ISU released an article about Shoma
Tumblr media
Two-time ISU World Champion and three-time Olympic medalist Shoma Uno of Japan has announced his retirement from competitive skating after a long and distinguished career and is ready to open a new chapter in his life.
“I have decided to retire from active competition,” Uno wrote on Instagram. “I am very grateful to have been able to continue skating for 21 years since I was 5 years old, and to have had a wonderful athletic life.”
The Japanese star will talk in more detail about his retirement and future plans in a press conference scheduled for May 14.
The 26-year-old looks back at a career with many highlights and also difficult times, but he always came back, proving his talent and showing resilience. When five-year-old Shoma went to the ice rink in his hometown of Nagoya with his father to have fun, he had no idea that he would become a World Champion, Olympic medalist and super star of the sport. He only knew that the enjoyed skating and kept coming back to the rink, taking lessons. He trained with Machiko Yamada, the coach of Japanese skating icon Midori Ito and also with Mihoko Higuchi for many years and worked his way up in the skating world.
Uno debuted in the ISU Junior Grand Prix in 2011 and was so tiny that he was unable to look over the boards. He won a few medals on the Junior circuit but his breakthrough came in what was his last Junior season in 2014/15 when he qualified for the first time for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final where he claimed gold. Shoma went on to take the ISU World Junior title in 2015, in what was his fourth and final appearance at the event (climbing from 10th in 2012, 7th in 2013 and 5th in 2014).
Tumblr media
Once at the senior level, Uno quickly became one of the top Skaters in the World. In his World debut in 2016 he placed 7th but then the next year won silver, his first of a total of four World medals. In his first Olympic Winter Games in 2018, Shoma skated off with the silver medal and returned on to the Olympic podium four years later, earning the bronze. In 2022 and 2023 Uno crowned himself ISU World Champion.
However, in between there was a time of struggle. In the 2019/20 season, for the first (and only) time in his career, Uno finished off the podium in the ISU Grand Prix Series. He had left his coaches since childhood and struggled with confidence.
“At first, to be honest, I was thinking about finishing my career,“ he said in an interview at Skate America 2021 about this time.
“I did not know how much longer I would keep going. But imaging the end (I thought) maybe I'll enjoy the rest of this career as an athlete.“
Uno started to work with two-time World Champion Stéphane Lambiel as his coach and choreographer in fall 2019 and soon came back strong. He grew as an athlete and a performer with beautiful programs that highlighted his versatility: “Turandot” (Free Skating 2017/18), “Great Spirit” (Short Program 2020/21), “Bolero” (Free Skating 2021/22) and “Spiegel im Spiegel” (Free Skating 2023/24) to name a few.
At the same time, the Japanese star always pushed the limits technically and made history by becoming the first Skater to perform a quadruple flip in competition in 2016.
“When I train and want to become better, it's not good for me to work on what I can already do. If I'm satisfied with just giving 80 per cent, I'm not good. The right training for me is to push my limits,” Uno said in an interview.
The Japanese Skater has an independent mind and a fun personality. He has a Youtube Channel where you can meet his three toy poodles Emma, Baron and Toro.
“When I am on the ice, I am totally focused on my sport, but when I'm off the ice, I am sure most people know I am just a lazy slacker, but I thought that would be a good way to show to the people how I am off the ice, but still this is Shoma Uno,” he explained.
When asked who inspires him the most, Shoma’s surprising answer was:
"Myself. Of course, I think I am inspired by many people and heard some good words from everyone, too, but in the end when you break it down, I do feel that it is myself that inspires me and sadly, I don't listen to anyone. Sometimes I listen, but mostly I go with my own mind,” he added.
For sure Uno will follow his own ideas in the years to come but you can certainly expect to see him gracing the ice in shows for a while.

My thoughts/views/opinions about Clif’s insta post....
Important Disclaimer: The following is just my opinion regarding Clif’s instagram post. I don’t speak in representation of anybody but myself. I don’t speak for my fellow j2 fans, and I don’t speak for my fellow tinhats. This is just my POV regarding this situation.
Warning in advance, I am going to do my best to keep this post cohesive and coherent but my brain is jumping from point to point so if I come off as scatter brained in some parts I apologize.
Before I get into this post, some of you might be wondering why I am dressing this in the first place when Clif’s post didn’t make mention of j2′s sexuality or of tinhats, it is because I am openly a tinhat and I am vocal one at that, and this is not my first rodeo I know even though he didn’t mention tinhats directly and he brought up things that are discussed by both tinhats and non tinhats alike I know, and I’ve already seen it, that we tinhats are gonna get the brunt of it from the het stans.
For those of you that don’t know what this post is about, earlier today (12.2.19) j2′s bodyguard Clif made an instagram post regarding j2 and their families and some theories/speculation that there have been regarding j2 and their families, I’m not going to link to the post, or share the post, or even quote the post - even though I will address contents of it - if you really want to know what the post said you can look it up yourself.
Before I talk about Clif’s post let me address the elephant in the room: Jensen’s comment. Or I should say “Jensen” because I don’t believe it was actually him who left a comment on the post. “Jensen” said that those who theorize about him and Jared’s lives are bullies. Well, he didn’t say exactly that what he actually said was that those who create the “false narratives” that Clif mentioned in his post are bullies.
I call bullshit. On both the statement and on Jensen being who commented.
Speculating/theorizing and pointing out what you see regarding a public figures life in your own accounts where you don’t tag anybody does not make you a bully or a hater. That is an idiotic thing to say, if you go by that then speculating that j2 are totally 100% happy in their hetero marriages makes you a bully and a hater too, or is there an exception to hetero positive things because it sells the narrative that they want 🤔
I personally don’t believe Jensen is the one who posted that comment because to me it doesn’t sound like him, I think it was somebody else on his account.
And I find it very...interesting and fitting that “he” commented on this post when on insta his and D’s bearding has been turned to 1,000x, they have reached Shawn Mendes Camilla Cabello levels of extra, even if I thought he was straight I would still think there were problems in that marriage because of how over the top they are lately; it reminds me a bit of a celeb couple from here in PR, for months they been saying they’re fine, that they’re in love, they’ve been going on trips together for all the world looking like a happy couple and then...about 2weeks ago they announced they were getting divorced.
Back on track, this whole thing is a mess and it’s stupid af, I don’t know what in the hell Clif was thinking when he made that post, I don’t know what he was trying to achieve; I don’t know why he found the need or thought it was a good idea to bring forth things that were being discussed in fandom on the DL and to insert himself into a narrative in which he plays no part, like not to be rude, he can say he’s family all he wants but he’s just a bodyguard and I feel like I should say an occasional one like don’t oversell your importance dude. And even if he was family, the things he brings up in his post are discussions concerning only Jensen, Jared, Genevieve and Danneel.
And I find it frustrating af funny that he’s so up in arms about what fans speculate in their accounts and he says he considers the boys family but he tends to be silent when j2 are being dragged through the mud and receiving actual death threats. I guess protecting the happy family image is more important.
Jared and Jensen are not the only celebrities to have their lives theorized about, they’re not the only ones who have fans that point out jewelry items like wedding bands or potential house moves, this is something every celebrity has gone through, it even happens to youtubers and instagram influencers. So chill tf down.
My best guess as to why this whole mess happened, because this is a mess of a situation, is that there’s something going on behind the scenes and either they don’t want us to focus on it- in which case good job idiots now fans are speculating like crazy- or they do want us to focus on it and they figured adding fuel to the long burning fire was the best way to make us follow the smoke.
When I say long burning fire I mean long burning fire, nothing that Clif brought up in his post is new, they’re all things that have been discussed in fandom by tinhats and non tinhats alike for years.
J2′s living situation, the wedding bands, criticism of the wives, these are all things that have been discussed in this fandom for years and they’re relatively small topics, I imagine that maybe back in the day when j2 first got married these were discussed more often but now a days not a lot of fans, at least that I have seen, talk much about j2′s houses/apartments, or about the wedding bands and when these topics are brought up it’s usually for a day or two tops and I’m being generous like it’s not a massive topic of discussion.
He brings up the lacking wedding ring and the selling of homes, the ring thing was barely discussed most of us were focused on bigger things, and let me tell you that home thing has been talked about so on the DL in this fandom that I have seen people that are active, way more active and in the know than I am in this fandom be confused af as to what he meant - it’s that apparently Jensen and D are gonna sell the house or something - I’ve barely seen people talk about the house thing and the talk I’ve seen has been facts it’s all about the property and if it appears listed and the like and yet he brings it up along with divorce/separation which has even me going 👀 because in the convos I’ve seen about this topic nobody has ever speculated about this meaning a divorce, I’m sure there’s people that have and I just haven’t seen it but still it’s like why bring this barely being talked about thing and do so while mentioning a separation/divorce like 🤦‍♀️ Now everybody knows about it and is going to be talking about because he brought it to attention. what an idiot.
Small thing, I take issue with him saying that for some people their passion is to build dream homes and sell and that we have no clue what hard work that is because I’m sure there are people in this fandom who work in real state or who flip houses for a living and they do those things while also speculating/theorizing about j2.
He talks about how one of the j’s gets criticized for not being home a lot, I will say I have seen these criticism go to both and as I have said in the past I don’t agree with this POV, but it’s a very small niche of fandom that makes comments like that like borderline you have to look for it;  and on the wives being criticized/judged (<- his word not mine) for managing their careers and home life at the same time: yeah no, Daneel and Genevieve are not criticized for managing their careers and home life they’re criticized because they like to act as if they do these things without any help. They have nannies, G has people that help her with her blog, D didn’t start the brewery up by herself and she doesn’t work it by herself and one of her most recent acting gig was on spn a role everyone knows she only got cause she’s married to Jensen. They like to pretend they’re wonder woman and super relatable when in reality they’re privileged, and hey there’s nothing wrong with being privileged enough to be able to afford childcare but there is something wrong with pretending you don’t have that advantage and taking credit for work you don’t do ie. acting like you’re maintaining a home and taking care of the kids all by yourself, and then turning around and acting like your life is a struggle.
Unless there’s something going on behind the scenes I can’t think of a reason as to why he would bring this stuff up, if anything doing so is stupid because now fans that might not have known about any of these things will know about it and while there’s plenty of sheep who will clap their hands and say ‘those people are so horrible :(’ there are those who are going to get curious and look these things up and where do you think their search is going to land them?  They’re gonna land at the anti blogs, and the hat blogs because we’re the ones that tend to discuss these things.
Honestly, if  they actually wanted fans to stop speculating they have failed in an impressive way, they achieved the opposite.
I personally think there is something going on behind the scenes, I don’t know if it’s good or bad but I think something’s going on maybe it’s a divorce or a big project or even something related to spn like a movie but I feel like something is coming our way....
One last thing before I wrap this up, I said this in another post, and I said it on my twitter acc as well but I also wanted to put it here: Clif’s post changes nothing regarding my love and opinion of j2, my status as a tinhat, or the content of my blog. I still love j2 as much as I did before this mess, I’m still a tinhat, and I will continue making tinhat posts both here and on my twitter account.
This is all I have to say about this situation, I think, these are definitely the main points I hope everything I said came across clearly as I said in the beginning of this post my brain is jumping from spot to spot so it probably came across as a little scatter brained and ramble-y.

nortey dowuona’s best of 2020
to be completely honest, I decided to do this entirely for TSJ. otherwise, I wouldn’t have bothered at all. Best end lists are for music nerds and billboard chart nerds and industry vultures, and i happen to be subscribed, in the discord and in the comments of the youtube vids of these folk. so, i decided to pick 10 out of random from the big best of 2020 i was compiling for the whole of the year, which I was gonna post to this Tumblr at the end of the damn year, but I guess I can just post the link to the playlist in the bottom of this post. Here, i’m gonna write about 10 songs I personally love, and pick out a few artists i specifically loved:
artist of the year.
RAP Ferreira put out his best album and best verses in a year everybody either stagnated, fell off or got rendered irrelevant by the world at large. He was ebullient, hilarious, thoughtful and even surprisingly honest. I enjoyed the fact that now he’s begun to create a real platform for many talented folx, and I hope he continues to do that in the margins and make even more beautiful music in the years to come.
rookie of the year.
Enny by a mile. Everybody else who debuted this year got hamstrung by the pandemic but she created 3 great songs, each thoughtful, insightful and a joy. Apparently she just started publicly releasing music to a large audience, and I hope she gets better and better, and even gets bigger than J-
most pleasant surprise.
Vic Mensa’s V Tape. An artist who I though had no more moves left completely turned around his whole career with a fantastic performance at Lollapalooza, a fantastic fleet of features and tis gorgeously produced EP which had some of his most brilliant songs on it. I love it all, Vic Mensah is well and truly back. Welcome back bro. (ALSO, DROP THE DRILL TRACK.)
GREAT THING A GHANAIAN ARTIST DID.
Strongman Burner, Amarae, Okunta Kinte, Vic Mensah in general.
cool things my friends and classmates did.
Justine Darcenne’s #4TheBaeless. Valencia Rae’s Siren thyhomebodies’s Coming of Age. (Phil, a producer in the group, made his own studio!) Brad built his own computer. petit abri put a track on APT9 Record’s compiliation album Volume II. khaalid anderson’s transitions. (khaalid will also be performing at Beats & Brunch on January 23, 2021 at 11 am.) Yannick Paul’s Bear Fruit. The Big Climax’s This Is Ya Boy kxng jetson’s Waves (ft. Kokko Williams & Mike Mezzl) Nicole Gonzalez performed in The Composer’s Melody. Victoria Marie released a bunch of beaufiful covers on her Insta, @toriiii_marie @ph0ssy_jaw works as a counselor online. Pay her at her PayPal. Johnny Aperano Yoba was on People AND Vogue. Dalitso is a wonderful pianist at his church back home in Zambia. Kobina is a fantastic drummer at his church. Kayla graduated with a BS in Music Technology and Industry! Damian been cookin on his insta. Travis graduated! (Look out for Clan of Dragons.) Rorghino Flores made a documentary! Francis (and Animax FYB) put out Mmofra on AmaLexPrime! (play it with yo kids.) A Hype has been dropping crazy all year, roll by his SoundCloud and check out Persistence Of Memory. Reina H been doing great covers on her Insta, @challenges_inlife. Hannah placed music on C. B. S.
best albums of the year (that nobody’s written about).
Maya Huyana -1991 DaWeirdo - Broke and Ugly $ilkMoney - Attack of the Future Shocked, Flesh Covered, Meatbags of the 85 VI Seconds - Because Why Not/Never Knows Best Erik Cain - Heart & Soul Vol. 2 Dimitri & the Scarecrow - Messenger is Sender (from 2015, finally got released onto streaming this year, still pretty great and another great Zimbabwean rapper for us to all fawn over, just like billy woods) Flowking Stone - Gifted 1 The Hoodies - Incommunicado Jayy Grams - Every Gram Counts Domo Genesis/Mike and Keys - Just in Case1/2 Madwiz - God’s Gold Teeth Maez301 - Hasaan Daara J Family - Yaamatele Dai Burger - Dessert EP TeePhlow - Road To Phlowducation II Tef Poe/Blvck Spade - Preacher in the Trap Terrell Hines - Portal One: The Mixtape redveil - niagara Nyukyung - Trap Harmonix AdrianXpression - Sucka Deante Hitchcock - Better (Deluxe) maassai & jWords - ve.loc.i.ty tobe nwigwe - cincoriginals everything Kelsey Lu did this year.
strangest things happening in music in general.
vic mensah actually making a great record. goldlink going through a narcissistic collapse and winding up making the best music of his career. redveil blowing up off Fantano calling him wack. pharoahe monch finally making a rock pivot and it actually works. meet me@the garden coming 10 years too late for my 14 year old self. RAP Ferreira being in the NYTimes, selling a vinyl record for $72, creating an actual nostrum grocers in a video game so we can listen to his next record. The entirety of the playboi carti phenomenom. The entirety of the lil uzi vert phenomenom. The entirety of Chance’s instagram EP being far more money worthy then the entirety of the Big Day and yet being released on Insta and not immediately monetized. Deante Hitchcock releasing a great album and being completely forgotten armand hammer releasing their underground kings wayyy too early. my ass continually not actually looking into amapiano despite always loving it when I review it. several good songs needing to be tacked on to a prior youtube vid as an ad for me to find them instead of actually listening to the artists. santan dave still releasing good verses after he made his illmatic. (expect his new album to suck.) slowthai becoming cake. (we let that go way too far.) Guapdad and BfB Packman being wonderful. Finding out BfB PAckman is a better rapper than Sada Baby. John Boyega putting on Ego Ella May. Having to admit Young Dolph was good all this time and i missed out like a fool.
best tv performance.
Chance The Rapper’s “A Chi-Town Christmas.” IDK’s “Change The Channel.” Sa-Roc’s Tiny Desk Concert. Chika in general. Robert Glapser’s “This Changes Everything (ft. Denzel Curry).” SZA at the Roots Picnic. Sampa The Great at the Roots Picnic. RAP Ferreira in general. Umi’s “Introspection Live Show.” Alexa Esperanza’s cover of “Is It A Crime.” Bad Bunny in general. the jwords, nappy nina and MIKE performances at Satellite Syndicate
most embarrassing piece of music i love with all my heart
Logic’s No Pressure. In all sense of the words I should not love this album like I love my siblings but I do. It is beautiful.
best 10 songs of this year objectively
1 - RAP Ferriera - An Idea Is A Work Of Art (ft. Mike Ladd) [prod. by Kenny Segal, mr. carmack and Mike Parvizi]
I know, I know. In all honesty Doldrums should be here. Then Noz put it on his best list and I had to be all ChiTown Go-Getter and pick the next better thing: this. And in all honesty, it has the best lyric RAP spits on the album: “we build better answers.” But it’s not just that, it’s RAP’s most animated performance, the most dexterous piece on the whole album and the most gorgeous beat, a loping bassline sliding behind the flatfooted drum, allowing Mike Ladd, his musical father, to gently drift through, saying, “what if royalty depised us?” and knowing the only gold is soul and giving it to all of us, all us maggots and vultures and locusts and weevils, to hold to the light so we can finally see. On the quest to get open and free, we continue.
2 - Chika - U Should [prod. by Lido]
I heard this the night it dropped and shot 2 insta videos playacting as it played. But apart from that, it’s a intimate, beautiful song about getting to know a new lady love, so tenderly sung it might melt and disappear if not held gently, with a sweeping guitar lick and purring trumpets sliding all over the place, Chika softly holding each frayed piece together into a considered, gorgeous piece - wait, she’s talking her shit.
3 - Issa Gold - Boys Don’t Cry [prod. by Kingjet & Sherwyn and Matt Zara]
The only reason this isn’t number one is because it dropped on Christmas Eve. But otherwise, it’s a openheart letter to us all. “it’s a lonely path being different,” Issa says, swimming in the melted ice caps as he once danced happily on the edges of melting glaciers that failed to drown him, looking at the world that keeps hurting his heart, yet he still opens his eyes and smiles, and dances. The heavy drums are so bouncy the whole song suddenly flies, formerly a hidden murmur becoming a bright sunlit flight across the sky so we can all see. I can’t wait to see Tempus, if it’s anything as good as this was.
4 - Deante Hitchcock - Growing Up/Mother God [prod. by Brandon Phillips-Taylor]
In all honesty, “Growing Up” is really not the best song on Better. It’s a sweet, happy song with a smooth, crackling bassline with soft, ghostly synths, but still kinda ok. It’s the song added at the end, “Mother God”, that has warm, sizzling piano chords and gorgeous singing in the back. It’s one of the few time I’ve ever heard a man pay homage to the woman in his life and to the God above while being entirely sincere and not faking the funk. The way he praises his mom, his lady, remembering the women in his family taking care of him and him foolishly neglecting Breonna due to his overburdened mind feels full of details, remembrances, explanations and praises. Plus, it actually makes sense that God, if she exists (she does) is a woman since -
5 - Yana Perrault - whiskey and weed [prod. by slate]
Apparently, Yana Perrault is verified now. Excellent. {YES YES MY GOD YESS}, It means more folks know about how great this song, and Yana herself is. If I had any sense, I would’ve written up 12:21 as the best song of 2018, but such is life. Anyway, we have this smooth, bass heavy slinker with shimmering percussion and lumbering drums about hooking up with a former flame who’s “sober” yet keeps on calling Yana to break their sobriety, “know we ain’t talked in a while but you still know my address,” she wryly mentions. As the beat sprints away under a warm cocoon of accapella echoes, it mirrors a relationship so tenuous it might disappear into the wind. Yet still strong enough to have whiskey on call.
6 - Marlon Craft - Culture Sick Freestyle [prod. by Cormill]
Apparently this was supposed to be a shot at Flex. And since Flex is a woman beater and a lame, good for him. Shouldn’t have even gone on Flex to be honest, but then again neither should Jay Critch or Tyler or Black Thought and besides, I watch those freestyles too. And on the freestyle, Marlon frankly put things in perspective. “You don’t want us to better, you just want to be cool still.” This describes all of rap media to be real. And tellingly, it only has 310,000 views. Methinks nobody really wants real. But I do. Thank u Marlon, you continue to be the best white rapper alive. (Nowhere near the best rapper tho, and if Token hadn’t fell off -)
7 - Miah - Cascades [prod. by Cedes]
I’m sideeyeing the boy Miah cuz I had to search up his Audiomack to find the producer’s name (it’s Cedes, and they have a really great avalanche of Drake Type Beats is you like that kind of thing). Were you trying to trick folk into thinking you produced it yourself? You don’t need to do that shit. Especially since you’re writing stuff like “back in high school all my peers were tryin to hit the league / until the league too far from reach so they tap dancing over beats.” When you can frankly break down life that clearly, don’t be trying to hide producer’s names unless you actually learn to produce too. Plaster your name all over that shit.
8 - Justine Darcenne - Off Days [prod. by Mikhail Miller] / Enny - Peng Black Girls (ft. Amia Brave [prod. by Paya]
Justine is indeed my classmate, but that’s not why this song is here. it’s here because it’s a nice little guitar driven song with a spellbinding bridge that’s the best thing I’ve heard her do yet. And I’mma keep it short cuz I already wrote this up at the Singles Jukebox.
Enny released this soft, cushiony record with washed out synths over bulky drums and floated FLOATED over them without even trying to run in the tar, saying frankly, “He said to me, 'they put guns in the streets, that’s what they wanted for me.’ And I said, ‘G, someone can fix you a plate but no one can force you to eat.’” After all, why not try to live for something greater than what the world has expected you to be. And Amia sings, “We’re gon be alright, ok?” with the joy and excitement of someone realizing the words coming alive on their tongue. One of the best songs of this miserable year, and it’s kinda funny watching Jorja accidentally Drake out Amia and even Enny (and by funny I mean irritating.)
9 - Tobi Lou - okay (ft. Dreezy) [prod. by Matteo Woods & Dilip]
Fun fact: Dilip did some great songs with Otxhello, a producer who recorded and mixed 2 records on my first album. That again is not why this song is here. The warm, swinging synths and heavy, bouncy drums are why this is here. Oh, and Tobi’s goofy, silly lyrics and his surprisingly effective Missy Elliott tribute are great too. But obviously, the verse that vaulted this into top 10 was Dreezy, which opens with such a openhearted line, “i can’t help it, it’s too hard to say I’m sorry.” And every line is harder than the last, until she closes with “and I ain’t talkin frontals but we got the city sown up.” Absolutely amazing.
10 - Strongman Burner - Pilolo (ft. KelvynBoy) [prod. by Nixie]
The sweet, gooey synths are poured over the soft, zipping and smooth drums as the wiry bass whirls between Kelvyn’s soft, thin crooning as Stoneman tap dances over the drums, both desperate and defiant, trying to salvage a sinking relationship that he knows is already gathering coral and snappers. It’s the best afropop song of the year and yet it still has a Nigerian on it (well, I put 4 Nigerians on here, next year I’m rectifying that.) And they even did a song together last year , not as good as this. At all. (still pretty good tho.)
best 10 songs i love (but not enough to write full paragraphs for, I already put 10 in and this is already 5 goddamn pages)
11 - Logic - Heard ‘Em Say
best song on the project that isn’t Dadbod but at least it isn’t tempting fate.
12 - Deqn Sue - Creep
I already love this for having a gorgeous bridge, and is cute af. Yes Sue, you can creep.
13 - Quelle Chris & Chris Keys - Sudden Death/ka - i love {moms, mimi, kev}
QUELLE CHIS CAN SANG SANG./ka can heart heart write.
14 - IDK - Square Up (ft. Juicy J)
I don’t know why this is here either but this slaps regardless.
15 - Nappy Nina - Modestly (ft. Maassai)
Maassai is creating some of the best raps out here. so is Nappy Nina.
16 - Kehlani - Lexii’s Outro (ft. Lexii Ajaii)
Let’s celebrate our great rappers when they’re alive (and this includes me. Pls Chika, don’t win Best New Artist.)
17 - Samad Savage - Goodnight
What Travis Scott should’ve tried to be instead of what he is now. Samad still dope af regardless.
18 - Bad Bunny - Si Veo Tu Mama
The way Bad Bunny actually hits that last note makes me feel so excited and alive.
19 - Fat Tony - Back In The Saddle
I fucked up. But I’m getting back in the saddle, back in the saddle next year. NO NIGERIANS ALL NIGERIENS. #ENDSARS tho.
20 - Lady A - the truth is loud
Why am I the only one who has this on a best list? I have 34 bot followers. Vibe, step it up.
best of 2020 music right here folxs.
worst music things of the year:
The Pop Smoke album. Just in all areas. (Better win that Grammy tho.) Travis Scott in general. (So loud and empty and boring.) Big Sean’s Detroit 2. (why does this exist? Just put out Deep Reverence and Detroit Night Cypher and leave everything on the cutting room floor fo the next album.) Remembering all the great rappers who are dead or incarcerated. No Kendrick album (just leaks. Not good enough.) J. Cole and Noname beefing and Noname getting strung up by twitter. Jay Rock pushing being anti-vaccinations. The realization that Normani might never drop a single record ever again. Tory Lanez in general. Joyner Lucas making actually good songs and falling off almost immediately. Cardi B in general. Anything positive being said about steven Universe songs. Luzamity shipping (until it’s canon please stop! Willuz is RIGHT THERE!)

And again, I encourage you guys to watch the movies and shorts I mention in this as they are all wonderful and amazing (heads up though: some of them are silent!) and all can be found on YouTube. I also suggest you listen to the song I mention at the end while reading it.. it’ll make the mood even sweeter!
Tumblr media
Night number two of your four night vintage film fest came fast. And you were sure that this one was going to be really good as well. You couldn’t wait till you and Steve got back to the theater. When it was time to go, Steve practically rushed you out the door.
“Steve!” you yelled as you almost tripped over your own shoe.
“What?” he said as he locked the door. “I wanna make sure that we get good seats again.”
You stood next to the car and placed your hands on your hips, giving him “the face”. He stopped, looked down and gave a sheepish grin then ever so slightly looked up at you with those puppy dog eyes. You cracked almost instantly.
“Damn you and those eyes,” you huffed, as he unlocked the car grinning widely, knowing he won you over once again.
When you got there and Steve parked the car, he helped you out and he offered you his arm once again. He never ceased to amaze you. As excited as he was about this and wanted to make sure he got good seats again for the two of you, he still acted like a gentleman. And after getting snacks and drinks, the two of you walked into a half filled theater but still found some decent seats.
After you put your cup in the cupholder, you looked around and nudged Steve saying, “I guess other people thought of your plan too.” And gave him a small smile and winked. He rolled his eyes and you playfully hit his arm.
There was still some time to wait before the movies and shorts started so you played some games on your phone. You then took a selfie of you and Steve and posted it to your Insta, captioning it with “Spending our six month anniversary the bet way possible: doing a vintage film fest!” and added several hearts to the end.
When it was finally time for everything to start you nestled a bit more into your seat, linked your arm around Steve’s and intertwined your fingers with his. Placing your head on his shoulder, you felt him kiss the top of it and you just couldn’t help but smile.
Your smile got even wider when you saw what the first short was that appeared on the screen; Buster Keaton’s Cops. This was one of your absolute favorites for a reason. His stunt skills in this were out of this word.
Laughter already broke out within the first minute when it looked like Buster was behind bars but was in fact behind a gate. You never saw so many kids laugh so hard in their lives, let alone to something as simple as that.
And even more laughter happened when Buster tried to help out a man and his wallet but then turned to gasps when the kids noticed that another man Buster tried helping only wanted the money that he had by making it look like he was thrown out of his apartment with all his “furniture” which happened to be someone else’s that was moving out.
But laugh rang out once more when Buster had bought a horse and loaded the furniture on the wagon with the help of the people that were moving. It became quiet again as he wandered his way to nowhere with the horse and the wagon full of furniture but then got caught in a parade full of police.
Gasps broke out once more when someone threw a bomb into the parade but landed next to Buster and he lit a cigarette with the fuse and threw it off to the side, making it explode in front of a group of cops. It quickly turned to laughter when Buster started getting chased by the hundreds of cops and getting into crazy situations with them. Along with having one his most famous stunts happen: him grabbing the end of a vehicle as it drives past him, literally pulling him of the ground.
Tumblr media
It gave you goosebumps every time you watched it, knowing that Buster did that stunt all on his own. You swore that he was in a league all his own when it came to stunts and even though Harold Lloyd did his all his own stunts too, he couldn’t hold a candle to Buster. Nobody could.
When the first break in between shorts happened, you and Steve sat in your seats patiently waiting for the next one to start. The couple behind you recognized Steve and asked if they could get a pic with him which was fine with both of you. They then started a conversation with you, asking how long you and Steve had been together and what movies and shorts were your favorites out of what was played so far. The four of you talked until the lights went dark again in the theater and the next one started.
You got so excited when you saw which one was playing next: Laurel and Hardy’s You’re Darn Tootin’, your absolute favorite silent short from the duo. Laughter erupted as soon as the title card popped up: “The story of two musicians who played neither by note nor ear - - They used brute strength - -” and it kept going when the band leader tapped his stick to make everyone sit down, except Stan and Ollie which made him tap it again, and this time the boys sat down while everyone else stood up.
Hilarity ensued as Stan and Ollie kept messing up their parts and Stan’s clarinet kept having pieces fall off. More laughter rang out as the two of them made a complete mess of the whole band and were fired. The theater was quiet once more when the boys went back to the boarding house they were staying at and the landlady threw them out after finding out they had no job any more.
The laughing picked back up when the boys went through a series of trying to be street musicians but were still screwing everything up and nobody liked hearing them anyway, which then turned into Stan and Ollie having an argument and ruining each other’s instrument.
Tumblr media
You swore that the laughter could’ve been heard from the street as the next part happened which was Laurel and Hardy getting into a fight and started to tear each other’s clothes apart, which then somehow spread to passersby's in general, until the street was filled with men pulling each other's pants off.
When the short ended and the lights went on, you saw so many people wiping the tears from their eyes because of laughing so hard. It was such a great sight to see, especially seeing that so many kids were enjoying themselves with watching all these old yet wonderful films and shorts.
You and Steve took turns going to the restroom and refilling your drinks and had just enough time left before the next one started. And it was all smiles for you and Steve again when you two saw what the next one was.
Another one of Laurel and Hardy but this was the first film they did together called Pardon Us and the laughter started almost immediately when Stan talked and made a raspberry. Laughs continued seeing as the boys got arrested for selling their own home made beer to a police officer.
Laughter came and went with watching the boys go to “school” in jail, get locked up in solitary over night, escape from jail only to get caught and get into more trouble due to Stan’s loose tooth that buzzed every time he talked.
Tumblr media
But the best part was when Stan had to go get to the dentist to get it pulled. It was one of your favorite scenes mostly due to Stan being so overly nervous about the whole thing.
Soon the movie was over and a little longer break took place. You and Steve turned around and conversed again with the couple behind you. It was so nice getting to talk to a couple that looked around to be in their early thirties and to learn that they both grew up watching these old movies from their grandparents and met during a film festival.
“It’s amazing where you can find love, isn’t it?” you asked.
The girl shook her head and kissed her husband on the cheek. When she pulled away, the speakers made the announcement that the theater was going to be playing the next film in three minutes. And soon it started.
Yet another one of your favorite Buster movies came on, Seven Chances. You loved the fact that this one had three whole minutes, THREE WHOLE MINUTES of color at the beginning of it. You told Steve it was because at the time, that was when colored film was started to be tested out. And you couldn’t contain your sighs when you saw Buster in color. Steve gave you a side-eyed glance and you noticed, which made you giggle.
“I still love you,” you whispered and kissed his cheek.
“As long as I know the competition I’m up against,” he said sarcastically with a sly grin. You gave him “the face” once again and he couldn’t help but smile and wrap you in his arms.
The audience watched quietly as Buster was told by a lawyer that he was to inherit seven million dollars providing he is married by seven o’clock on his twenty-seventh birthday, which was that day.
You started hearing sniffles from parts of the theater as Buster went to ask the only girl he ever loved to marry her. But after a bad explanation as to why they were to be married that day, terrible heart break happened and you started hearing louder sobs. You yourself started to get teary eyed and brought out a couple tissues from your purse to dab away the tears.
Hilarity soon started to ensue though as he started to go ask seven women that he knew were available to marry him, each with hilarious results of the answer being a no. Roars of laughter continued as Buster’s friend said he would help him find a bride, while Buster then started to ask every single girl he met to marry him, each and every single encounter having it’s hilarious results.
Laughter pretty much continued throughout the rest of the movie, especially when every woman possible started to pour into the church after they read in the paper that Buster was to inherit all that money. The laughter came even harder during the chase scene when all of them started chasing him but not before he found out that the girl he loved, the first one he asked to marry, really did want to marry him, all the while trying to make sure he married her before seven o’clock, looking at every clock possible.
As the chase scene went on, you loved seeing Buster run. You swore that man could outrun anything. And the stunts he did during the chase! It amazed you that even though you had seen this film numerous times, it still managed to give you goosebumps from seeing him grab onto the spare tire of a moving car, running and jumping across a small canyon to jumping and rolling into rocks which start an avalanche and eventually make the mob of women run away.
Quietness finally came when Buster made it back to the house but was told he was too late. Sniffles from around the theater started up again as the girl still wanted to marry him money or not but he refused to let her share his impending disgrace. More sniffles and a few louder sobs happened when the most beautiful somber face overcame Buster.
Tumblr media
When the movie ended, cheers and applause broke out. You heard several people around you say what a beautiful and funny film it was and that the chase scene was the best part.
Another break happened before the last movie of the night and it seemed to go by very quick. Before you knew it, the lights of the theater dimmed once more and you were thrilled that it was ending with a Harold Lloyd talkie film. You loved hearing him talk. He had such a cute voice.
Laughter erupted when Harold practiced his acting in the kitchen and when he left the car running because of his excitement from getting his letter from Hollywood, which caused it to roll backwards and crash into another car.
Laughs were plentiful throughout the film, with seeing Harold cause trouble with his first “acting” job, meeting the production chief and losing his shoe down the drain pipe during a storm.
Tumblr media
You smiled at the gasps and tiny bit of chatter that were heard through the theater when Harold went to go give flowers to a girl he likes and she rejected them, throwing to the floor and kicking them only to fall and Harold catch her in his arms and kiss her. And you smiled even bigger when you heard sighs come from all over when he kissed her again.
You looked over at Steve who rolled his eyes over the drama and placed your fingers on his chin, slowly turning his face towards you. He looked at you with those blue eyes dancing in darkness. You then gently placed your lips on his and he wrapped you tightly in his arms as he deepened the kiss. Pulling away, he smiled at you and you nestled your head on his chest as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder.
When the movie was over and everyone filed out of the theater, you and Steve slowly made your way to the car. With no clouds and a full moon hanging in the night sky, it made the most beautiful light dance around the two of you. You started to hum “There’s A Moon Out Tonight” which turned into you singing it which then turned into a full on dance with Steve in the parking lot.
It almost felt like as if you were just swept up in one of these old movies. It felt like pure movie magic.

People around the globe have turned to DIY hairstyling while in lockdown
New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/people-around-the-globe-have-turned-to-diy-hairstyling-while-in-lockdown/
People around the globe have turned to DIY hairstyling while in lockdown
The long and short of the lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19, is all over social media. If a video of Georgina Rodriguez giving partner Cristiano Ronaldo a stylish haircut while self-isolating in Madeira went viral on social media, in India, actor Anushka Sharma giving her spouse, Virat Kohli, a haircut with a pair of kitchen scissors also inspired a legion of stay-at-home stylists.
With hairstylists, barbers and beauticians closing shop to adhere to the lockdown, men and women are finding inventive ways to stay reasonably well groomed. Malayalam actor Indrajith decided the easiest way was to tonsure his head. He recently posted a photo of his new look on his Facebook page and Instagram handle and called it ‘Quarantino’. While more than 27k fans welcomed his new look on Facebook, 1,44,384 reacted to it on Instagram, including stars like Vijay Yesudas and film director Aashiq Abu. “With no shooting for some time, I thought this was the easiest way to deal with the situation and beat the heat,” he says. His stylists were his daughters 15-year-old Prarthana and 10-year-old Nakshatra.
Actor and YouTuber Archana Kavi also decided to give her father Jose Kavi a haircut and posted it on her Instagram handle. “I looked up YouTube videos to learn how to do it. Then I practised on my cocker spaniel and finally garnered the courage to give my father a haircut. I guess they did not have a choice. Well, I did not nick their ears,” laughs Archana, who is in Delhi with her parents. She was visiting them when the lockdown was announced.
Celebrity hairstylist, Ambika Pillai, says a lot of her clients are also experimenting with cutting their own hair during the lockdown. “These days, everyone is turning to YouTube to pick up new skills. And there are a number of experts and professionals on YouTube who are showing you how to style your hair. I myself have demonstrated some simple ways to give yourself a haircut and take care of your hair,” she says.
Tips and tricks
For instance, she says that if you are using a trimmer, it’s best not to start at the lowest level but to “go slow and easy. If one is not careful, it is easy to take off the hair in patches. So begin at a higher level till you get the hang of it. I am posting tutorials on my Facebook page and Insta handles about simple ways to take care of your skin and hair. Looking at the situation, I am not sure when salons and parlours will open. So it is best to learn how to give yourself an easy haircut. A good pair of scissors and a comb will do. If you have a buzzer or trimmer, make sure you learn how to use it,” she explains.
In Chennai, 12-year-old Yohana Rajaratnam gathered tips from tutorials on YouTube and turned hairstylist for her grandmother Hansa Pandit   | Photo Credit: special arrangement
Mimi Chiu, a hair stylist in Chennai, says that those who feel the need for a haircut should best go for front bangs, even or uneven. “Or even a soft-layered style is easy if you plan to cut your hair yourself. Just tie your hair in a pony and turn it over and trim the ends. When you put back your hair, you will have a soft-layered look. If you have a friend or someone to help, then you can go for a simple, straight trim. Men can use a trimmer at the highest level. Whether it is men or women, if you are cutting your hair yourself for the first time, it is easier if you decide not to shorten your hair too much. That is when mistakes show up. Moreover, even if there is a problem, your hair stylist will find it easier to correct it if you have not attempted something complicated,” she says.
And that is what Mumbai-based teenager Aarya Menon did by styling her bangs herself. “The heat and boredom got to me and I wanted to do something to change my hairstyle. So I went in for bangs. I viewed a couple of videos before chopping off my hair,” she says, sounding pleased with her decision.
In Chennai, 12-year-old Yohana Rajaratnam gathered tips from tutorials on YouTube and turned hairstylist for her grandmother Hansa Pandit. “The two-hour haircut was filled with many arguments till my mother started seeing the results,” laughs Yohana’s mother Durva Rajaratnam.
Not to be left behind are parents of young children. While teenagers might decide to play Samson for a while, kids don’t stand a chance once their parents decide it is time for a haircut. That is why 10-year-old Siddarth agreed to be styled by his mother, Archana Gopinathan. “I used his dad’s trimmer to give him a really snazzy cut,” says Archana. And Sid approves. “I love the way she has done my hair ,” says Sid.
Chennai-based Anisha Menezes says her husband, Vivek, was always the hairstylist for her two sons when they were in the US. “He used to cut his hair since college. This week, he is planning to give them a trim.
In the meantime, senior citizens recall a time in the distant past when barbers would come home to give the men their monthly haircuts. Mohan Sivanand, former editor of Reader’s Digest, posts on his Facebook page that he was “dying for a haircut. That’s when I remembered something I learnt when I was five. We had a barber in our Kerala village come home to do the job for all the men in the house, right down from my grandpa, my uncle, dad… to us the boys. He worked in the backyard. And ha, since I wouldn’t sit still or keep quiet, the big barber managed to lock my head between his knees at times. One day, while my hair was being cut, I mustered the courage to ask him, “Who cuts your hair?”
‘I cut my hair myself,’ he replied. ‘I use two mirrors for that.’”
So Mohan decided to emulate the barber. Using the wall and cabinet mirrors in the bathroom, he took a comb and a pair of scissors and trimmed his own hair. “It feels like a load off my head… It was a piece of cake too. No waiting my turn, no reading Filmfare while I waited, no paying, no tipping,” he states, adding “I may never go to a barber again…”

Lauren Chan @lcchan
This NYC-based Canadian is a woman of many talents. She’s gone from playing varsity basketball at Western University to plus-sized model to fashion editor at Glamour to founder of her own lifestyle brand, Henning. As a fashion editor, she used her voice to spread awareness about the serious lack of size-inclusivity in the industry and won the 2018 American Society of Magazine Editors Next Award, and has appeared on Good Morning America and the Today Show.  On her Insta you’ll see that her beauty game is strong; while she’s clearly mastered the bold red lip, it’s her make-up free selfies that will have you begging for her skincare routine.

Hope everyone had a merry Christmas!🎄 Today on the blog I'm sharing 10 must-read books for creative entrepreneurs! I actually listen to all of my books rather than reading them using the @audible_ca app, which has been a total game changer for me! (and also happens to be my #1 productivity hack) SO excited to share these books with you! let me know in the comments if you've read any of them😊 Post linked in my bio. #yougottahearthis #sponsored ⠀ https://choosingchia.com/10-must-read-books-for-creative-entrepreneurs/

Jess Hoffman @choosingchia
This Montreal yogi is making us rethink the pizza we were planning to order tonight. From the fluffiest blueberry pancakes to rich mocha donuts to the most decadent dragonfruit cheesecake, Hoffman’s Insta has us drooling. And the best part it, it’s all plant-based. The kitchen whiz turns chia pudding into a dream dessert, whips lemon meringue into fluffy egg-free clouds. We’d be jealous if we weren’t so darn grateful for her recipes.
