Here are 11 US-based airlines that allow pets to fly in-cabin
Many of us wish we can take our pet with us everywhere we go and not to have to worry about leaving them behind when we travel. If it’s a nearby trip, perhaps you can pack your bags and your pet and simply travel by car. However, if it’s a long trip, that’s when it can be challenging to travel with your pets. Thankfully, there are plenty of airlines across the USA that allow you to bring your pet…

Question for Spirit or Allegiant travelers:
I got this City Backpack to use as my "personal item" to fly, and it's a little overlong by less than an inch. I figured "no biggie, I'm sure that inch can squish" but it's a padded laptop sleeve and oh, it doesn't. So are they gonna charge me/make me check it?

Allegiant Air Flight Booking Services
Allegiant makes it easy to book flights and find cheap fares on any sector the airlines flies. They can be booked online, or by calling the customer care number for Allegiant (+1 702 605 7205). Booking a flight through their mobile app is very convenient.
Tumblr media
Know more about Allegiant
Allegiant is a convenient airline that offers both scheduled and charter flights. They specialize in providing service to smaller cities, so you'll find them all over the US. This company is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and continues to operate out of the McCarran International Airport. Their focus city is also located in McCarran International Airport.
Unlike other U.S. carriers, Allegiant Airlines sells tickets exclusively on its website and over the phone, with no physical stores. This helps keep their costs down while they offer low fares to passengers.
Allegiant Air was founded in 1997 when Mitch Allee and Maury Gallagher got the idea to start their own airline. They launched service with two planes flying between six Midwest destinations. In 2001, Allegiant expanded into Las Vegas.
How to Allegiant Air Flight Booking?
You can search for your Allegiant Air flights by inputting the number of passengers, your departure city and arrival city. On the next page you'll see a list of available flights with their prices. If you see a flight that looks good, select it and continue to the next page where you'll be able to review your itinerary before finalizing your purchase.
A seat map will appear on the following page. Please select the seat(s) you would like and continue to the next page.
On the next page, please enter your name, email address and phone number. You will also need to create an account with Allegiant Air if you already have one. Once you have entered all of this information, take a look at it and make sure everything is correct for you. Then proceed to the next page.
This page summarizes your reservation and displays the price. Once you're satisfied, select Payment Method and fill in your credit card information to complete the reservation process. You'll receive an email from us once payment has been processed for all the details about your flights.
Flying with Allegiant Air
Allegiant Air is a budget airline, so you shouldn't expect the same level of service from them as from a traditional carrier. That said, Allegiant does offer a few extras that can make your flight more enjoyable.
If you're flying with Allegiant on a carry-on, remember that the airline has strict size limitations. You can put your personal items in the seat in front of you and keep anything else that is too big as a checked bag.
Allegiant flights are strictly carry-on, so if you want to bring your own drinks or food on, pack light. You won't be able to check bags for free, so be aware of the fee if you want to bring snacks or other items in your carry-on.
Things to know before making reservation
When you make booking for any airline, there are a few things you should always keep in mind. First, check the airline's website for updates or changes to their policies and procedures; this way, you can remain informed of any changes that may affect your travel plans. To avoid unpleasant surprises on the day of your flight, read over the baggage policy in full detail before you depart.
First, you'll need to book your flights. Allegiant Air offer direct and connecting flights, so be sure to select the option that best suits your needs when booking--especially if you're traveling with baggage.
When you make your reservation with Allegiant Air, be sure to input all of the necessary information - such as your contact information and payment details. If you accidentally enter incorrect or incomplete data, our system may not be able to process your reservation. Before you finalize your booking, follow these tips and recommendations to ensure that it's seamless and easy. Website: https://reword.direct

so @darlingofdots's awesome Temeraire!universe historian post mentioned the wreck of the HMS Allegiance and I have been thinking about where it is literally all day.
Not just where as in "somewhere in the South Pacific" (because duh) but also, specifically, how deep, and therefore how the wreck would be studied.
Because a lot of archaeologically significant shipwrecks are pretty shallow, since they're the wrecks we can dive to, either on normal air scuba tanks or mixed gas. The Uluburun shipwreck off Turkey, for example, sits between 44 and 61 meters deep, which is right on the edge for air diving. The archaeologists could only be at the bottom for 20 ish minutes at a time, two times per day, with careful decompression timing as they went up to avoid the bends and not-insignificant amounts of nitrogen narcosis at the bottom. Mixed gas goes deeper, 100 meters or so for some of the more available ones. (there's a Phoenician shipwreck off the coast of Malta that's about 110 meters deep, and was excavated by technical divers) Beyond that it's just commercial divers laying oil pipelines with the super $$$ gas at depths of up to 500 meters or so. Anything deeper than that is the domain of submarines and robots.
and really, all of that ^ paragraph is just tangential set dressing that I added because I like shipwreck archaeology, because knowing the Allegiance went down in the middle of the South Pacific meant it was always going to a be a submarines-and-robots wreck. The middle of the Pacific Ocean is uh. deep. but I wanted to find out exactly how deep.
Tumblr media
so the map from Crucible of Gold puts the sinking at a little under 50°S and a little over 121°W, which the NOAA bathymetric data viewer says is just about 3000 meters deep
Tumblr media
Since that's an extremely boring screenshot, here's the CoG map overlayed on a bathymetric map:
Tumblr media
It's actually on a bit of a ridge there! which is why it's at 3000 meters and not deeper.
We do find and investigate wrecks at that depth and deeper these days. The Titanic is at 3800 meters, and it has been investigated extensively (though we also have a recent pretty major news story about why thats still difficult and uh, very dangerous) The USS Samuel B Roberts was found at 6895 meters, and perhaps most relevantly, the search for Malaysa airlines flight MH370 turned up two 19th century shipwrecks at 3500+ meters deep, over 2000 kilometers off the coast of Australia.
One of those wrecks was a wooden ship from either the 1870s or 1880s, and though, being wood, it was pretty badly decayed, its cargo (coal) and metal features (anchor and water tanks) were still extant. On the Allegiance, that would also include her guns and her metal keel (which would probably be the identifying feature TBH, the keel marking her as definitely a dragon transport)
That wreck is probably the best parallel to the Allegiance in other ways, being a wooden sailing ship with a wreck not only very deep but also very remote. It also probably went down due to an explosion, just like the Allegiance. They were common on coal-carrying vessels, and the sonar images showed the cargo was scattered across the seafloor like something catastrophic happened.
The Allegiance would be more remote than its real-world parallel, but anyone looking for it would be hunting for it specifically and would be armed with probably a decent idea of where she was when she went down, seeing as there were survivors who would have been very keen to remember where they were so they could know how close they were to land. Plus, much like the Titanic (though not to the same extent) there'd probably be funding to investigate the Allegiance once found, as she had a part to play in major political turning points on at least three continents. People tend to be interested enough to throw money at that sort of thing.
So, there you have it. It would take a pretty serious effort to find her, though not an impossible one, and once found she'd be investigated by shipwreck robots, which would bring back pictures and samples of her metal remains, with organic matter being mostly absent by the time she was found.

In all seriousness as someone who flies like once a month and is delighted by airports in general, here’s my advice for flying as easily as possible. These are America specific:
1. FOLLOW THE SIGNAGE. Airports *tend* to be well marked/signed and the signs are *generally* correct. Look to them first.
2. ASK FOR HELP. Airport staff are knowledgeable and pretty helpful. If you are lost and can’t find something, find someone.
3. GET PRECHECK. If you are able to get TSA Precheck, do so. It costs $85 and lasts 5 years. You sign up online and then go to a sign up location, often a location of an office supply store (for real). It’s not available to everyone depending on your life experiences, but if it’s accessible to you, it makes a huge huge difference.
4. GET YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW. Everything you can do online, do online. If you are American and flying domestically, but you have a passport, bring it. You can fly with a driver’s license as ID within the US and pretty much everyone’s licenses have been upgraded to the kind you can fly with. However, airport success is down to preparedness. Check in online as soon as you are able. If you have bags to check, add them to your reservation online. Some airlines have a strange, narrow window where you can add & pay for checked baggage online, like 18 hours before your flight but not less than 4 hours before. This is a right pain but if you can remember it, it makes a big difference.
5. WALK DOWN. If there are multiple available lines/clerks for something - check in kiosks, precheck, etc etc, never get in the first line you can see when you enter an area. Walk down to the last few rows. People tend to enter the first line they see. Further lines are often short or even empty because people get in the first line without checking.
6. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make a frequent flier account. Even if you’ll never fly this airline again. The purpose is not to collect miles, but to attach your ticket to an account you sign into (as opposed to manually locating it by confirmation number & email. Trust me on this.
7. USE THE ELECTRONIC CHECK IN KIOSK NO MATTER WHAT. Here are the steps for checking in on a flight the easiest, most reliable and foolproof way:
1. Check online before your flight. Usually available 24 hours before departure time.
2. Download the airline’s app, sign in with the account made (right?) and locate your flight. Add your boarding pass to your mobile wallet.
3. When you arrive at the airport, locate the electronic check in kiosk machines. Almost all airports have them. Locate the correct one for your airline. Scan the boarding pass already added on your phone at the kiosk. If you have bags to check, select “check bags” or “print tags.” Whether you have bags to check or not, select “print boarding pass.” If you are checking bags, apply the bag labels around the handles of your luggage. The instructions are on the labels. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BIT YOU PEEL OFF THE STICKY SIDE it’s your claim tag if they loose your bag. Take your paper boarding pass.
4. If you are checking bags, go to the “bag drop for already checked bags” counter. If you are NOT checking bags, YOU ARE DONE. If you’re not checking bags, talking to the actual person at the check in desk is *not needed.* proceed to security.
8. Adjacent: PRINT AND USE A PAPER BOARDING PASS. I don’t care if it’s on your phone. Phones glitch. Things happen. get a paper one and use it.
9. CHECK THE AIRPORT BOARD. Sometimes flight gates will change or flights will delay and the apps will not update. The only *real* source of truth at the airport is the Board. Use your app, yes, but check the board to confirm.
10. TAKE A PRACTICE FLIGHT. If you are going on a long, major flight as your first ever flight, do a practice flight beforehand. Flights on the 3 biggest budget carriers - Frontier, Spirit, and Allegiant - to leave and return the same day or one day later can often be had for as low as $40-$70. This is worth the cost of admission to literally just fly somewhere to have the experience and fly back without ever leaving the airport. Flying with a cheap ticket just for fun will remove the element of panic, and allow you to practice and learn your local airport and then process so you’re experienced and confident when the chips are down.
11. For the love of god if you are flying through Atlanta - and if you fly Delta once ever you will - make sure you have at least 2 hours of layover time. It takes over an hour to walk from one end of the Atlanta airport to the other. You do not want to deal with this shit.
12. IN GENERAL, give yourself a TON of time. Get to the airport at least 2 hours early for domestic travel and aim for 3-4 for international. Does it take that much time? No, it doesn’t, but like everything else, the objective is to build in safety nets from problems and unexpected occurrences.
13. LOOK UP YOUR FLIGHT BEFOREHAND. Flights are run with the same numbers daily or weekly, often on the same planes. This is publicly available info. You can look up your flight on flight aware, flight radar, plane finder, etc etc. and see what sort of plane it’s on, if it’s usually on time, and every other bit of info you could imagine. Boeing 737s and Airbus a320s, which are the most common planes for domestic short hauls, have very narrow isles and can be hard to wheel carry-ons in. If you’re flying on one of these planes, choose a carry on with this in mind.
This is NOT EXHAUSTIVE. However!!! These are the things I have learned over the years to make the calmest, most enjoyable, problem-free airport experience. I have a number of steps, like paper passes and checking boards, that are theoretically not needed in the year of our lord 2024 and are regarded as Weird and a waste of time. However, the whole point of this list is to reduce points of failure and provide safeguards for common problems: missed flights, boarding passes not working, lost baggage, dead phones, and any other catastrophe you can think of. The key to a peaceful airport experience is preparedness and safety nets.
Happy flying 💗✈️

Chains of Heart ep 10
So that was...disappointing. I'm generally not one to not finish things that I've started, so I'll do this anyway, but it's not satisfying.
I guess the main thing to say is that, despite the...open?...ending, the show at least stuck with the design elements already set up from the beginning.
Since this ep was focussed mainly on Lue/Din and his revenge again, the main featured colours were Lue's red and Din's green.
This is seen straight off with Lue/Din walking into his family home.
Tumblr media
And meeting his mother (both also have some of Ken's blue).
Tumblr media
Sai also has green and red in her top (with the green scarf used to cover her eyes).
Tumblr media
And then Deedee brings more of the red/green combination as he did in ep 9.
Tumblr media
In the end, Red Lue got his revenge and which literally bled out from the man he was so hellbent on taking down. Ironically, the moment happened in a place surrounded by Din's green.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the information to take everyone down was stored on a red usb.
Tumblr media
And as if we didn't need the reminder/confirmation, the dodgy doc shows where his true allegiance lies in Ken's blue and Din's green.
Tumblr media
I was happy that I was right about Don being good/working with Din/Lue (Poppy can do no wrong!).
Tumblr media
And I was also right in my prediction that the below was going to be Lue/Din looking down at a dead or dying Ingpha... It's a hollow victory though because the moment was so heart-wrenching. In some ways, it might have been more satisfying for Ingpha to have stayed alive and be given life imprisonment like his sister.
Tumblr media
And speaking of unsatisfying... I kept waiting for Lue/Din to show up at the end -> with Ken being in Din's green under the red flowers, and at the green and red temple, and on the circle of green and red tiles. WHERE WAS HE?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But wait! There was an extra scene after the credits! Ken is in Lue's burgundy red, entering the airport through doors with a green stripe, passing a sign with blue and red...
Tumblr media
...and checking in for a flight with a red airline and stood by a PURPLE barrier (which was symbolic for Ken and Din/Lue's love)...
Tumblr media
...aaaaaaaaand then NOTHING.
So... DAMMIT... we can glean that Ken is off to Sai's wedding on the 7th of July and that he will most likely see Din/Lue again...but whether he'll still be Lue or be back as Din, we can only guess.
I DIDN'T WANT TO GUESS, DAMMIT, I WANTED TO SEEEEEEEE IT.
