Okay... you got me. They're cute.
(Screencaps from the trailer for the upcoming series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, featuring the apparent protagonist, Dolph Laserhawk and his canonical boyfriend, Alex Taylor, whom Ubisoft describes as "the love of his life").
Also Tokyopop is doing the comic adaptation and dang the cover art by Bayou Kun "for the "boys love manga adaptation" - iOS
(Though as a disclaimer, I wouldn't recommend buying this, it's pretty bad)

3, 5, 6, 13, 23 from the video game asks! :)
Thanks for the ask!
video game questions
3. 1-3 games you’ve played in the past 12 months that you really enjoyed
the first Pillars of Eternity game (as evident by how much I've been posting about it) is still great and I 100% recommend it, it is darker fantasy than Dragon Age and there are a couple of Yikes Moments close to the beginning, but you WILL love at least one of your party members and the writing is pretty great. also a lot of its soundtrack was used in season 2 of Critical Role, and there is significant vibe/theme overlap, so if you enjoyed that season you'll probably like something about POE1 (also there are a lot of voices from the cr cast in the game itself. Matt Mercer notoriously voices two(2) of your best friends party members)
Dragon Age: Origins! The OG. The reason I'm even on this website. I had a pretty major reset when I realized that I accidentally locked myself out of Zevran's romance and now I have to do the Sacred Ashes quest again, but once I get through it things will get fun again. I've had a lot of fun writing Kyana meta based on this playthrough earlier this year, and I'm sure I'll have more things to say when I GET OUT OF THAT TEMPLE
I started playing The Sims 4 between writing sessions during NaNo. I made an off-brand Evelyn and another household based on two very old OCs, and I was really invested in them for a while (to the point of considering making fanart of the second household). I stopped playing at some point, but I think that, like Stardew Valley, this is going to be a fun thing to come back to every once in a while.
(the first answer was already very long so I'm putting the rest under the cut)
5. Game(s) coming out that you’re looking forward to
I played the demo for GLITCHED: The RPG a couple of years ago and it's been on my Steam wishlist even since. I don't actually know what's going on with the game (I think it was announced that it would come out in 2023 and then it didn't?), but I really hope that it will come out eventually because the demo is A Lot of my favorite things packed into one game. Like, honestly, even if the game won't be out for a while, I think that the demo itself is a really fun experience.
also, despite everything surrounding Dreadwolf, I'm definitely looking forward to it! though somewhat concerned about actually running the game because I Do Not Think my laptop will be able to handle it.
6. A series you’ve enjoyed since your early days of gaming and still enjoy to this day whether it still has games coming out or is one you return to
.........I mean, this is very much a Dragon Age blog. DA:O was one of my first RPGs (Skyrim was the other) and Here We Are all those years later
13. Quick, name the first song from a game that comes to mind
I haven't actually played it yet, but Challenging A Queen from Stray Gods. I'm definitely going to play it, though, because this is another game that looks like it was made personally For Me. and this song absolutely rules (my favorite version is the first one they played in this video)
23. A “Wow” moment of awe
...technically I didn't play this one either, but I watched a full playthrough of Wandersong on youtube, and the final song sequence I can't really talk about without spoiling everything was. very. Emotional(TM)
also for a more somber kind of awe, I really like the ambience in Emprise du Lion in DA:I and the White March DLC's entire deal in Pillars of Eternity. in both cases the environment made me just kind of pause for a second and take it all in (actually, adding to the song thing, the Abydon's Shell soundtrack from The White March is haunting)

FNAF Ruin Theory: The Entity Is Glamrock Bonnie & Can't Trust Gregory...
[Note: Small Spoilers, if you haven’t played the Ruin DLC or watched the play-through of it or walkthroughs, go check them out first before reading this. also Please Don’t Reblog This Without My Permission.]
it might be a while before I can play the DLC of FNAF Ruin, don't know when it will come out for the Xbox One but hopefully it wont be too long.
I can just enjoy watching the playthroughs and walkthroughs of it for now, but at least it still came out on July.
even if it might seem like The Entity was the Bad Guy, but it might be possible they weren't really as bad as they seem...
it might be possible that they were trying to protect Cassie, knowing she would not just be in danger from The Mimic, but also from Gregory...or at least one of the versions of him.
it could be possible that both the Freeing Vanessa Ending and The Afton Ending are both the true endings, but they happen with two different Freddies & Gregories...
The Good-Gregory is still trapped, and the Bad-Gregory is the one who was part of the Vanessa Ending.
we could explain why there are two of Vanessa in one of the endings, by viewing it as a sign that the one that was Vanny, is really Gregory's Mom and could also turn out to be Tape-Girl.
I don’t think Gregory can be fully trusted, or at least the one that isn’t trapped under the pizzaplex.
it could be possible that Vanessa could of switched Freddy’s head on to a prototype body, and that was why he wasn’t fully himself...
it could also turn out the Roxy that had that touching scene with Cassie, was in fact not the same one that had saved her from the Mimic, and gave her the chance to run for her life.
how would Roxy be turned back on, if the one that Cassie turned off, wasn’t a different version of Roxy and could turn out to be a Prototype.
both versions of Roxy, could have a strong bond with Cassie, and want to protect her.
even if it might seem like that Rabbit Entity is Glitchtrap or Afton, but we might of only been tricked to believe that.
I don’t think that Entity is them at all, and I still believe they are in fact Glamrock Bonnie, he was possibly trying to protect her and she was in no real danger.
that is, until she ended up freeing the Mimic and trusting Gregory when trying to leave by using the elevator....trusting Gregory was a bad move.
at least one of the versions of Gregory, but the Other Gregory, who is possibly the good version, might still actually be trapped in the pizzaplex.
Gregory could still be trapped under the pizzaplex, and Gregory could of figured out that the Freddy that been with him since placing his head back on his body, was not the same one he had befriended.
the one he had befriended, is with the Bad-Gregory, and the Bad-Gregory is the one that Cassie shouldn’t trust....
but why would the Mimic ask Cassie for help, unless there is more to it then just picking her....maybe Gregory had other friends besides Cassie, and she wasn’t the first one that was called to the pizzaplex to help “save” Gregory.
the pictures of the missing people on the news paper in one of the endings, could hint that there were others before Cassie, who had tried to help Gregory or it could just be that the Mimic has been causing people to go missing way before Gregory and Cassie were involved in the pizzaplex.
it could be possible that the Bad-Gregory was based off of the real Gregory, and was the one who played a part in causing some people to go missing.
it could be possible that Bad-Gregory was sending Monty and Chica, or at least the ruined versions of them, after Cassie, but maybe not.
and if you think about it, technically we were right about Roxy and Sunny/Moony/Eclipsey are kind of Cassie’s guardians...well Moony is still a bit grumpy but maybe with Eclipsey, he is a bit better now and less grumpy...
so Cassie gets a Wolf-Mama and Three Dads who are technically the same but with three split-personalities...maybe split-personalities could have to do with a soul broken into two or three parts of itself...
the Rabbit Entity could be Glamrock Bonnie’s Soul, well digital-soul...
it was a surprise that Gregory would purposely leave Cassie to die like that, all because he didn’t want to be followed, which is why it be nice if there was more than one Gregory.
I guess we were suspecting Gregory to be secretly evil, and I guess if the player doesn’t zoom out when looking through the cameras and find out about those doors that need to be open, so you don’t have to return to the elevator when trying to escape from the Mimic...
when I do get the chance to download that DLC, I’m going to make sure to find those cameras and have those doors be open, cause I’m not having Gregory betray me or Cassie in my first time playing that DLC...
which might be a while, and I can just enjoy just watching the playthroughs for now until I can finally get the chance to play it.
even if it might seem that the Rabbit Entity, is the enemy, but they might of been trying to stop Cassie, to keep her from the danger that was under the pizzaplex.
it might of turned out that it was a Prototype of Monty that had caused Glamrock Bonnie to no longer be part of the band, but what no one had suspect would happen, is that Glamrock Bonnie’s digital-soul would take the form of that entity that has been scaring Cassie...
we might not know much about that Rabbit Entity, and my theory about them being Bonnie could be wrong, but I’m going to view it as headcanon until then.
Vanny and Vanessa could turn out not to be the same, and Vanny might be Gregory’s Mom and it turning out that she is that Tape Girl.
and if Gregory’s Mom was free from the Mimic, that doesn’t mean Gregory was, and it could turn out that the Gregory with Gregory’s Mom, is another Mimic.
maybe Cassie will return in another FNAF game in the future.
there might be more to Gregory than we think, and it could turn out he is either a Afton or a Emily. well him being a Emily would mean he would take after Henry in solving a problem the wrong way...
and it could of been The Mimic that Henry Emily was talking to.
anyway, it might be possible that Gregory can’t be trusted, well at least the bad version of him can’t be trusted, and there could turn out there is two of him.
the Bad-Gregory is outside of the pizzaplex, and the Good-Gregory is trapped under the pizzaplex and has been trying to hide from the Mimic.
anyway maybe I can talk about this theory another time.
but I hope some like the theory about Glamrock Bonnie and the Entity being one and the same, but it’s also okay that not everyone agrees with it.

Get To Know Me Tag!
I was tagged by @hereforthehaunts, thank you very much! I’m doing this at work and have no idea who I’d tag in return, but if you see this and think it looks fun, consider yourself tagged.
Last Song: Purest Gold, by Miracle of Sound (and guest singer The Charismatic Voice) – a song inspired by Malenia, the legendarily cool and hard superboss from Elden Ring. MoS never fails to put out absolute bangers, so go give him a listen!
Currently Watching: Netflix Avatar, which is better than I expected, worse than I hoped, although in fairness I’m only three episodes in. We’ll see how it goes. Other than that, I’m approaching the halfway mark on Campaign 2 of Critical Role, being a very late comer to the show. I’m resigned to never managing to catch up to the live broadcasts, but hopefully I can at least finish Mighty Nein and the…Exandria? spin-offs by the end of the year.
Three Ships: I never really think of myself as being a shipper, to be honest…but I can still answer this lol. Supercorp, which is to say, Supergirl (Kara Danvers)/Lena Luthor, from the Supergirl CW show that finished…last year? is basically my main ship, even though I’ve not finished watching the show yet. I sometimes question whether I actually like the ship or whether it’s more the creative fire that it kinda sorta lit in me (I’ve not actually written much of anything for them, but oh boy do I have ideas), but that probably doesn’t really matter. Fem!Shep/Thane Krios, which is to say, Shepard and Thane from Mass Effect 2 onwards. Possibly somewhat unusually for a Mass Effect fan on Tumblr, I don’t actually have any real preference in ships for the series, but the playthrough where I did this romance was the one that tipped me over from “Mass Effect is a very good series of games that I enjoy a lot” to “Mass Effect is a core part of my personality, and I’m going to start a blog dedicated to the series (which has slowly but surely become a more general blog, as anyone who follows me can attest, but the point still stands)” Tav/Shadowheart, from Baldurs Gate 3. I’m fully intending to do all the romances, but both my playthroughs so far have wound up with her…
Favourite Colour: dark blue, I guess?
Currently Consuming: On any given day, there’s a decent chance I’m watching something by Outside Xbox/Outside Xtra, two hugely entertaining gaming Youtube channels, or their TTRPG spin-off channel Oxventure. I’m also trying to catch up on the Worlds Beyond Number TTRPG actual play podcast, from some of the minds behind Dimension 20 (which I haven’t actually watched beyond clips). I’m trying to finish Dark Souls 3 after an intended short break turned into about two years – just the second DLC and final boss to beat now, so fingers crossed! And I’m reading Nona the 9th, by Tamsyn Muir – too early in the book to comment on that, but I loved the first two books.
First Ship: probably Batman/Catwoman, I guess? Although I had a soft spot for Jacen Solo and Tenel-Ka from the old Star Wars expanded universe.
Place of Birth: UK
Current Location: Work
Relationship status: long term single
Last Movie: American Fiction (loved it)
Currently Working on: I am always mentally rotating my various fiction ideas, but the main thing I’m actually working on is the D&D campaign I’m running  - module based for the most part (Lost Mines of Phandelver, always a classic, with the intention of continuing into Princes of the Apocalypse), but one of the players came up with a backstory that’s going to require a homebrew plot if there’s ever going to be any resolution to it.

Hogwart’s Legacy models-extra student files.(SPOILERS!)
So I got a hold of a copy of Hogwarts Legacy and using F-Model (now deleted because my system kept picking it up as Ransomware and shut off access to my files)
Anyway trying to get an actual completed model using it was a fucking disaster (They all seem to have been built using a modified version of the character creator and are broken down into heads-arms etc all scattered) BUT I did get the names of the student models heads-some of which are rather interesting.
Tumblr media
So I’ve barely started the game and as such I can’t confirm every name on the first list. However a few things stand out.
Hector Weasley was seen in the previews for the game-he became Hector Jenkins. whether or not the model is different I know longer have the capability of knowing. (BTW if someone wants to advise me on a different way of accessing the model files please let me know)
Aesorpe Sharp YOUNG Is the next eyebrow raiser on the list-from watching playthroughs I have yet to see Sharpe looking anything but his older self. again I can’t access the model now but If someone else wants to give this a try go right on ahead.
Eric WEASLEY Is another annoyance-possible brother we have yet to see?
Ominis Gaunt mentions in idle dialogue he has THREE sisters currently at Hogwarts -we see NONE. EDIT: DISCUSSION OVER THE BACKGROUND DIALOG HAS HINTED THAT NEARLY ALL THESE CONVERSATIONS ARE RECYCLED AND A GREAT DEAL OF THE CHARCTERS DO NOT USE THIER ORIGINAL VOICE ACTORS WHEN SPEAKING. THIS PUTS INTO QUESTION THE ‘CANNONITY’ OF THESE LINES.
It’s a possibility that Garreth had a brother or two but they got cut (Hectors name change is a strong indication) and Ominis could be in the same boat however the idle dialogue is something they forgot to remove.
there's also several names that I can’t find on the wiki-the weird way that some of the students are labelled as a student and others are not (Leander, Everett) is another annoyance as they could simply be town based NPCS and until I stumble across them in game I wont know. However the HP Wiki has no information on:
Aasim pyre
Arthur siggs
Christopher Burton
Eric Lowe
Ernie Lark EDIT: Travelling musician.
Isko Abril EDIT :town person
Otto Dibble and Owen Wynn EDIT : ditto is a town person EDIT 2: Owen exists the wiki-just doesn’t mention him for some reason…
And HERE’S the next part of the mystery:
Tumblr media
Amelia Larson-possible brother to Andrew Larson who’s practically a background character despite being a named student.
Diasy Abril EDIT: town person
Indira Wolf: EDIT shopkeep
Priscella Wakefiled (mentioned but house unknown) EDIT: ingame model confirmed. WIKI MODS WAT U DOIN!?
Grace Waldergrave: EDIT Grace Pinch Smedley original name? (bath Smedley who?)
Hilda Loddington (The wiki and game mentions a Hilda-this may be her) EDIT: Model exists in game.
So-I’ve now had a cup of tea after writing this list and every horrible damning explanation of what happened to these students has whizzed through my mind-I have a few theory's.
A. These are the names of characters who will appear in DLC.
B. These characters exist but are simply not named yet.
c. whhoollee lotta cut content.
Along with Quidditch and the companion system answer C seems unfortunately the most likely.
I could say a lot my how disappointed I am if C. truly is the answer but what can you do?
If you know of any errors or other information you've heard in dialogue PLEASE let me know.
Big edit: So it seems like It was merely the wiki people being slow-practically ALL these models exist in game-excuse me I’m going to go and see if I can get the wiki people to keep a better record.

I'm not sure if other people have thought of this headcanon already, because if they have I haven't heard about it lol So you know how King Dice has green eyes only in his boss battle? (And in a certain cutscene). There's also Mac, (The apple guy, who gives you 3 coins at the start of the base game, and from the Macintosh trailer) who has yellow eyes seemingly only when he becomes startled. I've had this headcanon that whenever a character in the Cuphead universe becomes over-emotional in some way, (Happiness, anger/rage usually) they gain colored eyes for that moment in place of their pac-man eyes. After watching a playthrough of the DLC that came out today though, I definitely think this is kinda the case because when the spider from the Moonshine Mob fight was falling off their web, their eyes also became yellow (due to fear, probably). Same with Chef Saltbaker, when he becomes kind of crazed/enraged, his eyes also become yellow. (Yellow seems to be a common eye color haha)

The Game Awards, but just the announcements I care about:
Pony Island 2: Panda Circus - I have very vague memories of watching a playthrough of the first game, and the sequel looks absolutely bonkers in the best of ways. Also SUNGWON!
Usual June - Not much to say except it looks cool and I hope it turns out good.
Windblown - Never played Dead Cells despite everyone saying it's great, but man they really did just brutally murder those little animal dudes. Awesome.
God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla - Free update!? Based. Also that was absolutely a cyclops, I'm curious if they tie back in some Greek mythology stuff.
Big Walk - I have no idea what this game is but it better win Game of the Year 2025.
No Rest for the Wicked - Not quite sure what the game itself it, except that it's gorgeous.
5 New Sega Games - JET SET RADIOOOOO- ahm, I mean, this might just be the highlight of the entire show for me, despite how little was shown. Sega has so many cool old games that haven't seen the light of day in so long (though Streets of Rage had a game somewhat recently I think?). Anyway I'm going to break this up into individual sections despite each one having about 5 seconds of footage, lol
Jet Set Radio - Obviously this game was in production well before the release of Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, but I guarantee people are going to be way more hype for this thanks to Team Reptile. Seeing DJ Professor K in this new style sent me to a higher plane. Can't wait for more on this one.
Streets of Rage - I'm not really a beat 'em up enjoyer, but it's interesting that this game is going 3D.
Shinobi - This game looks very pretty. High hopes for this one. Hope it takes notes from all the big indie platformers of the last decade.
Golden Axe - This one looks veeeery interesting. I'm only vaguely familiar with OG Golden Axe, but the art style and the game being 3D have certainly caught my eye.
Crazy Taxi - HEY HEY HEY IT'S TIME TO MAKE SOME CRRRAZY MONEY ARE YOU READY? HERE WE GO! Very curious how they adapt this one into a modern title. YAH YAH YAH YAH YAH
OD - I'm not interested in playing this (I mean we don't even know what the game is besides horror... with really detailed faces), but it's a Kojima game so I'll nonetheless watch it from a distance. Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele is a wild combo.
Black Myth: Wukong - Holy shit it has a release date. This game has looked insane since it's reveal, hope it lives up to the years of hype.
Tales of Kenzera: Zau - Everyone's fixating on the Critical Role logo lol. This one's got style and I hope it does well, but I'm not really a metroidvania guy so I'll probably pass.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - Cid real!
Blade - There are very few potential Marvel projects I'd be interested in this point... luckily Blade is still cool XD
Not a game, but after that Old Gods of Asgard performance... do I need to check out Alan Wake 2??? XD
Guilty Gear Strive updates - The original gun-wielding menace has returned. Dig the new outfit. I know at least one person who will be thrilled at Elphelt's return. Curious as to how this 3v3 mode will play.
Was not expecting Elden Ring DLC news - they literally said that it was still a ways off, so idk why so many people were expecting a trailer. Happy for Monster Hunter fans, even if I'll never get the appeal of those games. So many shooters with forgettable titles and/or minimal gameplay shown. And apparently Fortnite is a games platform now? Weird.
Congrats to Baldur's Gate 3 for winning the things. See yall next year when Foamstars sweeps the Game Awards.

I just finished the Ruin DLC, or at least one of the endings(?). While I want to do all endings, I can't say I know how to get them. (That is if there are multiple endings, I've heard there are, but at the same time idk. But I'm definitely in the clear to watch playthroughs of it now.)
My thoughts and spoilers beneath the cut
This was fun and scary at the same time. A fun scary, to be sure, but at the same time I don't think I got that scared. I died a few times, sure, but half(or more) of them was because I fell off a ledge to my death lol. Eclipse was fun, but it felt too short a section. But hey, he's cool, no longer attempting to kill you in the dark. At the same time, he didn't really feel like a threat, in my opinion. The Moon section in the base game definitely seems scarier than what happened in Ruin. But that's not to say it was bad, I enjoyed it a lot. The atmosphere was really spooky, and overall a good time.
Next thing, finding out that Roxy is Cassie's favorite animatronic was cool. Sure, you can argue that it was obvious, but Cassie picks up the Roxy Talkie(the name of the thing she uses to communicate with Gregory) inside the Pizzaplex, so it wasn't with her prior. Also there's one scene where Roxy actually remembers Cassie, mentioning the last time she had a birthday there, and that was so sweet. Kinda heartbreaking cause I had to deactivate her. And that one scene that was shown in the trailer when Roxy grabs you, she lets go and says sorry after Cassie yells 'Let go!', possibly when she recognized Cassie's voice?
Poor Monty, didn't really do much beyond showing up a couple times, one time pretty much submerged in water, that was cool. Guy doesn't even talk anymore, just growls and stuff.
Chica, though. She's had better days, man. Missing half her head(or at least the exosuit(?) covering her endo head) and partly melted.she barely seems to move, but in the sections where she's active, she has killed me a couple of times.
They definitely threw me off a bit with Freddy, missing his head and his chest cavity now has teeth(it definitely looks like that). So that possibly means that it's going off the Saving Vanny Ending in the base game, where you beat all three Princess Quest games and Gregory repairs Freddy's head and Vanessa is no longer Vanny(unless you headcanon Vanessa and Vanny as separate people). He's barely there though, only a short chase scene then he's gone. Kinda feels like they just went 'Oh, you know how he was always there in the base game? Well now he's there for like, 5 minutes and disappears forever.'
The mini Music Men were a bit creepy, and have a different jumpscare, they pretty much swarm you. Granted, there wasn't a whole lot of them, but definitely more than I would think there would be. No DJMM though, bummer. Big guy is one of the cooler ones.
The whole AR stuff they did in the game was really cool, too. And trying to avoid Glitchtrap was interesting in itself, which kept me from just having the Vanni mask on the whole time. It also let me turn off the Wet Floor Bots for some reason, maybe that's tied to something? Or it's just a weird thing that they added, who knows.
That ending though, what a ride, but also kinda confusing in a way. So in finding "Gregory", we actually find a robot mimicking Gregory's voice, revealing that Cassie was tricked into freeing it. Now, I have heard some predicting that this was a possibility, so not too much of a surprise, but it was still interesting. We then hear from "the real Gregory"(probably, the reveal that it wasn't Gregory that was telling us to come save him already happened, so it might be him) that he was trying to reach Cassie from the beginning to tell her not to go down there or something. But as she escapes, Gregory(or maybe the fake Gregory) shuts down the elevator and she dies. Oh, but before that, Roxie comes back and saves Cassie from the robot pretending to be Gregory(though how she found her way down there when she's blind is a mystery to me).
Overall I had a good time. Also from the few actual collectibles I found, it seems like Gregory doodled some of the endings from the main game. One comic doodle was of the fire ending, and one was the Burntrap ending. There was another one but I forgot what it was. There were likely others as well, but I didn't find those.
Oh, also Candy Cadet was there, and some gifts that had Faz Tokens that you gave to Candy Cadet to let it tell you a story. Which was basically a metaphor for you being lured down there to let the monster out.
The DLC felt like it was a bit short, but then again, it's free and honestly that's fine with me. As for any glitches, there weren't really any, except for maybe the one mini Music Man in the one vent that somehow killed me when I had escaped the vent, but whatever. There was quite the long load each time I had to respawn after dying. And a bit of a load to new areas, but honestly not that bad. None of it negatively impacted my experience with this DLC. Definitely going to play it again, it was definitely fun. Good job, Steel Wool Studios, you did good with this one. Especially since it's not a buggy mess Security Breach was when it came out(still kinda a buggy mess, but not as bad. And I still enjoyed playing it when it came out and recently).
Now to watch others play it and see what they think about it.
Also now debating on whether or not to have some of these points explored in my fnaf au with the animatronic ocs. I guess it depends on 1. If I can make it blend together with what I already had planned, and 2. If I like the result of seeing if they can be somewhat combined.

Sonic Frontiers Post-DLC-Three Whinefest Redux (Final Horizon Review)
Tumblr media
After feeling left out in the cold with my divergent opinion on vanilla Frontiers, it feels good to finally share an opinion with the rest of the fanbase again. Spoilers below, but the skinny is that it's just like normal Frontiers except a lot more difficult.
I forgot to mention one thing that put me off Frontiers in my pre-DLC review: I just couldn’t handle the controls very well. I think this is just a skill issue, because I did eventually get used to them. It took my ten attempts to beat the first boss, but only one attempt to beat the last one.
So, when I fell right off the first platform of the first trial tower for the seventieth time, after spending time maxing out all of Sonic’s capabilities no less, I assumed that the problem was with me, and the game just did not cater to my ability or taste. But when I checked out Twitter – everyone else was talking about how hard it was! They were going so far as to compare it to Dark Souls. It made me feel so relieved. And a little bit of schadenfreude.
At this point I was about to turn it off and just watch a playthrough of it on YouTube to see how it ended. I’ve only rage-quitted a game like that once before with Drawn to Life: Two Realms, which is a whole other story.
But friends, thank God for easy mode. I switched the difficulty and it was smooth sailing. I don’t think there’s any shame in playing easy mode – you bought the game, play it how you want – but I had it on normal mode from when I first got Frontiers up until this stupid tower. It makes me wonder if I’d have been nicer about Frontiers as a whole if I played easy mode from the beginning.
But yes, going through the rest of the game on easy mode was a lot more manageable, except for that one part where you have to defeat those shell enemies in a certain amount of time with nothing but the cyloop. If there's a way of doing it, I don't know what it is, and I only got past it when the game took pity on me and offered to lower the trial's difficulty to something easier than easy.
But other than that, no major complaints. All my problems with the empty open world and weird plot still stand, but gameplay-wise everything was just fine. Then this prick shows up:
Tumblr media
- and makes you fight all three non-final bosses from the base game in a row with only 400 rings to spare between them, bearing in mind your rings are constantly draining while you're fighting them, can't be restored, and if you run out it's an instant loss. Also, parries don't work unless they're bang-on perfect.
And I really struggled with the first boss in the base game! And yes, most of that was my fault, because I didn't bother to parry his attacks, and parrying is like the main mechanic that all the bosses are centered around. But I was also cocky: I thought that if Sonic ran out of rings by timeout, his super form would go away and he'd fall back to the ground along with the emeralds, and you'd have to run around the arena to pick them up again quickly before Giganto had time to heal or something. So when I ran out of rings and Giganto straight-up ate Sonic I was surprised. And I admit I got quite frustrated having to start over from the beginning every time until I slowly figured out what the boss wanted me to do.
So I beat Giganto again in this rematch, and I thought at first that was the end of it and I'd just have to fight the one boss, which was a natural step up from the other koco's challenges. But then Wyvern showed up, and it suddenly dawned on me that not only would I have to fight all of them, and my rings didn't refill between fights so I had only like seventy left, but also that if I lost, the game wouldn't start me over from the boss I was on, it would kick me back to Giganto and make me do it all again.
Obviously, there was no way I was beating Wyvern with only seventy rings, and I don't think I was quick enough to even parry it once. So I made a deal with the game and said “If I die here and the next thing I see when I respawn is Giganto, I’m turning the game off.” You can’t say I didn’t warn it.
Tumblr media
So, yes, I actually did end up rage-quitting Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon, and I just watched how it all ends online. I didn't stick around to see if the game would make itself easier if you failed the bosses enough times. Maybe I would've been able to pass it if I kept trying, but since I wasn't wild on the whole game to begin with I didn't feel like it.
Turns out if you somehow finish the boss rush, the endgame comes straight after. And I wasn’t really missing much, by the look of it – first half of the final boss is the same as in the original game. It’s Giganto, except he’s got a gun. The second half is a bit different – it’s Giganto, except he’s got a big brain-drainer/puppet-string coming out of his head and several arms coming out his back. The big purple rock is hovering in the sky, but rather than QTE-ing it, Eggman fires Super Sonic clean through it after Giganto is beaten the second (third? Fourth? However freaking much) time. It’s got a lot of visual flair, but I really wish you could play as the other characters as well, so that the final fight feels more fully absorbed.
Tumblr media
The ending sequence is the same too, except Sage doesn't sacrifice herself this time, and she and Eggman get their happy ending instead of a post-credits sequel hook. But while it might make Sage fans sleep a little easier, I think SEGA might have written themselves into a corner with her. The whole thrust of her character was a mopey AI that just wanted to be loved, and now she has it... what are SEGA going to do with her if they bring her back?
If she comes back evil, and joins Eggman in raining merry hell on Sonic and his friends, won't that contradict the canon of Frontiers, where Sonic taught her hope and heroism? And if she comes back good and on Sonic's side, won't that also contradict Frontiers and her loyalty to her father?
Would she go join all the other Sonic antiheroes on Team Dark? But even they have their motivations - Shadow started off a villain but realized he was being a jerk and tries to uphold world order. And while Rouge is a master criminal, she's not mean-spirited - she might rob you or cheat you out of money, but she'd never want to hurt you. What's Sage's motivation? She doesn't really get to develop a personality of her own by the end of Frontiers.
Imagine after the final boss, Sage comes up to Sonic and says she’s been thinking about her place in the world. Sonic asks her what she wants out of life, only for Sage to suddenly flash him the most deliciously evil grin an AI can muster and tell him what she wants most is to use his skin as a fur coat. Eggman comes up behind on his egg-mobile, gleeful that his daughter has finally come round, and the post-final boss is a blow-off match between Sage and Sonic, plus the other playable characters joining in on the fun. And behind the keyboard, I stand up and applaud. Maybe that would clash with Frontier's tone, but then at least Sage would come into her own and indicate her appearance in future games.
So, yeah - The Final Horizon - really didn't dig it. If the original Frontiers didn't interest you, this won't change your mind. However, there is one good thing I want to bring up that I hope Sega explores in the future: the other playable characters.
I really enjoyed playing as Tails, Amy and Knuckles. Each of them has Sonic's basic moveset, but also their own powers and abilities on top of that. Knuckles has the most familiar of movement, with his gliding, wall-climbing and seven different ways of punching people. His gliding controls take some getting used to, since it's more like wingsuit-gliding with wind resistance blowing you about the place than the simple jump-and-go Spyro-style gliding from the Adventure games.
Amy's moveset is centered around a deck of tarot cards she was mentioned to have been using in, like... one very early manual for Sonic CD. But still, I think the idea of her using magic cards has a lot of potential. Maybe different cards do different things in battle? Kill the enemy by changing their very future? Maybe it could be something like Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, where the cards are all shuffled up and you have to pick which card to play at which time. There's a whole unique aspect of gameplay available to her there. Sadly, Final Horizon sticks to standard things like throwing them at people or slapping them, and doesn't take advantage of their clairvoyant or paranormal themes. Ah, well, maybe next game.
Tumblr media
But Tails deserves special mention, because he has the most varied abilities that make use of his wacky inventions. He can launch a laser cannon at his enemies, or failing that hurl an endless supply of wrenches at them. But you know what my favourite was? His airplane. One of Tails’ abilities he can access at any time is to just hop on his plane and go off into the blue yonder. The speed and simplicity with which he could do this at the press of a button is intoxicating. I was furiously humming Ride of the Valkyries as I cruised around Uranus Island wishing it was a livelier open world. If these are the abilities we can expect from Sonic's friends, the next game could be very exciting if the level design matches up with it.
If vanilla Frontiers showed me that Sonic can work in an open world, Final Horizon showed me that his friends can too. And it's something I really hope SEGA picks up on in the future, because they really do have the bones of a great Sonic game in here, it just needs more time to cook (and a saner difficulty level).

hey mare. if i wanted to start watching aa playthroughs. who should i watch and where do i start ?
!!!
okay! so: when it comes to "where do i start", since that's the easier question:
you're going to want to start with the first trilogy. that covers the phoenix wright ace attorney games (first one, justice for all, trials & tribulations) and should feel like a complete arc. for character context i would say it's important you do those first; they also hold up the strongest.
after that i say gauge based off of your interest, and i'm down to talk about that more once we cross that bridge if we do cross that bridge! i'll let you know now though that 90% of my ramblings come from apollo justice ace attorney, which is the fourth (depending on how you count it) installment. thats where you get klavier
in terms of who to watch, this kind of depends on if you want to see Every aspect of the game, or just the broader strokes. what I personally did was watch RTGame's playthroughs-- his videos definitely cut out some of the gameplay, but it keeps enough for you to catch funny bits and also he leaves in everything you would need to contextualize the case. those videos are also funny and just approachable imo.
there ARE a few cases that i would actually recommend just watching a no commentary playthrough of - one would be Bridge to the Turnabout, which is the last case in Trials and Tribulations (3rd game), though RT's playthrough of that case (espec the VOD which has like All the details of it) is good too. honestly really up to you.
a lot of gamers have done the first phoenix wright game-- i know game grumps did it, though they never did the DLC case for some reason? past that it's a little harder to find people who have done the full trilogy, which is why i reocmmend RT.

Dragon Age II: Mark of the Assassin
Crosspost. Originally posted on Dreamwidth on 08/27/20.
Mark of the Assassin is the final story DLC for Dragon Age II, released in October 2011. It's set at a new location called Chateau Haine in the Free Marches and stars a new temporary companion named Tallis, voiced by Felicia Day.
I didn't talk about this DLC in my DAII write-up because I didn't play it with Alessandra; Mark of the Assassin is reported to have a pretty severe bug on console which has the potential to corrupt saves both before and after beginning the DLC, and I was too invested in that playthrough to want to take the risk at the time. I have some very vague memories of the DLC from years ago, but I remember so little that I'm not even certain whether I finished it or not.
However, I just finished another playthrough of DAII on PC, and this time was able to play Mark of the Assassin without fear! And since the Inquisition entry is still a ways out from being done, I thought this would be a good time to talk about it.
Tumblr media
A while back you may remember I watched the live-action miniseries Redemption which precedes Mark of the Assassin and gives us a bit of backstory for Tallis, and I wrote about that here! In summary, my overall impression of the miniseries was that it has a certain charm if you look at it as a fan project but it really doesn't work as canon tonally or visually. I liked Tallis's character concept at a high level but in execution she just came across a little too self-inserty, with a bad case of Quippiness.
Mark of the Assassin definitely inherits some of the problems with Redemption. Tallis's introduction includes a whole cutscene of her singlehandedly fighting off a group of Antivan Crows before the gameplay actually kicks in and lets Hawke join the fight, to make sure we know how cool she is. (It also strongly implies that she "saved" Hawke from the Crows, which is pretty funny when you're playing this in Act III and Hawke is regularly taking down large groups of bandits and blood mages.) Tallis's in-game design is taken directly from the miniseries, and does not at all fit the aesthetic of Dragon Age II, which is even more glaringly apparent in the game itself. Pictured below is some early concept art of Tallis that I found on the wiki, and why oh why didn't they go with something like this? Without the Qunari emblems, obviously, since she's undercover, but this look fits the aesthetic of DAII perfectly.
Tumblr media
Tallis's face is modeled after Felicia Day's actual face. I get it, they wanted her to look like the miniseries and Felicia Day is cute. This was the era where Bioware really loved sticking celebrity face scans into their games—think Mass Effect's Miranda Lawson and Diana Allers and default male Shepard, dubbed "Sheploo" by fans because he was based on Mark Vanderloo. While I think in hindsight they actually look pretty good considering the graphics that were available at the time, they sometimes ended up looking just a little... off, and they definitely stood out from the faces created in the game's engine. I remember some of them getting regularly dunked on at the time, especially poor Diana Allers, and our girl Tallis.
I'm not an animator and my knowledge of such things is very limited, but I think one of the reason the face scans often seem to translate weirdly is that real human faces, no matter how young and cute, have more odd and irregular lines and dips and contours than the smooth, symmetrical faces created in a game engine, and video game lighting plays off those irregularities in unpredictable ways. I don't really have any problem with Tallis's face in and of itself, but I did notice scenes where the bright lighting of the outdoor environment seemed to cast a lot of odd shadows on her face. I also think it's kind of weird that they went to such lengths to make elves look less human in DAII, with the longer pointier ears and the prominent nose bridges and blue-tinted skin tones, and then tried their damnedest to make this one elf look like a real live human, complete with a warmer skin tone in contrast to the cool undertones of every other elf NPC.
When the lighting hits her right, though, she looks fine.
Tumblr media
But enough on aesthetics! Let's talk about the story and gameplay.
I did not take any of the flirt options with Tallis, because my Hawke already had a quirky elf girlfriend who also happened to be standing right there. (This is Sabine, my Merrillmancing Blue Mage Hawke, who I haven't talked about yet but perhaps will another time.) But uh, there sure are a lot of flirt options. Romance with Tallis can't go past a kiss before she vanishes at the end, but you sure can flirt with her if you want to.
The story is effectively a heist, and... it's really fun. Honestly, I came into this DLC fully prepared to dunk on it, but despite some quibbles, I enjoyed the hell out of it. The wyvern hunt was a fun little jaunt with some amusing sidequests, including saving a dog and finding out that Tallis is very much a dog person which is certainly no strike against her.
I went into this DLC knowing Tallis was a mandatory party member for the duration and had planned for that, so that didn't bother me, and in fact I enjoyed the part where it's just Hawke and Tallis skulking around trying to find a way into the Chateau. Tallis's repeated failures were definitely a little silly, but they also bring her down to earth a bit and give Hawke things to do.
I especially enjoyed sneaking around Chateau Haine. In a game that frequently forces you to kill NPCs you might never have wanted to fight in the first place, the option to utilize stealth is god damn refreshing. I didn't even mind how many times I had to re-do some of the sneaking sequences to get them right! It was just fun to utilize a different game mechanic than straightforward battle.
The vault portion of the DLC involved a lot of puzzle-solving, which made me groan initially because I often find Bioware's puzzle minigames tedious, but they turned out not to be too difficult or exasperating. You can get some loot in the process of breaking out of the dungeon, but alas, like much of the armor with cool-sounding names in the base game, the Robes of Enchanter Illana do not have a unique appearance and just look like Chantry robes. (There's a reason I tend to put my characters in armor from the DLC item packs.)
This DLC gives us some of our first close-up looks at the culture of the Orlesian nobility, and it's pretty neat. Orlesian culture was something I found really interesting in Inquisition (particularly in "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts") and Mark of the Assassin turns out to be a nice little precursor to that. There are things here that carry through into The Masked Empire and Inquisition, notably the portrait of Lady Mantillon you can find in the estate that unlocks the Codex entry "Portrait of the Dowager." (Though this Codex entry seems to imply that Lady Mantillon is still alive, we learn in The Masked Empire that she was killed by Briala around the time Empress Celene took the throne. The Dowager we meet at the Winter Palace in Inquisition is a different Lady Mantillon.)
I did have to laugh at Duke Prosper de Montfort, who is presented as kind of a ridiculous buffoon as well as an antagonist so you don't feel guilty about robbing him and then pushing him off a cliff to his death. Prosper is certainly not very good at the Game if he thinks a list of names is useless!
By the end of the DLC, hell, I even kind of like Tallis. She's still got a case of Quirky Elf but she's toned down just enough that when her Troubled Viddathari side comes out, well, it works for me. The conversations in the jail cell and after give Hawke the opportunity to ask her a lot of questions about the Qun and her devotion to it and it's really interesting and exactly what I wanted from this character. The only think I could really ask for is an additional dialogue option asking her about the treatment of mages under the Qun, certainly something that could come up with a mage Hawke.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it. It drew out everything I had liked about Tallis in concept in Redemption and put it front and center.
Story-wise, there are some weaknesses. If your Hawke isn't the roguish, thieving kind, it can be kind of a challenge to come up with a solid role-play reason why they would gallivant off to this Chateau to steal a jewel on the word of a total stranger. That you have no choice but to let her walk away at the end, that you can't fight her or force her to hand over the list of Qunari agents operating in the south, is frustrating, especially if you're playing this in Act III after the Qunari invasion of Kirkwall. For many Hawkes it will feel not only out of character but downright irresponsible to let her walk away. I get that they didn't want to let the player kill Felicia Day's OC; unfortunately it's precisely that level of railroading that I think probably led to a lot of people disliking Tallis as a character.
And that's a shame, because Tallis is interesting. But I don't think pushing your audience to feel a way about a character, and basing gameplay decision around the assumption that everyone will feel this way, ever goes well. In my view, the best way to get fans on board with a character is just to write an interesting character—and also to accept that some of your audience inevitably won't like the character and that's okay. If they really didn't want to let her die, just give Hawke the option to take the list from her, either through special dialogue or a fight in which Tallis can be defeated but can't die. And rather than have her just stroll away while Hawke stands there watching, have her, I don't know, kickflip into a puff of smoke and vanish. She's a rogue, we'll buy it.
So that's Mark of the Assassin! Flawed to be sure, but a fun romp that I wouldn't want to have missed.
Mods I used:
Serendipity Tweak from sapphim's Dialogue Mini Mods, which corrects the bad line link in Tallis's dialogue with Serendipity (explanation here).
SG Finery Shop by LapisLazzuli, if your Hawke wouldn't be caught dead in the canon party outfit. It is to this creator that I owe Sabine's gorgeous look here, a bit modern with the pants but then so's Tallis's outfit.

internet arguement mode partially kicked in so responded to one of the many shitty comments on RE3R gaming wins video the moment i got a response from the person brain kicked in and went nope (blocked. on second reread of original comment and response i got the distinct vibe that this person wanted the story beat of Jill "well trained and has seen people have moments of stress works well in a team" Valentine would slap Carlos as he was having a moment of panic at the situation they are in- my most hated moment of the original glad to never see it unless i watch that playthrough again glad it wasn't in the remake because people are dumb enough about it as is... people thought Jill was being too mean to Carlos and Nemesis in the remake)
they mentioned the mercenaries Mad Jakal for Nemesis (continued on with dlc should have been released alongside the game blah blah and how the clock tower was important) and checking it (can't find gameplay as yet with no commentary so just reading) out you can play as Carlos, Nicholai and Mikhail. Nicholai is a interesting choice for a playable character. my current conclusion is it probably would have been released after getting worked on after the base game because it has a good concept and potential story beats (you encounter hostages that you can save but that in itself is a bit irritating as its Brad, Dario the guy we meet at the start locking himself in that safe, Marvin, poster girl and 2 UBCS guys which is yeah how rewarding is it to save this group) but its not a story dlc its run and gun mode (which is fine and there is some strategy involved) they're just fun (sometimes frustrating) but repitive even with different load outs (re7 dlc spoiled us honeslty because they're all so different you have to shift gears when going through them)
I got this when you sent it but I kept forgetting to reply! I've learned the hard way one too many times that the internet argument is never worth it. I think it's a lesson I will have to keep relearning here and there, but eventually!!! I'll just keep to my damn self all the time!
I will be controversial and say I did like the slap moment in the original RE3. I understand that Jill is supposed to be well-trained and put together, but she is like Chris where she'll let her emotions get ahead of her. Not to mention, the Racoon City incident was her experience in the Arklay Mansion on steroids. Jill and Carlos were in an extremely high stress situation over the span of several days and both were running on less than 8 hours of actual sleep the entire time.
To me this wasn't showing Jill as hysterical or mean but was a moment to show how they're both reaching a breaking point. Jill is acting as the older adult using the cliche "slap some sense into them" method, while Carlos is made to realize his own mental lapse isn't helpful, and they both take a moment away from each other after so they can to get their shit together. I like to think that Jill apologized to him in the helicopter ride and explains that she didn't know what else to do to get him back on track in the heat of the moment. I like to think Carlos meets her in the middle saying he understands, and he agrees that suggesting they off themselves was A LotTM, but he also gets her with the firm boundary of asking her not to do that again in the future with the hope they wouldn't come to that point a second time. But that's just me! I get it if other people don't see it that way.
Nikolai doesn't seem like a strange choice. My understanding of the Mercenaries content is having the ability to play main story line characters in melee rushes, so him being there makes sense in that context. And I know about all the RE7 DLC, but the only one I cared about was End of Zoe cause I did want to know if she was okay or not. The rest was meh in my opinion, but that also because I hate Lucas lol.

Ask Answers: July 10th
I really let asks get away from me lately. I was super focused on working on that Patreon Moment. With that done I can finally think about doing other things, so here’s a new collection of answers!
Thank you for sending in questions everyone ^^.
For the new Patreon moment, will you be able to reference it in step 4? Or just like a tiny nod to it if you pick certain choices?
There won’t be. I’m sorry if you were hoping for that! The Patreon moment is meant to be entirely optional, it’s not something that gets you extra content in the main game.
Is the new CG artist the main one now? :0 I’ve noticed theres been a difference in the art style recently. Is the old CG artist still going to make art for the game? :0
The original artist still makes CGs for the game sometimes, but he mainly focuses on character sprites.
Are you going to put the NSFW our life moment on a website other than patreon? I would love to get it but I can't use patreon atm.
I don’t know. I'm afraid we can't release the Patreon Moment on a normal game storefront because we can't mix 18+ content with our family friendly game. If there's some other place similar to Patreon where it's not the normal type of full-scale public content releases we'd consider using that, but I’m not sure if there is another site that’s better than Patreon in that regard. I'm sorry.
Out of curiosity, in all of your games so far, which characters in each were the most fun to write? They obviously don't have to be your favorite characters!
Buffalo Seer in AFA, really everyone in XOD/XOBD is pretty equally entertaining to write, The Guide in LoV, and Cove in OL!
idk if you accept "personal" questions, but is there anything you've been watching/ listening to lately
Mostly, I’ve been watching/listening to Authortube videos as of late! It’s people who talk generally about the process of how books become traditionally published and/or share their own experience as they attempt to be published. I don’t have an interest in writing normal text based books, but it’s really interesting to hear about that world. I’m listening to a video about royalties right now as I answer these asks.
Will one of the desserts we get to pick be fudge? That'd be such a cute reference!
Haha, yeah, it should. Unless I completely blank on it and forget when trying to include the various referential food options.
I don't know if this has been asked previously but what would be the approximate heights for the presets MC can choose from Step 2 ~ 4? Are there any measurement you had in mind? Sorry if I didn't make myself clear kk I've been struggling with my English lately 💀
I don’t know, ahah. I didn’t have any numbers in mind for that. So it’s whatever you imagine it is!
I noticed a bug with the Patreon moment when it comes to what your character wears. When Jamie and Cove are kissing while my character only had dresses selected, I had both the option to remove the dress or to remove the shirt... Picking one of the options to interact with Cove, after he removed his shirt, it had Jamie remove their shirt followed by ther pants despite only having dresses picked.
Thank you for reporting ^^
I keep refreshing steam to see when the new doc for xobd will be released. I noticed you haven't posted anything about it in quite some time. Would it be possible to ask about a timeline/potential date? (If it's even this year—) I know you and your team are probably working super hard, I'm just super curious! ~Thank you!~
There are more stories done, I just haven’t gotten around to publicly releasing them. Hopefully I will have a chance to spend the time on that sooner rather than later!
hello!! i’m not sure if it’s an update but i’ve just replayed our life and at the end i can’t propose to cove anymore? :(( i’ve actually tried playing twice but the options are not there anymore, did you guys remove the options? i’m sorry if you’ve answered this before!! thank you and have a good one :)
I’m afraid things haven’t been changed or removed, so I think you might’ve accidentally picked the wrong things somewhere along the way and locked yourself out of being able to propose by mistake. Sometimes you meant to say you want to get married but instead you mis-click and have it so the MC isn’t thinking about marriage or something. All I can suggest is starting from the beginning of Step 3 and making sure to follow the steps listed in the FAQ. I’m sorry for that.
Did yall remove some of the options for when youre making out with Cove in the charity moment? I could've sworn you could grab his bonkadonk and its not there anymore
This is the same situation as the above. We didn’t remove things and you’re not wrong that there are sometimes those options. But there are various choices you have to make to get those options and it sounds like you accidentally missed something. If your relationship isn’t long-term, you can’t do it for example.
HI IM SO EXCITED I CAN FINALLY GET THE STEP 3 DLC
Thank you for getting it!
Is Shiloh super totally straight bc I’m very gay and a huge Shiloh fan, would my man make an exception?😩
Sadly, he is one of our super straight characters. I’m sorry.
Hi, I have a very dumb question. In Step 2 does Cove not wanna share his drink with us at the mall (or rather why he stops drinking it) because it's an indirect kiss? Or is it like ...weird to him to share? Because if I remember right he eats off our spoon in the birthday scene right?
Yeah, he’s awkward about it because he likes the MC and it feels very personal to share a straw with his crush.
Hi! If you don't mind me asking, who is the artist for OL2? Their style is so pretty!
Thank you for saying so! This is her Twitter- https://twitter.com/redridingheart
Do Beginnings & Always and Now & Forever exist in the same universe?
Yep! XOXO Droplets also exists in the same universe. It’s one big GB Patch world, haha.
Do Pran's parents regret the way they raised him? Do they feel ashamed of it?
No. They’re the type of people best cut out because they’re not gonna change. Which is why Pran does go very limited contact when he’s an adult.
Hi! I just wrapped up my second playthrough of Our Life, and I absolutely adore it, but I had a question. I went to the gallery and found I was missing 2 CGS (specifically Step 1-3 and 2-3) and I had no clue where they would've shown up. Which moments are those found in?
You get it by telling Cove about his dad offering you money to be his friend in Step 1 and Step 2. You can’t get both in one playthrough, since you can only tell Cove the truth once. I’m really glad you liked it!
Hi hi! Please, how tall is Baxter and Derek? Love the game so much and I can't wait to see more!
I don’t know, aha. I think Baxter was around 5′10 and Derek was like 5′8/5′9, maybe. I really am not one who has specific heights for things in mind.
is adult cove a bottom, top, or switch?
A switch, though would choose the top if he had to pick.
I was wondering if there is a way to transfer save data? Even if through the game files. I wanted to be able to transfer my save data from my desktop over to my laptop so that I could continue playing right where I left off from but I'm not entirely sure how to go about that.
If you save the save folder/persistent data of the game from your desktop and put it into the game folder on your other device, that could work.
Hi! Is it possible for us to know the date when our life: now and forever comes out on steam? Sorry if you've mentioned it before but I haven't seen it and I'm looking foward to that happening and just wanted to know :)
It’s gonna be a long time, I’m afraid. There’s no estimate right now.
I started playing Our Life with my sister a while ago, and I think you guys should know that we discovered your secret. >:)
L from death note and Cove are clearly the same person, and this whole game is just an origin story!!
I’ve never seen that show so I’m sorry to say I don’t understand the connection/reference you’re trying to make. I’m pretty out of the loop when it comes to media. I don’t watch movies or TV.
Will OL2 have options for disabled MCs?
I understand if it's too complicated, just curious
Unfortunately, it’s not really something we have a plan for. We couldn’t finish the game if we tried to include every disability and have it be meaningful. It’d just be too much content to create. But if we decide to only include a few, how would we choose which disabilities get to be represented and which are left out? I don’t know. It’ll probably have to be something we don’t include as an option again, sadly. I’m sorry.
playing our life > anything else
Haha, I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
Honestly, I would like to thank Our Life for helping me come to terms with my sexuality. Before, I never would've actually thought that it was possible to like boys romantically and still be asexual. Almost all of the BL visual novels I've read had unskippable sexual content in them and it honestly just didn't click with what I feel. I'm glad I found Our Life. I love the game, the developers, and this fandom so much. Now, I can safely come out as homoromantic AND asexual (at least anonymously here anyway; my parents are still huge homophobes 😂).
Aw, it’s great to hear you felt comfortable being yourself in the game! That’s wonderful. I’m really sorry about your parents, though.
Will the demo for OL2 be on android? Really not sure if I could wait any longer than I have to aha
Yeah, it’ll be available for Android once we eventually release a demo!
Do all these reveals perhaps mean development is progressing ahead of schedule? Please let that be the case I'm already obsessed with Qiu
No, sorry, aha. Art comes along much faster than script/programming-work for us. It’s gonna be a long time before the game is a finished thing you can actually play. But at least we can look at the beautiful images.
Hey! First of all I wanna say I reallllllyyyyy loooovvveeee Our Life and XOXO Droplets! I have over 300 hours of playtime on Our Life… Anyways, I was just wondering, are the Derek and Baxter DLCs going to come out at the same time? If not, which one do you plan to release first? :3
They will come out separately and Derek will be first! Glad you like the game.
I keep replaying Our Life to get every possible iteration and I am loving it <3 I was wondering if Cove gets locked out of his confession because MC was talking to Lee, would it be possible to confess to him in step 4?
Yeah, you can avoid the confession in Step 3 and then get it in Step 4.
Hi, my Cove wears bracelets through step 2 and 3 but I still don't get an option to give him a bracelet? I didn't even know that was possible until I seen someone else ask about it lol
Hm, did you use the Cove creator? Maybe there’s a bug where using the creator to add bracelets doesn’t fulfill the requirement to give Cove a bracelet in Step 3.
Wait, I'm dense, when does Baxter appear in step 2? Is it from big park firework? I feel so bad since i really love Baxter and waiting to buy his dlc.
It’s in the Soiree Moment. You have to be just friends with Cove, indifferent, or crushing but not ask Cove to the dance at all. Then while there you can find someone new to dance with. But if you bring Cove to the dance while crushing, the MC won’t wanna dance with anyone else so you can’t get the scene.
In step 2 when we go to the soiree I made my mc go alone and baxter chooses the mc to dance, i'm curious, why did he pick the mc? sorry if this has been asked before!
Because the MC looked to be around his age, seemed to also be searching for a partner, and had nice legs. A perfect option for him.
I read some of the FAQs, and I saw that we could tell Baxter about the condo that he rented there was previously the mean old grandparents. how do we get the mc to tell him that?
It happens in the DLC Moment “Late Shift”. If you don’t have a job you instead get a longer scene with Baxter.
I don’t know if you’ve addressed this or not, but are you planning on paying voice actors for our life: now and forever?
Yeah, we pay our VAs in all our projects.
hey can i ask how you did the moments thing in ol? im trying to get into making visual novels and while im VERY sure its out of my comfort zone and all that atm i kinda wanna know just for the future, bc im p sure it would work well for something i wanna do :O but its also fine if you cant say for other reasons :>
I’m afraid I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking how we programmed the screen or something script related? Adding Moments like that is pretty straightforward, though. You just have buttons that open to different labels and then the scripts are essentially individual short stories/vignettes. Good luck with your VN!
Since Autumn becomes gender fluid later in the game, will there be a character who remains as he/him to romance in game?
OL1 has the he/him LIs, OL2 is all about other genders.
I don't want to impose on your creative plans, but a parrot could possibly make a good pet in an OL-type game? They're pretty long-lived and likely to still be thriving by the end even if the MC got them back in step 1.
I do appreciate the suggestion, but I’m afraid it’s not likely going to happen. I understand there are technically some animals that could theoretically live long enough to last the whole game that or we could have the MC only get a pet after some years have already passed. But the many things that would have to be considered/accommodated for makes it just something we probably can’t manage adding. I’m sorry.
As time passes will we be able to see Qiu and Tamarack's other stage arts as well?
They are both so cute i can't wait to be friends with them!
Yeah, we’ll show content from other Steps in the future. It’ll be a little while from now, though.
Can you date Cove and still have your family comfort you in the car?
You can’t get Cove’s Step 3 confession scene if you have the family comfort you in the car. But that’s not the only way to date him. You can get together with him earlier in the game or later on in Step 4.
Is Mc always going to be the one walking down the aisle or could Cove do it? Also could you choose to have one of your moms walk you?
No. Cove wouldn’t want to walk down the aisle like that and the MC automatically respects that. And the MC also gets to have their preferences respected, so it’s up to you whether they want to do an aisle walk or not. You also can pick who, if anyone, walks with you.
Once step 4 is out, will you be able to go the whole game on crush/love without either of you confessing?
Yes, as long as you tell the game you don’t want to progress the relationship. Even in Step 4 it won’t force you to officially get together.
Howdy, so in Step 4, there will be any Romance with Derek that is not part of any dlc?
He’s only a friend unless you get his romance story.
Will the step 4 in OL2 be one big step or are you considering moments?
Step 4 is just an epilogue in both games.
hi kind of a weird question but!! we know tht cliff doesn't start dating again but. wht abt flings? like does he ever do 1 night stands or anything? thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope. Cliff has a very small interest in sex. If he’s not in a real relationship with a partner he’s crazy about it simply isn’t something he feels a need for, so one night stands wouldn’t even cross his mind.
sorry if you've already answered this, but i was wondering if there were plans for there to be bonus love interests in OL2 like how we have derek and baxter in OL1.
Maybe! There are side characters who could be given romance stories, but whether or not it will happen depends on funding and how long everything else takes to finish.
I don't know if i'm allowed to ask about ol2 here yet, if not u can ignore this or answer it later. My question is can you date one of them and be good friends with the other? I don't want to be strangers with the other bcs i love them both a lot :<
Yes you can!
what patreon level do i have to be to unlock the nsfw moment? im on the $5 one right now, will that give me access to the moment, or just access to the moment progress?
That’ll give you access! Tier 2 and anything higher allows the player to download it.

Let’s talk about the DLC and how Jimenez is shown in a different light there, okay?
While reading this post, please keep in mind this post is coming from a Ruvik fan who hated Marcelo up until the DLCs. It is mainly geared toward people who hate him, but may be eye-opening for others as well. I didn’t put a ton of hard work into this blog in the past 5 months just to be disregarded and unfollowed because I address some things about a character you hate right now. This post also took me hours to make so please read with an open mind.
I wouldn’t have to make this post if it weren’t for the inconsistencies in the game in the first place. A lot of important information that can’t be ignored was put into the DLCs that should have been in the main game.
Let’s address some elephants in the room first:
considering Mobius as a whole and what they’ve done, there is no doubt they would have killed Ruben regardless of him having time to set up traps and regardless of Jimenez. The big fish will always eat the small one.
(again, coming from a Ruvik fan:) both Ruben and the Administrator have done worse things than Jimenez ever did, yet whoever talks about Jimenez in a non-hateful way gets scrutiny
The point of this post is that after the way the DLC shows Jimenez, you can’t help but look at him at least a bit differently compared to how he is presented in the main game only.
Let’s take the scene that made people hate him:
Tumblr media
when he comes for Ruben with Mobius people, if you only saw this in the main game, you’d think that he knew here that Ruben is going to be killed by Mobius. However that is not the case if you consider everything in the DLCs:
- on the tapes in the DLC he says that at one point Ruben retreats to his mansion, and is only willing to come to work on STEM, and that Jim feels uneasy about this bc Mobius might be looking on them.
Tumblr media
- once Ruben calibrates the machine to work with his brain only and keeps to himself in the mansion, Jimenez expresses how he is afraid what Mobius might do to him if he doesn’t reverse the calibration and he will drag Ruben to Mobius if he has to (to reverse the calibr. so Mobius doesn’t fucking kill him) and this is probably what we see in the main game when he comes for Ruben with the Mobius people.
Tumblr media
Marcelo did not think that Mobius would kill him, that is not why he is there in the main game in that one scene, and here is proof why:
When you listen to the DLC tapes back to back (they are on youtube in one video!), Marcelo is in despair and his voice is utterly sad and disappointed when he finds out that Ruben is dead. The voice actor does a great job making you feel everything as well. Please do go and listen to it.
It is also explained how the name “RUVIK” emerged, and this is why I’ll keep calling him Ruben in my posts as often as possible.
Tumblr media
Outside of the tape, in the scene when he learns about Ruben’s death in the DLC he is heavily distressed as well (also on youtube in any playthrough, please watch it):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So to sum it up, based on main game only you’d think that Jimenez went for Ruben to kill him in that lab scene but after you see the DLC he did not know that Mobius was going to kill him and he was genuinely sad and distressed upon finding out. This is major info that should have been in the main game and not in a DLC. It’s very important when it comes to his personality.
He also expresses earlier in the DLC that it’s due to his own carelessness that Mobius learned about the existence of Ruben and that Ru. was introduced to Mobius but Jim was hoping for Ruben to chill out once getting more test subject and professional gear. It’s also on Marcelo’s tapes in the DLC.
“But he did steal his research???”
Yes he indeed did so, and it’s a cockroach thing to do as Ruben would say. However consider this: Mobius was constantly manipulating and threatening Jim that he will be replaced if he didn’t do so and so. Jim needed to be reputable to have power at Beacon, so he stole the work of Ruben, guessing his because he was the only one being a genius there with a useful research. Jimenez having power at Beacon was the reason that Ruben could go on so long with his research, because Jimenez would bend the rules so Ruben would get a lot of freedom. So no stolen research -> no power to Jim -> no bent rules -> no free reign for Ruben.
Of course he is an asshole for gaslighting Ruben in the scene when he confronts him about the stolen research, he also says cruel things to him, no doubt about that. He too comes off very arrogant and pompous, he should have just said why he did it so Ruben understands. It is still, ofc, not an excuse to plagiarize.
I just really wish all this is obvious to the average player or fan, because if you really dig deep you can hardly hate Jimenez as much (or at all) as just based on the main game.
When he is talking to child Ruben in the beginning that he should not be worried about how he looks but what’s inside his mind that matters, I thought that was really sweet and there is such an amount of mentor-pupil potential in this relationship that should have been shown more it’s unreal. Jimenez surely was the father figure to Ruben instead of Ernesto, it’s just tragic how everything went down.
So again to sum up: - “he killed Ruben” - no he did not, Mobius did, he didn’t know they were gonna kill him, tho it’s only shown in the DLC - “he stole his research” -> to have power at Beacon so he can cover for Ruben and bend the rules for him
And his looks, well... He looks like Anthony Hopkins with a rather good body for someone his age, it’s all personal preference.
It def. makes me feel some type of way that I need to make such an extensive post about why I don’t hate a fictional character to “justify myself” because it’s convenient to ignore canon it seems, or maybe because many people don’t know his DLC tapes. I HOPE that at least you see him in a different way after reading this or that  you understand why I don’t hate Marcelo.
Even if you still hate him after this, please be considerate with others who don’t hate him.

Here it is. the list of Streams of All Time, consisting of vods from Tomato Gaming and Hollowtones. Very different variety streamers but i love them both to death and want to share some of my favorites of theirs. i would get the links to all these but i'll do that later, for now you can just search them up on yt easily
Tomato Gaming (Tomato on twitch)
My Summer Car series (+modded stream): If there’s any way to witness the insanity of this absolutely fucked up Finnish perma-death survival car sim where you try to fix up a car and get with a girl via some… insane tactics, then this is the way to do it. Tomato, for all his competence, decides to go toe-to-toe with this hellish sim, while also learning how to fix up the car from the ground up (with a guide). Entertaining all the way through, for sure.
I’m On Observation Duty streams: Huge Man. All you need to know.
Sailwind stream: what if a man fucked up so badly at every turn trying to do the simple task of sailing from town to town to deliver packages and earn money. See it here.
Outer Wilds series: I find this one rather legendary. The man is smart, and shows that he really admires the game as a whole, as evident by the 8 hr stream he did where he completed the dlc in one sitting right after it came out. Amazing stuff, really.
Teardown series: Anyone will have to admire the dedication he has to the game, balancing well how much he goofs around and how much he focuses upon crafting a perfect route.
Red Dead Redemption 2 rp server series: The Filth is utterly fascinating as a character, a wretched beast that wanders the woods and forever leaves a mark upon those he meets.
Elder Scrolls V Skyrim (Requiem) series: What starts out as a fun romp with a somewhat improved skyrim experience turns into a gut-wrenching story of a disturbed, all-powerful man-god and his efforts to appease his deranged “father”.
The Greatest Penguin Heist of All Time: Tomato and his dear pal Bedbananas play as funny little penguins and kill other funny little penguins in various intense heists. Co-op streams are always a treat to see, and as per usual, Tomato and Bed strike an amazing chemistry together
ANY of the Viscera Cleanup Detail streams: VCD on its own is just fun to watch, and I believe most, if not all of these streams are co-op.
Minecraft streams: This playlist of his has multiple different series and one-offs within, and while I cannot vouch for them all, it’s fun to watch him focus in on progressing in the modpack whilst many others stand in his way.
Dread X Collection streams. Collections of horror games, he did two streams for Collection 2 and one for The Hunt collection. He’s just delightful to watch play some horror games, and really adores a good horror game.
White Day series: A very fascinating old japanese horror game based upon White Day, which I don’t think even has anything to do with White Day at all. His playthrough is one of the few out there, and is a good example of a chunk of games he streams; crusty japanese and korean horror games that have as many merits to them as they have faults.
WorldBox: God Simulator stream: A tale lasting for centuries upon centuries, where civilizations rise and fall to the whims of this mad god, who also likes to be a crab sometimes. Multiple protagonists take and leave the stage, and in one agonizing moment becomes an all powerful villain which holds his own against mind-flaying superbeings. It’s a fun time.
Long Dark series: If it were not evident yet, one of Tomato’s favorite game genres are vicious survival unofficially-horror games, and his play of multiple of Long Dark’s challenges is evident of this. This was one of the first streams of his that I watched, and perhaps I do hold some bias for the entertainment of these, they’re also amazing to watch, and one of the few times you’ll see someone be both good at and enjoy a grueling survival game multiple times.
Murder House, Stay Out of The House, Do You Copy, Feed Me Billy, Death Flush, and Mother streams: Yes, this is multiple streams. They’re not connected in any canon sorta way, but more so by genre; indie horrors, for the most part. I felt it’d be too long to list them all separately, but every one of these are fascinating in their own right, and Tomato’s method of playing them brings you right at ease to enjoy them along with him.
Giraffe Town: Disturbing as hell game in a league of its own. Good stream, go watch it.
Hollowtones
(hollow_tones on twitch)
Super Go Fish For Super Players: two people by the long forgotten names of Holly and Rud are TRAPPED together in the forest of life until they go through this 999 card custom deck, featuring a very many scooby doos, multiple different loz suits, Tragedy, my hero academia, and bitches. Multiple people come and go, flaunting their freedom to watch these two in their hellish, but temporary, purgatory throughout the stream, and all have quite the riot in their endless search for the legendary Rainbow Doo.
Hypnospace Outlaw series: Holly and Mike take a journey to the distant past, to moderate a dream-based form of internet that you’d log into during your sleep. It’s delightful, I promise you that.
My Friend Peppa Pig: Joined by her sister, Holly ventures into this hidden gem of an indie horror game, gathering legendary footage of a piece of history buried beneath the flowing sands of time.
Holly Reads About Sandwiches: A complete reading and analysis of the entire wikipedia article on Sandwiches. Joined by multiple people throughout this 7 ½ hour stream, she uncovers knowledge that should have never been seen by another in this lifetime, nor any other.
Psychonauts/Psychonauts 2: Holly plays through the entirety of the Psychonauts series for the first time (except for Rhombus of Ruin, you’ll need to search for an alternative playthrough of that, as it is important for understanding Psy2), and has a lot of fun. I have little to say here that wouldn’t just spoil how great it is, just go watch it.
Claymates: Claymates.
Outer Wilds series: Sorry Outer Wilds is good so I’m recommending her stream too. Joined by Mike, Outer Wilds expert that takes as much joy as I do in watching anyone play through the game for the first time.
Amongus Streams with RTVS Crew: It’s fucking among us. What do you expect.
Wandersong series: Holly really gives a beautiful voice to every character in the game, and delights in all its charms. Also accidentally names the bard their canon name (other than Bard). If part 4 of the series doesn't work for you in the app, open the video in browser and it’ll work just fine.
Alan Wake series: Holly and Mike approach the game just as any other person should; like a B-movie horror with the fun crustiness of an old xbox shooter title.

ive made a few of these bingo sheets and theyre fun so i decided to make one not just for e3 but also JUST for splatoon 3 (not just for e3 but for like the whole lifetime of the game). also heres my updated list of characters id like to see in smash, ordered generally by which id like more and/or think are the most realistic
since min min got in i took out helix, and since i couldnt decide whether to add in waluigi or madeline i added another row (realistically i dont think any indies are getting in but i threw some in anyway). also i was like “oh yeah maybe theyd put in a gen viii pokemon” so i threw in hatterene since thats one of my favorites.
also as for waluigi (and shovel knight for that matter) i think it would be nice to see an assist trophy get in just to break that rule. also i remember being super surprised he wasnt in brawl (back then i thought he and wario were equally important) and even though that was based on a wrong impression ive still felt like he should be in there ever since
notes about the bingos under the cut
really is about time for those n64 games, especially now that mario is dead so theyre free to release sm64 on it. game boy games would be nice sometime too
would also make sense to include banjo-kazooie in that, nintendos had a good relationship with microsoft lately and the total absence of anything banjo-kazooie on the switch is odd since it’s a dlc character (every other one has a game on switch they can use for cross-marketing, even if joker’s took a while) and i think the best explanation for that would be that theyre holding off for the nso n64 app (this is easiest from a technical standpoint because all they have to do is make a deal to use the roms)
when are they putting octolings in mk8d
xenoblade chronicles x is one of the only wii u games left that they could port (aside from ones that wouldnt make much sense like splatoon and ssb4) so i guess that might as well happen sometime. also monolith soft might be doing something else besides helping with splatoon 3
im not ready for metroid prime 4 (im over halfway through mp2 and therefore the trilogy as a whole) but it’s been a while, they might show it and it could even come out this year
hal apparently recently hinted at a new kirby game or something
the upgraded switch is obviously going to be called the Nintendo Switch ͥ  since they already did the ds lite so theyre clearly naming everything in the family after the ds family, theres absolutely no flaw in this logic. idk if theyre showing it, but unlike 2019 they didnt say they werent showing new hardware (just that they were showing software, which could be taken as denying rumors, but they sometimes specify when certain things arent being shown)
metroid prime trilogy also might come this year. would make sense to release it before mp4 since not everyone is going to buy a wii u to get it (and at this point that doesnt get nintendo any money since they stopped making them)
where is detective pikachu 2. i hope it has the blue pikachu from that first tease they gave us in like 2014 (2013? that was a loooong time ago idk)
they said this was MOSTLY 2021 so i am absolutely getting my hopes up for splatoon 2
the two sinnoh games could likely be there
would be super cool if oddity came to switch. and almost as ironic as megalovania getting into smash
we havent seen the botw sequel for a couple years so we’re kind of due for an update on that
it’s ace attorney’s 20th anniversary this year so maybe theyre doing something. theyre already porting those games though so idk. maybe he’s getting in smash
whats with that watermelon mario render
i held off on watching a playthrough for ndrv3 on the off chance it came to switch and i could play a dangan ronpa game for real for once but it’s now been 4 years and we just passed the 10th anniversary of the series (albeit during a pandemic when i wouldnt expect them to have done anything) so it would be cool to see the series come to switch. i think if it still doesnt after this though i’ll just watch the playthrough, 4 years is long enough. amazed ive avoided spoilers this long, i still know next to nothing about the game
im about done with acnh but im still waiting on those splatoon items. and i ran out of storage in february so i need more of that too
nintendo did stuff for zelda’s 30th anniversary so i doubt theyre forgetting the 35th. maybe wwhd/tphd ports, idk
been a couple years since fire emblem, intelligent systems is probably up to something besides planning yet another paper mario spinoff
miyamoto forgot pikmin 4 in the oven 6 years ago and it got burnt to a crisp and thats why it hasnt come out yet because he had to start over
and splatoon
the inklings scared daft punk into quitting so now that theres no competition in the robot musician scene they should have a daft punk style group
i waited and waited and neither of my top two splatoon stages (flounder and d’alfonsino) came back in splatoon 2 so i hope just because splatoon 3 isnt in inkopolis doesnt mean they still wont return
would be sick as hell if there was a real hide and seek mode instead of just sticking to your own rules in private battles. havent played that since 2015 but it was super fun
show us the effects of the chaos world
i wanted mc craig to have a song in octo expansion and they didnt deliver. heres another chance
splatnet 3 baby
cant wait for nogami to do a funny 3 pose
abxy came back for splatoon 2.... am i gonna be that lucky again...?
salmon run doesnt make sense if youre friends with a smallfry but they could either change the story context (you just fight “evil” salmonids?) or replace it with an equally fun co-op mode
amiibo!!! i think i said this before but they should label them by weapons if these cephalopods dont have genders, would make more sense (the gendered ones had different weapons anyway)
returning characters!!!! would like to see everyone have a role of some kind
maybe #GearForAll wasnt successful in getting the emperor/spy/mecha gear, but perhaps theyll at least consider not making that stuff exclusive this time around
squid girl gear should be back. and they should call it a dress instead of a tunic because its a dress. and theres no gender now anyway
as ive said before... TRIPLIES!! you hold one in each hand and another in your mouth. and you can spin around like the tasmanian devil
remove splatfest tee annoyances: you should have a prompt at the end of a splatfest to pay to scrub your tee (to make sure you get the chunks) also it should be on a neutral brand so you dont end up with an overabundance of ink resistance up (or whatever else)
better online and cloud saves would certainly justify having a second splatoon game on the same console, as much as im loving that it exists
hopefully theres a global testfire again
sooner or later the workers will rise up and kill mr grizz
remember in splatoon 1 where if you had squid beatz (via the amiibo) you could “play” it in the lobby and change the music? then you were stuck listening to only bubble bath in splatoon 2? why did they take that option away they should bring it back
looking at those apartment buildings in the trailer i think it would be cool if you had your own room and could decorate it
an octavio redemption arc would be fun to see. in the manga he stole the zapfish because the octarians had an energy crisis, and in the end they worked out a deal to share the electricity
