This was an ask I accidentally deleted! Oops! I also listen to all the music I put in here! So it’s also a small glimpse into what I listen to! Also as some of you know I’m in the scemo and goth subcultures! But I know a lot about alternative cultures period so this was fun to make!

WAUGH okay so basically like everyone villainizes her when shipping Sonic with any other character (and 99% of the time its Amy being villainized against a m/m ship ://) but yeah Amy canonically has a "crush" on Sonic and stuff (which is weird in its self cuz age gaps and things but creators smh) and anyways any time people write Sonic in a relationship with other characters they always make her super upset and mad that Sonic isn't dating her etc etc and basically make her a pouting 12 year old because her super hero crush doesn't date her instead of writing her as a supportive best friend to sonic WHICH SHE SHOULD BE WRITTEN AS !!!! and uh yeah if you couldn't tell this makes me so upset because amy is such a good character people should stop ruining her

Relena Peacecraft

She made the mistake of having a crush on the serial killer/child soldier lead character, and also wearing pink. Like, she's one of the OG characters to have a "-bashing" tag on FFN and then AO3. The other half of the yaoi pair was a boy with a butt-length braid, a fake American name, and a priest outfit. Poor Ms Peacecraft never stood a chance.

Relena is a very competent and accomplished character with her own plot lines and goals in a series full of complicated political and military upheavals. The main characters are 5 teenage boys who pilot Gundams, and each boy has at least one potential female love interest counterpart (all of whom are interesting characters in their own right). Relena is the counterpart to the main pilot, Heero. Her importance to Heero and the story is substantial enough that yaoi shippers often feel the need to kill her off specifically, while other female characters get to play the roll of supportive fujoshi friend to the yaoi ships instead. The hate for Relena was truly vitriolic in the height of the yaoi fandom in the mid 90s/early 00s, so much so that the memories of her tortures live on in my memory to this day…

she suffers the indignity of being an implied LI in the most fujobait season of gundam ever and for that she had to die (in fanfiction) just look at any 1x2x1 fic on any platform, be it ffn or private website or anywhere, she gets vilainized to hell and back, if relena does not win this fuckign poll i'm goign to jump off a bridge she was villainised SO FUCKING HARD have you ever tried looking for any 1x2 fic that doesn't have relena bashing. it's impossible. she deserves a hefty victim's compensation from Big Yaoi is all i'm saying.

Why the show? Work under the mafia doesn't really give her much freedom to have a dating life as she would like. She had plenty of suitors/bachelors etc but for her, it was just fun. However, her long-term goal was always to be a wife and start a family.

SHOW DETAILS: This started out as a valentine special but now we're here. Long story short, this is a baggage game/visual novel dating challenge. Ngl sometimes i feel like ppl are harsher on amy cause shes a girly character.

I've seen my fair share and more of bigotry aimed Amy's direction from straight up misogyny to more nuanced pigeonholing and appeals to power. That last bit in particular is interesting when you see people compare Amy to the likes of Sally, Blaze, and Rouge, with her lack of authoritative power or an "important" job being used to belittle her. Even more so how some people insisted that she was underserving when she did land such a position, so it could be her "girlishness" that people take offence to. That would not surprise me either considering there are people who have said that her "girlishness" and being open about her desire to have a relationship with a boy whom she structures her life around makes her a bad role model.

My thoughts on Amy representing the joy of just being yourself and never giving up on your dreams aside, looking at Sonic for role models is itself not a great idea since one of the values of the main character is to never compromise, a mentality in the real world that leads to war, murder, crime, abuse, and lots of other horrible things. So yeah, in that way Amy is a bad role model, but she's a fictional character, her job is to entertain you, not teach you how to live your life. So if her silly "girlishness" isn't someone's thing, it's better just to say it than try to justify it with misogyny and bigotry thinly veiled as watching out for all the girls out there who could be encouraged to enjoy traditionally girly things and like boys who inspire, motivate, and fill their lives with joy and happiness.

Don't get me wrong, it's easy to warp Amy's character into a symbol of pro abusive patriarchy as her character is kind of two-sided that way. I mean, if we look at what Amy wants, to be a part of Sonic's life and adventures, just to see him being him, Sonic doesn't even have to reciprocate her feelings. This traditional patriarchal idea feminine values revolving around a boy is very toxic and implies just a man's presence is enough to fulfill all of the life goals of a woman. That isn't good at all. It is however, a less than surface level look at the relationship the two have.

A lot of people like to cite that Sonic loves to run and Amy chasing him gives him reason to run. Even Hoshino-san (the man who led her creation) has alluded to that aspect of their relationship, so it's natural to see it as an important part. However, that is still looking at only the Amy working part of the relationship, and she works at it a lot, which is both for and against the toxic patriarchal view of her role and femininity. Consider, in a true patriarchy men are entitled to any woman they want and competition is limited to looks and looks alone. The work Amy puts in to have her dream fulfilled isn't necessary. Only her looks, which ironically Amy's focus on her looks is usually joked about at being at the expense of her health. She can take care of everyone else, but when it comes to selfcare she's literally only skin deep. Another fine example of Amy having aspects that work in a toxic patriarchy, especially if we consider that Amy's looks became more important to her chronologically when we transition from the classics when she wore whatever and was just another hedgehog to dressing herself up in a highly revealing outfit, that happens to be Sonic's favorite color (it's red, not blue like most people think. Just look at his shoes, plane, and even cars that he was affiliated with back in the classics) with her spines(/quills) distinctly styled. It's obvious that she wants to look good for him, which is indeed toxic patriarchy at it's finest in the handling of a female character. However, it is also a sign of love, to give unconditionally to the one that you love. But this then means that we have to look beyond just the patriarchal relationship where men are entitled to any woman of their choosing and actually need to look at what Sonic gives Amy.

Understanding what Sonic gives first requires stepping back and getting a bit meta, remembering that Amy was made specifically to be a girl in the franchise, Sonic's girlfriend (in a nontraditional relationship), and to have a personality that allowed her to perpetually chase after a guy who only looks forward to his next adventure or challenge. A lot of people call the happy-go-lucky girl who that birthed annoying and delusional, but it also shows a lack of knowing Sonic himself, something that the Sonic Origins and Sonic Prime versions of Sonic and tails' first meeting distorts. That will be relevant a bit later though.

While Amy's genki girl, rosy, and bubbly personality is what most people lock onto, usually insisting on a change in it, citing misogyny as a reason to practice misogyny against the type of girl that Amy is, the most important aspect of Amy's personality, designed to fit Sonic and his lifestyle is frequently overlooked. Even before meeting Sonic, if we go by the original continuity of the games, Amy's Rosy the Rascal moniker told us that she was the type of cheerful and optimistic girl who routinely got into and caused trouble for her own amusement. The getting into trouble part is the really important bit as Amy herself words it best in Sonic Adventure when yearning for the days of excitement she had as part of Sonic's adventures. She yearns for adventure, and expresses a love of it. And she isn't unexperienced either, as again, in the original continuity she travels to Never Lake on the order of the cards. The thing about Never Lake however, is it is a barren wasteland when Little Planet isn't present. This means that she went out there herself under her own power. She could not have done that without being at least somewhat experienced as an adventurer herself, and that's not even counting that she managed to get herself up onto Little Planet at all. But it shouldn't be a surprise since one of her hobbies is dowsing, a method for finding water, or treasures. This implies that she again enjoys being out either hunting treasure, or just needing to find water, a skill necessary when out in the wilderness, something an adventurer would be. Sonic being a world famous globetrotting adventurer in the original continuity also shows why she would have heard about him and wondered if her destined encounter would be with him. She's a hedgehog adventurer herself and he is the pinnacle of that, the pinnacle she wants to respect her as an equal. Amy being an adventurer is a huge, yet overlooked and underappreciated part of her character.

Now though, with Amy's character better examined, and why Sonic, his way of life, and even his trouble finding personality all can appeal to our rosy rascal, it is time to address his reciprocation to show that there is more to their relationship than a entitled toxic patriarchy. To that end, we have to again look at Tails and how he met Sonic. Origins and prime muddy things by going against the original continuity and actively having Sonic rescue Tails from his bullies. That never originally happened as it undermines Tails' character message of learning to stand up for yourself. What happened in the original continuity is that Tails seeing Sonic in person for the first time (again, he knew about him because he was a world famous, globetrotting adventurer from before even the first game) was a moment of tremendous inspiration for Tails. Actually seeing him made Tails want to stand up for himself and be cool like Sonic. To that end, Tails started following Sonic around while Sonic was on his runs on Westside Island. And this went on for days with Sonic actively being annoyed by it, only his live and live attitude allowing Sonic to say to himself to let Tails do as he pleased. And it's not like Sonic didn't try to lose him either. He did as I recall, but Tails could still keep up because of his namesake. And while I could go on here, the important for Sonic and Amy's relationship has been revealed.To help clarify the above, I'm actually going to refer to a moment from the Archie comics. A lot of game Sonic fans will consider this wrong, but for all of the bluster against interpretations of Sonic outside of SEGA of Japan, there are several things that became part of Sonic's character, chilidogs most notably. However, this fact allows for an example to be drawn to show Sonic's reciprocation of Amy's feelings and how that manifests. The moment in this case is a Sonally moment loathed by SonAmy fans and fans of Sonic's character alike. The moment when Sonic tells Sally that he can slow down for her. Loathed as the moment is, it actually captured an aspect of how Sonic handles romantic relationships.

While slowing down doesn't work for Sonic realistically in a relationship with Sally, since she outright requires Sonic to stop (exemplified, distorted as it may be, by the infamous slap), Amy is willing, desires, and has the freedom to put in the work to catch up with Sonic. Thus, when not overwhelmed by Amy's energy and overflowing emotions, Sonic will slow down for her, allowing her to chase after him into the adventures that she loves so much. A fine example of this is in Team Sonic and Team Rose's ending in Sonic Heroes where he could have easily outpaced her. When comparing how he treated Tails, who he still subconsciously expects to just keep up in casual situations, slowing down at all instead of trying to leave her in the dust speaks volumes. Addressing why this is all Sonic does to reciprocate Amy's feelings requires examining some of the bigotry inherent in the attack on Amy's girlishness as a reason to hate her and hold her to impossibly high standards.

To start, it has been stated by Sonic and Amy co-creator, Ohshima Naoto-san, that Sonic has the eternal heart of a boy (he really feels like Peter pan sometimes), but if he matured that he would choose Amy. So, this again puts us in toxic patriarchy relationships between a boy and a girl again, but as I said, there is bigotry at hand beyond just misogyny. Arophobia is easily the most blatant, though aphobia in general manifests when addressing Sonic's lack of romantic gestures, something Amy herself has indirectly said she doesn't need regardless of her cravings for it.

If you look at the larger LGBTQ+ spectrum, you will discover that aromantic and asexual people are part of the community. Or people who feel little to no romantic or sexual desire. To a lot of aspect people Sonic is extremely relatable as he just typically doesn't respond to it. For most people this says that Sonic doesn't like Amy, despite their co-creator saying he does. This would imply then that their is more going on, intentional or not, than just a boyish heart that is too immature for responding to the open heart of another. Such a heart however typically comes with expressions of disgust towards girls and a direct rejection of feelings that the boy doesn't understand. Sonic is presented very differently from that, usually just keeping his distance or fleeing when overwhelmed (this can also lead into discourse on how Sonic is actually very introverted but has a really good public façade and script). But as you follow the history between Sonic and Amy, you'll actually see him soften from being annoyed at her public displays of affection (something shown even in early concept art with his concept girlfriend Madonna, who Amy inherited the personality of), to being willing to walk side by side with her, letting her stand close, lying down next to each other and more recently actually returning her hug. This slow development shows what is potentially a demiromantic response (can still be aromatic, but my research isn't complete enough to make that determination), bringing forward the idea that Sonic simply needed time to form a bond close enough with Amy that would allow him to experience romantic feelings towards her. This is very different from the toxic patriarchy idea that Amy does all of the relationship work, as from am aromantic or demiromantic perspective, he very well can't put in the work Amy does as he isn't wired in a way to be able to, which aligns with the idea that it doesn't match Sonic's character as stated by Hoshino Kazayuki-san when describing why he gave Amy the personality that she has. It also means that anyone citing toxic patriarchy against the SonAmy dynamic are potentially themselves practicing bigotry, intentionally or not, against aromantic and demiromantic persons.

In conclusion, yeah, Amy's girlishness is definitely used as a point against her. But using it as a point against her is usually a sign of ignorance; either of the characters, their relationships, or the words and intentions of heir creators; failure to realize that Sonic is not a good role model himself, despite his heroic readings, meaning just by liking him and wanting to be part of his life neither is Amy, despite her representation of the joy of just being yourself and never giving up on your dreams; or bigotry through pigeonholing women into "acceptable" personalities and roles, and refusing to acknowledge that aspec and demispec persons exist. It's a very shallow reading of Amy's character and the complexity and nuance in her relationship with Sonic. And as thought exists on the conscious and subconscious levels, this isn't a matter of thinking deeper than the creators did (a strange claim to make without proof), as nothing exists in a vacuum and we all have far more subconscious thought then we ever give credit to. Trying to attack Amy's girlishness at best is just a sign of ignorance and/or malice, and I find that these days it's just so much easier and better for me to ignore that.

Sorry that ended up so long and meandering anon. It's a topic I can get very into, and I completely left out a lot of how I think Amy's girlishness helps out her and the IP on a whole due to the difference in perspective and approach that it brings.

Les Miserables 1948 pt 2 (a) : In Which Absolutely Nothing Will Be Explained

Warning that those posts, like this post, contain spoilers. Yes even if you've read Les Miserables. Especially if you've read Les Miserables. I really strongly advise not reading this post if you think you're gonna see this version soon because going in unspoilered was a treat.

Credit where credit's more than due: this is a fantastic way of introducing a large group of new characters and a new setting (wider Paris)! As they discuss their work, we learn more about them, their goals, and Parisian politics. Elegant and efficient! genuinely , I love this approach and wish more adaptations would do something like it

Unfortunately, while they do showcase several people doing various tasks, they don't name all of them--a shame, when it would have been so easy! But we do get to meet

Marius flirts with Cosette by guessing that her favorite author is ANDRE CHENIER!! Valjean sends Marius some mixed messages by hiding him from the cops and then telling Marius to go away and then going to Marius' apartment to tell him to never try to see Cosette again and frankly,dude, a guy could think you were following him!

Oh yeah Marius' apartment is an inn run by the Thenardiers. Eponine is the general serving-girl there and he's just as conscious and careful of her feelings as he is in the book:

We also find out that Marius is living in the Thenardier's new inn on CREDIT?? Thenardier is just...bankrolling him?? WHY (this will not be explained so just forget it)

Marius goes to meet Cosette (whose dresses, in keeping with this show, are Pretty Darn Good!)

--and I have to say I think this show does a good job (so far!) with Valjean and Cosette's relationship! Yes, he's overprotective and keeps them too isolated-- but he does it out of concern rather than control, and she's not afraid of him, she trusts him and worries about hurting him, not being hurt by him, and he's always concerned for her safety and happiness above all. As she tells Marius in this scene, she never even noticed how isolated she was before-- she's been happy! I think they really get some of that Gothic haunted element around this house and Cosette's life , and it's great!

Marius leaves for the Revolution, telling Cosette to not worry for him (!) and Cosette goes inside and gets told there's a man waiting for her ??

Thenardier tries to scam Cosette by pretending to be an old friend of her mom's

And it's actually a fantastic scene? Cosette reveals that she knows nothing of her past, and we can see how that's made her vulnerable; and we learn how desperate she is to learn more about the mother she can't remember.

I really like this move to make Thenardier Cosette's villain/nemesis, the haunt from her past! it makes so much sense , given...everything else up to this point...and gives her a chance for some excellent character moments!

Fortunately Valjean interrupts Thenardier's attempt to Scam Cosette! and then Valjean and Thenardier agree to meet at the Old Mill Thenardier Inn?!?

And then ..

ok what happens next should obviously be the Gorbeau Raid, except:

Marius has nothing to do with it. At all. Marius is not anywhere close to this, he's gone to join the Revolution, remember?

I cannot usefully screencap this scene, its genius lies in its pacing, but also I am not sure how it's relevant anymore to the entire rest of the show! Kicking out Marius' Thenardier/ Napoleon issues kinda destroys half the relevance of the scene and Valjean and Thenardier already having acknowledged each other (and Thenardier knowing where he lives!) removes most of the rest. All we have left is FIGHT SCENE but then that's what this movie is about baby!!!

Well, who could have predicted what went down between SA2 and now. And I imagine if certain events went differently, we might some things would be way different. Especially when English is telling one story and Japanese telling another. (He wasn't the only character who experienced writing issues, his in particular just became "unfocused" after a while until they started scaling back the cast a bit.)

Hmm, probably would have helped if he had more kids around his age to interact with frequently. Cream slowly faded to the background {to her fans' dismay}, Marine is in Blaze's dimension and good luck finding Charmy interactions. Closest thing now is Sage and that's a mystery for now.

I think his theme song pretty much laid out his aspirations and still holds true for his Frontiers story in both versions of it. Presented differently in it and SA2, but ultimately the same goal: Finding his own style and path. (How far his potential goes really depends on him, so him pushing himself in different ways [and perhaps at times too much] could make him discover more things about him he hadn't before. That, wanting to show his friends his new skills is a good motivator too. xD)

I don't expect a drastic timeskip either; at most it'd probably be a few years. I'm sure they want keep the characters relatively similar-looking in nature if they ever decide on any physical or outfit changes to fit their current story, but not disrupting the iconicness of the designs. It's not the same as making an adaption with a different art direction. (Heh, I actually like the idea of him having a ponytail, to go along with his tails. Like Bark's, but shorter. But I can see them going for stylized models; the Mario crowd has been going nuts over "Wonder".)

In Boom's case, since it was meant to be its own subsection, the characters having designs that distant them from their Modern selves made sense from a marketing standpoint. Mixed on release, warmed up since but not wholly. At least wasn't the early concept art, Sega stomped down hard to get what we got. (It was mainly Knuckles and Sonic that got most of the criticism, with Amy to lesser extent, and Tails having little to none. Heck, some think his Modern self SHOULD have the goggles and toolbelt. Funnily enough, some did like the idea of a bulkier Knuckles, just not top-heavy, and more like his ancestors. And I have seen some scarf/adventure-looking Sonics here and there. And the surprise that was Vector, that leather jacket does suit him.) In any case, making changes isn't easy. Execution matters so much.

Considering that Eggman has a Vtuber model now; that'll likely mean other characters down the line, depending on the topics that pop up. (Though Shadow does feel like he's next. Hoping that his is mainly him and Tails before Sonic inevitably pops in, which is a recurring gag for that series.) But yeah, just a few fun shorts. Nothing crazy.

Yeah, his development from sa1 to sa2 made sense, it's unfortunate that it didn't work out in the long run.

Actually... idk about that. I feel like interacting with the other kids a lot would only highlight how more mature he is compared to them. When with his own friend group of older friends he still comes off as more childish than them. Maybe if they'd leaned into "youngest characters all being friends" from the start, but we'll never know now.

(Though take this with a grain of salt since maybe I also have a bit of resentment over people trying to metaphorically "banish them to the kids table", as if they all need to hang out with each other just because they're the same age.)

Yeah "Believe in myself" is a great theme for Tails and I feel like. You need to listen to it to understand him as a character, though I feel like it fits what he's going through in Frontiers somehow better than sa1? Like, a lot of the stuff mentioned in the song you can't really get from his story in the game itself (or maybe I just. forgot or wasn't paying enough attention). (Though it might also be the case of them writing frontiers and using the song as a baseline for his character and arc, while in sa1 it was probably the opposite)

Maybe they will change up some clothes!(Tails with a little ponytail? Aahhh it would be so cute) (I do agree with those people I wish Tails had goggles and a toolbelt in the mainline series. Maybe not on a permanent basis but at least goggles when he's flying? On the other hand, I do enjoy the main characters all having pretty simple designs. I also agree with Knuckles being bulkier, I like what they did for the movie, it just makes more sense for the type of character he is)

I only brought up Boom as an example of people reacting negatively to the redesigns, and it wasn't even canon.

Man Shadow could give us so much lore. I need the next season of TailsTube now (I can't believe it was a whole season? 4 episodes? Tails you hack) Man I really want some Tails & Omega interactions. almost paradise outfit references

alright so this is for those y’all who are interested (thank you to @thenerdygorl​ for unintentionally requesting this. i am happy to scream about any and all little details regarding the fic so this gave me the push i needed to do this masterpost LMAO)

obviously this is just what i’ve pictured when writing the character of the reader and her style evolution throughout the series. also this is just meant to give you a vibe for the fits, none of this is like ‘THIS IS WHAT SHE WEARS PERIOD’. although we can’t see her, clothes have an incredible effect on storytelling and character development, so i have always had this in mind when writing. the clothing evolution from s1-s4 would tell the story of the reader’s character development from the judgemental, slightly pretentious, on the fringe of high school society girl we meet originally to the now vulnerable and incredibly lovesick woman that lets steve harrington hold her heart in his hands. i pray this is reflected in what is shown here - i am by no means a fashion expert or costume designer lmao. some of what i was influenced by is discussed in the incredible video by gq where amy parris (the lead costume designer) explains how she created looks for some of the characters in the show, like keeping the hawkins gang within a earthy color palette except for certain characters. ANYWAYS enough rambling.

season one:

season 1 oh boy. depression and confusion central. high school sucks. she has only one goal - get through this. college is right around the corner. due to this, fashion/looking good is by no means the priority, but it’s not not thought of. so... darker colors with only a hint of personality, hence the deviation from the typical stereotype of all black.

a large part of this fic is the importance of knowing someone for who they really are. the colors here, again not all black, reference the reader’s true personality that lies beneath the surface - the personality that certain people have cared enough to see, while also being the only people the reader is willing to let in. she can be hostile to those she despises, but incredibly warm and maternal. a select few people get to see that side of her.

babes needs a couple good jackets (this is stranger things) so literally any leather and/or heavy fleece lined denim will do. maybe there’s a lil denim on denim action since it’s an easy outfit and she’d manage to pull it off. also boots. hiking, combat, i don’t care. it adds to the tough exterior. tee shirts, thin turtle necks, tees layered with a long sleeve under it under the jacket. but important to note - you’re not hiding under your clothes, there’s a shape/figure there.

season two:

cindy crawford’s late ‘80s/early ‘90s looks are doing a lot of heavy lifting here in my inspo. they’re classic looks so they’re gonna look good no matter the era. the outfit inspo itself doesn’t change between seasons 1 and 2 but the colors do. as you can see... we get a lil bit more vibrant here. nothing too crazy, but had to include a burnt orange for the halloween vibes. the lighter blue and grey are thanks to letting a certain boy into her life - his friendship (and looove) gives her that tiny confidence boost that she doesn’t even recognize.

that being said... she starts wearing sneakers more often. nothing as bright as steve’s but his influence is apparent. she pulls out her old pair of nikes and finds them more comfortable than the boots she’s so used to trudging around in.

season three:

this is self explanatory lmao. lifeguard uniform the entire time accompanied by a pair of white reeboks and some midrise socks! would be absolutely iconic next to the scoops uniform, argue with the wall.

season four:

my personal favorite. this is where the most personal growth has happened. the colors are brighter, reflecting her willingness to be honest and more in tune with her emotions. the jackets have been mostly ditched due to the warmer weather. this is the most confident she’s ever been, and her clothes show that. tighter sweaters, more comfortable sneakers.

but when shit hits the fan, forget it. we’re back in action hero mode. sarah fucking connor. ellen fucking ripley. tanks and dark pants. the boots come back. a flight suit courtesy of war zone, the top half tied around her waist until it’s time to face vecna. bulletproof vest. it’s about practicality and comfort, but she looks incredible. i want her to step on me.

hair:

honestly just choose your fighter. just know that the hair gets bigger and more luscious the longer she’s with steve (you can’t tell me that she doesn’t steal parts or almost all of his hair care routine). i don’t describe hair for obvious reasons so you can imagine whatever hairstyle, texture, length, etc.

a femme fatale is a women who shows power through how well she can toy with a mans brain. in hindsight she might seem like a women catered to the male gaze due to the strong enchantment she has upon men, but do not be fooled. a femme fatale is a strong willed and powerful women who only caters to her own needs. she achieves her goals by seducing her pawns to use them to her own advantage. channeling in the characteristics of a femme fatale can make one feel powerful, sexy, and oh so alluring. to become a femme fatale you must ooze with seduction. femme fatale examples include gilda, from the movie “gilda”, jane smith from “mr. and mrs. smith, and amy dunne from “gone girl”.

feel powerful when you walk from one place to another. let other people stare at you while they feel intrigued by ur allure but never completely give them what they want.

in my own definition a coquette to me is a girl who is delicate and radiates innocence. she is more commonly known as the girl next door or the pretty girl. people become attracted to this essence due to the childish ways of a coquette. though that sounds concerning, a coquette isn’t a women who tries to act like a child on purpose. she is just a women who is naturally sweet and innocent. they hold onto a childlike quality that the rest of us have lost and so desperately crave. the allure of the coquette is ultimately her adorableness. her demeanour is light hearted and youthful. no one feels the need to do her wrong because she is just too cute for any harm. she is an ingenue. examples of coquettes are lizzy grant, cat valentine from “victorious”, alice cullen from “twilight”, and marilyn monroe.

wear clothes that make u look cute. the coquette aesthetic has been around for quite a while. the main aspect of a coquette outfit is its innocently teasing nature. wear bright colours that compliment ur skin like a blush pink, bright reds, and pretty lilacs. make people around u appreciate ur innocent look but know that there imagination is running wild. the makeup for these looks are more natural and rely on the condition of ur actual skin. take good care of ur skin. have a set routine but remember that it’s completely okay if u have pimples! you can still be a pretty little coquette even with acne.

vanilla or any kind of sweet scents are a staple for the coquette essence. ariana grandes perfumes are perfect for making people mouths water for a sweet snack when u walk by. olympea by paco rabanne is my personal favourite.

be kind and sweet to people who deserve it. people need to see u as a sweet and innocent doll who can do no wrong. but don’t be afraid to be risky and be the complete opposite of that once in a while. the rare moments where u show ur femme fatale side will have people incredibly intrigued by you.

perfect your voice. your voice should sound pleasant like some sort of princess. make your voice sound higher but not ear screeching high. add a beautiful mix of air and softness to ur voice. a breathy voice is incredibly intoxicating and suits the coquette.

in a confused, rushed, or disorderly manner.

also known as the manic pixie dream girl, a pêle-mêle is the essence of a girl who is described as whimsical, eccentric and is quite literal the life of the party. though at first glance she’s all rainbows and sun shine, the shadow side of the pêle-mêle can be described as a tortured artist. her optimism is delightful. she is not afraid to take risks. she’s a mess but people can not help to be intrigued by her free spirited ways for she is a drug to people who crave adventure. examples of a pêle-mêle include ramona flowers from scott pilgrim vs the world, mia wallace from pulp fiction, harley quinn from the DC comics, and holly golighty from breakfast at tiffany’s.

don’t be afraid to take risks. risks and adventure is what the pêle-mêle lives off of. be brave. do things you are afraid to do. start small and work your way up like from riding that roller coaster your so afraid of to having a motorcycle race with your friends (trust me those are so fun!). show people just how daring you can be and immediately people will be magnetized to you.

wear clothes that are unique and you feel comfortable with. the pêle-mêle rejects conformity and the way you appear should reflect that. wear clothes that harmonize with your crazy personality. be daring and bold with your makeup. make sure you stand out from the crowd and that you do not care what people think. the alternative style perfectly suits someone who embodies this essence.

be confident. obviously this rule applies to all the essences but confidence and self love is at the core of the pêle-mêle. you need to show people that you do not care what they think of you and that at the end of the day, you are just here for a good time. the more you practice self love, the easier it will be for you to express yourself without the fear of judgement from others.

what kind of aesthetic catches your eye? do you enjoy the glamorous high fashion life or do you like the softer cherry coke and heart shaped sunglasses niche? maybe you enjoy completely different things or a blend of a few. live up to this aesthetic. do this by expressing this aesthetic in the way you dress to how u decorate your room.

you might be thinking to yourself hey these aren’t the best tips for school. and at an educational standpoint you’re right. but it’s important to embody your best ideal self to truly enjoy this lifetime. these are little things that can be used to motivate you. i believe that inner self work should be prioritized over your school work though both are important. make sure you are taking some time out of your week to find out more about yourself and who you want to become. be the best you.

A lot of adaptations of Les Mis make Valjean a little evil, a little overly violent, a teeny tiny bit sexually predatory and that's fine if that's what you're going for but it's also, let's face it, the cowards choice.

If I was in charge I would make EVERYONE evil. Or more accurately I'd reverse everyone's morality like that one episode of Star Trek TOS where Spock has a goatee.

Here's how I see it happening(not NSFW but there are references to sex, sexually predatory behaviour, child abuse, murder, child murder and ahistorical clothing):

Myriel during his time in Spain became a Master Thief, amassing a great fortune, he became a priest to avert suspicion from him. Unfortunately he made a lot of enemies who had proof of his crimes and threatened him into retirement. But hey being a bishop is pretty good too: nice salary, big house, good food. It could be worse.

One day Jean Valjean (violent criminal) who got imprisoned for twenty years after beating his nephews to death to use as firewood comes to town. He wears all black. He breaks into Myriels house and almost managed to make off with his secret stash but Myriel catches him and decides that, since he can't go on with his life of crime, Valjean should be his evil apprentice. There's an episode that's just evil My Fair Lady. Valjean was already cunning but Myriel teaches him to blend in with high society.

Meanwhile in Paris Devoted Father Tholomyès is struggling to raise his Daughter in the light of God. This is difficult because her Mother, Fantine who is a slinky red dress wearing brunette, absolutely refuses to marry him or stop sleeping with her string of other lovers. She sells his Fathers watch for gin and mocks him for loving her. She is bisexual but only so she can have on-screen threesomes. One day he wakes up and she's gone, gone with his precious Cosette. Oh, the tragedy.

Thenardier, honest inkeeper and war hero, doesn't listen to his wife when she begs him not to take that bewitching red-lipped woman's child but he'll soon wish he had.

Fantine is having the time of her life. Free of her child she wanders to M-sur-M where she gets a job by seducing her way through the(male unless it's a threesome) population of the town. She soon becomes the most powerful woman in town. Only two men don't bend to her will, the mysterious Mayor and the police inspector Javert.

Javert knows corruption runs deep in this town, he knows but he is powerless. The most he can do is give money to the exploited child workers of the Mayor's factory so they can afford medicine for the limbs that the Mayor breaks when they aren't working fast enough. The Mayor is also a bisexual but we only ever see this telegraphed with sexually predatory behaviour towards Javert.

One day Fantine almost murders a man in the street because he asked if she would donate some money to the Orphan Fund. Javert arrests her but the Mayor(who has only been referenced by other characters so far) appears to see why a legitimate arrest is being made. Gasp! It's Jean Valjean but wearing an even sexier all black outfit. There is immediately blazing sexual tension between Fantine and Valjean. They begin a violent love affair. Eventually things turn ugly: Fantine attempts to turn Valjean in for money, Valjean tries to murder Fantine and Javert tries desperately to arrest them both. It's a fun time for everyone but Javert. Eventually everything sort of turns out like in Canon with Fantine dead and Valjean in prison. Despite constantly beating her whole time she was alive Valjean claims that Fantine was the love of his life and runs off to find her daughter(he knows about Cosette because Fantine would have him read the Thenardiers letters to her so they could laugh at her stupid daughter for getting sick)

The Cosette pickup goes the same but Cosette is eating the Thenardiers out of house and home. Cosette has dead eyes and decapitates flies. Fantine hasn't sent them a single sou for Cosettes care but despite all this they still try to stop the incredibly suspicious Valjean from leaving with Cosette. For a while they succeed but then Valjean beats Thenardier with a rifle and sets their inn on fire.

Marius grew up with his Father. Georges Pontmercy won all his military awards by stealing the accomplishments of a man named Thenardier: Marius is told if he ever meets this man he is to murder him immediately in order to dispose of the final person who could contradict Pontmercy's lies. Marius says things like "With pleasure...Father!!!" Or after his Father died " We were once Barons and I swear on my Fathers grave we will be again!!". He goes to Paris to study/plan the murders of his extended family.

Les Amis de L'ABC are just fully chaotic evil, utter gremlins(Marius argues for the importance of a strong leader and order but Combeferre sneers "Order is an illusion. Chaos is a ladder") they have regular brutal fighting matches to ensure they're all worthy of being in the group. What are there political goals? We don't know but probably something scary. Loosely aligned with each other only due to their thirst for power.(weirdly I guess this makes Grantaire kind of the token "good" teammate in the same way he's kind of the token "evil" one in canon.)

Mabeuf used orphan bones as an experimental fertiliser. He's determined to catch Gavroche: they have a sort of Tom and Jerry thing going on. Mabeuf is financially stable in this but he often let's his household go hungry as he becomes more and more obsessive and greedy in his book collecting.

Marius sees Cosette in the park and falls in love with her instantly because evil has no awkward phase and Cosette became a femme fatale at 13. He vows to make her his Dark Lady Baroness. Meanwhile Cosette thinks she can use him as she uses her Father. Valjean lusts after her and Cosette ENCOURAGES it because a literal child can TOTALLY be responsible for the feelings and actions of an adult man.

Eponine is caught between the honest attentions of Montparnasse, the man her Father approves of, and the dark attraction she feels for the flared nostrils and dark secrets of Marius Pontmercy.

A complex game of murder-sex-betrayal ensues but everyone lives and ends up kind of happy apart from Thenardier who dies to send his children away to a better life in Canada and Javert who gets shoved of a bridge by Valjean. Cosette married Marius. Valjean still lives with them and they run an evil criminal Empire. Les Amis all swindled their way into positions of power.

As Cosette and Marius are out walking one day they come across a worn old Gravestone they laugh at this pauper's grave then kick it over, forever concealing the inscription: Tholomyès, devoted Father.

do u have any jealous jake and/or amy headcanons?

(tbh I can't see either of them being the extremely jealous type, as in angry or spiteful about it. At most the kind of jealous Jake is so scared about in The Puzzle Master, being grumpy and disagreeable.

But I do think they get those pangs of insecurity that create jealousy a lot. Like neither of them believes they're 'good enough' for the other at first, so when someone shows up who they think is better it scares them.)

- like... Amy had a hard time dealing with Jake's many, many first dates back during his heaux phase when they were just annoying tales he'd share with Charles the next day and she pretended not to be interested. But once they're together, they obviously run into his ex-dates from time to time while out in Brooklyn, and she notices how they're all such gorgeous, girly women which is not what she thinks she is at all...

- at first she tries to emulate them, and worries about her looks insofar as asking Jake constantly what he thinks of this outfit, or if she should change her hair, or maybe get make-up tips from her teen cousin again. Which all seems absolutely ridiculous to Jake because there's nothing sexier than her pantsuits to him except maybe for her flowery blouses and especially those bold-coloured dresses he gets to see her in sometimes. And yeah Amy wearing lipsticks for special ocassions is absolutey a, uhm, a thing for him, but does she really need more than that? And what's wrong with the softest, shiniest ponytail in the world? His motormouth won't stop awkwardly singing her praises like that, and it definitely eases her mind

(- both Kylie and Rosa also point out that a) not a single one of those girls are anywhere near her range when it comes to smarts, strength and humour all of which Jake goes crazy for, and b) he spent probably 50% of those dates either crashing her dates, annoying her with text or annoying his date with stories about her)

- meanwhile Jake notices that 'ugly emotion' every time his brilliant Sergeant-slash-partner has a conversation with some professor at a party, half of which he can't even follow along with, or whenever she works with some brilliant hotshot from the departments above them. He tries to channel it into more positive ways like pledging to himself that he's gonna read up or find a documentary about that particular conversation topic and wooing Amy back by using it as random chat-up lines. On the one hand she loves that, but on the other she definitely knows why he's doing it and doesn't want him to think he has to 'earn' it to be with her. So she steers the chat into an area he's actually really clever in (and if that topic is sometimes Ninja Turtles then so be it) and watches him get excited to talk about it all.

- once they're engaged and then married, Amy turns less jealous and more... posessive in a good way. Like some barista-girl will flirt with Jake as he picks up coffee while she's waiting at their table, and when he brings her coffee back to her he is most definitely getting a slightly PDA-level kiss. When some up-and-coming Academy graduate keeps complimenting him and gushing about what an amazing detective he is, Amy lets him enjoy that glorious feeling of being someone's 'goal' only to pull him into some closet and show him that he's far more than just an amazing detective. And maybe to leave a very marking hickey on his neck for the rest of the day.

- basically she likes to remind him with absolutely no questions that he's hers, and he's obviously 100% on board with that because, uhdoy, of course he's hers, he's been literally since before they even considered dating each other to be an option.

Ok my feelings about the episodes (8-7 and 8-8) in no particular order:

we’re boiling down the reason Holt and Kevin split to Holt being obsessive about work and being way too competitive. Okay, on the one hand I kind of get it because this is a sitcom and we don’t have time and need to be funny. On the other hand I’m like in the first episode Holt’s short monologue is “It’s been a tough year to be a black man and a police captain and a human. I’ve been pushed to the brink emotionally and physically. I went into survival mode, I neglected my personal life.” And, yeah, I am sad that we didn’t get to see THAT. Because that is so much more complicated than what we’ve seen of their conflict.

It was difficult for me to figure out why Holt was so stubborn in 8-7 beyond, you know, sitcom reasons. In episode one he flat out admits that he neglected Kevin. He knows what’s up. He’s petty, he’s competitive as fuck, but his ultimate goal is to get Kevin back, right? It’s also like if their relationship was Holt always wanting to win everything, how the hell did Kev stay with him for so long?

Todd? Not that hot. But also lol at Holt being his judgmental self. Holt weirdly always going for white guys (except for that one 8 year boyfriend he had at some point). I loved Todd talking about Queen’s gambit, the way he delivered that line was great.

But also poor Todd, the true victim of this episode (Pappy Boyle had it coming, drinking that rat milk all day for 93 years). This is a guy who just wanted to go on a date with a hot middle-aged cop. He did not sign up for this.

Man, that moment when Andre delivers that whole thing about real life versus movies and people don’t run to each other in the rain thing. I have rewatched this so many times. It’s so good. It’s just so good.

Kevin takes the leap again. I mean contrast this: Holt sends dick pic - Kevin runs through the rain to say I love you. Hard to tell which one of them is more romantic, right?

Holt is such an over-corrector. It’s like that time he went from saying “Does anyone else feel warm?” to throwing himself down the stairs. You get nothing! No, wait actually, I will compromise on everything and also decide to retire for you next episode!”

Kevin fretting about their vow renewal is adorable.

I’m gonna be honest, I love the porn joke.

To be honest, thought the BONE reference was a little much on the third BOOooOne. You can hate me now. “Cheddar’s not some street rat!” Though his tatse in vases is questionable.

We went from “Cheddar is a dog, he has no concept of happiness.” to he prefers the other vase, he thinks shrimp are bougie... but that just might be Kevin being all my fluffy boy is so special! I think in anyone else Holt wouldn’t tolerate this kind of anthromorphism, but with Kevin he’s like yes, our fluffy boy is so special :D

Andy Samberg when he tries to bring himself to say yes about the porn is hilarious, but why would they all hang out when Jake is watching porn? I still think Kevin should have questioned this more lol. Love his I wish I could say I was surprised though.

MEJ is so handsome in this ep. wtf.

love that the Charles - Peanutbutter grudge is alive and well.

Seductive Holt is so seductive. Andre is hotttt.

I love Amy and Terry’s outfits and their whole interaction this episode. Terry carrying her like furniture is gold.

wonder if Kevin flat out cancelled the renewal ceremony when he found out Holt was on a case and sent everyone home. Though he does say that family is still there at the end, but we don’t see them, so... The whole convo with Rosa and Charles where Kevin must have insisted to come on the rescue mission might be something I might want to throw into a fic... maybe

Kevin is Holt’s knight in shining armor, always. And I am here for it.

WTF is Kevin’s cop voice omg. You just know that the only acting he’s ever done was strutting around in a toga voice projecting like crazy in some Greek tragedy. Cop!Kevin is such chaotic energy

Hmmm, how much should I say about how I feel about the whole Kevin does not want Holt to retire thing? I mean it is a good thing that Kevin does not want Ray to give up this huge part of his life which he is passionate about. But also I’m not a hundred percent behind the way the show is handling the NYPD and police violence. I think personally I would have preferred Holt retiring from the NYPD and going into politics or activism or even becoming a PI like Rosa. I get that he pretty much dedicated his life to the NYPD, but I feel like the show is riding a little on the “a few bad apples” excuse.

I’m going to say that I would have preferred if they had gotten their planned ceremony in suits and with everything to that impromptu thing with Kevin in the cop uniform, though I’m aware of the significance of Holt insisting they do this before finishing the mission. Andre’s smile lights up the entire universe. He has the MOST beautiful smile.

Okay, I wonder if I’m coming off super negative. I’m not though. I really liked the episodes! I’m just very nitpicky (and thinking about stuff I want to work into fic). Aaaaalso, not ready for this show to be over! NBC has been slamming out these episodes like it’s a chore they just want to get through, which makes me sad. But I am still happy that we got all this.

“Wow, looking sharp, boys!”

Within the decorated front garden, already filled with aristocracy and guardians milling about, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako strode up to the three men dressed up in suits—Seiya in red, Taiki in yellow, and Yaten in light blue. Each man tugged at their jacket and re-adjusted their tie to settle into the new tailor-made outfits.

“Yeah, these aren’t bad.” Yaten moved his shoulders. “I never would have thought blue was my color.”

“Psh, of course, it is. I chose the outfits!” Minako raised a hand while tittering in victory. “You’re welcome!”

Makoto pointed her thumb over her shoulder. “Are you all thirsty? The queen went with strawberry mojitos this year for her birthday cocktail!”

“That’s okay, we’ll wait for the waiters to come around—what happened to your thumb?” Taiki lost interest in the liquor once he noticed the brunette’s scratched-up, bruised digit, and furrowed his brow in concern.

Blushing, she covered it up with her other hand while muttering, “Oh uh, just… playing a game of thumb war…”

“And losing,” Ami smirked as she took a sip of her drink. Though her own thumb didn’t come out of the war clean either and was bandaged up.

Rei rested her elbow on Minako’s shoulder. “So, Seiya, how’s your leg doing?” She eyed him up and down, hungry for a snack already as she was three mojitos deep.

“It’s okay. I took a pain pill this morning and it’s just kind of a dull ache right now.”

“So like, if you took another pain pill later, you’d be able to move around a bit more? Like in the hips… area… place?” She gestured her hand over her pelvis

“I mean, sure… if I don’t get too drunk and not feel either of my legs.” He chuckled.

“Oh yeah, no… right… can’t have that!” Rei shook her head vigorously. “Gotta have you feeling at least one leg tonight.”

Seiya’s laughter trailed into nervousness, wondering if Yaten was onto something thinking they wanted to eat them.

“Please direct your attention to Queen Serenity, the first!”

The atmosphere filled with confusion in the form of a dull murmur as everyone turned toward the source of the announcement to watch the queen enter the garden area clad in her standard white dress and platinum crystal crown.

“Is she finished with the parade already?” Ami looked to the other women, receiving only shrugs for an answer. Nevertheless, everyone curtsied or bowed in succession as Serenity passed until she approached the main group.

“Gentlemen, you look great!”

The three men came up from their bows with smiles on their faces. “Thank you, your highness!”

When Rei came up from her curtsy, she caught eyes with Serenity, who stared at her for several moments looking apologetic, but then quickly averted her gaze to Seiya.

“How’s your leg doing?”

“It’s good!” He patted his hip. “I should be able to survive the day.”

“Good! Does that mean you’d be able to ride in the parade with me?”

“The parade?”

“Yes, further in the city! I ride in a motorcade and just kind of wave to people… thank them for coming out and getting drunk on my birthday.” She giggled. “Usually my husband rides with me, but I was hoping you’d be able to since he’s away this week. And also you’re a guest of honor.”

Taiki and Yaten looked at each other feeling like chopped liver.

There was no need to ask him twice. Seiya’s mouth curled into the most genuine and honored smile. “Yes, of course, your highness.”

“Wonderful!” She bounced with excitement. “We have to leave now, though.”

Ever the gentlemen, he pivoted on his good leg and held out his bent arm, enjoying every half-second of the feeling of her hand grasping the crevice of his elbow. They then began their saunter through the crowd and toward the driveway at a waiting car.

Rei had to pick her jaw up off the ground and turned toward Minako to commence in some harsh whispering. “That dirty little liar!”

“She totally has a thing for men with canes.” The blonde shook her head.

She growled before downing the rest of her drink. “I’m splitting Yaten with you then.”

“Uh, excuse you.” Minako locked her hand on her hip and waved around a finger in protest. “Split Taiki—there’s enough of him to go around.”

“I can’t climb that, I have a bad back!”

As the car came to a stop once it reached the parade queue, the top retracted to expose the two passengers to the afternoon sun of the young summer.

From his position sitting across Serenity, Seiya shifted on the leather seat. “So do I have the king’s blessing to be riding with his queen?”

“You do, actually.” She smirked. “In fact, he requested it.”

“Did he?”

“Well… not you… specifically… but he wanted me to have a chaperone.”

“And you choose the most injured out of the three of us?”

Her face glowed red. “Uh, well… I didn’t… see you as that… there are a lot of bodyguards around us anyway…”

It was too entertaining to see her stumble over herself, but Seiya had to keep in mind she was still royalty, and he shouldn’t get too comfortable. Nevertheless, he couldn’t help sending her a wink.

“If I have to put my cane to another use for you, I will.”

Serenity took a few moments to look away, her stomach erupting in a swarm of butterflies. And then the mimosas began to talk.

“I just feel very comfortable and safe around you.”

“It probably helps that my real job is to protect a princess. So this is very familiar territory.” He didn’t want to give himself too much credit.

That’s not what she meant, but it was probably for the best that he didn’t know that. She humored him. “Even after ten years?”

“The guardian purpose never leaves you.”

“That’s very true. I still carry around my transformation brooch.”

“Have you had to transform since Galaxia?”

“No, it’s been relatively peaceful. Just the normal societal problems—bar fights… illegal aliens…” Serenity’s heart sighed in relief to hear him laugh at her joke.

“In all seriousness, I’d be scared of you too if I knew you defeated the greatest enemy of the universe.”

Visibly flattered, she touched her shoulder to her cheek. “I’m surprised anyone even knows that.”

“Everyone in the known universe remembers Galaxia. Her reach was vast. And rightfully, so is yours. We were very excited to come here.”

“Really? Did you expect to meet me?”

“No.” His shoulders shook as he chuckled. “But everyone talks about how nice Earth is. It was actually really hard to sneak in. The security is tight.”

“Oh?”

“Yes. We had to time it perfectly to shoot in during a fireworks festival. Took us weeks to figure it out.”

“Well then, I’ll have to assign you to border security since you know all the tricks.”

He waited for a punchline, only to realize she was serious. A grateful yet regretful grin spread across his face. “That’s kind of you, your highness, but whether we find our princess or not, we must move on.”

Her face dropped while her brow furrowed. “Even after you find her?”

“Yes. Our ultimate end goal is to return to Kinmoku.”

“Right… right, of course.” The sinking of her heart was apparent through her darting, descending eyes. “But are you sure?”

“We want to go home. We’ve been away for so many years and that’s where we belong.”

“You belong here, too…”

While touched, he was more confused by her words than anything. And it must have been written all over his face in flashing letters since Serenity cleared her throat and tried to smile through the seriousness.

“That’s if you want to, of course—I’m hungry. Are you hungry?”

“Um…” He breathed out a laugh. “Since we ate about two hours ago, I’m—”

“Great! Let’s get some food!”

“Do we have time to eat? The parade is about to start.”

“We have plenty of time to scarf down a box!”

“A box?” Pure dread drained the color from his face. “Of what?”

A bodyguard on foot had already approached the vehicle at the queen’s verbal summoning. And then a few seconds later, he was jogging further up the road and disappeared into the distant crowd.

“My favorite vendor is not too far away.” Serenity shook her shoulders in anticipation. “You’re going to love the dumplings there. Their pork and red bean fillings are heavenly.”

“Pork and red bean? Together?”

“Separate!” She giggled at the face he made. “They have savory and dessert ones.”

Her assurance helped Seiya’s slight appetite return and helped him relax. “I’ll only eat them if they look exactly like the ones on your head.”

“Maybe… They get more creative every year. It’s become a tradition for people to eat them on my birthday.”

“That makes sense. They don’t call you ‘Queen Odango’ for nothing.”

Her blue eyes rolled back in her head with a jaded groan. “Even in royalty, I can’t escape the nickname.”

“It’s cute. It suits you.” He tipped his chin toward her head. “What are your odangos filled with?”

“Secrets.” She giggled.

“Are you sure they can all fit up there?”

“The odangos are adjustable. That’s why my hair is so long.”

“Well, if you run out of room, I can always keep one for you.” He winked.

Unable to speak from the suggestive comment, Serenity’s blush extended down to her shoulders. They both sat in silence for a few moments until the queen felt her phone vibrate with a text notification. Her eyes widened in surprise once she looked at it, piquing Seiya’s curiosity.

“Is everything okay?”

“The database has a hit.”
