Lisa Marie haters this, Lisa Marie stan s that. Who the soldiers need to band against is Karen Faye and her questionable makeup choices when it came to 90s and mature era Mike. I'll never forgive her for putting that poor man in full red blush and lips every chance she got. The only time he looked decent,make-up wise,in the 2000s,was when he did Ebony Magazine. That was the first time in a while that his make-up actually suited him. (And if I remember correctly,he said that he wanted the Ebony make-up artist to work on him from then on instead of Karen.)
(There's also a lot of other reasons why we should band against her, but I digress. Essentially, all my homies hate Karen Faye.)
Omg I have one sided beef with that woman. Besides the fact that she’s a little weird and keeps blocking people who call her out on Twitter, she just comes across as very exploitative to me. She talks as if Mike and her were the closest of friends and answers private questions about his life. We all know that she was (still is tbh) in love with Michael and there’s nothing wrong with that, I mean hello I write fan fiction about this beautiful man, but her infatuation seems a little fetishy to me. Like am I the only one?
And besides that the way she trash talked lmp was very pick me of her. Michael was no saint nor was Lisa but what the hell was Karen of all people doing talking about their marriage publicly?! Just desperately trying to win over Michaels affection, weird weird behaviour.

Introducing myself and giving an explanation.
Hi everyone! 🙋🏻‍♀️
My name is Ana, but you can call me An or Annie.
I'm Mexican.🇲🇽
I like many things like animals, read history, classic novels, esoteric stuff and magic, manga, watch anime, belly dance, music, tv shows and movies, videogames.
Some of my favorite things are:
Animals like felines and canines (ALL OF THEM!), bats, hummingbirds, crows, rabbits, bears.
History:Ancient Egypt (everything about that time), and other historical periods (Middle ages, Ilustration era, Victorian era).
About the cultures of my country I love the Aztec (Mexica) culture, Mayan culture, Toltec culture and others.
My favorite books are:
The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Dracula by Bram Stoker.
Other books I love that are on Spanish are "Cuentos de la selva" (Jungle tales) by Horacio Quiroga
"El Diosero" by Francisco Rojas González .
About the Esoteric stuff, I'm a Tarot and Oracle reader, I learn and practice Reiki, I love quartz, rocks and minerals for spiritual, magic and therapeutic uses, talismans and charms, candles, dowsing with pendulum, astrology.
Anime I like Yu-Gi-Oh, InuYasha, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Card captor Sakura, Record of Ragnarok, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z (just to mention a few).
I'm not a belly dancer, but I really enjoy belly dance (oriental dance). I practice at home by the moment. I hope I could go to a dance academy someday.
I like the Egyptian style. Particularly, the Golden era period. Some of my favorite dancers are Souhair Zaki, Samia Gamal, Tahiya Carioca.
Music: I like the music of the past century, specially since the 70's till 90's. I like disco and funk, classic rock, hard rock, glam metal, heavy metal, but also the New Wave or Pop music.
My favorite singer is Michael Jackson.
And my favorite band is Guns N ' Roses.
Tv shows and Movies I watch a lot. I like animated shows and movies, action and superhero, some comedies, medical drama, police drama, supernatural shows.
My favorite films are Alice in wonderland (animated and Tim Burton's version), The Prince of Egypt, Beauty and the Beast, The Mummy and The Mummy returns, Hitch, School of Rock, The Nightmare before Christmas, Sam Raimi's Spiderman films, Star Wars franchises.
My favorite shows are Looney tunes, Powerpuff girls, Arrow , Friends, The Big Bang Theory, House M.D , E.R, Law and Order Special Victims Unit, White collar, Supernatural, Charmed.
This last year, I've been watching a lot of K-drama. I'm really enjoying it.
Videogames like Castlevania ( I like both, videogames and the Netflix TV shows), Halo, Mortal Kombat, Devil May Cry for example.
I had a Tumblr account with the same name before. It was fully dedicated as a fan blog of Castlevania. Many of the things that I had were some of my silly memes about Castlevania Netflix (most of them about Alucard).
I deleted the account because I was very inactive here and I felt a little bit limited by just post about Castlevania.
Sometimes I reblogged the nice drawings of friends that are here, sometimes I shared about ancient Egyptian history, but not so often.
After deleting the account, I didn't feel well about leave this place, so, I decided to create an account and start all over again.
I want to use this place to connect with people that enjoy the same things that I do.
So, I hope find again the cool friends who are still here, but at the same time, find new friends.
With the time, I'll be re-posting the material of Castlevania that I posted before, just in case there's someone interested.
For the last, I want to share some pictures of my favorite things.
Thanks for your attention.

Sandy Saturdays #3:
It'll Take A Long Time
Tumblr media
Sandy Denny never had a hit record. The only time her voice appeared on the singles chart she was singing in French, turning Dylan's Manfred-Mann-recorded creeper tale from 64 about where Bob's romantic partner is allowed to sleep, If You Gotta Go, Go Now, into an accordion driven novelty track.
youtube
I don't know about you but I'd rather have Sandy tell me where to sleep than Bob, especially given what Dylan's been accused of by a woman who was 12 year old at the time (google it if you must; it's the kinda story that makes the Dollar Bin shudder and quake, wondering if I should be writing about Care Bears or something equally benign instead).
Fairport Convention's awww shucks French language version, Si Tu Dois Partir, skyrocketed to #21 before the buying public moved on to everything else that happened in 1969. I don't imagine the single's Magical Mystery Gore cover art contributed much to sales.
Tumblr media
Within six months Denny quit Fairport Convention. She'd never make the single chart again.
But she should have! If you want to get depressed, spend a little time researching the hit songs from 1972. Denny's not the only essential musician of the era who did not make it big; Van Morrison made his best (brace yourself, here comes a controversial opinion) record that year, Saint Dominic's Preview; its lead single Jackie Wilson Said topped out at #61 (but it was #1, thank goodness, in Ireland!). I think it's a cause for debate whether or not there are 60 better pop songs in history than that shakedown stomp a song. And Joni Mitchell's You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio barely fared any better that same year. But this piece of sorry shat sat at #1 for 6 weeks:
youtube
The song is a fitting soundtrack to every nightmare I've had about dental offices. (It's also kinda good, I guess, especially the part where he worries about his mother; someone outta comb Gilbert's chest hair for him and tell him everything will work out...).
Alone Again (Naturally) did lead to some good in the world, however: Biz Markie took the track and made real art out of it two decades later.
youtube
Maybe it's time for me to hunt for Biz in the Dollar Bin. He's on fire here. The poor guy needed a ride and didn't get one. Then it started snowing! Damn, I forgot about Biz Markie. He's awesome. And then there's this song. Biz Markie!!
youtube
Where were we? Oh yeah: Sandy Denny, 1972. Seriously, imagine if the graceful opening track from Sandy, her second solo record, entitled It'll Take a Long Time, with its orchestral swells and steady, shimmering glory, had not gone unnoticed that year. Imagine if it had dominated the charts instead of Alone Again.
youtube
Biz Markie would have then followed in Denny's footsteps, putting out his own version of her song entitled It'll Take A Long Time (For Biz To Sing This Song) 20 years later. And Sandy's estate would not have attempted to ruin hip hop in response (that's what Gilbert O'Chesthair did: he sued Markie and put the breaks on all the sweet sampling that was going on in early 90's hip hop, thereby shoving great bands like De La Soul into long term creative limbo). Rather, Sandy's estate would have reveled in the attention, spreading her amazing, largely forgotten music far and wide.
Just imagine a world in which everyone grew up knowing It'll Take a Long Time... Donald Trump never would have been our president. Who could like Denny's song and vote for anyone who preaches hate? Biz would have beat the Donald out in 2016, and served as our 2nd Black head of state, bringing peace, stability and voice cracking beats to the world over. Sure, Biz's untimely passing in 2021 would have been cause for global mourning, but his VP, Queen Latifah, would then be our current, first female and first queer, president and, as her first act of office, she would have put statues of Sandy and Biz up in place of some confederate nonsense.
It'll Take a Long, Long Time folks to clean up all the mess we're in. But we can get there.

I'm trying to accumulate all of Alisha's Attic's music catalog (one is on spotify but ofc it's not my fav) because they stopped putting out albums in the early 2000s and are hard to get in the USA as a uk duo. there's no working torrents, very sparse tracks on youtube (although some SAINT uploaded most of a limited fanclub release which is probably the only why i would have ever heard those tracks since finding that cd is impossible)
i bought 3 of their albums when i lived in england and i CANNOT find them anymore but i do still have the rips i made. i just bought another on ebay and i think i'll buy their japan release off discogs that seems to be the only way to get it. i have half the tracks off that release from back in the day off a rip my sister had that i held onto but i never had three of the tracks.
idk. this is my favorite band. they're 90's girl alterna pop with a weird bent and no one remembers them despite them charting in the uk multiple times. if i gather everything i'll probably package it and put it up somewhere.

Albums Of 2023: 25-1
Tumblr media
Part one of this list (numbers 50-26) is here:
The countdown continues:
25.
DJ Rap "Dark Glitter"
Tumblr media
Exclusively released as an NFT, not many people got to hear Rap's first full length of new material since 2010. And while I rather hate the release method, I wasn't going to miss out on a new album from Charissa Saverio. And it's a genre jumping affair. Yes, there's plenty of drum & bass as expected, but also some downtempo breaks, house, dubstep, even pop. With some orchestral flourishes, rock riffs, jazzy elements, skittery beats. All good stuff.
24.
Bored Lord "Name It"
Tumblr media
Oakland's Bored Lord has dived into the late 80's and early 90s dance scenes for a load of sounds of rave - breaks, drum & bass, house and more - to create an album which is both fresh and incredibly retro.
23.
Therapy? "Hard Cold Fire"
Tumblr media
Northern Irish rock legends Therapy? release their 14th full length, and it's arguably their strongest collection in nearly two decades. It doesn't re-invent the wheel, but does what they do, and does it well.
22.
Saint Agnes "BLOODSUCKERS"
Tumblr media
The bluesy rock of their debut is replaced by fury, energy and riffs more akin to Rage Aganst The Machine than to The White Stripes. The title track kicks of proceedings, and what a way to begin. One of the tunes of the year, and it is nearly impossible to sit still for the three and a half minutes it pummels your ear drums. It certainly getting the adrenaline pumping. Nothing that follows quite matches its awesomeness, but every track is very worthwhile.
21.
Orbital "Optical Delusion"
Tumblr media
Dance legends Orbital bring us their 10th album. Some new classics nestle among the tracklist, among some new sounds for them, and some quirky oddities, but it's all undeniably the work of the Hartnoll brothers.
20.
Skindred "Smile"
Tumblr media
The Welsh raggae metal titans prove with their 8th album that you can play the long game in this industry and still keep growing. This was very nearly their first UK number 1 album, and lost out at the last only on streams (it was the biggest selling album of the week), and it was paired with the announcement of their biggest ever headline show at Wembley Arena. Granted 'single' "L.O.V.E (Smile Please)" almost sounds like an attempt to break through to the mainstream, with it's crazy, catchy, pop reggae vibes and uplifting chorus. And it seems to have worked. But older fans need not worry, for there are plenty of crunchy guitars and pounding drums to create much moshpit madness, along with plenty of powerful and melodic vocal turns from Benji Webbe.
19.
Emma Hewitt "Ghost Of The Light"
Tumblr media
While probably best known for lending her incredible, angelic vocals to many a trance floor filler, her solo stuff is more dark, electronic pop. Sophisticated, atmospheric and catchy, beautiful hooks aplenty. This album has more 80s synthpop influences than her 2012 debut, but still maintains the ethereal magic.
18.
Delain "Dark Waters"
Tumblr media
I'll be honest, when all of the members of Delain, except founder Martijn Westerholt, left the band at the same time, something didn't feel right and I instinctively sided with Charlotte Wessels and co. Charlotte being the vocalist on every one of their previous albums, and, to me, as vital to the band as Martijn (even though there has been a bit of a revolving door of other members). I wasn't even sure I wanted the newly built version of Delain to succeed. But naturally I was curious. And of course, they've produced a brilliant album. Excellently delivered symphonic metal from start to finish, with some stunning melodies. If you liked them before, you'll like them now.
17.
Coach Party "Killjoy"
Tumblr media
Brilliant debut album from the Isle Of Wight indie rockers. The way they skip between ethereal melodic numbers and spiky, punky rockers is quite reminiscent of Wolf Alice, but there are some chirpier and moodier efforts on here too. Fab stuff.
16.
Duncan Forbes "Return Of The Strobelight Kid"
Tumblr media
One half of 90s progressive house pioneers Spooky, Duncan Forbes delivers his debut solo album. The beats range from 2-Step, to house, to techno, to old school breakbeats, over absorbing widescreen soundscapes.
15.
Superlove "follow:noise"
Tumblr media
Second album from this noise-pop trio. Jaunty, upbeat, catchy rock songs, with slightly off-kilter, unexpected song construction, some electronic moments, and plenty of absolutely huge, chunky riffs.
14.
Turtle "Landmass"
Tumblr media
An ode to the Scottish countryside with which Turtle surrounds himself, full of glorious beatless ambience, to mellow breakbeat, pumping four to the floor, haunting samples and string sections that will bring you to tears. A beautiful album to chill out to and get lost in. One of the rare occasions I recommend the digital version of an album, as the vinyl oddly omits some of the best tracks.
13.
Nicholson "Carpe Diem"
Tumblr media
Hard trance legend Carl Nicholson, unleashes what is apparently his final trance artist album, and it's a fabulous journey through the genre. Uplifting, euphoric, hard, and acid led, with some huge goosebump moments.
12.
Public Service Broadcasting "This New Noise"
Tumblr media
Initially recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jules Buckley for the 2022 BBC Proms, and newly remixed for the album release (oddly there is a version with crowd noise and a version without, the latter feeling like a studio album), it's an enthralling, interesting ode to radio for the centenary of the BBC. And while PSB's instrumentation and choice of samples is excellent, it is the orchestra that lifts this to the epic heights it reaches.
11.
RAM "Wanderlust"
Tumblr media
There is a run of 5 tracks in the middle of this album, that is absolute peak, modern, euphoric trance. Huge leads, stunning vocal melodies and performances, wonderful atmospheres and pounding beats. The other half of the album isn't bad at all, either. I recommend searching out the mixed version of the album (sadly this isn't the version on the CD). The unmixed version is all edits and the tracks don't get to breathe properly. Sometimes there isn't a huge difference in the track length, but it makes all the difference in the album flow. But as an example, the magnificent "Echoes" with Roxanne Emery is over twice as long.
10.
Black Honey "A Fistful Of Peaches"
Tumblr media
The first and second Black Honey albums just missed out on the Offbeat Top 10's of their years (11 & 12 respectively in 2018 & 2021), and their third here has just, very deservedly, made it in. Their songcraft keeps getting stronger, and they keep subtly mixing up their styles. There are some true indie-rock classics here.
9.
Trance Wax "Open Up The Night"
Tumblr media
The second album from Belfast-based Trance Wax (known as Gary to his mum) is another fantastic affair for lovers of the genre. The tracks here cover much of the varied spectrum of trance, plus a bit of breaks, drum & bass and house thrown in for good measure. Classics aplenty.
8.
Hot Milk "A Call To The Void"
Tumblr media
Are Hot Milk a rock band with a penchant for a catchy pop hook, or a pop band with a knack for a chunky guitar riff. I'd say yes to both. Either way, the tracks here both provide singalong earworms, and plenty of moshpit fuel, and along the way some nifty electronic production, and even some goosebump inducing orchestration.
7.
Ad Infinitum "Chapter III - Downfall"
Tumblr media
The Swiss symphonic metal quartet fronted by the magnificent Melissa Bonny were honing their craft over their first 2 rather good albums, but with this, their third, they have hit their stride. It is fantastic. The melodies, riffs and hooks are all on point. All killer, no filler.
6.
DMA's "How Many Dreams?"
Tumblr media
Britpop influenced indie (jangly sing along anthems, string laden slow cuts), with a healthy dose of electronic atmospheres and pumping beats, combined with huge choruses, evokes a charming, warm euphoria.
5.
anamē "Beautiful World"
Tumblr media
A gorgeous album of progressive house soundscapes, with some breakbeat wonders and a few trance influences in there too. Add to that some incredible guest vocals from Lydmor, Bien and more, and you have a beautiful album to float away with.
youtube
4.
Within Temptation "Bleed Out"
Tumblr media
After a couple of slightly disappointing albums (when compared to their earlier work), Within Temptation make a staggering return to form on their 8th long player. Their heaviest album since their debut, including some incredible djent style riffs (no gentle ballads on this one), but there is no shortage of their trademark epicness, symphonic stylings and huge choruses. Not to mention the incredible voice of Sharon den Adel front and centre as always. Up there with the best they've ever done.
youtube
3.
Enter Shikari "A Kiss For The Whole World"
Tumblr media
An incredible run of consistantly brilliant albums (to me their debut was good, interesting and showed a lot of potential, every one since has been brilliant), and with their 7th, Shikari have possibly produced their most accessible one to date (evidenced by it being their first UK number 1?). But that doesn't mean it's not 100% an Enter Shikari album, with it's constant flow, yet genre hopping all over the place. One of the most exciting, original and special bands in the world right now.
youtube
2.
Poppy "Zig"
Tumblr media
It is almost impossible to classify Poppy as an artist, such is the variety of styles she has released in her decade long career. You can mostly classify each project though, and she has released albums and EPs of bubblegum pop, electro pop, instrumental ambient, metal, industrial, punk, 90's style alternative rock & grunge, but now with "Zig" she has delivered her masterpiece (so far). It is mostly dark electronic music but with plenty of pop leanings and catchy hooks, elements of industrial, trip-hop, drum & bass, rock & metal. Yes, the songwriting is excellent, interesting and full of ear worms. Yes, Poppy's vocals are on point, both light and seductive in turns. But the crucial part of the album for me is the phenominal production by Ali Payami. So many incredible noises and sounds that engulf, captivate and excite.
I love lots of new music, but it's quite rare that an album and artist causes the excitement and interest that lots of music did when I was a teen. This year, there were two. And yes, Poppy was very much considered for the number 1 spot. She possibly would have been in many other years. But.....
youtube
1.
Conquer Divide "Slow Burn"
Tumblr media
The fact that there is too much screaming for my taste, or a couple of brief uses of that omnipotent 2010's pop vocal effect that I'd always question the use of, has not stopped this otherwise gargantuan album rising to the top of the pile and eclipsing the majority of the competition. Describing it as a mix of hard rock and metalcore, just doesn't do it justice to quite how epic it sounds. It soars! Magnificent guitar work from Izzy Johnson and primary songwriter Kristen Sturgis, and rhythmic brilliance from Janel Duarte on bass and Sam Landa on drums, and some excellent production and elctronic touches, all backing for Janel's afforementioned screams, and the incredible singing and clean vocals from Kia Castillo. What a voice. What melodies she delivers, what goosebumps occur.
Aside from my niggly complaints at the start, I have only one other negative to say towards this album, and it's nothing to do with what is present, rather what is missing. Comback singles "Chemicals" and "Messy" were utterly fantastic tracks that definitely deserved to be on this album, they were the ones that got me excited for this album (my thoughts on their previous album were positive, but nowhere near this positive) and their presence would have made this album even better!
In the 8 years between their self titled debut album and this, their 2nd, Conquer Divide have morphed from a solid and enjoyable metalcore band, to one of the most impressive and exciting bands on the planet. With the potential to be even greater! In the meantime I sit wondering how this record, with it's huge "why are they not hits?" anthems "The INVISIBLE", "Paralyzed" & "N E W H E A V E N", hasn't already got them headlining arenas across the globe.

Chig's genre
From the south coast of England, alternative 5-piece CHIG offers a unique expression of melancholic rock music unafraid to go heavy, blending elements of nu-metal, post-punk and shoegaze.
Influences of:
Nu Metal
AltRock
Shoegaze
Nugaze
Grunge
Genres In More Detail
Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge, shoegaze, and Britpop subgenres in the United States and United Kingdom, respectively. Traditionally, alternative rock varied in terms of its sound, social context, and regional roots. The 1980s highlighted the diversity of alternative rock's distinct styles (and music scenes), such as noise pop, indie rock, grunge, and shoegaze.
Shoegaze
Shoegaze is a subgenre of indie and alternative rock characterized by its ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume. Shoegaze combines ethereal, swirling vocals with layers of distorted, bent, or flanged guitars, creating a wash of sound where no instrument is distinguishable from another. The genre was typically "overwhelmingly loud, with long, droning riffs, waves of distortion, and cascades of feedback. Vocals and melodies disappeared into the walls of guitars. My Bloody Valentine's album Loveless (1991) is often seen as the genre's defining release; other prominent shoegaze groups include Slowdive, Ride, Lush, Pale Saints, Swirlies, Chapterhouse, and Swervedriver.

Nu metal
Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal) is a subgenre of alternative metal that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Nu metal became popular in the late 1990s, with bands and artists such as Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Slipknot all releasing albums that sold millions of copies. Nu metal's popularity continued through the early 2000s, with bands such as Papa Roach, Staind, and P.O.D. all selling multi-platinum albums. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture which emerged during the mid-1980s in the U.S. state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal. Lyrics are typically angst-filled and introspective, often addressing themes such as social alienation, self-doubt, abuse, neglect, betrayal, social and emotional isolation, addiction, psychological trauma and a desire for freedom. The 1990's is where bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Peal Jam and others started to become huge in the genre of grunge.

Nu Gaze
Nu gaze is a subgenre of shoegaze that emerged in the 2010s. It combines the dreamy, ethereal sound of shoegaze with elements of post-punk, indie rock, and electronic music. The music is often introspective and melancholic, with lyrics that explore themes of isolation, nostalgia, and longing.
These were the genres that our music combines, and they all tended to begin in the early 90s, The use of film photography and fashion. According to an article in The Oxford Student, music from the genre features "droning riffs, subdued vocals and walls of distorted, messy guitar or synth". It's a combination go grunge and shoegaze

Stuff I'm Looking Forward to in November
How is it now November? In addition to All Saints Day (Nov. 1), Day of the Dead (Nov. 1-2), All Souls Day (Nov. 2), Daylight Savings Time Ending (Nov. 5), Election Day (Nov. 7) Veterans Day (observed on Nov. 10, officially on Nov. 11), Diwali (Nov. 12), Thanksgiving (Nov. 23) and Native American Heritage Day (Nov. 24) here is what's on my radar this month!
Movies:
Priscilla
After last year's Elvis biopic, The King's Queen Priscilla Presley gets the biopic treatment courtesy of Sofia Coppola. Opens 11/3.
Sly
Director Thom Zimney has done a ton of great docs on Bruce Springsteen including Letter to You as well as Elvis: The Searcher. Now he is turning his eye to Sylvester Stallone. Premieres 11/3 on Netflix.
The Killer
A David Fincher film is always an event. But when he reunites with Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, it's an even bigger event. After a limited release on 10/27, it premieres 11/10 on Netflix.
Thanksgiving
In 2007's Grindhouse, one of the highlights of the fake movie trailers they had between Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's features was Eli Roth's trailer for Thanksgiving about a Thanksgiving-themed slasher film. It took a while, but now Eli Roth's actual feature film is finally dropping on 11/17 (just before Thanksgiving)!
Next Goal Wins
Taika Waititi is one of the most interesting directors working today. In addition to what he has brought to MCU with the last few Thor movies, his Jojo Rabbit deservedly won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Now he's back with a sports dramedy. Opens 11/17.
May December
This drama had me at "Todd Hayne directs Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman". Opening 11/17.
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain
The comedy writing team of Please Don't Destroy have stolen many an SNL show in recent years. Now they are starring / writing their own film produced by Judd Apatow. Premiering 11/17 on Peacock.
Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte gets the biopic treatment from Ridley Scott. Opens 11/22.
Maestro
After his directorial debut with A Star is Born, Bradley Cooper's next directorial effort is a Leonard Bernstein biopic. Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are producers on this as well! Opening 11/22 before a Netflix premiere on 12/20.
Music:
Snail Mail Valentine (Demos)
I was a huge fan of Snail Mail's excellent 2021 album Valentine. Now she is releasing an EP of demos and outtakes. EP drops 11/3.
The Beatles' Final Song and Reissues
Possibly the biggest deal for Beatle fanatics since The Beatles Anthology in the 90s is happening this month. Their final single "Now and Then" containing John Lennon's 1979 recording combined with George Harrison's 1994 recordings (when they attempted to record it for Anthology) with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr's modern day recording. While AI was used for the production, contrary to some interpretations this is NOT a Beatles song created by AI. Single is dropping 11/2. As if this weren't exciting enough, the remastered re-release of 1973's The Beatles 1962-1966 (AKA The Red Album) and The Beatles 1967-1970 (AKA The Blue Album) are being re-released on 11/10. (Review coming soon).
Scream DC Special
D.C. punk legends Scream (the band that Dave Grohl joined as a teen and was in pre-Nirvana) have not released an album in 30 years (Fumble, which featured Grohl re-joining for that album). Now the group is releasing a new album (featuring tons of special guests including Grohl) on 11/10.
Conventions:
NorthEast Comic Con
Over the last few years I've been lucky enough to cover the NorthEast Comic Con, a fun MA-based celebration of comics, collectibles and pop culture. Guests for the Winter edition include Heather Matarazzo, Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald and more. Con takes place at Boxborough Regency (Boxborough, MA) from 11/24-26.
Fake Holidays:
In addition to actual holidays this month, there are also fake or unofficial holidays like Black Friday (11/24), Record Store Day Black Friday Edition (11/24), Cyber Monday (11/27) and Giving Tuesday (11/28).

Rules: list eight shows for your followers to get to know you better
@seaofolives said I was doing this, so I am. (Well, she said "you", so I guess you're doing this too? if you want?)
Tiger & Bunny - You CANNOT fully understand my most current and most profound brainrot if you don't know this adorable band of heroic goobers, and most specifically Nathan and Keith, and how much they all love each other.
Yuri!!! on Ice - Favorite comfort show forever and ever. It's not quite perfect because episode 12 is so rushed, but it's overall absolutely perfect for my heart. (Witnessing episode 7 live was... certainly a thing.)
Supernatural - Speaking of witnessing things live, I feel like you can understand my derangement much better by knowing that I watched this for THE WHOLE FIFTEEN YEARS AS IT AIRED. And then November 5th 2020 happened. And then that finale, and everything that followed. I would not recommend this to anyone (because I care about people's mental health), but I thank it for bringing me to Tumblr.
Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon S - Absolute core childhood memories all over the place, and even though it took me another lifetime to realize it, Haruka was totally my main queer awakening.
Star Trek - TNG - More, even earlier core childhood memories. I imprinted on Data like a very almost-certainly-but-never-diagnosed-neurodivergent duckling. And the whole thing made me forever feel like conflict should be resolved with intelligence, diplomacy, and respect for individuals and cultures.
The X-Files - Watching this as a teen unlocked my shipper gene in full force (and actually, obviously, taught me the word 'shipper' in the first place). Unfortunately, it evidently did not teach me to look out for shows that start out amazing and then devolve into an absolute trashfire (but hey, at least I never watched the revival).
Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis - One of my main fandom experiences, back in the LiveJournal days. (In retrospect, my giant crush on John Sheppard, a man who would rather jump out of a window than face a serious personal moment or talk about his feelings, was a pretty big personal-life red flag.)
... Honestly, just pick a random bunch of the anime series that were airing in Italy in the late '80s and early '90s, throw them into a blender, and you'll get at least half of the underlying structure of my brain. Absolutely necessary mentions: Anime Sanjushi, Saint Seiya, Creamy Mami (and all her magical girl friends), Samurai Troopers, Slayers, Captain Tsubasa, and a whole lot of stuff that was probably WAY too dramatic for me to watch at that age, lol.

Hedi Slimane, portrayed and wearable music.
Tumblr media
Hedi Slimane, french photographer and fashion designer, is probably the most important figure in terms of establishing a dialogue between rock music, fashion and photography, by portraying the essence of rock, from different perspectives, such as the spirit, the history, the importance of all time icons. hitting adolescence by the 70’s, influenced by the white duke era of Bowie, started a mixture of capturing the all time icon and putting in value the appearance of new stars. This by being present in the emergence of new scenes since the early 90s.
This happens through his work on photography, and later, fashion design. In both cases, Slimane has putted important marks by documenting youth, and changing the way they wore.
From Christian Dior, passing for Yves Saint Laurent and today, in Celine, Slimane hasn’t benign shy by the moment of showing his vision as a creative director in these brands; A bold, subversive attitude in slim silhouettes, materials such as leather, denim, prints referencing band tees and outfits and runway themes that remain to icons like Bowie, Jagger, Hendrix, Cobain, and many others.
Parallel to this, his photography work has been present along his career, and has this charge of capturing new scenes, new icons surrounded by this aura full of energy, but at the same time icons like Iggy Pop and Bob Dylan.
Is safe to say that his photography operates like the documentation of a cult, like a religion of music, which gods are the all time icons, the rock concert is a ritual, fans are devotees, the theater is a church, and all of their elements inside are objects that represent the spirit, like a cross represents the image of Jesus.
With that in mind, we can say, Hedi, has created a symbiosis that makes rock music take inspiration from his work and vice versa, especially if we see his work as a repository of information that summarizes the rock spirit.
Also, this gets relevant if we think about the question of whether or not rock is dead. Is it dead? or now it exists as an aesthetic, or as a feeling/spirit? maybe now it’s not about guitars and drums.

HEAVY METAL RECALL: ANTHRAX "Stomp 442" 1995
HEAVY METAL RECALL: ANTHRAX “Stomp 442” 1995
When the Grunge/Alt scene hit in the early 90’s it forced a lot of bands to change their style. Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax all took a different approach with the latter even changing lead singers from Joey Belladonna to John Bush of Armored Saint fame. Ironically Anthrax had the least success but years later when you listen back they may have adapted better than their counterparts even if…
