That prev post reminded me how much it weirds me tf out when someone only interacts with specific subsets of a minority group and learns their associated niche behavior patterns, and then tries to apply those patterns to every member of that minority that they meet afterwards only to be shocked when it doesn’t work.

Double shift last weekend and this is the only picture I got (which my coworker actually took with me for her Facebook story RIGHT when I looked like shit and it was low effort makeup day because I had to be there early to open the bar)

Christian metal(core) goes so hard tbh. You would never even know they're Christian if you didn't grow up as such to understand the lyrics. Also, the lyrics are so good, it's not "ohhh I hate myself and my girlfriend broke up with me so I'm gonna kill her and myself" or some boring shit it's always how they do not deserve anything on this earth and seeking freedom from it cause they hate the World and seeking redemption lmao it's so fucking edgy but it's supposed to be and is so visceral imho it's so good.

#I hung out with some old friends last night #[they’re all guys my age. we went to school together] #and it was really fun for the most part #but one of them (who was more part of that friend group than my friend) makes me want to commit first degree murder #he’s the stereotype of men in their early 20s who ‘love music’ and gatekeep to a parodic degree #like listens to all this shitty overproduced machine generated house music and a couple other obscure things #and acts like he’s fucking Mozart #he has no musical background or training or skills but wants to be a ‘producer’ and is trying to make it with a metal band #but every time I (who am a classically trained harpist and did a bunch of classes in the music school at an Ivy) or any of the other guys #suggested or said something #he got all huffy #like it was a personal insult to him to have different taste #same when we talked about travel #I lived outside of our home country for almost 4 years to do uni and am abroad at least 4-5 months of every year #he’s left once (to go meet a girl he met online to predictable results) and acts like he’s an expert on international travel #are all men in their early 20s insufferable or just 95% of the ones I meet? #not the stones #me stuff

A fun part of working down the street from a fairly large concert venue is that every week there’s someone famous in a tour van parked right next to my work parking deck and most of the time I have no idea who the performers are because it’s not what I listen to but even when I don’t it’s fun to observe how they act or hear how they treat people from the friends I’ve made at the venue, today there’s a singer I know (tiktok viral romance song) and I just watched him walk down the street and people who were waiting outside the venue started the yell for him and he just turned towards them and smiled a very sweet smile and waved. Usually performers aren’t too willing to leave the area from the tour bus to the venue so it was pretty cool to see this seemingly nice man who has more fame than I probably ever will jay walking on the same street that I jay walk on

#it was Stephen sanchez but honestly I wouldn’t have known it was him until people started yelling #also it’s fun to see how different the fans are for different performers today there’s a line of white young girls dressed up in 60s poodle #skirts and the like lined up for a show that isn’t until six hours from now #there have been times when there were metal bands (more my speed) and the line of people were so unique to one another but all of them were #so hot lol it’s just interesting to see the different groups of fans #i will say the main reason I don’t go to the shows at that venue is because the service fees for that venue specifically are insane #so it could be the distribution of fans who are also able to buy tickets to the shows #obviously I’m not saying that waving and saying hello and smiling at everyone makes him the pinnacle of kindness I don’t know the man #but there are performers who come around here who are obviously much more rude to everyone they interact with (if you’re ever famous be #extra nice to the venue staff because they will talk about you if you’re an asshole)
