Sick Son- Alisson

"Daddy!" your son, Otto, yelled out for the hundredth time that night. Ali groaned as he began to sit up, "No Ali I'll go you went last time, get some sleep." you whisper, slowly getting up and sauntering over to your son's room.

"I wanted Daddy, not you Mummy, you make me have that drink. The one that tastes really really bad." Otto babbled when he saw you enter the room. "I know baby but Daddy is tired, and you need to have the drink to make you better." You carefully sit on the edge of his bed and put your hand on his forehead to check his temperature.

"Will I still be able to play with Joey tomorrow?" he asks, cuddling his dinosaur plush tightly. "I don't know buddy, it depends on how you feel tomorrow." You lightly ruffle his fluffy, dark brown hair and smother his forehead with kisses. "Yuck, that is gross Mummy." he sniffled, wiping his forehead.

You reach out to grab the Calpol and fill the syringe to 2.5ml. "You're not going to like this bud, but you need to have some more." He turns to face the wall, "I'm not having anymore Mummy!" he insists. You see as the door pushes open and Ali makes his way to the bed, "Maybe you'd like some more of Daddy's special hot chocolate." he says, causing Otto to jolt around, "Yes please Daddy, you make the best hot chocolate."

Ali winks at you and chuckles before leaving, you mouth a thanks and chuckle as well- knowing the secret ingredient was a dissolved paracetamol. Otto yawns and lightly taps your arm, "Yes?" you say whipping your head around to refocus on the toddler. "After hot chocolate, can Daddy read me my dinosaur book? Rexy loves when Daddy reads it to us." He asked showing you the plush.

"You'll have to ask him, won't you?" you point out and he nods, sitting up in bed. "One hot chocolate coming up for my special little man," Ali uttered softly, cautiously passing the drink over to his son. "You had something to ask Daddy didn't you?" you remind him, whilst he sips the hot drink in his hands. He gasps and quickly puts the drink down on the bedside table. "Can you read me and Rexy our bedtime story?" he asks, you raise your eyebrows at him, "Pretty please?" he adds after seeing your face.

"Since you were so polite I don't see why not." he picks out Otto's dinosaur book and gestures that you can leave the room now. You kiss Otto goodnight and tell him you love him, before you lift yourself off the bed and into Ali's open arms, "See you in a minute love." he remarks, before giving you a short but passionate kiss. "Yuck," your son said again. Ali chuckled, "I love you." he muttered. "I love you more," you utter to him leaving the room.

You lay alone in bed for upwards of 20 minutes and begin to feel heavy concern. So you tiptoe back to your son's room and push the door ajar, when you do this you smile as you see your husband asleep with Otto wrapped in his arms. You take a photo before closing the door and heading off to sleep yourself.
