typical trouble boy, causing trouble all over the streets of New York with fellow wealthy spoiled kids who found alcohol a fun thing to try at only 15 LMAO he also was always pissing teachers off at school and stuff (we all know a kid like this, don’t we LOL)
Before starting his senior year of high school he decided to drop out and rejected his parents offer of attending Columbia University after graduating and instead decided to move to L.A to pursue a music career, he was just too confident he’d make it and didn’t want to “waste” any more time at school and since his parents never cared enough they didn’t try to stop him but instead gave him the all commodities so he could move in there
After a few months of living in L.A he met other boys that were his age and had the same dream and bonded with them so they eventually formed a band together that they decided to name “The Lost Boys”
Explanation behind the silly band name: u know the Lost Boys from Peter Pan, well!! They related to that concept, like never wanting to grow up and being all alone without their families in L.A, idk if there’s already a band existing out there with that name if iT DOES PLEASE IGNORE IT LMAO i made it all up at 3am last night
Their genre is indie/alternative (imagine their sound arctic monkeyish like they started being teenagers and really loud but evolved into some type of jazz stuff recently as they grew older and started wearing fancy suits)
Even though they are not like Green Day or Muse famous they got their big break a while back (like those throwback songs you remember from the mid 00s that were such a classic), and they’re pretty well known around those who enjoy alternative/indie music and he’s toured all over the world with them!!
So if your character is a musician or has something to do with the music industry/music please assume the connection that they know each other bc he knows a lot of people in the scene omfg
Concerning his love life, well, since music has always been his biggest priority he’s never had a “real” relationship before like he’s had his girlfriends and stuff (most likely models bc rockstar) but he’s never fallen for someone hard enough to want to settle down and get married u know, the no strings attached relationship type are his fave thing too lmao
Personality wise he’s literally the life of the party!! like you’d never get bored around him, he’s extremely confident because he’s well aware of his talents so he may come off as cocky or vain but he ain’t an asshole LMAO yes he’s a diva that loves the attention but he’s pretty chill and easygoing, he also loves partying and liquor LOL he’s hyper 24/7 tbh
THIS IS WHERE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART COMES: he’s father of Teaegan’s (our lovely Demi Lovato fc) daughter but he has no clue yet LMAO none of them do so here I am to bring that plot alive that will kill me with all the feels (they met in L.A since they’re both musicians and had a fwb relationship), his life is about to change forever and he’d have to try and calm down his wild lifestyle bc of her precious baby Blake
He came here to Crownsville after the latest Lost Boy’s tour ended since he had friends come live here and he heard nice comments about it and he wanted to find a quiet, nice place to stay and find some inspiration for the new album, you can find him around performing jazz sets in bars (he loves jazz, in case that wasn’t clear before or obvious lmao)
He didn’t tell anybody he was coming here tho, knowing his impulsive nature he just decided last minute to move in and here he is now LOL
I think that’s it or at least that’s all I can think about I’M SORRY THIS IS SO LONG, and thanks for reading please come plot with me, i love plotting and i love u all (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
ps: please bear with me as I post my first starter and reply to a few, I’m a bit distracted bc of the Coachella livestreams, currently watching Weezer as I wait for my bby Billie Eilish omfg

Theresa’s Sound World Interview
Person: Nicolás Castello
Bands: Nax
Genre/s: Shoegaze/Indie/Dreampop/Ambient/ Post-Punk
Based in: Buenos Aires, Argentina
In my interview, I talk to Nicolás Castello of Argentinian band, Nax about music, inspirations, guitars, pedals and Shoegaze⭐️
1. When did you first feel the impulse to create music ‘’and why?
I started doing music at 17 years old. in that year, something very important to me happened and I felt completely alone. My life changed forever. That was one of the main reasons for me trying to starting to learn something new such as learning to play an instrument and make music. ( I felt old at that moment because of I started from scratch).
2. Can you name the top ten inspirations for your music? It can be anything, bands, songs, albums, books, poems, art, films, people, your own life experiences…
A broken heart
The moon
The sky
My cats
The clouds
Edward Munch
To dissapear
Van Gogh
3. Before Nax, what were you doing musically? Were you in any different bands and/or solo music projects?
In the very beggining I played in a group called "Dorian" with whom I rehearsed and played live for the first times. That was the first group in wich I played and sung.
Before Nax I formed a group with other people called “ (plástico) “ around the 2000’s. In 2008 we broke up and I finished our only LP called "Inercia". In 2010’s I released a solo album called “Infinito”. Also: In all that time I played in a lot of local groups. From time to time there was need for a bassist, or for a guitarrist and I played a lot, rehearsing and playing live.
4. Can you tell me a bit about how Nax got started?
After releasing "Infinito" on my own I wanted to play those songs live and I started to rehearse with other musicians From all that people that I played back then, there were two very special ones, with whom I still kept playing in Nax a lot of years later. Those two human beings are Jonathan Sansone and Juan Marcos Hernandez; the very first formation of Nax in 2013.
5.In listening to Nax’s music, I’ve always thought that your Argentinian accent and your use of Spanish as vocals really complement the music. I’ve found that certain music genres seem to suit certain languages. For instance, there’s several modern Dreampop bands who are and sing in French, reminding me of French pop-chanteuses of the 1960s, so is something that may be rooted in the musical consciousness. Have you any thoughts as to why Spanish might suit Shoegaze?
That’s a nice question. I never thought in this but it may not suprise me that there is some kind of "logic" between genres and languages. I sing in spanish mainly because that’s how I feel it, and I feel it natural in my song-writing as well as how my feelings are expressed. I have no clue if (and why) spanish may suit Shoegaze; but after been awfully bored with Argentinian groups singing in english, I´m very proud of Nax’s spanish songs, because they are very real, very sincere.
6. One of the key trademarks of Shoegaze is its use of guitar pedals to create weird and wonderful soundscapes. With your own music, do you add guitars pedals to an existing song in the same way an artist might use paints to a pencil sketch to flesh it out? Or, do pedals help create, inform, or guide a song? Or is a mixture of both existing songs exhanced by pedals and some songs existing as a result of pedals?
I would say that for me, at least, it´s the last option. Both things. I like to trick myself, so if I discovered something that works very good, I will go and search other ways to make things sound, and play with that I know that works and some, new things waiting to be made.
7. To follow up on the last question, do you take an ordered approach with the settings on your guitar pedals which you know will create certain effects or do you just twist knobs and press buttons and discover interesting sounds by accident?
Thanks to knowing the tools that I use: I can imagine the sounds that the guitar pedals (for example) con provide before playing. So I usually imagine the sounds before playing and recording. Anyways there are other moments (and songs) for experiment, and see what you can do with a unknown chain of effects, or an unknown -twisting knobs-.
8. Have you got an absolute favourite guitar you own and why is it your favourite ? Also have you got a preferred guitar pedal?
The most special one for me it´s Jagmaster Squier that I had modified (and upgraded) almost every part on it. With that guitar I played like a million gigs and composed like a million songs. So: she and I have a special history.
I love all the guitar pedals, but the Reverbs and the Delays by Boss are old-friends of Nax.
9. As a fan of Shoegaze, I’ve noticed there has been a renaissance of the genre in recent years, with it’s popularity and the volume of new and interesting bands always on the rise. As a Alternative music listener back in the 1990s, I saw how the original wave of Shoegaze bands started to disappear, often dismissed and ridiculed by the music press and in the popular culture of the time. Can you think why Shoegaze has perhaps in the 21st century been, in some ways, reborn?
Great question. Probably with music (as with other things in life in general) the movement of everything can be explained with the " Kondratieff waves ".
10. I really enjoyed your recent collaboration with singer Jackie Kasbohm of Echodrone fame. How did that come about?
I´m happy to know that! Jackie heard some of the "Congelado" songs and she approach to me in the 2020. We become good-internet-friends, she is a really nice human being,a caring and supportive musician and a great artist. Around September of 2020, I think, we started to talk about doing a song together and she sent me a little Casiotone-loop. I change the pitch of the loop to a "C" (I had to move it only a couple of cents) and I picked four chords for the first part. I recorded a demo for her and she starting to work on her vocals. A couple of months and work later we already had "En la Mañana".
11.Have you any plans for Nax, post-pandemic? Gigs, new recordings, collaborations, side projects?...
The future is uncertain. I would love to keep composing new songs, and new albums. And maybe at some point I would love to play live again, but not for now or in the near future.
And finally, for fun...
12. A line of dialogue written by film director Quentin Tarantino ...‘There’s only two types of people in the world, Beatles people and Elvis people’ Perhaps a little limited in scope, but do you sway more towards the Fab Four or The King or, perhaps both and why?
Good phrase. I choose The Beatles. I don’t consider myself as a fan or anything similar, but in the late years I started to take them as an" educative " group. I try to learn from their songs, I like to analyze them, at least for fun.

What is it about the Beatles??? (I’m at peace.)
Tumblr media
On January 30, 1969, on the roof top of a London office building, the Beatles performed together for the very last time and soon the band would no longer be together. That was over 50 years ago. And yet…the Beatles music is still so very prevalent today. People from 2 years old to 92 years old know the Beatles’ music. On any given day, either on social media, terrestrial radio, somewhere within the pop culture realm, there will be a Beatles song or reference. I was struck this past spring, as I was grabbing an afternoon coffee right around the time school was letting out. Approaching me on a village street were 4 middle school age girls, walking arm and arm and arm and arm, enjoying the warm early spring weather singing…Here Comes the Sun. A song written almost 40 years before they were born! I was both amazed and not amazed at the same time. What is it about the Beatles???
In the recent film, ‘Yesterday’ we were shown a world that was void of the Beatles’ music, until a young musician started playing their songs (which, as a result of some cosmic occurrence the Beatles’ music did not exist except for the main character), “introducing” the world to their music. Yes, it’s a fictional tale, but people were so moved by the songs, when hearing them for the very first time - in 2019. So let’s start there. The songs. These are really really good songs! Songs with themes and messages that seem to transcend time. Songs that speak for us. Songs as relevant today as when they were written:
-       “When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me…”
-       “All these places had their moments, with lovers and friends I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living, in my life I loved them all.”
-       “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make…”
-       “Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be. There’s a shadow hanging over me, oh yesterday came suddenly.”
And then, of course, there’s the cultural impact of Beatlemania. And yes, they revolutionized music but…again…that was over 50 years ago. What about Elvis, Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Disco, Motown, Miles and Coltrane, Grunge, Metallica, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Tupac, Jay-Z, Glen Miller, Britney-Katie-Miley-Ariana, Beethoven? Not…the…Beatles. Will anything in music or pop culture ever be as big as the Beatles? It seems as though the longer we listen to them and the more that their time recedes into history, the more vital they sound.
The Beatles gift (among many) was harmony; both literally (I’ll Be Back) and figuratively (All You Need is Love). And isn’t that what we want in our lives…harmony? We have so few constants in our lives, but through the last half century, and most likely continuing for as long as mankind listens to music, we had/have the Beatles.
“The Beatles were the first to actually find that middle path between the artistic and the intellectual, and at the same time still be on the street.”
-     Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones
Music has unexpected power, especially when we are feeling down or out of sorts. Music can help to console or simply provide context for us to “feel” and experience (work through?) what we are feeling. In the Beatles music, in those lyrics that we may have heard a thousand times, we can always find something new. Something that speaks just to us in that very moment of despair or desperation…or reflection…or melancholy. Something that can help us process. That is the Beatles music. In working as a music therapist in a hospital setting, working with adults between the ages of 21 and 100, I play music by the Beatles more than any other band or artist. I don’t think a day goes by where I don’t play something (or Something) by the Beatles. No matter what the issue, we can always find something in the Beatles’ music to help us process our emotions and feelings.
At the hospital, I recently visited with a woman in her 70s, in the oncology unit who had been there for several days dealing with low blood counts among other issues. She was very pleasant and reported feeling “pretty good”, saying that she was hoping to go home later that day. She smiled when introduced to music therapy saying, "I love music!” Even though she was dealing with advanced cancer, she appeared to have a handle on things. As music was introduced she was smiling and almost dancing in her chair, singing along to various songs from the 60s and 70s. She seemed to be enjoying herself. But suddenly, things changed quickly. When I started playing Let It Be, she became quite pensive; a real change from just a few moments prior. After I finished the song, I just gave her some space, a few quiet moments. Then she softly said. “My boys…they loved the Beatles." She got a little teary and without prompting, spoke about her children. She told me that 2 of her 3 sons have passed away and that her daughter also has cancer. Another pause…she started reflecting on her own cancer. “It can be hard. The pain… And knowing what the outcome will be.” Again, while listening I gave her more space for reflecting. She said, “But, I try to stay positive… I just try to move forward. You have to deal with what comes at you. It's hard...but I just try to keep moving forward. I try to look at things in perspective." And then, with a slight smile, “I'm lucky to have what I have." I told her that I admired her resiliency and her strength. I told her that I found her inspiring. She smiled and said, “Well, I hold onto the good memories – that is what keeps me going...better than focusing on the bad stuff. I try to think about the happy times that we had. And we had many." She gave a soft smile. I reflected on how it is important and comforting to focus on the positive and how powerful having gratitude for what we do have can be. I then presented a song for reflection (In My Life) and a song for moving forward (Here Comes the Sun). She smiled…"I feel good. It is what it is but I feel good. I’m at peace." After more silence she took my hand and said, "I do love music."
Music and meaningful songs can be very powerful. And is it really a coincidence that the music (those lyrics) that brought everything up for her was…the Beatles?  I’ve seen it a thousand times, whether it’s Let It Be or Nowhere Man or I Will or…(fill in a Beatles’ song here.) And when these types of feelings come up, they need to be processed accordingly; through listening and validating and discussion. This is what music therapy can be in the oncology unit. Music is and brings up emotion. Music therapy can be a powerful experience in finding, expressing and processing those emotions. And, in helping us move forward...“Here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right.”
The healing power of music…

Joey Stuckey interview.
One of the most amazing things about “The Shadow Of The Sun” is that it was actually recorded at the legendary Sun Studio, located in Memphis, TN. If you are a fan of classic rock and roll music, you probably don’t need me to tell you that Sun is one of the world’s most legendary, seminal and influential recording studios. During the 50s, the studio hosted iconic artists as diverse as Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, and many other performers have channeled the true audio magic of that timeless location over the years.
Joey Stuckey had the opportunity to hit Sun Studio while he was on tour with his band. On that occasion, they cut the basic tracks for the album and set the mood for their amazing record, which was eventually completed at Joey’s own studio (Shadow Sound Studio). Note how the names of both studios make an appearance on the title of this album! I love the fact that Joey managed to combine organic sounds from such an iconic studio, and his own home-based studio, combining familiar sounds with rock history.
We had the chance to ask him a few questions!
Tell us more about your new music.
The new album is called “In The Shadow Of The Sun” and the basic tracks were recorded at Sun Studio in Memphis, TN, while the band was on tour. We really just did it for fun but ended up liking what we captured and decided to finish the record at my studio (www.shadowsoundstudio.com) and make it our next album.
The original goal for the session was just to capture the trio’s sound at that moment in time as I was pleased with the great sound that I and my brothers in music, Charles Arnold on drums and Nestor Jaenz on bass, were making. We were so grateful to also have some amazing special guests, Randall Bramblett on B3 organ, Tom Rule on keys, Al Chez on trumpet, Darrel Hendricks on trombone and the Howard Middle School Concert Choir!
Where are you from?
I was born in Green Cove Springs, FL, and was so honored and humbled to be given the key to that amazing city! I lived most of my childhood in Jacksonville, FL, but I have lived in Macon, GA, for about25 years and I am proud to say that I was appointed the official music ambassador for Macon, which is a true music city as it is the home of Otis Redding and Little Richard and more recently Jason Aldean.
When did you know music was going to be your passion?
Music has always been an important part of my family! My mom sang in church and my Dad played in a few local bands in his youth. My parents always had music as part of any celebration and it was always playing at home. My first real record was The Beatles “Yesterday and Today”. I got it when I was about 7. Music increased in importance once I hit my teen years and I started loving the idea of being a sound engineer. As a blind person sound is my universe and I took to recording it quickly. My first job was as a sound tech at a planetarium and from that local bands found out I had some very primitive recording gear at my house. So I started getting requests to record local bands! Once I heard that first “garage band” play a song they had written, I was hooked and I knew I had a story to tell and music was going to be my vehicle.
From a health perspective, I am a brain tumor survivor and have a lot of challenges. Music is a great way to refocus my mind so that I am not focused on discomfort or pain but on something positive!
What memorable responses have you had from your audiences?
Wow, that is a good one. Two pop into my mind at this moment. The first was when a guy came up to me when I was playing guitar for a friend’s band. He said, “I am a guitar player and I love your tone, but I have to ask, where are you hiding all of your effects pedals?” I told him I didn’t have anything except my guitar, amp and wah pedal. He was amazed at the tone I got just form my hands and how I played the instrument--that was a complement that made me happy for weeks :slightly_smiling_face:. The second was at the end of a long gig at a local club for New Year’s Eve. I was running a 102 degree fever and one of my bandmates didn’t show because he accidentally double booked himself and decided to take the higher paying opportunity, even though I had asked him first. Then one of my guys got drunk between sets (I am still not sure how) and I said to myself that sometimes this business can be ridiculous. I thought,” after this gig, I am done”. So at the end of the night, all the guys in the band wanted me to play our usual closer that always brings the house down, but I was just exhausted and barely had any voice left. I said, “no, we’re going to play my version of Amazing Grace”. The band was flabbergasted. What was I doing? Well, we played it and people liked it fine, but probably thought it was an odd choice. I got off stage and just wanted to go home and go to bed. Suddenly, a lady from the audience ran up grabbed me and started hugging me and crying. I was surprised, to say the least. I didn’t know what to do, so I hugged her back and asked her what was wrong. She said, “I am in town tonight after attending my uncle’s funeral. He was a gospel singer and his favorite song was Amazing Grace. They were supposed to have it sung at his service today but they didn’t. I have been upset about it all day and then you sang it!” At that moment, I understood that music wasn’t a job, not even a passion, but a true calling, a vocation, and I was in the business no matter what until I shuffled off this mortal coil.
What would be your dream musical TOUR to go on?
I would love to tour the UK and the rest of the EU as a supporting act for an amazing artist, like Neal Finn or Paul McCartney!
How do you see the future of independent music?
Lots of positive things are happening within the music industry and some not so positive. Basically, most of the business will go to streaming and something called the “ Utility Model”. You can check out my blog at www.joeystuckey.com to read more about this foregone conclusion. While there will always be a place for vinyl and CDs and some Blu-Ray content, downloads will disappear over the next 5 years and it will all be streaming. This is actually not a bad thing as artists with long careers and lots of music releases in their catalog will do well. However, we must lobby Congress, RIAA, and stay active with NARAS and other artist friendly organizations to make sure that the royalty rate is raised for streaming. At least to that of terrestrial radio, which isn’t good, but better than what we have now for streaming.
What are you most looking forward to in the rest of 2019?
We are getting ready to start our summer tour and we are doing well with radio! So that is exciting. Other projects include me getting ready to start work breaking ground on my new recording facility, a truly massive complex with some amazing unique features—visit www.shadowsoundstudio.com to check out what we are up to, and I am starting teaching for another university in August in addition to the ones for which I already am blessed to teach.

Rose Notes:  32 Chapters “Cliff notes” Style
Tumblr media
I love social media, I like meeting new people, I like getting to know them and connecting over the things we have in common so I thought it would be fun to lighten the mood a little with a blog about myself – 5 random and fairly well known facts about me, with a little twist to each -  My life is pretty open I believe there are 32 amazing chapters, each has taught me something about myself that it makes this book worth reading, or for some of you – skimming! (or judging the cover) but the fact is social media is meant to be user controlled - it’s what the user wants to portray, the “life” the user wants published- the user’s narrative. I’ve said it before that some people use social media for their marketing other to grow their E-commerce portion, others use it to display their photography and personal trainers use it to sell their services and I have seen some people make a career using it – although I agree social media can open up a lot of shade however there is a benefit that not everyone is comfortable taking advantage of.
I think the obvious things people ask when they are getting to know someone are the basics- where are you from, what do you do-what’s your sign- the obvious who what where kind of thing (Canadian girl and Cancer btw, lol) I also have 1 sister, she is 3 years older and a mama of 5 amazing kids- Noah 15, Madison 14, Violet 12, Jilly 7 and Eli who is 3- my favourite color is purple and I love old school chick flicks like Dirty Dancing and the Body Guard- Whitney Houston was my idol growing up and the reason I starting singing in the first place – My grade 1 best friend Kristy and I used to choreograph routines to her music all the time and would perform in front of the class (lol) seems so lame now but she was so much fun and I can remember even at 6 years old how carefree I was!
Which leads to fact 1 –
Fact 1 with a (neat) twist- I love the stage, I grew up singing at such a young age that it almost all blurs together, but there are a few things that I was able to do that I remember clearly- I remember starting singing lessons at 7 years old with a teacher named Mrs. King- oh my god she was terrible but she got the job done – I started competing in competitions when I was about 8 with songs and routines from Disney and YES I had costumes and YES I have pictures- I even managed to inherit the nickname Mad Jasmine because I was Jasmine (A whole New World) from Aladdin and Danny had just beat me again for the 10th time, he was actually really freaking good and beat me every year until we were like 13 lol ) And if you ever tuned into Chym FM on Christmas Eve and listened to the Kids Singing Christmas carols – that was us and my first taste of being in the studio and since then have had many!
Shortly after that it was larger competitions, bigger stages, larger crowds like star search which held its main event at the London fall fair every year ending with auditioning at Canadian Idol 3 years in a row (until the Canadian version was cancelled lol) but in between all of that I was lucky enough to audition for local theater and was an extra in a movie that starred Glenn Close (which was shortly after her role in 101 Dalmatians and really cool for me to be standing 50 ft away from her.)  A lot of this time I spent travelling with my mama and she even stayed over night in line with me when I auditioned for Canadian Idol lol I have loved music since Whitney Houston wanted to Dance with Somebody and true to nature still plays a huge role in my life today!
Fact 2 with an (interesting) twist- I am married, but did you know that I could have been raised as his cousin and how completely different my life would have turned out?
When I was born on June 28th there was another mom in labour at the exact time in the room beside my mom- thinking back 32 years the same precautions we have now when a baby is born were not in place and I was put in the arms of that other mother and a baby named, Rhandi was placed in my moms- after debating the identity of us children we were switched back and I assume I went home with the right family (I look an awful like my mama) but growing up I always knew the story as it was often used against me when I did something wrong or when my mother wanted to make joke about who I really belonged to, but who would of thought that in Grade 9 I would meet the girl I was almost switched with AND have her quickly become one of my best friends and although I never met him prior to when we started dating, I some how ended up dating her cousin who is now my husband, Matt – and as we always talked about in high school Rhandi and I became family, and the family I could have grown up with as my “aunts, uncles and cousins” are now my mother, father, sister and brother in laws! Lol
Fact 3 with a (sad) twist- I have a 7 year old son named Colton, he is in Grade one and seriously the funniest kid ever, he is smart and clever -I knew from the second I found out I was pregnant that I was going to have a strong willed child, independent like his mama- ready to take on the world- and he sure proved it when he came into the world 6 weeks early and absolutely perfect-   the doctors told me “he knew he was in distress and he put you into early labour” and I remember them telling me how Lucky I was – but pregnancy was tough for me– I was sick ALL the time and there were so many close calls where I thought we weren’t going to make it to the end (and we didn’t) and that fear of going through it again terrified me so much so that we put off having another child until I felt able to handle being pregnant again-
After many years of being asked “when’s the second one or worse, what’s taking so long” it got harder to hide the sadness of admitting we miscarried twice and after what seemed like years of trying with no success, I was recently diagnosed with Endometrioses and told that chances are another baby just is not in the cards for me anymore –
so, I have to admit that I still have not come to terms with that and it’s absolutely heart breaking to know that that one thing a women is supposed to do is something I actually can no longer do but as people have told me I have hit the jackpot with Colton, he is such an incredible child and I am really lucky to be his mama and my sister in law is pregnant and I will get my fair share of baby snuggles in July when we visit them in PEI!
Fact 4 with a (career) twist – I went to school for Interior Design and have an obsession for everything houses and renovations. I own a 115-year-old century home that is true to all its character- mind you It has been in renovations for the last 2 years but it’s beautiful and I am obsessed with all the original wood! I thought for sure I was going to have a career in real estate, when I was 20 I had a 5 year plan to go through school to get my license but 20 year old Jenna fell in love with boy, moved to London and just kind of settled into his life –He broke my heart lol, and I ended up moving home about a year later and I got involved in the fitness industry when I met a girl named Marta, we quickly became friends and she introduced me to 6 am work outs in the park, squats and the burpee bottle- which is like fight club…We just don’t talk about the burpee bottle. Shortly after that I started working with Anytime Fitness and I have to admit I knew nothing about the fitness industry short of what Marta had taught me, but I had a passion for sales and social media and it happen to work well in my favour, I moved up quickly and had so many amazing opportunities not just in my career but in my personal life as well, The first time I ever got to travel outside of Canada was with Team Bazely, we went to Nashville for a conference, as a team we toured the city, the recording studio where Elvis recorded his albums and ate at some of the most incredible restaurants- I heard stories from Keni Thomas who survived Black Hawk Down and Elizabeth Smart who was kidnapped at 14, survived and lives to tell her story! I got to experience my first burlesque show, I leaned to line dance in a 3 story bar and Shannon made sure I got to sing in Nashville, even if it was in a dirty dive bar at 2am just before we were about to make the 11 hour drive back over the border, I also experienced my  first “hangry” episode where once again, Shannon saved the day and supplied salads for the rest of our trip, but honesty I learned so much about the industry and about what being apart of a team was like - I can remember that being the week I really fell in love with the fitness industry - I also got to travel to Lake Placid, New York for another conference where I partied on the Olympic ski slopes, set 2 Guinness world records with over 2800 clubs worldwide, Represented Canada and carried the Canadian flag into the Lake Placid Olympic Center in front of thousands of people!
I experienced bobsledding first hand and met so many amazing club owners and staff members- I even got to watch keynote speaker and YouTube sensation Gary Vaynerchuk where we were first introduced to Rick, But I also had the opportunity on many occasions to meet the CO-Ceo’s of AF and pick their brains – they had a way of making fitness fun- I remember it being 12am sitting outside of my hotel room in Lake Placid with another Manager from a club in Arkansas and Chuck and Dave walked towards me, I said hello, they called out my social media handle “look it’s Canadianrose” which may not seem like much BUT with over 3000 clubs worldwide and thousands of faces in the crowd they recognized mine - I met some amazing people and in a round about way I found Zumba which as I have mentioned owns my heart, and where my next venture is going to take me – working with that team taught me so much and played a huge role in who I am too, and indirectly opened doors for where my passion lies and although it may not be interior design I am in control of marketing, social media and the complete design aspect of what’s next and I am allowed to be creative!
However, outside of working with Anytime, I have never travelled but I am dying to go somewhere warm!
Fact 5 with a (reality) twist – I am not only what you see on social media, I am a human being with feelings and someone who is really struggling right now to do what’s best for herself- which hasn’t always proven to be easy.  I have started therapy, it was necessary for me to ask for help because I am having a hard time finding who I am. But what I am that is never going to go change is that naturally charming girl that I talked about months ago, my experiences that I have mentioned above have curved my path and have contributed to who I am today- I own that and I am confident in my own skin and the decisions I have made, I am bold enough to call someone on their bullshit, I have the strength to take on an already failing empire just to have my voice back and you simply cannot match what I bring to the table – and I am confident enough to eat alone-and I am confident enough to portray the real me on social media and in real life going forward and throughout whatever venture is next!
And to answer the above 2 truths and lie- I do not drive a Mercedes!
