that's the one! I fucking loved it. on a technical/artistic note, it's been a hot minute since I've seen a movie understand how to use a wide shot properly, and the way it uses the camera feels so genuinely enthusiastic about the story being told that every minute is a visual delight (my main critique is that I mostly wish that it was more colorful, but eh)

ive noticed people seem to struggle with understanding how “strilonde bits” work. they think that irony is purely about something being shitty in a meaningless, one layer joke.

the homestuck writers themselves really thought rose would name her own daughter “yiffy”. because oh haha isn’t that a shitty and funny name to saddle a child with. no! that’s not how their brand of irony works!

rose lalonde would name her child something overly grandiose but not technically horrible like “coraline constance jones laika lalonde harley”, then wink and nudge at everyone about how Sophisticated the name was; as if to say LOOK how silly it is for parents to be fancy about that shit.

but in reality rose managed to pull the book coraline off the shelf during one of her mother’s worse lapses at age 9 and read it eighteen times in one night relating to the main character so hard she cried. and she chose that name for her daughter partially because it’s near and dear to her heart, but also because she hopes her daughter never has to feel as neglected as rose did as a child.

like… i know the extremely painful mischaracterization in hs2 has been beaten into the ground by fans by now, but the idea it purports that rose lalonde is straight up mean and uncaring, especially towards her own child, still leaves an incredibly bitter taste in my mouth all these years later.

A scarred hand traced up and down (your name)’s smooth cheek. The youthful individual furrowed their brow a bit from the touch, but ultimately stayed fast asleep. The steady rise and fall of their chest made Doppo’s heart soar.

A deep chuckle left chapped lips, a smirk now on his rugged face.

“Look at you sleeping so soundly like a little angel.” Doppo hummed, his eyes softened at (your name)’s peaceful expression. This was one of the rare times he didn’t see apprehension and fear on their face when he was around.

Doppo crawled into the bed to lay beside them. The bed dipped a bit with his added weight, a small squeak rung out in the air. Yet it did not dare to wake the sleeping beauty before him. Perhaps he should wake them with a kiss like those fairytales they loved so much? No… Doppo shouldn’t be greedy.

Doppo knew he didn’t deserve the privilege to lay beside them, but he wanted to feel their warmth without them fighting back for once. Without having to feel their teeth and nails claw and bite at him when he simply wanted to show them his overwhelming affection for them.

Doppo buried his face in the back of (your name)‘s neck and inhaled their sweet scent with a content sigh. This simple crumb of physical contact could suffice for now.

Doppo may have captured them and held them here with him against their will, but he wasn’t a monster. He could wait until they were ready for a more… intimate relationship.

Doppo smiled into the skin of their neck, his hot breath lightly fanned the delicate skin. Doppo was okay with all of this, he was more patient than his son.

Doppo knew it was wrong to desire his son’s crush, but he just couldn’t help it. How could he not fall for such a sweet little rabbit like (your name)? They were so sweet to his ignorant son. (Your name) always made Katsumi homemade bentos, brought him towels, and went to his tournaments… and Katsumi only blushed and would say thank you. Katsumi didn’t show them enough appreciation. Not in a way Doppo could.

Doppo saw himself as a much better fit. His son was inexperienced and cocky while he was experienced and patient. Doppo knew his way around the body quite well. And who wouldn’t want an older man to give them the world? Doppo was sure he could blow (your name)’s mind in the bedroom if they consented to it.

Doppo pulled (your name)’s body closer to his to snuggle. His mind continued to swim with his thoughts until he felt as if he was drowning in them.

Doppo would keep (your name) safe, he’d give them as much time as he could while the two of them lived in the mountains together. He’d be their solace and protector. He’d protect them from their volatile parent.

Doppo had witnessed firsthand the verbal and emotional turmoil their parent released on them on the daily due to them not being married outside of the tournaments they’d go to. The parent would be red in the face and spit venomous words at them like a cobra. And what made it worse was Katsumi wasn’t even aware of it. His son hadn’t put a label on their relationship so (your name)’s situation was worse in the parent’s eye.

As a parent himself, Doppo couldn’t understand such nonsense. (Your name) deserved love and they deserved to be protected… love and protection that Doppo himself was more than willing to give them.

“I’m a middle aged man… willing to protect you for the rest of my life.” Doppo whispered with a soft smile on his face.

Little did he know that (your name) was awake this entire time. Silent tears fell down their cheeks while their delusional captor held them close. The stubble on his chin tickled a bit but they made sure to keep their breathing steady to not raise any suspicion.

His pine scent oddly calmed their nerves and his muscular body was warm and comforting… like a father.

(Your name) could feel Doppo drift off the sleep. The steady rise and fall of his chest confirmed their belief. Maybe they could try to escape? It was worth a shot.

They slowly scooted their body off the bed, careful not to wake the beast. But Doppo was sharp despite his age, his muscular arms shot out to grab them at an incredible speed. He latched onto them just like a fox that latched onto the neck of a rabbit. That sly silver fox pretended to be asleep.

Meanwhile, Ronan is a mess of anger and sublimated self-loathing, rebelling against Declan's authority as his legal guardian because he knows deep down that Declan is one person who is never going to give up on him, no matter how much he may fuck up or push him away

Declan doesn't even believe in god anymore but he still drives a 4-hour round-trip every week to go to mass with Ronan. The catholicism really jumps off the page, and with that comes HELLA daddy issues too, as both boys are canonically "made in their father's image" (the father, Niall, strongly and repeatedly paralleled with god) -- Ronan to the point of being an almost identical copy of him, so Declan/Ronan carries with it shades of Declan/Niall too

When they were small children, after Ronan (a supernatural entity not born in the traditional fashion) was brought into the family, their parents had decided to kill Ronan out of fear of what he would grow to be. They only didn't do so because when they went to carry out the deed, they found Declan cuddled up in bed with him, comforting him in his loneliness.

Declan shoots up an entire building at the mere insinuation that his brother is dead for good. Carried around his limp (alive?) body for a bit. Ronan is psychosexually obsessed with Declan's sex life + describes him unnecessarily erotically in his POVs. Both hot (CRUCIAL)

Seraphim Angels – Meaning and Importance

The Order of Seraphim and Their Characteristics Depending on the Abrahamic religion to which you’re referring, the Seraphim take on slightly different characteristics. But all three Christianity, Judaism and Islamic beliefs indicate these burning beings are closest to the throne of God.

Seraphim in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam According to Christian accounts, the Seraphim are the first order of angels, next to the Cherubim, and sing His praises all day. Today, some branches of Christianity propose that there is a 9-level hierarchy of angels, with Seraphim and Cherubim being at the highest levels. However, it’s important to understand that the Bible doesn’t identify any hierarchy of angelic beings, so this is possibly a later interpretation of the Bible.

Jewish traditions also believe in Seraphim in a similar manner to that of Christians, but they give a more in depth look at their character, order, appearance, and function. Most of these Judaic references place Seraphim as fiery serpents. It’s this reference to snakes that distinguishes the Seraphim from the rest of the orders of angels.

In Islam, no specifics are mentioned about the Seraphim except there are only two who sit nearest to God’s throne. These differ in that they have three wings on their faces, instead of two. They are beings of light who carry the recorded deeds of humankind that they will present on Judgment Day.

Appearance of Seraphim In one of the few accounts we have about Seraphim in the Bible, they’re described as having six wings and many eyes, so that they can watch God in action all the time.

They are described as having eloquent and indescribable beauty. They have large, booming singing voices, and enrapture anyone blessed enough to hear them in person.

Their six wings are a peculiar feature.

Two for flying, which represents their freedom and praise.

Two for covering their faces, so that they will not be overwhelmed by God’s brilliance.

Two on their feet, to signify their humility and submission to god.

However, in the Greek Orthodox Bible, it says that the two wings veil the face of God rather than the faces of the Seraphim.

When considering translations in this way, literal interpretation of varying texts becomes important to understand the full scope and picture. This is because older languages don’t always convert easily into English.

The Role of the Seraphim The Seraphim play an important role in Heaven, singing unceasing praises to the Almighty.

Praising God Seraphim sing hymns, dance, and exalt the praises of God and His infinite holiness. This highest, holy order of angels combines love and truth while reflecting divine compassion and righteousness. They are a reminder to humankind of the Creator to His creation, showing how to sing and revel in God’s praise.

They do not sleep, keeping constant vigil over God’s throne with unceasing song. This gives them a sort of protective guardianship role in conjunction with the Creator.

Cleansing Away Sin Isaiah’s telling of his experience with one Seraph points to their ability to remove sin from the soul. This particular Seraph carried a hot coal from the altar and touched it to Isaiah’s lips which cleansed him of sin. This act purified him enough to sit in the presence of God and to be his spokesman for humankind.

The Trisagion Their ability and constancy in songs and hymns also shows us another major aspect to the purpose of Seraphim. The Trisagion, or thrice hymn, which contains the triple invocation of God as being holy, is an important aspect of the Seraphim.

In Brief The Seraphim are burning angelic beings who sit closest to God’s throne, offering songs, praises, hymns, dances and guardianship. They have the potential to cleanse souls of sin and teach humanity how to honor the Divine. However, there is some debate concerning what exactly the Seraphim are, with some indications that they are fiery serpent-like beings.
