This is incorrect. I'm not even on her side be she said she believes Johnny was abusive too. What she said against Amber was that she lied under oath about hitting Johnny when there was audio of her admitting to hitting him.
I'm not trying to defend TIAC but your followers can at least tell the truth.
So one thing you should know about me is that I do not believe in the "perfect victim". Victims often get violent right back. That does not equal mutual abuse. Mutual abuse is not a thing.
I want you to look at this timeline here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-26/johnny-depp-v-amber-heard-timeline-defamation-domestic-violence/101098658
This feed has another excellent overview, complete with Depp admitting and apologizing for being violent with Heard and also having it confirmed by his assistant: https://twitter.com/drugproblem/status/1517264284195033088
Good article from the New Yorker: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/cultural-comment/the-johnny-depp-amber-heard-trial-is-not-as-complicated-as-you-may-think
How we failed Amber Heard: https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7vm3b/weve-all-failed-amber-heard
The myth of the perfect victim: https://time.com/6183505/amber-heard-perfect-victim-myth-johnny-depp/
I need my followers to understand that a victim of domestic violence SNAPPING and getting violent right back does not make them an abuser. I need them to understand power dynamics--how Johnny Depp had far more money, fame, and more social clout than Amber Heard and used this to his advantage. How he was physically larger and older than she was. How yes, women can be abusers--you all KNOW mine was--but it happens when the power dynamics are flipped and that is absolutely not the case here.
Much like Woody Allen was able to manipulate the public into turning on Mia Farrow, Depp did the same to Amber. And it worked. People were making TikTok skits of Amber Heard's sexual assault testimony. Depp WANTED it publicized, wanted her shamed and humiliated.
Along with several feminist scholars, writers, and advocates, I support Amber Heard: https://amberopenletter.com/
What she went through--the media frenzy and public vilification of her last summer? I did hours of research on it, because it went part and parcel with my thesis on Joy Davidman and how her abuse allegations were dismissed. The Amber Heard phenomenon, I believe, is a direct backlash against the #MeToo movement and we haven't even gotten started on the damage it's going to do for domestic violence victims.

people are really in MIA FARROWS tweets telling MIA FARROW that the more powerful older man in the d*pp v heard trial is the victim. once again they are telling woody allen’s ex-wife and mother of dylan farrow that the more powerful, influential hollywood a-lister is actually the abuser. wild. completely disconnected from reality.

For years I've been trying to articulate how "if you don't have x experience, you'll never understand, so it's okay if you don't get why z is how you should react to a situation, Just Do It" is a really harmful standard to set for would-be allies to any group, and I think the D*pp v. Heard case is a really demonstrative case study.
You can't just take "believe every allegation" without understanding the underlying principles & data that inform that slogan, because then you end up with people thinking "mutual abuse" is a thing, because they don't understand that they're saying "well maybe they BOTH completely subjugated each OTHER to the point where they had no agency." You can't just say "victims react in different ways" without researching WHY, because then you look at someone ACTIVELY GLOATING ABOUT SUBJUGATING, HUMILIATING, AND DENYING AGENCY TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING and go, "well, i've never been in that position, it would be insensitive to think that doesn't seem like someone reacting to their abuser." The fact that people are not a monolith should not be read as a signpost that no further info is needed: the next question that must be asked is WHY they are not a monolith.
As soon as you ask that, you don't NEED an article confirming that audio has been manipulated & released as propaganda to be suspicious of claims that one of the biggest stars on the planet who is also a cishet white guy has been under the thumb of an almost-unknown member of 2 marginalized groups half his age. You don't NEED to point out that this doesn't mean men can't be victims too, or that it doesn't mean women can't be abusers, for the same reason you don't NEED to point it out when talking about Dylan Farrow and Woody Allen: because it will be self-evident that those two facts have nothing to do with the facts of this case!

Woody Allen Received a Standing Ovation For His Film "Coupe de Chance While Facing Cancel Culture
Tumblr media
Woody Allen enchanted the audience at the Venice Film Festival this year with a three-minute-long standing ovation for his film Coupe de Chance (Stroke of Luck). Despite receiving an overwhelming response for his movie, protestors at the event didn't seem much impressed. The French film revolves around the unhappy wife of a millionaire and her illicit affair with an artist. Capturing betrayal, drama, and suspense, the film brought sheer gratification to most critics, receiving positive reviews and an ovation at the biggest movie event of the year. According to reports, the applause was so long that Allen had to cut the ovation off by walking out of the theater. The red carpet though, didn't treat him that well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoRJvejqGfw Many fans welcomed him warmly outside but then some protesters intruded, flashing their shirts with messages against 'rapists'. Social media can't seem to un-see the several notes and sheets of paper, scrutinizing the Venice Film Festival to give big prestigious spots for promotion to three filmmakers who were accused of sexually harassing women. One of them is Woody Allen! The 87-year-old director was accused by his adoptive daughter Dylan Farrow. Addressing these accusations in an interview, he called these rumors 'silly'. He further shared how there's no proof of these claims that came to light.  Apart from the scandals and Allen's reputation, Coupe de Chance holds a special place in the hearts of his admirers as he hinted how this project might be his last. He disclosed his concerns regarding financing films by saying: “I have so many ideas for films that I would be tempted to do it if it was easy to finance. But beyond that, I don’t know if I have the same verve to go out and spend a lot of time raising money." Completing his 50th film, attending the biggest film festival in the world with his family, and receiving solid reviews for his latest creation, we believe Allen is at a very good place in life. However, we do hope that he has more magic in store for us as we're all down to experience more of some feel-good cinema. Are you? Don't forget to let us know in the comments. Read the full article

feels very shit to actually reblog this post, given, but i wanted to say something enough to link. op is right but if the content in question is written by someone for purposes other than ‘to groom someone’ i don’t think you can equate them to pedophiles/child abusers? like, literally writing something with the intent to groom someone rather than creating or consuming material depicting someone’s actual abuse is very close. like, plotting murder vs committing it/aiding & abetting it.
but writing something not for that purpose is v much not a good or acceptable thing, but it also isn’t equivalent to child abuse, and it’s part of a broader culture about abuse/control of children & sexualisation of children (rape culture, patriarchy, etc) that’s being played out.
like. the weird sexualisation of lolita, romanticised teacher/student relationships, teenagers writing about sex or adults writing about childhood sexual experiences, there’s a whole continuum. anything that can legit be called cp is never going to be a good thing* (teenagers engaging in consensual relationships with others their own age and/or writing/etc on their own or with others their age (consensually) as self-exploration is the only real exception to this, afaict), or even an okay thing, but it’s also very societally common & lauded & it can take time to divest from those kind of attitudes. (see: the hollywood response to woody allen & roman polanski vs the response to dylan farrow.) it’s absolutely worth divesting of the attitudes that lead to those behaviours, but imo their existence/practice is not the same as engaging in child abuse (it’s part of a culture that legitimises and excuses it, but that culture is as broad as things like white supremacy & cisheteropatriarchy, it’s something you’re socialised into - technically so is abuse culture, but abuse has a direct recipient of harm & is a very specific choice to harm, writing outside of grooming doesn’t have a direct recipient of harm - if that writing is used by someone else to harm, that’s their choice & the writer is not as culpable as the groomer).
tbh the main reason i think it’s unhelpful to do so is that if you’re a teenager or even a young adult who’s ended up in a weird fandom consuming or creating content of a fucked-up ship - adult/teenager, incest, other abusive dynamics - whether bc you were groomed or just bc you ended up there, i don’t think deciding that those things are irredeemable or equivalent to child abuse is helping anyone. if anything it can be useful to pedophiles because it gives them the opportunity to be like ‘you’re just like us and we’re equals’ or ‘any abuse done to you doesn’t count because you’re one of us’.
*assuming we’re taking cp to mean ‘explicit material deliberately intended as sexually arousing & involving a child’, the definition can end up blurred to include ‘any tv drama featuring teenagers, memoirs about being sexually exploited as a child, teenagers talking about sexuality (or even romance) at all’, esp by right-wing/evangelical purity culture/abstinence forces who benefit from/promote the idea that it’s sexuality in & of itself that’s evil rather than abuse/exploitation (of children & others).

I know I'm a year late on finding out about this, but it was so heartbreaking to read. Lainie Kazan and Renee Taylor are women I grew up watching. Actually, they remind me so much of the women in my family. I'm so sorry they dealt with such a horrible man.

maybe I’m just a hater but after watching the Allen v farrow doc and the Victoria’s Secret doc I find it rlly suspicious that massive celebrities that were household names prior to doing a movie with Allen or walk/perform in a vs fashion show were unaware of the allegations against the men they were working for and wanted to work with said men to because they didn’t have a choice to

Filmmaker Woody Allen said on Tuesday that he will shoot a new movie in Paris this fall and that it might be his last after receiving outrage in Hollywood over a sexual assault claim made by his adopted daughter.
In a rare interview, Allen, 86, talked to actor Alec Baldwin about his life and latest book, "Zero Gravity," which is a compilation of humorous pieces.
"A lot of the thrill is gone," Allen said of filmmaking.
"When I used to do a film, it would go into a movie house all across the country. Now you do a movie and you get a couple weeks in a movie house, maybe six weeks or four weeks and then it goes right to streaming or pay-per-view ... it's not as enjoyable to me."
Regarding his upcoming film, which would be his 50th, Allen made no mention of it.
The four-time Oscar-winning director of comedies like "Annie Hall" and others has categorically refuted claims that he assaulted Dylan Farrow, his adopted daughter, in 1992.
After the #MeToo movement went viral in 2017 and brought new attention to sexual misconduct, many Hollywood executives and celebrities distanced themselves from Allen.
HBO revisited the allegation against Allen in the 2021 series "Allen v. Farrow."
The interview, which was live-streamed on Baldwin's Instagram page, did not address the subject; Baldwin has appeared in three of Allen's movies.
Regarding his upcoming interview, Baldwin stated on Instagram on Sunday that he had "ZERO INTEREST in anyone's judgments and sanctimonious posts."
In "Rust," Baldwin's last movie, a live round from a gun he was holding killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Baldwin claimed he did not pull the trigger and that the incident left him "heartbroken."

Alec Baldwin announces interview with Woody Allen
Tumblr media
Jun 27, 2022 10:01 IST Washington , June 27 (AF): Alec Baldwin has announced an interview with ace director Woody Allen, who has faced backlash after his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, claimed he sexually abused her as a child. As per Variety, That backlash was recently renewed with the 2021 release of HBO docuseries 'Allen v. Farrow,' in which his daughter Dylan and her mother Mia Farrow further detailed the allegations they first came forward with, in 1992. The interview between Baldwin and Allen will take place on Instagram live, on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET. "I love you, Woody. Instagram, I'm with Woody, Tuesday, 10:30. Be there," Baldwin said in a video post. Baldwin made the announcement on his Instagram profile on Sunday night, that read, "Let me preface this by stating that I have ZERO INTEREST in anyone's judgments and sanctimonious posts here. I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of beliefs and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else's speculation. If you believe that a trial should be conducted by way of an HBO documentary, that's your issue." 'Allen v. Farrow' included an unseen home video of 7-year-old Farrow talking about the alleged assault shortly after she claimed it had occurred. During the #MeToo movement, his 2019 film 'A Rainy Day in New York' was dropped by Amazon Studios, with Hachette Book Group refusing to publish his memoir. However, Allen had denied the allegations, and labeled them as "untrue and disgraceful" in a statement following the release of the docuseries, as per Variety. Baldwin has also been the subject of recent controversy. In October, he held a 'prop firearm' that shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza on the set of the film 'Rust.' The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office's investigation into the incident is ongoing, along with a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Hutchins' family against Baldwin, seven producers and other members from the crew of 'Rust.'
