Bit telling that for years and years evangelical religious extremists have been allowed on university campuses with their bullhorns and horrific imagery where they harass students into physical altercations and when students complain to the university’s administration they just shrug their shoulders citing freedom of speech but when those same tuition-paying students start protesting against war and genocide they call SWAT
the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
The whole Phoenix poker coding vs. Edgeworth chess coding thing gets me every time.
Like the contrast between the two games, how they way they’re played perfectly reflects each of their styles of law please god I need more ships that do this it’s so hyper specific tho
I understand that there have been talks about an Israeli invasion of Rafah and I understand how absolutely catastrophic that would be for what is potentially the most packed area in the world, but I just want to point out that it feels like everyone is anticipating with fear a potential assault on Rafah whereas attacks and airstrikes are already happening and in fact they never even stopped for over 6 months now.
Keep talking about Rafah and keep talking about Gaza. There are absolutely no "safe zones" in Gaza and there never have been.
"The Global North’s political economy relies on the oppression of the Global South in general and of Palestine in particular.
As academic and writer Patrick Higgins noted in late October: 'We’re seeing a blow against the US-led world system. Since, really post-World War II, but especially post-1970 or so, Israel has been the linchpin, the basket into which most of the American chips are put, in order to sustain broader control of West Asia.'
This historical reality places a profound obligation on those in the Global North who would seek to be in solidarity to seriously consider what strategies and tactics Palestinians are calling for in the struggle for liberation, sovereignty and safety.
Such calls to action do not include that we opine on Palestinians’ methods of resistance.
They do include that we understand the history and actuality of that resistance, do all we can to stop the ongoing provision of arms to the occupation, engage in boycott, divestment and sanctions, and fight back against the criminalization of those who support Palestine’s liberation from Zionist settler colonialism.
As Virginia Tech’s Bikrum Gill exhorted: 'Show no fear, no surrender, as you oppose those who support the US-Israeli genocide of Palestinians. Bring your institutions to crisis if their functioning requires silence or complicity.'
Hey everyone, please consider buying the 2024 itch.io Palestinian Relief Bundle- it's 373 games, game-making assets, tabletop roleplaying games, zines, and comics for a minimum of just 8 USD! They have a goal of 100,000 USD, and as of the time I'm writing this post, they have 8 more days to reach it.
The situation of the Congo Genocide is complicated because we are all implicated in it. We can’t ascribe it to a foreign policy state interest as we can regarding Palestine. It is something we, as consumers, all have a hand in and given the ubiquity of the resources involved, a lot of us are caught off of guard by this premonition of the type of wars to come. This is that nasty intersection of neo-colonialism and hyper capitalism that pits the Global South against the Global North. It’s a war of sustaining a way of life means imposing slavery and genocide on others. This is an instance of global capitalism and hyper consumption as a lifestyle and convenience is being pitted against the humanity of those we deem expendable.
Phoenix: *Gets Kristoph disbarred and on the hook for murder*
Kristoph: How could you do this to me?! How could you betray me?!
Phoenix: … i don’t know, the same way you did
Phoenix: You got me disbarred, and you lied to me about it for 7 years
Phoenix: So *shrugs* how did you do it? :/
Kristoph: … >:/
kristoph: "betray you? i didn't even know you, there was nothing to betray!"
and the thing is 4-1 is less of a betrayal and more like kristoph facing the consequences for his actions but he would still be SO bitter abt it.
he sees what phoenix did as more of a betrayal than what he did because, to him, phoenix just disregarded seven years of history between them. versus what he did which was just screw over a guy he didnt even know
Took a notebook outside to try to build in both sun into my day and get a jump on actually organizing my time as the day starts rather than only considering things it'd be good to "remember" for the next few days as I'm trying to fall asleep at like 1:30am...obviously I have written like a paragraph's worth and am now on my fucking phone, but yknow. I'm out here, I'm dressed before noon, I'm absorbing vitamin D and the breeze, it's probably a net win, especially because it's actually comfortable out right now.
And honestly, even if that wasn't true (which it is!), I'm FINALLY having my pelvic & transvaginal ultrasounds tmw, & my mom is driving me to & from, & i organized all that, so like: @ brain lay off yourself, you're doing pretty good actually.
I have a tentative grasp on what I'm wearing to the Chappell Roan concert and I'll tell you right now the reason you have not gotten a full body lesbian week of visibility pic from my high femme ass is that I'm gonna be the most visible bitch for years to come, COUNT ON IT
