Even though I shouldn't be, I'm plotting out a Pacific Rim fanfic and something about Gottlieb's math on the frequency of the attacks bugged the fuck out of me. I just spent way too much time creating a more accurate timeline of every single kaiju attack. Also, nothing in the math indicates a double event, so I'm gonna have to figure out a valid reason for it to occur or it's gonna bug the ever loving fuck out of me.

Is my math perfect? No. Is it better than the movie's math? Yes. Sorry, Hermann.

All of this because I wanted werewolves and a Werewolf Jaeger in PR wtffff

Alright here me out I have the greatest au. I’m gonna give a run down of who is who and then the whys. FFXV Pacific Rim. And no. Noct is not Becket. This is a Nyxluna au. Gonna do this as a read more cause. Lots of text.

Becket-Nyx Mako-Luna Pentecost-Regis Newt-Prompto Gottlieb-Ravus Tendo-Ignis Chuck-Gladio Herc-Clarus Hannibal-Ardyn Yancy-Libertus Jake Pentecost-Noct

Now here’s why. Becket is self explanatory. Nyx and Becket are so much alike. I mean. What did Nyx do at the beginning of the movie? Defied orders to go back and save Libertus. What did Becket and his brother do at the beginning of Pacific Rim? Defy orders to go out and save a civilian boat and engage the kaiju. Both are willing to go against orders when they think it’s the right thing to do. The hero type. Also because my brain has, since I saw Kingsglaive, for some reason, associated Becket and Nyx. Like. Idk why but it did. Immediately. So. In this case, Libertus will die. (I know I made myself sad) But it makes sense them being brothers. I know Nyx had a sister in the movie but. Come on. Let’s let Libertus have this bit. His death causes Nyx to quit being a jeager pilot. Now he’s helping build a wall. (HA. A wall) When Regis shows up wanting him to help out again. 

So. Then you have of course Regis. He’s the Marshall. A jaeger pilot from way back. He rescued both Luna and Ravus from a daemon attack years ago. Imagine the scene when Mako was little except this time she has a brother with her. Who is also still young at the time. I’m just seeing that moment when the daemon is baring down on them and Ravus is using his own body as a shield over Luna when the daemon gets ripped away. They come around the corner and its Regis coming out of the jaegar after he kills the daemon. And then there’s the whole, relationship between Regis and Luna and in this case Ravus that mirrors the movie. Because they grow up raised by him. Practically his kids. And then he dies. Like he does in Kingsglaive. Saving them. Saving everyone. “You can always find me in the drift” Like please. My heart can’t take it but it fits. 

Which of course Luna then is Mako and her and Nyx get to drift together and Nyx being all puppy love over her. I would also like to imagine that whole training scene as Nyx getting his ass handed to him by Luna. That would be funny. Now for Ravus. In this case Ravus grows up a little nicer than in canon. But..I still think the idea of him being the slightly grumpy but also adorable scientist is perfect. And him and Prompto being partners. Heh. I love it. The fucking scene when Gottlieb and Newt do the drift together. I’m kind of..totally not throwing shipping in here what are you talking about? This is also in reference to Prompto’s dad in canon being in charge of the magitek development. So scientist. And then Ravus being put in charge of command of the magitek army. Soo. For this it’s those two as scientists. Working on jaeger stuff. And bickering. And I mean. This way instead of Prompto being a magitek experiment. He just..drifts..with a daemon. Which leads to Adryn being Hannibal. Ardyn was all about daemon’s right? Well. Let’s imagine a..less antagonistic and more creepy daemon part collector. That Prompto has to go meet. To get a brain. “It’s classified, so I can’t tell you.  But it’s pretty cool, so I might tell you.  OK, I’m gonna tell you.” And at the end Ardyn gets eaten by a baby daemon and all is well with the world. 

Tendo is Ignis because..at first I was gonna have him be Gottlieb. But then..Something clicked for me to make that Ravus and the next best option is Tendo. Tech. “Brains: behind the jaegers. Yea. Ignis isn’t the techy type. But..I think this still works. Gladio is Chuck because lets be honest. Gladio can be an ass. Case in point, him being mean to Noct in the game after Luna’s death. I can see Gladio being the perfect Chuck, proud, cocky, and not impressed with Nyx being the “hero” who is brash and doesn’t follow orders. Herc is Clarus because he’s Gladio’s dad. And the relationship between the father and son. Also more reason to cry. Clarus lives and Gladio dies. I’m hating myself for a few of these whole, plot changes. Trust me. And lastly, Noct is Jake. We haven’t seen Jake in the movie, he’s in the second one. But he’s Pentecost’s biological son. And for Regis that would be Noct. This way, we can have a more sibling relationship for Luna and Noct. Which I like when we’re shipping Luna with Nyx. That way there is no hard feelings or bad blood. 

I love this idea. I ain’t writing it as a fic. But god. Just. The idea is there. So many good scenes in Pacific Rim that are great for an au with FFXV. So. Have these headcanons.
