#also!! I'm thinking about his fight with shou

actually I'm not done thinking about teru and ritsu's friendship. I think teru might be one of ritsu's first real friends. ritsu isn't like,, the most social kid in the universe, and I think he has plenty of superficial friends (see: "I talk about the weather with pretty much anyone") but I think the only real close friends he has are teru and shou. and I think it's bc both of them are people he met without his Perfectly Ordinary Middle Schooler mask. he has to fill the role of honor student, perfect son, doting brother, etc. all the time while ALSO trying to blend into the background and be inconspicuous, and that's part of why he lashed out like he did during the cleanup arc, but with teru and shou, his first encounter with both of them involved him being an arrogant little shit that's willing to pick fights, which contradicts the perfect kid act AND the perfectly ordinary middle schooler act, and is in fact much more honest bc he's not hiding this kind of nasty side to himself. and that honesty works out for him with these two! teru sees himself in ritsu because he's also kind of an arrogant little prick, and aside from initially trying (and succeeding) to intimidate him, teru looks out for him and risks his life trying to save him and they genuinely get along pretty well! and with shou, he sees that ritsu is willing to fight him on his own and he's like "oh you're fucking nuts, we need to be best friends now" and immediately respects him a lot just because he's not gonna run away from a fight he's certain to lose. idk, I just think it's important that ritsu's first real friends are ones who saw him in rather ugly circumstances and wanted to be friends with him anyway

out of curiosity, what are the common qEtoiles mischaracterizations, and the accurate characterizations you wished people used more? Sincerely, an English speaking fan who is re-learning French!
honestly i kind of consider it a mischaracterization when people like... make etoiles into this team leader who always knows what to do and move things forward. or like that he has a bad attitude to like... match his fighting skills. or like the dark knight brooding warrior. he says he is these things. these are lies. he lies about himself constantly. i wouldnt trust a good 2/3 of the things he says about himself to be true. you read him clearer through his actions than his statements.
in my opinion etoiles is more like. sturdy second in command. he's not there to lead, he's there to fill in the holes where they pop up. he's there as cover. he's quick witted in shortchange scenarios, but that is so not the same thing as a genuine strategist. in another expression, if someone is a leader, the leader is a doctor, etoiles's role is more like... the EMS team in an ambulance. He's not there to fix your problem, he's there to keep your problem covered until you can get someone else to fully fix it. but that doesn't mean his role is any less important when he's needed.
Etoiles is also, like, so very much a team player if he respects and trusts a person. And it is so easy to have his respect and trust. His trust starts at 100% for everyone. he's also so very very very good at reading people (gesture to the bbh clip where bbh moves his mouse slightly downward and etoiles calls him out on being depressed). He read Mousey as enjoying dungeons and pvp way more and wanting to hang out with her. He's also one of the only people who like continuously runs in the girlies group and makes all of them pvp with him and they all love it so he keeps coming back to pvp with them. Thats how he started his whole thing with Tina and pvping with her constantly. Reading other people also, he loves finding other pvpers so he attacks roier constantly now bc he knows roier can pvp.
What else OH Etoiles loves whining (and this is because Rayou loves whining) that dude will just complain constantly. You haven't seen an etoiles stream if youve never seen him whine. Can't say I'm not kind of endeared by it. With this too he loves over explaining things (RIP armor powerpoint wish you couldve been given...) because he wants to help everyone....
OH and he's very over exaggerated too in replying to people in a complaining way and a self deprecating way and also likes to try to push the envelope with people and he does all of that to try and get a laugh out of others. like he's well aware people find him going "Oh so you don't give a shit about me and want me to die ? you want etoiles to die ?" fucking hilarious and also loves complaining in the first place thats why he does that. if your etoiles isn't complaining and whining then it isn't etoiles. the self deprecating thing is... its interesting bc he does have full faith in his abilities but will never say it out loud unless its trying to reassure someone who is worried. pushing the envelope is so specific he won't do it too much and its like........... from what ive seen (correct me if im wrong) heavily directed at non francophones where if they laugh at something wack he's done he'll try to do it again to make them laugh more. shoutout to the time he made bbh laugh so much when he cursed he didn't get languaged by bbh so he kept cursing to try to make bbh do it again. the dudes a total people pleaser.
smaller thing ive talked about extensively already (u can prob find it in my q!etoiles tag if i remember i'll edit a link to the posts in here soon lol) etoiles hates losing he looooooves winning he's very intense about it lol. its cute!
on a final note even if you don't become deeply unwell about etoiles like i am i think this highlight clip video has like everything he's like condensed into like 11 minutes. You should watch it. It's a good starting point.

Signs Serizawa knows Reigen has no powers
The Reigen spinoff implies that Reigen hasn't told Serizawa who he really is yet. I think plenty of people have taken this to mean that Serizawa is still unaware, but I disagree. I'm fairly certain that Serizawa already knows the truth and has accepted it, not caring to call Reigen out for his lies because they don't matter that much to him.
Read ahead for a long list because I have no life...
Tumblr media
1) Mob's memories
We don't really know what exactly Serizawa saw from Mob's memories (we catch a few glimpses in the anime, but we don't know how many memories he saw nor how clearly he actually did). However, it could be enough for Serizawa to know what Mob knew at the time—maybe not that Reigen is powerless entirely, but at least that he is lying about what he is truly capable of.
2) Serizawa probably overheard the conversation between Toichiro and Reigen
I mean, he jumps in to save Reigen at the perfect time, so I feel like he was watching the conversation leading up to that point from the sidelines. Toichiro called Reigen out for being a powerless fraud, and Reigen did not confirm but he also did not deny it.
3) Serizawa only defied Toichiro when he was going to attack Reigen
The fact that Serizawa finally decides to defy Toichiro at that key moment... I feel like he was only able to muster up that courage because he knew it was a matter of life or death for Reigen. He knew that Reigen wouldn't be able to defend himself like Mob or Shou could, so he finally decided to act then despite knowing it would betray the man he admired most.
4) Serizawa never questions why Reigen is unable to do certain things
Granted, a lot of this is just how Serizawa is as a person, as he's not the confrontational type at all and tends to just go with the flow. However, even Mob questioned Reigen sometimes, like pointing out that he should've been able to see weak spirits or asking why he didn't do anything to help. Serizawa never does, he never really expects Reigen to do anything regarding spiritual matters. Serizawa never questions why Reigen does nothing in the yokai fight, for example.
People might point to times where Serizawa leaves Reigen to do something on his own (i.e. the train ova where Serizawa leaves Reigen in the parallel dimension or the scene in Season 3 where Serizawa initially says nothing while Reigen holds a cursed object). However, I don't think it necessarily means Serizawa thinks Reigen has powers, I think it just means Serizawa trusts Reigen's experience in the field. Serizawa may be a powerful esper, but he has little experience using his powers in an actual job.
In the train OVA, Serizawa was just following advice from a business handbook that said to never question one's boss. I think it's notable that the moment Reigen tells Serizawa he can make decisions for himself, the first thing Serizawa says is "Please, let me help you somehow." It feels like that was something Serizawa wanted to do this whole time, but Reigen kept telling him to leave him to his investigation and he felt like he had to listen.
A similar mindset is why Serizawa just lets Reigen hold a really cursed object and doesn't say anything about it until Reigen asks him. Serizawa was just too used to blindly leaving things to his superior rather than following what he thought was right.
5) Serizawa tries to stop Reigen from entering the storm
When Reigen and Serizawa try to brave the storm caused by Shigeo, Serizawa says that they cannot continue as his powers are being drained. Reigen tells him that he will go forward on his own, claiming he'll be fine, but Serizawa says "there's no way you'll be fine!"
Those aren't the words of someone who believes Reigen has any powers, in my opinion. Those are the words of someone who knows Reigen is utterly powerless and sincerely believes that him braving the storm will be a death sentence. If someone as powerful as Serizawa can't brave the storm, how could Reigen possibly survive?
6) Serizawa never refers to Reigen as a psychic
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG. However, I genuinely do not recall any scene where Serizawa refers to Reigen as a psychic or even mentions Reigen having powers. Even Mob, despite questioning Reigen's honesty, referred to him as a strong psychic from time to time. Serizawa never does that, as far as I can tell.
Anyway, that's all the evidence I can think of. Thanks for reading if you made it this far 😭

Hi! I know you’re not accepting requests or anything but wanting ideas on Yasushi? Maybe one were Yasushi likes Tsuji or Shibaman twin or sister (or both she could be their other best friend) and has since they grew up in the duplex and is actually close to her. He doesn’t know how to tell her so he seeks help from them and the other Oya high students to come up with a big surprise way to ask her out since he has no idea how to deal with feelings or even being nice sometimes when he is nervous.
Yasushi x Tsuji&Shiba’s Best Friend | Fluff
a/n: Hello! It was really an old request but im still trying to finish them, sorry :’)) This is totally fluff and for our little psycho ;) So hope you like it ❤️🌸
Sorry for the grammer or spelling mistakes.English is not my main language so...
Thank you and love you 🥰
Warnings: maybe blood and knife but TOTALLY FLUFF QFGSGSG
Tumblr media
Yasushi nervously listened to the stupid ideas of the others. He knew from the start that it was a terrible idea. At first, his aim was only to get ideas from Tsuji and Shibaman, but now all Oya was involved.
Yasushi had a crush on Tsuji and Shibaman's childhood friend for a long time. Although they didn't like each other much when they were kids, as they grew up and became friends with the duo, he started to fight less with Y/n. And in time, he realized that she was no longer a little girl, but quite a different young girl.
Now he wanted to tell her that he likes her and date her, but he had no idea how…
The discussion ended when Nakaoka offered the idea about kidnapping y/n and told him to pretend to save her, and Todoroki, Tsuji, and Shiba yelled at him.
Yasushi knew from the very beginning not to trust them with this...
Fearing that Yasushi might like the idea for a moment, Tsukasa and Todoroki followed him and started walking with him. Later, Tsuji and Shiba also joined them.
"We're all idiots, I really don't think we're the right people for this."
Shiba nodded his head as Tsuji said with disappointment.
"Although Y/n grew up with us, she's not like us. If you want, text her and tell her you need help with something, I'm sure she will come."
At Shiba's idea, Tsuji nodded. Others found this idea plausible.
“But y/n is currently doing an internship at the hospital. After Internship might be a better idea.”
After Shiba said, Tsuji nodded his head.
"Y/n-chan seems to like sweet things, how about making her a cake?"
With Tsukasa's idea, Tsuji spoke excitedly.
"She loves orange cakes, her favourite, I'm sure she'll be happy."
Yasushi nervously nodded his head. After talking a little more, he said goodbye to his friends and went home.
He had spoken to Kiyoshi before entering the house. His friend was supporting him, but he was afraid that he would be upset in the end.
Although Yasushi might seem tough and a bit psychopathic, the people he cared about were very important to him.
Y/n was pretty cute, but she was also a strong and good girl. He especially impressed that she always had Tsuji and Shibaman's back.
He didn't know when he fell in love with her. But he knew very well that this was the first time he had felt this way towards someone.
After thinking nervously for a while, he sent the message he wrote and put the phone aside.
He was sitting on his bed waiting for an answer. He was nervously playing with his fingers. About 4 minutes later, when he got a positive response, he stood up excitedly and started thinking about what to do.
He took a quick shower, arranged something to wear, and started planning for tomorrow. He was going to make her a nice cake for tomorrow night.
***
Yasushi hadn't told anyone about his plan. -except Kiyoshi- Because he didn't want anything to ruin today.
You couldn't tell if he was excited or scared. He was pretty good at hiding his feelings. But right now the sweat drops on his forehead could betray him…
When he opened the door to go to the grocery store, he didn't expect to find all his friends at the door of his apartment. As Fujio shouted excitedly, he quickly closed the door and took a deep breath.
The knocking sounds continued for a while, then he opened the door and glared at them angrily.
"What are you doing here?"
Fujio and Nakaoka grinned while Todoroki and Tsukasa watched them with judgmental eyes. Others didn't seem ashamed at all.
“We came to help you make a cake, Yasushi!”
Yasushi looked at them in horror as Fujio spoke excitedly. He was sure that this would not end well…
***
Y/n was helping one of the nurses. Her internship was about to end. She looked at her watch and smiled. She would meet Yasushi soon.
“Y/n, a young patient came in. He needs stitches. Could you please look over here?"
Y/n proceeded to the last patient who came before the end of the shift. She looked at him in shock with the face she saw when she opened the curtain.
“Yasushi-kun?!”
Yasushi looked at her nervously and smiled. He didn't know what to say either. Seeing the blood flowing from his hand, the young girl quickly took the supplies and pulled up a chair and sat in front of the bed. She was asking questions while cleaning the wound.
Yasushi was watching the young girl without saying anything like a guilty child. After Y/n had put the last stitch, she lifted her head and looked at him.
"Aren't you going to say something? How did it happen?"
Yasushi sighed and shook his head
“It happened while I was chopping an orange.”
Y/n asked in surprise, wanting to confirm if she understood correctly that the young boy was muttering.
"Excuse me?"
Yasushi shyly replied
“Orange… I was chopping an orange.”
Y/n wanted to laugh but held back. Yasushi said angrily when he saw the young girl holding back her laughter
“It's all because of those idiots. I was going to make you an orange cake. Because I heard you love them and I wanted you to be happy. I didn't notice when I was shouting at them and the knife cut my hand. I will kill them.”
Y/n stared at him in surprise as Yasushi spoke angrily. When the young boy realized what he was saying, he averted his eyes and y/n asked shyly.
"Were you making me a cake?"
Y/n smiled as Yasushi nodded in embarrassment.
“Thank you, I feel really happy.”
Seeing the blush on the young girl's cheeks, Yasushi also smiled and nodded his head.
“Y/n… will you go on a date with me? A real date. I'll buy you an orange cake, too."
Y/n chuckled as Yasushi spoke excitedly and slowly bandaged his hand to finish her job. Yasushi was waiting for an answer from her. The young girl stood up slowly and placed a small kiss on the cheek of the boy sitting on the stretcher.
“My shift got longer because of you, so you better hurry.”
As the young girl took her supplies and walked over to the nurses, Yasushi smiled broadly and thanked those idiots inside. For the first time, their stupidity had a happy ending…

Hakuoki Shinkai Hana no Shou Animate Bonus Drama CD "Unchanging Feelings" Eng translation
Anyone happen to know where content that is probably under the title of 「土方さんの習字について」 comes from? Found it saved in my Nimble file in both JP and CN... and I have no where idea it came from. It's short exchange between Hijikata, Souji and Kondou.
Anyway, this translation is of the Hana no Shou Animate Bonus CD 「変わらぬ想い」. I actually had this on my to-do list for a while since I'm pretty sure I don't have any Iba content that's longer than two sentences (well, I'm at least pretty sure about that?)... but I just never got around to it (or a number of other drama CDs that I want to have translated...😅). Suppose it helps that I got discouraged (again) from translating the Shimabara Disturbance drama's first track as I have to go and review some videos to fill in the gaps where text is missing for that... and doing this felt like less work despite how it felt like a pain to do.
Tumblr media
enjoy~? Almost didn't make it because I had a hard time with one sentence...
Hakuoki Shinkai Animate Bonus Drama CD "Unchanging Feelings"
Translation by KumoriYami
Iba: As expected, the Shinsengumi's training is strict, but I also feel that the time spent has been very meaningful. And practising with the officers has been exhausting.
Toudou: Oh, isn't that Hachiro? Have you come to train?
Iba: Heisuke-kun! Yes, I've just started to rest now.
Heisuke: Speaking of which, you really do seem to like our training.
Iba: I'll take that as a compliment.
Heisuke: How was the training?
Iba:There are many people who use different techniques and styles, and it's a great learning experience. I accidently got carried away and sparred with everyone many times. If I don't properly rest, I feel that my body won't be able to keep up.
Toudou: That's because Hachiro is very popular. There are many members who want to train with you.
Iba: Truly, I'm very happy.
Toudou: That's right! Who did you train with today?
IbaL Shinpat-san was my first opponent. He's as strong as ever.
Toudou: Shinpat-san is very strong.
Iba: If we were in a tsubazeriai*[references at end], I would be the one to lose, so I tried to prevent that from happening as much as possible.
tsubazeriai can be used to describe a situation where two swordsmen are very close to each other where they both try to push forward. To simplify this would be to say that they are is when they are in "neck-and-neck" competition."
Toudou: But Shinpat-san would definitely charge ahead without any mercy, right?
Iba: Precisely.
Toudou:If that happens, it feels you'd get supressed right away. It truly feels good to know that he's companion.
Iba: That's true. Ah, after that, I sparred with Saito-kun.
Toudou: Oh, how was that?
Iba: Saito-kun's iai has great value. That being said, there's no time to think about that during training.
Toudou: Hajime-kun and Shinpat-san aren't the same when it comes to strength.
Iba: My own training is insufficient.
Toudou: Hehe, then I can't lose!
Iba: Heisuke-kun still hasn't changed at all.
Toudou: You say that, but isn't it the same for Hachiro?
Iba: Me?
Toudou: That's right, it's just like that time, as long as Hachiro showed up at Shiekan, you and everyone would engage in matches.
Iba: Yes, I previously used to train a lot.
Toudou: As long as someone challenges you, you'd accept accept it.
Iba: Isn't that the same for Heisuke-kun? Didn't you Shinpat-san used to have some pretty wild fights before?
Toudou: Ah, I miss those. They were the sort that didn't end unless someone collapsed.
Iba: Of course, the two of you were both over your heads/stubborn.
Toudou: Even though I really got beaten until I collapsed, we were scolded by Hijikata-san.
Iba: Even if we try to console him, he wouldn't listen at all.
Toudou: It's because it feels like Shinpat-san's physical strength is endless, that his attacks are relentless.
Iba: I know how you feel. It's because we know the other party is strong that we fixate on not losing.
Touodu: We surprisingly haven’t changed at all.
Iba: Indeed, even back then, Toshi-san was obsessed with victory and defeat.
Toudou: Why are you bringing up Hijikata-san now?
Iba: When mentioning things that haven't changed, the first person that comes to mind is Toshi-san.
Toudou: Hachiro, you've really admired Hijikata-san for a long time.
Iba: Yes, Ithis hasn't changed since then.
Toudou: Hey, what exactly is so good about HIjikata-san? Not that I hate him or anything.
Iba: Toshi-san is a very good person. Not only is his swordsmanship excellent, but I was attracted to his character.
Toudou: Like how/For instance/example?
Iba: For example, he's very strict but is still treats us with love.
Toudou: Love!?
Iba: On one hand, he has resolute and unwavering beliefs, but he simultaneously has a weakness to cute things.
Toudou: Was there such a thing?
Iba: Even his ability to not drink is quite charming.
Toudou: Haha, I get that!
Hijikata: Tch, you guys, what exactly is it that you know.
Heisuke: Hijikata-san?!
Iba: Tosh-san! We were just talking about Toshi-san.
Hijikata: Yeah, I figured… I could hear uncomfortable subjects from afar.
Iba: Toshi-san, you you like to talk about this too?
Hijikata: What do you want me to say?
Iba: Of course, about how outstanding Toshi-san is.
Hijikata: Spare me. Furthermore, it'd be too embarrassing if the other members heard this so please stop.
Iba: Is that so. That's a pity. Since Toshi-san has said that, I won't say anymore.
Hijikata: Geez, you. Also, Heisuke! I'm not bad at drinking!
Toudou: Ah, I get it. (Hijikata walks away). That scared me. Hijikata-san has seriously good ears, I don't know he always appears when he's mentioned.
Iba: That aspect hasn't changed at all.
Toudou: That's right. Who knows when he started listening/when his ears became so sensitive.
Iba: Hey, Heisuke-kun.
Toudou: What is it?
Iba: You, Heisuke-kun, who has since been learning from everyone else and going in the same way since the beginning/Everyone, including Heisuke-kun, who used to be shrouded in obscurity is now in Kyoto as the prestigious Shinsengumi, and I became an Okuzume. Although we're not in the same position, we all serve the shogunate. Thinking of about it all this way, always feels incredible.
Toudou: Ah, that's right.
Iba: What's wrong?
Toudou: I mean this hypothetically, but what if you questions about where you fit in/belonged?
Iba: Eh? Do you have questions about where you belong?
Toudou: Yeah.
Iba: If I had any questions, then I would be not be questioning where it was that I belonged, but myself.
Toudou: What do you mean?
Iba: I have my own beliefs about the work I do as an Okuzume. Because of that, I often get anxious about whether or not what I do is useful.
Toudou: I see. So Hachiro also feels the same way.
Iba: Yes, I have thinking of this especially lately.
Toudou: I've been thinking about some things lately. the people who've been joining the Shinsengumi, and how it's changed. In the future, when these changes become bigger and bigger, will I be able to think as I do now?
Iba: Heisuke-kun...
Toudou: Sorry, I said something weird.
Iba: Ah, no, not really.
Toudou: Forget about what I just said. It's almost time for me to go on patrol. I'll be going!
Iba: Oh, Heisuke-kun! Wait a moment!
(Heisuke runs off)
What happened to him? Ah? Toshi-san! How long have you been there?
Hijikata: Ah, you noticed me. I was just passing by. By the way, is that guy Heisuke, okay?
Iba: Ah, Toshi-san is also worried about Heisuke-kun? That's why just now.
Hijikata: We've known each other for a long time so it's hard to not notice any changes to him. Although I've been trying to keep more of an eye on him lately, that guy's been worrying about something by himself all the time.
Iba: So that's how it is. Although Heisuke-kun seems to be thinking about a number of things, I think it's best to leave him to think to himself.
Hijikata: I see.
Iba: It's fine. If Heisuke-kun really has a problem, he has a trustworthy comrade beside him.
Hijikata: Trustworthy is it, well, maybe so.
Iba: Speaking of which, Toshi-san, do you had questions about where you belong after that?
Hijikata: What, why are you suddenly asking about this sort of thing.
Iba: It just came to mind. Of course, just hypothetically.
Hijikata: The moment I suspect that the Shinsengumi is over, I think it's my responsibility to prevent that situation from happening.
Iba: : Even so, if one day the Shinsengumi really changes, and if that sort of thing really happens, will Toshi-san be able to stay the same as before?
Hijikata: As long as Kondou-san and I are alive, the Shinsengumi will not change. But if change happens, then I won't change, regardless of how large the changes are around me, I just need to stick to my beliefs.
Iba: As expected, Toshi-san is indeed the same Toshi-san from before.
Hijikata: What are you saying.
Iba: It's so great that I met Toshi-san, I've been attracted to you for a long time.
Hijikata: Hey, that's why I asked you to stop saying such embarrassing things for others to hear.
Iba: Really? Is it something embarrassing?
Hijikata: You haven't changed at all. How is it that I can be so interesting to you?
Iba: Of course that's because I respect Toshi-san.
Hijikata: As you wish, but, just don't mention this sort of thing in front of the other soldiers.
Iba: Ah, I understand.
Hijikata: Then I'll be going first.
Iba: Ah, please Toshi-san, I'll be going back to training, so please accompany me!
(footsteps)
(The current situtation is very turbulent, but even if everything changes, the ideals I have in my heart will remain unchanged. The guidance he gave just now, has clearly been engraved into my thoughts. I will just believe in what you said, Toshi-san.)

if your interested i was curious about your thoughts/analysis on the mp100 ritsu/shou parallels or just ritshou in general
omg yes my special little narrative foils <3
SO. i've mentioned this offhand before but what i find the most interesting isn't actually the obvious parallel itself, it's that this parallel was drawn by shou within the fiction of the story, and i don't think the narrative actually means for us to take it entirely at face value
what i mean by this is that shou correctly identified the specific vein of resentful defensiveness that him and ritsu share based on their family backgrounds but like. obviously mob and touichirou are vastly different people playing extremely different roles in their lives. and that's going to affect the way those relationships impact them.
(imo at the time he was verbalizing all this, i think shou simultaneously overestimated ritsu's disdain for mob based on his own cocktail of biases (and because he didn't particularly like him), and underestimated just how fucked in the head his father was)
this can be seen illustrated pretty unambiguously in ???% arc, where they each come away from their respective familial conflicts with polar opposite feelings regarding psychic powers- for ritsu, they were something empowering that allowed him to bridge the gap between him and his brother. for shou, they were something to reject, inextricably linked to pretty much everything that went wrong in his and his father's relationship. and despite being obviously contradictory, these are both conclusions that make sense for them to reach, based on their experiences.
(though given this universe's philosophy i'm sure shou will have to contend with this stance eventually. but that's not what i'm talking about right now)
despite all that though i do think this connection was deeply meaningful to them, especially shou. like it is objectively hilarious that this kid is going around calling someone who treats him like an acquaintance his Best Friend after like, three extremely tumultuous encounters but i do think this speaks to how much of a lifeline it was to encounter a kid his age with circumstances even remotely similar to his (and probably why he jumped to conclusions a tiny bit)
it's an extremely thirteen year old thing to do to look at a kid like ritsu and think he's the coolest person you have ever met in your entire life, but in the noble tradition of taking everything about shou and thinking about it until it becomes kind of heartbreaking, i do think the way he latched onto him had a lot to do with that desperate need to be seen. especially because i imagine the environment fostered around claw was driving him slowly insane with how dismissive it would've been towards, you know, the general way his father was, and how that affected him
i find it hard to imagine ritsu was in as dire straits, especially because him and mob were like. already starting to make progress on their Whole Deal by the time shou barreled into the picture itching to fix his life by fighting his dad. (and it definitely doesn't help that he's not exactly as outgoing or like. conventionally sociable as shou) but i don't think he was unaffected by this connection, and he clearly likes him, even if he's not as enthusiastic lol
my concluding unrelated ritshou thought is that i find it extremely easy to imagine them spending all of high school acting like a mall couple but not actually dating. and also i think they should get married someday solely because the in-law situation would be very very funny, and my end goal with all media is to come up with the most uncomfortable possible family dinner configuration for the sake of doing elaborate bits.

Okay no but I'm actually devolving into Shimateru like one of those water soluble pills that turns into a small foam dinosaur. Like I wasn't sure at first but now I get it, I am insane about it—
Because aside from the astronomical sexual tension between them for each of their fights, Shimazaki is the ONLY other person that Hanazawa has lost to aside from Mob. And given that Hanazawa has seemingly been running from Claw for so long, I don't think it's wrong to say that he's likely up there with Shou in power level—so either on par with or juuust below the Ultimate Five. Hanazawa probably wouldn't have lost to anyone else; the others in the Ultimate Five included, because Shimazaki seems to be the most ruthless and sadistic out of all of them.
But again!! Hanazawa is ALSO likely one of the only people that could beat Shimazaki!!! (We don't count Reigen because he has Sponge abilities so Shimazaki literally can't even see him, but other than that it's likely just Toichiro and Mob). And not even just because of power—it's like Hanazawa says; "Even I could defeat you." Meaning that he KNOWS his power level is below Shimazaki's—it's about the strategy. Both Hanazawa and Shimazaki wouldn't be nearly such intimidating fighters if they weren't incredibly smart to go along with it. Knowing where and when to move is half the fight (unless you're Mob apparently but that's okay bc we love him for being a literal supernova), and figuring out what strategies work on which opponent in real time is super impressive!
Which is why the idea of Shimateru has me so so so obsessed rn: it's about the ANTAGONISM 🤌 It's the idea of Shimazaki taking an interest in Teru earlier and being the one that hunts him down for Claw, but then backing off and letting him run because he's having too much fun fighting him. It's about the Cat and Mouse dynamics. It's about the Reformed™ Villain with lingering anger issues and violent impulses suddenly getting accosted and tempted by a Villain who has NOT reformed—likely the only one left who hasn't. It's about falling back into old habits because Shimazaki is the one person Hanazawa is "safe" doing so with. It's about the fact that Hanazawa could call Mob at any time to make Shimazaki go away, could end things whenever he wanted, but he doesn't. It's about the VIOLENCE and INTRIGUE 🤌🤌🤌✨
GOD I'm going feral, I'm going insane, I think they should've gotten more screentime together because they have such a fun dynamic. I think Shimazaki should've been chasing Hanazawa down for Claw, they should've been enemies for longer, that tension should've brewed like royal tea in a china pot for far longer it would've been SO GOOD 🙏🙏😩

You're you and that's enough for me (George Russell)
Note: english is not my first language, and I just recently got suckered in F1 and it all lives in my head in different scenarios
Also, this is in no way shaming anyone, as you can imagine I don't know anybody mentioned here as this is purely fiction
Tw: self doubt, self confidence/body image issues, slight mentions of smut
I'm very sure that this isn't all that great but I had this idea on my head and I thought I might share
Feedback is appreciated 🤍
As you walked next to George down the paddock, you glanced around all the different teams, fans and photographers. It was so easy to get suckered in the atmosphere, the teams' rush to get everything ready, the fans' excitement to see their favourite racers fight for the podium, and most importantly, your boyfriend's chance of having a good race.
As you arrived in the Mercedes hospitality, you greeted everyone and after sharing a few conversations with the team, one of the engineers came to get George, which meant that you would only see him after the race, not wanting to disturb his focus for the hours ahead.
"Go and show them what you can do, my love", you hugged him as you pressed a light kiss to his clothed chest, "I'll be waiting for you to get back here safe and sound". He hugged you tighter and pressed a quick kiss to your forehead, "will do darling", before he gave a final squeeze and left to go get ready.
You chatted away and enjoyed the quiet(ish) time until they started gathering the cars so they could start the race.
Going down to the garage, you were given a headset that allowed you to listen to the radio, and although you couldn't really help strategy wise, it helped you hearing George's voice whilst he was driving. Ironically enough, for someone who didn't particularly enjoy speed and was as cautious as they come, you ended up dating someone who does the opposite for a living, leading you to believe whoever was in control of all of this had a good laugh when they placed the now Mercedes drive in your path.
As the number of laps increased and the fights for the place in front heated, you could sense the confidence in the team as they read all the stats in the screens and looked at the overall race.
"I think we might get a podium today", one of the guys commented and the others agreed, and although you didn't want to jinx it, you couldn't help the giddiness that came over you slowly as you saw the pace his car was going at and the comfortable time and distance he held from the 4th place driver. And as he finished in 3rd place, the whole garage erupted in cheer, congratulating eachother, whilst you still a bit shaken up from it all. He did it again, "Turns out he is the new Mr Consistency, eh?", George's communication assistant said, "it seems so... sorry, I can't even put into words what's going through my head now", you tried to reply, managing to at least successfully clap everyone along with everyone in the garage, waiting for him.
As he exited the car and hugged Toto, you were next, cuddling into him quickly as you expressed your pride in him, "you were amazing, congratulations handsome!", earning a what you thought was a thank you, muffled by his helmet and the noise all around you.
Back at the hotel after dinner, you were doing your nightime routine and you started thinking about something that had bothered you every now and then during the day. All of the wives and girlfriends looked their absolute best, flawless faces and outfits jotted down to the littlest detail, and then there was you: tired eyes (you wanted to be a WomanInSTEM and that had its consequences), acne (apparently that's a thing in adulthood too), and you didn't look at all like them, your curly hair going wild with the little humidity in the air and you knew you did not look like all the models that chose the paddock as their runway.
"You're very quiet love, what's on your mind?", deep in your thoughts you didn't even notice the brit hugging you from behind and settling his head on your shoulder. You contemplated saying it was just tiredness (the dark circles were a solid ally) but one look at George's eyes through the mirror and you knew there was no way you were going to get away with it.
"Why me? I don't look like all of the other women in the paddock today and", you gathered your thoughts as George let you do so without interrupting, "it's just, I find it quite weird how I am in there, when you could have someone else? I don't know, maybe it's silly and now I'm ruining your podium and..."
You were stopped by your boyfriend, "Can I say something now?", he said gently whist grabbing your hands that were now playing with his fingers that rested on your mid section, and you nodded, "I love you so much, and there is no one else I'd rather be celebrating my podium with... you are so beautiful to me, it's still astonishing to me how someone so gorgeous and so smart is lying next to me everytime I go to sleep and wake up in the morning. I'm the only one in the paddock who can say their girlfriend is a PhD, how amazing is that?", he said as his hands touched the skin on your tummy under the pyjama set you were wearing.
You turned around and looked at him eye to eye (stretching your neck incredibly so you could see because he was a tower compared to you), and pressed little kisses to his lips, "thank you my love, sorry for bringing the mood down", you apologised. "Who said the mood is down and, most importantly, that I am finished, miss Y/L/N?", he said moving the both you you to the bedroom section, making you lay on the bed, "I plan on spending the rest of my evening here, complimenting you and showering you with affection if you'll let me. Besides, you looked so good in that dress today, my love, I've been thinking of all there was underneath it since I saw you put it on this morning. And I think that's a fair prize for a podium winner, right?", he said as he peppered kisses along your face, neck and chest, "let me show my beautifull girlfriend how much she means to me", continuing his ministrations on your skin.
Little note: you're beautiful and amazing, smart in your own away, don't let anyone bring you down 🤍

Don't Blame Me 2.0 | Sneak Peak
Tumblr media
So here's just a little sneak peak of my re write of Don't Blame Me. I've been wanting to revisit this for a while. I will post the rest of it in one go probably on Ao3 for ease but here's just a little peak of some of the extended stuff I'm doing. This is probably chapter 1 or 2. I haven't decided the order yet. It is 100% new material and I hope it gives a good example of what the rest of the re write is gonna be. Hope you enjoy 💕
Word Count: 2k
Tumblr media
Nina stared up at the ceiling. It was ugly. Grayish plaster smeared across to form a minuscule mountain range. She was angry at them with their manmade topography. She wanted to climb up and scrape them smooth. She wanted to destroy something without consequence.
The bed in the safe house was too hard and the covers were too thin. Made it impossible to sleep and yet she’d spent the past three days laying in it. She missed the warm comfort of her old bed, layers of wool blankets and a fluffy down mattress. She missed the feathers that poked her in the middle of the night.
Kyle, sat guard by the door - rifle in hand. The curtains always drawn close. She’d long lost track of time, only gauging when offered food. Shopping bags laid scattered across the floor. Price had bought clothes, guessing her size and getting it wrong most of the time. She’d finally asked for something warm and big.
He’d come back with a large navy sweatshirt and grey sweatpants. They were nice and soft and the sweatshirt was large enough she could tuck her knees inside of it and pull her hands into the sleeves. A small comfort.
She didn’t like it here but she wasn’t given a choice. Hunted like an animal across countries and continents. All because of her father. Some people may be attached together with red string but he was the rope around her neck.
The house somehow felt more sterile than the hospital they had her at initially. She didn’t like it there either with doctors and nurses constantly prodding her. Taking blood for various tests, physical exams where she was expected to strip for strangers. Their hands were always cold.
A week ago she hadn’t even seen another person in years and now she didn’t think any part of her had gone untouched. She’d fought and screamed every time they pulled another needle out. They’d had to sedate her after she kicked a nurse in the shoulder and almost knocked her over. Price stepped in at that point and refused to let them do any more tests or exams until she’d relaxed. She never got the chance.
She woke up to a man forcing his way into the room. Kyle dragged her out of bed and into a corner, ripping an IV out of her arm. Price had met the man at the threshold. The intruder got one good hit in before Price slammed his head into the door.
Her stomach flipped, hearing his skull crack. Death wasn’t an unfamiliar face but she ached having seen him so often recently. How many just in the past week? She’d lost count. Blood dripped down the door, like a bug that got squished.
Kyle was holding her arm, bandaging where the IV got ripped out.
“We’re moving her.” Price said. “Now!”
Kyle scooped her up easily, carrying her bridal style, down the halls and stairs of the hospital.
“Kate, I need a safe house.” Price barked into a radio. Nina clung to Kyle, letting herself get carried away once again. It had been futile to fight previously so she allowed it now. She also didn’t want to complain about not walking across the parking deck barefoot.
Price drove while Kyle sat in the back, having her lay down on the seats next to him. She stayed quiet, she was good at that. Quiet and surviving. They drove what felt like hours around London in order to lose any possible tails. Eventually Price pulled into an underground parking deck and they switched cars.
The Russian was driving this time, she believed his name was Nik. A large white utility van. She sat with her back against the side. Her feet were cold. Kyle and Price flanked her. She felt like she should be wearing a black bag over her head.
It was dark when they got to the safe house. A coat was thrown over her head and she was kept bent over as they led her inside. Lights off until the blinds could be pulled shut.
“You should be safe here. Kyle will keep watch over ya,” Price assured, holding her shoulders. She was older than he was when they last saw each other. A stranger but the only person on Earth who seemed to remember her name.  A friend of her father’s, his sergeant. He’d stop by their on base house often enough to be a familiar face. He got her a birthday gift once or twice. He’d had dinner with her family. She felt ashamed to say she hadn’t thought about him in years yet there he was at the edge of the world to hold her on the helicopter ride home. “How are you feeling Nina?”
“I’m okay.” What else was there to say? It felt like the ground was constantly collapsing under her and she was treading ice water. “I’m tired.”
“Let’s get the bedroom set up for you.” He rubbed her back as he led her upstairs. She waited in the hall as he checked over the room and pulled the blinds shut. She was glad they left her alone to sleep, even if one of them was always outside the cracked open door. She’d barely left the bed since. Kyle had moved a chair in at one point.
“Just keeping you company.” He smiled. She imagined the true reason was so he could stop her if she tried to kill herself. There was a reason she had to ask for any pain medication, there were no knives in the kitchen and the sweatpants came without strings. Truthfully she didn’t have the motivation for all that.
She thought about taking another shower or maybe a bath. Hot water on demand was another comfort. Something she’d missed.
She got up wordlessly and walked into the ensuite bathroom. Bottles, jars and tubes also scattered across the counter. Kyle had explained what it all did. Moisturiser, cleanser, masks and other words she didn’t remember. She slathered it all on anyway. It did make her skin feel less tight. If it made a physical difference, she wouldn’t know. The mirror was gone.
Kyle had taken it off the wall the day before. She’d needed his help turning on the water. Her reflection frightened her. She knew she was older, a woman of twenty five. She still expected to see a little girl staring back at her. In a way there was, how small she looked. How starved she looked. She didn’t like her skin or hair or her face at all really. Price had remarked how much she looked like her mother. She couldn’t even hold her face in her mind. She knew that she never looked sick like this. As tattered and forgotten.
She’d hung a towel over the edges of the mirror. Kyle took it down and she put it back up. He seemed to understand and it was laid in the hallway facing the wall the next morning.
She filled the tub with steaming water and squirted some soap into it. She wasn’t allowed to lock the door so she left it cracked to let the steam out. She sunk down till her nose barely scraped the water’s edge. She soaked until the bubbles all popped and disappeared and her skin was pruned.
There was a knock on the door.
“The captain is going to be back soon with food,” Kyle broke the hours-long silence. He was extraordinarily kind to her despite having not said more than a couple words to him over the past days. “He asked if there’s anything else you want or need.”
“I’m okay,” she said. She didn’t know what she needed or wanted. Everything seemed like a distant dream, half real. She thought about the things she ate as a child and wondered what was real and what was some elaborate coping daydream. It all just seemed out of her grasp.
“…Nina?” He asked. It still felt weird to hear people say her name aloud. It was something she had kept like a secret for so long. “Do you like cake?”
She could hear the smile in his voice. She didn’t remember the last time she had cake. Her 11th birthday maybe.
“I can have Price pick some up for you. I’d say you deserve it.”
“I’d like that…thank you, Kyle.”
“I’ll text him.”
Price arrived a little less than an hour later. She was back in bed, wearing the same sweatshirt and pants. Kyle had shown her how to work the telly. There was nothing familiar on.
Price had given up on getting her to eat anywhere but her bed, bringing up the food with a tray.
“Thank you,” She said as he laid a plate of lamb, rice and veggies in front of her. The three of them ate in silence as she periodically flipped through the channels on the telly.
“What day is it?” she asked as another holiday ad came on.
“December sixteenth,” Kyle answered around a bite of lamb.
She didn’t realise Christmas was so close. She changed the channel again, wanting to avoid any possibility of raising hope.
“Gaz, take the dishes downstairs. I need to talk to Nina.” Price said as they finished eating. She thanked Kyle as he took her plate and pulled her knees to her chest.
Price had a serious look on his face, more serious than usual.
“We have to move you again.” He said. She nodded, chewing on the idea of having to leave again.
“Why?”
“My contact in M16 believes there’s a leak and you’re at risk again. They shouldn’t have known what hospital you were in.” He sat down on the edge of the bed. “These men are dangerous, Nina. They believe you know where your father is.”
“I don’t.”
“I know you don’t, love. We’re working on tracking them down but until we do you need to be kept safe. You’re going to the United States tomorrow afternoon.”
“The United States? Why all the way there?”
“It’ll be easier to hide you. You’ll be under cover, new name, travelling with one of my mine.”
“Kyle?”
“No, unfortunately I need him here.”
“Then who?” She wasn’t sure if she trusted anyone else. She wasn’t even sure if she could trust Price.
“His name is John.”
“Your name is John.”
“Different John.” He chuckled. “MacTavish. A scot. He’ll look after you.” He patted her shoulder. “Get some rest. We’ll talk more tomorrow.”
“Price?”
“Yes, love?”
“Will I ever be safe?”
He laid his hands on her shoulders and got eye level with her.
“I will make you safe.” He said firmly, like he believed it to be true. “Try to get some sleep. Lots to brief on tomorrow.”
The idea of having to move again twisted her stomach. More helicopters? More high speed chases down mountain roads? More bullets whizzing by? Her hands were shaking already. She pulled her arms into her sweatshirt and scratched at them. Every red line was a release of tension in her body. Another strange man who’s side she would be tucked into. She knew Price wouldn’t put her with someone who would hurt her, at least not knowingly.
There was a knock on the door.
“Nina? Can I come in?” Kyle asked.
“Uh…yeah…you can.” She pushed her arms back through her sleeves. He was smiling as he came in. A pastry box and fork in hand.
“Price says you need protein but cake has eggs so I think it counts.” He handed her the box. She laid it in her lap and opened it. It was a small chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and cadbury flakes on top. Her mouth watered. She wanted to feel the sugar grit against her teeth.
“Thank you, Kyle.” She said, holding the box close. There was a time when she was younger and she used to close her eyes and imagine a great big party with cake and balloons and streamers and friends and her family. She held onto that fantasy for a long time. She hoped the cake tasted as good as it did in her head.
“Eat it all if you want but don’t get sick, yeah?” He handed her the fork before going to leave. “Soap’s a decent bloke. He’ll take care of you.”
What a stupid nickname, she thought as she stabbed her fork into the centre of the cake and dug out a chunk.
It was better than she imagined.

OK SO EPISODE 11: TRAUMA GOT ME LOSING MY MIND TONIGHT READ BELOW TO SEE MY THOUGHTS
Shou and touichiro seemed pretty much the same except for two things. 1) touichiro's vision of Shou and his wife which was just... So good... The way that the coloring paralleled his vision of his wife in season 2 has me 😭 2) the other one I noticed was the double charge bomb they did together. This could have been in the manga and I just didn't remember it, but I'm pretty sure that's anime original and I am LIVING for it. Shou's trump card which he originally used to try and bring down his dad is now being used in tandem with his dad to help someone. It's so so good. (What's NOT so good is Shou's outfit, why is bones so determined to slander his sense of fashion?? But that's a post for another day lol)
(for an episode titled "trauma" it was rather hopeful in the end. Wonder if that has any sort of thematic meaning)
first, all the changes. I really adored all the build up they gave ritsu. His arrival was a bit abrupt in the manga, and I will forever love bones for not only having ritsu find the crash sight, but also find and take care of Teru. Literally yesterday I was thinking about how sad it is that Teru just gets left naked and hurt in the middle of the road, so that was very very nice.
Back to more Ritsu changes since I'm following the episode's progression of scenes! I really miss the "man this is overkill" line. I know it doesn't fit the tone but it was just really funny ok?
Tumblr media
But for some bigger changes, I noticed they took out the rhubarb wire that Ritsu saved a body improvement club member from. Which is interesting, I wonder if that's because of change of setting or censorship concerns.
Tumblr media
They also took out a lot of the implications of Ritsu's plan later in the fight. In the anime, he said something along the lines of "a big shock might stop nii-san" whereas in the manga...
Tumblr media
Yeah, he basically flat out says "maybe if I get hurt nii-san will snap out of it" which hoooo boy sure is a line of dialogue.
The final change I noticed was between the two "Mob" and "Shigeo", mainly in the art. I LOVE how they're doing it, with Shigeo being a blank white outline and Mob having blue lineart. It really helps differentiate them and make them pop. Super cool.
Now, do I miss some of the manga content and am I sad to see it go? Yes. But did bones do an utterly incredible job at adapting this? YES!!! so even if i don't like some of the changes, I like some of the other changes, and I love it overall.
As for overall hype:
OH MY GOSH 100% RITSU IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT AND BOY DID IT DELIVER I AM FROTHING AT THE MOUTH I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS
Also all of the parallels to previous things like having their fight on the bridge where mogami world Ritsu ignored him is spectacular. And the whole "I'm your little brother so let me help you" paralleling mobs "in your older brother, so I have to take care of you". And the music being the same as their original fight in the alleyway. I can't even...
SHOU CONTENT!!!! YES!!!! I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW HYPED I AM TO SEE MY BELOVED
Studio bones really just adores the super five huh? Hatori is still here lol and Joseph too
REIGEN AND SERIZAWA JUST SPRINTING PAST THE POLICE AKFJSKFKR YES THAT WAS SO GOOD
Tsubomi please move out of the way of the active tornado this is not a safe place my girl (and what an interesting character choice for her to wait, Tsubomi is such an enigma in all the best ways)
Oh rip to sakuri and koyama, you did your best. (Side note, imagine your ex CEO falling from the sky to duke it out with a magic middle schooler who just destroyed your workplace. Seasoning city is so wild lol)
Random side characters getting one frame my beloved! Minori moment!! Tokugawa and Shinji moment!!
In conclusion, episode 11 makes me lose my marbles and it was 100% worth the wait!

Review: Angel's Feather (Blue Impact)
Years after watching the Angel's Feather OVAs I finally decided to try the visual novel, and it's... pretty good, I wonder why I never tried playing it before? Angel's Feather was released in 2003 by Blue Impact, the BL branch of Studio e.go. There's also PS2 port, but this review is about the PC version only!
Synopsis
A clan of people with white wings lived in a land far away from the human world. Peaceful times suddenly came to an end when a mutation caused individuals with black wings to be born. Those with black wings were also able to use magic, which was eventually used to take over the kingdom of the white-winged clan, who didn't have the ability to use magic.
Meanwhile in the human world, Shou Hamura, the winner of the national kendo championship, is transferred to an all-boys private school. He soon realizes his younger twin brother Kai also studies there, though he doesn't seem to remember him. Soon after his enrollment, a series of strange events take place within the school, and black-winged individuals start attacking Shou and his friends.
Tumblr media
Visual novel elements What is pretty unique about this game is that the visual novel parts of the game often let you pick which character you want to play as. At first you can only play as the protagonist Shou, but after that you can also pick Anri, Kurisu (…should I just call him Chris?) and eventually Kai. Because of this, it's also possible to pair up almost every character with whoever you want. Later two other characters, Shion and Sena also join the team.
Even though there are a lot of romance options, the game is very story-heavy and pretty much all romance is optional. I do think it's impossible to unlock all romance scenes in a single playthrough because even if you re-load your saves, some scenes later in the game won't unlock if your character hasn't previously interacted with them. To unlock all CGs, you probably need to re-play the game many times which might get a bit… tedious, so I recommend just picking a pairing you like in advance.
Tumblr media
I do personally think it's not necessary to unlock all these scenes because most of them are short and the r18 scenes also aren't voiced. I'm not sure if that's always the case, but I applied the 18+ patch and those were the only scenes that weren't voiced (the game's all ages, but they did release an official patch which adds NSFW scenes).
Which reminds me... because the system is rather old, there really aren't a lot of save slots either. When you load your saves, they often make you replay the entire scene rather than the exact location you saved at. It wasn't a big problem, but it just surprised me a little bit.
Tumblr media
RPG-like elements Like other older BL visual novels such as Ouji-sama Lv1 and Teikoku Sensenki, this game combines the usual visual novel gameplay with RPG elements. Occasionally you'll be able to walk around the school, but it's only limited to a few specific areas. Almost all enemies in the game are random encounters, making it impossible to avoid them unless you run away. I do recommend fighting them because they drop useful items and it's also easy to level up. Especially during the second part of the game, you'll spend a lot more time walking around and fighting enemies, so these items and experience points will be useful later.
The game doesn't really explain how the gems, elements, or even items work, but to be honest the gameplay was not super difficult so I didn't have much trouble finishing the game, even if I admittedly had no idea what I was doing sometimes. Also, most boss battles aren't ridiculously hard and they usually only know a few different attacks.
Tumblr media
Plot and overall impression The game mostly focuses on battling the black winged characters and discovering why there's a conflict between the white winged clan and the black winged clan. There are not that many big plot twists, but it's a pretty fun fantasy story and I enjoyed playing it! Sometimes I was a bit confused if the main characters even knew they were part of the white winged clan, because they suddenly grew wings but didn't always… seem surprised by it?
There are several side characters in this game who have pretty well-developed personalities too, so I had fun trying all kinds of choices and talking to different characters. I'm also a big fan of older BL game artstyles, which is another reason why I wanted to try playing this game. When I looked at the artbook and some of the extra content the company released, I learned that all the art was originally hand-drawn and later scanned to turn them into the game CGs, which I thought was really cool.
I also had a bit of trouble with the in-game music because the noDVD patch somehow removed all of the background music. So if you can, I recommend not using this patch (you can either insert the DVD disc or use a tool like Daemon Tools to mount the ISO file before you play), because the soundtrack is also pretty good!
Kohaku no Hitomi The game also has a shorter sequel game, which takes place after the events of the main game. It's split into two different chapters, with the first one focusing on a new character called Kaoru, who's the child of the family that used to live next to Shou's family.
Chapter 1: This part mostly consists of the RPG-like gameplay style, until you beat the final boss. The battle system is mostly the same, but it does look a bit different this time. Instead of the pixel art they used in the first game, this time they used sprites for the main characters and the enemies. You can also only use 3 characters at the time, but you can switch them out anytime. All characters still gain experience points even if they're not in the team you're using. I must admit, the first part of this game is a bit... grindy, you have to visit 6 different areas and the level of the enemies increases quite drastically sometimes.
Tumblr media
Chapter 2: After fighting the final boss of the story, the characters all return to their school. This part of the game is just normal visual novel gameplay and you can choose which characters you want to hang out with during the school festival. The plot isn't super serious, but I thought it was pretty fun! This time it's pretty easy to unlock all kinds of different scenes with all the characters, so it's easier to check out different pairings. There's some pretty funny scenes, for example the characters reenacting Romeo and Juliet, or a scene in which you can pick which character crossdresses.
Tumblr media
In my opinion playing the second game is completely optional, the new character did have a lot of backstory but it's also nothing too different than what the characters in the first game experienced. The second part of the game was my favorite because there's a lot of funny scenes I enjoyed. There was actually also supposed to be a third Angel's Feather game, but unfortunately the staff left the company and no information about it was ever posted again.
Overall, I had lot of fun playing both games! I watched the OVAs a long time ago and had no idea what was going on, so it was really interesting to finally play the games 10 years later. The OVA added characters that aren't in the original game and also suddenly ends after only a few episodes, so I'm not surprised it made absolutely no sense to me back then. The games are unfortunately only available in Japanese, but you can use machine translation tools like Textractor if you really want to play!

Hey so I saw your post requesting asks about Wingfeather headcanons, and I just finished reading the Warden and the Wolf King for the first time last night (😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️) so I gotta know- what are your headcanons about the epilogue- ie. if they did bring Janner back, and what would happen after?
Also, do you have any headcanons about young Artham and Esben, before Anniera fell?
Thank you! 😊
Hello!
Alright first of all, the ending of TWatWK was... a lot emotions. I definitely understand how you're feeling about it lol.
Now, on to the headcannons, personally, I think they did manage to revive Janner. Or, maybe a more accurate description would be the Maker allowed Janner to come back and the family just like poured the First Well water on him and stuff. To me, Janner's revival seems like it would be a very Maker-involved thing, considering he (The Maker) created the First Well and is the reason it has healing powers and is basically part of what keeps Aerwiar alive (or maybe that's the Holoré and Holóel, not sure). Basically yes, I do believe Janner was revived, although I do have an au where he was not.
On to your second question, I'm pretty sure that after the Wingfeathers get back to Anneira, they almost immediately started rebuilding the castle and towns and stuff. I also think they would spend a lot of time together, going on picnics and exploring ( Aurundelle, Sara, and Leeli's dogs in tow).
They would also spend time together just to talk and mend relationships, because let's face it, the Wingfeathers need a lot of that family therapy. I'm also thinking about Artham and Nia forgiving each other, because their relationship has a few... issues (referring to Nia's treatment of Artham in Glipwood, by not standing up for him against Podo more often, when she clearly can and has)
I truly think those two could've done so much better (and still can) if Nia had just taken Artham in and they actually talked and helped each other with their grief about Esben's death (both when he was thought to be dead and when he actually did), because, while the kids certainly have a lot sadness about Esben's death, I have a feeling Artham and Nia had it much worse, Artham with his nearly decade-long guilt about leaving Esben and knowing exactly where he was yet never telling anyone, while dealing with a ton of mental issues and literally wanting to die, and Nia with loosing Esben twice and having basically no one who could understand to talk to about it. Not to mention Nia's kids were literally being hunted and the Hollows were under attack 24/7, I can't imagine how much it must've been for her with all of that going on at the same time. Writing this paragraph makes me realize just how much those two went through, and I honestly get sadder about it all the time.
Alright, on to your third question, Artham and Esben pre-war were definitely absolute little gremlins. It's basically canon. I mean, those two pulled pranks, were completely unreasonable in fights about food and boats (they literally raced across an entire island just to get a chance with the boat that Esben really liked, all because they couldn't agree who should have the last bowl of soup. Seriously, what the heck was that supposed to be lol). While they would totally be the Kings of Pranks (pardon me, the King and Throne Warden of Pranks) I think they were also besties and you could talk to them about anything, and they would just sit and listen while offering a few words of advice and stuff. I'm gonna cry thinking about it.
Also, I'm pretty sure in one of the books it said that while they were ruling (technically the rulers would be Esben and Nia, but I'm pretty sure the previous High King/Queen's other children would have a higher level of power than in just any other kingdom ((especially the Throne Warden))) it was like, one of Anneira's golden ages or something, so they also had to have been extremely kind and empathetic, while also clear about what rules where in place and should stay in place, and also strategic and stuff like that.
Ok, this is probably the longest post I've ever written, I sort of just read your ask and ran with it lol. Thank you so much for the ask! I loved reading it and thinking about how to answer. :)

I made an abot teru-centric conspiracy theory board/mindmap! (Click it!) also I beat my old record of 86 bubbles, this one is 158! B^)
Fic: a breach of trust by @phantomrose96
while the details are (probably) accurate (and cited B^) ), my theories were fun to make up doesn't matter if im right ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, I may be the only one who can follow along cuz I made it (and also the image maybe not big enough), but if you wanna try then here's some guides and extra notes:
1) main bubbles are the light blue ones followed by bright yellow ones. (Canon parallels) is the exact middle.
2) blueish purplish bubbles are the ones about mp100 canon while yellow greenish bubbles are the abot ones
3) I did make a step by step guide and summary-ish but I think its better to keep my secrets for now and see how others read it (also cause I wanted this post to be short)
4) i squeezed in some non-teru stuff , ex. the (bear) branch is about ritsu
5) in the abot dimple branch with possibilities to what happened to him includes Chrissy saying she forgot him. Here's citation to that
6) for the (teru teru bozu) branch I've connected the reference in canon to abot teru telling ritsu "how's the weather up there?" while he's hanging upside down in ch31
7) in the (self sacrifice) section I've connected canon confession arc touichirou "leading by example" to shou while attempting self sacrifice vs omake ritsu joking that reigen being in front of him during exorcisms will help him learn () vs here's Chrissy's post about abot reigen "leading by example" telling ritsu not to sacrifice himself then trying to sacrifice himself.
8) I remember "arrow" being mentioned during a teru action scene but I'm not sure if it was a metaphor or a reference to Terada's fighting style and don't remember which chapter to check. If anyone knows tell me and ill give you a cookie.
9) tag your favourite part mine is my very serious analysis of the spirit ecosystem and how mogami kidnapping mob to absorb his powers instead of sticking to relying on absorbing spirits possibly had a butterfly effect on abot dimple and thats why he's not in the fic B^) - no actually i change my mind my favourite part is where I yell about teru avoiding ritsus questions about claw back in ch17 because this mindmap would've been alot smaller if he just answered them but nooo

something about lin lie's identity always revolving around violence but being kind anyways
i doubt I'd call him a pacifist but i like that he is a sword that always finds ways to be a shield you know. pan is built on selfishness but in that time he decides to spend it talking to civilians and helping them rebuild He asks why the agents are talking behind each other's backs if they're friends He chooses to check on white fox and reassure her he dives In Front of a demon for her and tries to snap her out of her hallucination and he takes shou-lao's heart by asking for it because he doesn't want to kill it he never wants to kill not really
like when he fights lin feng he aims for the shoulder, when he sees excessive violence he cringes and cries, when he kills demons he does it quick and i could get into whether or not i think that would weigh on his mind at all but the short answer is no. but it's fun to explore
I'm also not sure i can say it's an act of selflessness because I'm not sure if it is. "i don't want to kill gods because i want to go home" "i don't want to take shou-lao's heart because he's my friend and I'd feel bad" "I'm only helping you because i thought this would bring me closer to finding chiyou" all real quotes he's said (albeit super paraphrased) like he's avoiding violence but he's not directly trying to protect either. a reluctant sword that becomes a shield by accident or whatever.
This also doesn't mean he's Only saving people because it's the opposite of killing it's just. ugh i don't know anymore lin lie is the most selfishly selfless character i can truly articulate into words about vaguely why i like him but i think sam falls into this category too seeing as he has an entire conversation about being selfish. maybe that's why i like them both i don't know

god guys imagine if Ritsu learned how to steal psychic energy from other ESPers
he couldn't use it himself but if he autism stared at an opponent for long enough their aura would start to flicker and get dim and if he was fighting teamed-up with Shige or Teru or Shou or anybody else who could actually hold their own against someone really powerful then they would be unstoppable.
I'm thinking Dimple could probably help him figure it out, because he's a spirit and when he possesses someone it lets him take hold of their powers right. so if Ritsu runs into somebody he can't handle, it's less an issue of 'run run run now' and more one of him using his 'talk about the weather with anyone' powers until the other person can't overpower him anymore, and he can get reinforcements or get away. seems like an ideal strategy both for him and for the other psychic kids
that said it also seems like one of those skills like teleportation or spirit telepathy that you might not just be able to learn

Can you please make a very long speech post about Isekai? I want to learn about its history and it’s first appearance related to the modern-day definition in any culture. Please? For me.
Well... Alright, since people are interested in it.
Isekai quite literally means: Another World.
It comfortably sit in between Portal Fiction, Fantasy and Science fiction, in terms of genre, and it's its own thing.
So, Isekai does have roots in ancient mythology.
Namely the myth Urashima Tarō, whch involves a fisher man saving a turtle and getting wisked away into, well, a heavenly space (or another world.), before returning and dying. Fun stuff.
But it's easier to look towards Portal Fiction as being the starting point, because it includes... well, portals to another world.
Portal fantasy is when a character crosses into another world through a portal of some kind. (Often leading to a fantasy world.) The big distinction between Portal fantasy and Isekai, at least to me, is that in Portal fiction, the character who crosses into this other world will always go home at the end of the story . But in Isekai, the main character will always stay in the fantasy world.
(It's been argued that having a coming of age narrative is also vital to the Portal Fantasy genre, but I'm being more simplistic just so it's easier to understand).
Basicly, think of Inuyasha. The Kagome goes through the well to feudal Japan, have adventures, and then returns to the real world through the very same well. Other examples include Alice in Wonderland, Caroline, and The Wizard of Oz.
Now, All that being said, that's just backstory. There are elements we associate with Isekai, but it isn't Isekai.
That actual FIRST isekai novel, that has elements of what we know of as Isekai today, comes from:
Isekai no Yūsha (Warrior from Another World )
Tumblr media
Look, Isekai is in the title and everything!
It's a short fantasy novel about a high-schooler named Ryoji, who's summoned to take up a magic sword and fight against the demon king Gandar Boa.
The Book is out of print, and information on it is rather scarce. However, I do know it came out in 1979,making it one of the earliest examples of modern day Isekai…. I think.
Okay, look, I haven't read it, it's never been published outside of Japan, and it's name is so generic that it's hard to find much about it. But multiple sources told me it was the first notable example, so I'm rolling with it.
But I know what your asking. What about the first Isekai anime? Well, I've got you covered on that.
The first Isekai anime is
Aura Battler Dunbine (1983)
Tumblr media
The Summary, that I totally did not just steal from My Anime list, goes as follows:
Shou Zama is an ordinary 18-year-old from Tokyo who finds himself summoned to the medieval fantasy world of Byston Well. Upon arrival, he is put into service under the ambitious lord Drake Luft, who seeks to greatly expand his power. Those like Shou who come from "Upper Earth" possess strong aura power and are ordered to pilot "Aura Battlers," insectoid mecha designed by a man named Shot Weapon, who also came from Upper Earth.
As Shou finds himself fighting alongside his new comrades, they put their lives on the line to prevent the villain from taking over Byston Well before it's too late.
Mechs, fantasy, special powers only people from our world possess? Can't be any more anime than that!
It ticks a lot of the boxes that we tend to expect from most Isekai anime, but it is missing one thing. Where's the video game mechanics? Where's the video game worlds?
Well don't, I've got you covered. The first Isekai with video games being a proud feature is:
Super Mario Bros: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! (1986)
youtube
(For those who want to watch it in beautiful 4k)
Yes, that's right. Mario got there first.
The Mario Bros. get sucked into their Famicom game, and must now rescue Princess Peach from King Bowser Koppa.
This Mario Film is notable for being one of the earliest Isekai to involve a video game world, and mild usage of video game mechanics.
For more information, I would highly recomend this video here:
youtube
For Mother's basement, as he goes a lot more in depth then I could in a blog post.
But yeah, that's my Isekai speal. I hope you enjoy it.
