About the Akashi Family.

I don't think i ever talked about it on tumblr but your recent post reminded me to share it here too @cemetery14

My theory is that the name Akashi comes from Shiori and not Masaomi.

It's canon the Akashi are old money, a really prestigious and wealthy family. And it's not unusual in Japan for the husband to take his spouse name if she is from a more prestigious family.

If Masaomi comes from a less prestigious family it may explain why he is so hard on Seijūrō, and why he is so strict on the whole 'a man from the Akashi family has to be perfect in everything' thing. He had to prove himself to her family to marry Shiori and to deserve the Akashi name. He has to be perfect in every domain and always come on top.

And now he tries to make sure his own son is also worthy of this name he fought so hard to deserve. He truly believes that's the right things to do for Seijūrō, he just enforce the same standard to his son that he does to himself so he doesn't see how harmful it is, especially for someone so young.

Which also would explain why Shiori is the one with red hair while Masaomi has brown hair. And why Akashi doesn't seems to have any family outside of his parents, they are just as cold and strict as his father even the ones on his mother side.

In Akashi's flashback the colors are washed out so Shiori red hair look redish but it's not 100% sure, but here it's Teiko flashback and she has red hair. Also Fujimaki stated Akashi took more after his mother.

Anyway for me the Akashi name comes from Shiori and i will die on that hill.

Short Masaomi headcanon before I head out, but I feel like he's kind of a bad driver. Since he's always so busy and constantly getting driven around to save time looking for parking and such, I would bet he doesn't often put his driver's license to good use. So, in the rare event that he does drive, he sorta drives like a newbie. I'm talking 10 miles under the limit, shaky hands on the steering wheel, abrupt stopping, and constant confusion on what street signs say. When Seijuro gets his own license, he's constantly having to help his dad figure out how to drive and is also perpetually in fear of losing his life whenever he has to sit in the passenger seat.

i know im not the only one who's mad we don't know more about seijuro's (current, and past) family dynamic... what do you think about shiori and masaomi's marriage, or them as people or parents, do you maybe have some hcs about them?

The Akashi family headcanons

-Masaomi and Shiori were arranged to be married, like many in their circles. -But Masaomi really did love Shiori. I've read enough of the 'neglectful/abusive father who allowed himself to be softened and tampered by his kind wife' trope to get this vibe from Masaomi. -However, like I stated in an earlier post, the fact they only had 1 kid and Masaomi's lack of interest in parenting gives me the feeling they only had Seijuro for duty. -Just think of the fact that outside of Midorima the GOM doesn't knows shit about Seijuro's homelife. No coming over, no birthday parties? I have a sense Masaomi doesn't really likes children at all to be frank. -Shiori on the other hand, did seem to display some actual interest in being Seijuro's mom and I can imagine that if she had remained alive, she actually would have allowed the GOM to come over for a birthday party. -Also, Shiori was the one to arrange Seijuro's birthday parties and to actually listen to what kind of party and presents he wanted before she died. Masaomi's only input was the budget and discussing the party with his bussiness partners who had kids, so he could invite some of them. -Masaomi's love for Shiori is also why he immediately tried to erase her presence from the household after she died. I can imagine, that in a culture that deems seeking proffesional help as a weakness, Masaomi views going through the grief process to be a weakness, and he's avoiding having to actually face his pain for as long as he can outrun it. -This also reflects in the way he raised Seijuro, and why he never received some therapy and medication despite clearly having some form of a psychiatric disorder. -I feel like he might have been seriously conflicted about Seijuro's disorder too. Because whilst a weakness in Masaomi's eyes, Seijuro's second personality fell perfectly in line with Masaomi's personal philosophy whilst his original personality seems to be very much influenced by his mom. -Seijuro healing thanks to Kuroko, whilst a good thing on its own, is only proving to Masaomi that his son can manage his mental health problems all on his own and that seeking help, even in the face of a potential relapse, is unnecessary.

BABY/KID GOM HEADCANONS!!!

Midorima-

Had a strange obsession with rubber ducks. Had like 15 of them and refused to bathe without atleast 5 being present

He named every single one

He was the first one in his class to memories all the tables

He had a very hard time making friends :(

Had 1 friend that was actually his cousin but he moved states

But its okay the teachers loved him!!

Sat with teachers during lunch

Grew out of his shoes very fast and hated buying new ones bc he had a hard time adjusting to change

Had the cutest baby face and smile. Literally he was the cutest kid do not fight me!!!

Once him and his mom were going for a walk and a random woman came up to them and asked to take a pic with baby mido because he looked THAT cute.

it was either the cutest or the most off-putting thing to watch a 4 feet, oddly baby faced, 3rd grader trying to speak in polished adult vocabulary

Grew out of his clothes very fast

always at the back of every class photo

there was a kid that asked him "hows the weather up there" for 3 weeks straight and one day he got so fed up he told him that it was raining and spit on him

always picked first in pe

never shared his lunchbox w anyone

always picked out the vegetables during lunch and got scolded by the teacher for it

had to hold the teachers hand during every feild trip bc he kept wandering off

kissed every animal on its head during a school zoo trip. the techers took a picture every time he did.

his teachers made him take a photo w a baby giraffe and it was so cute

always got his siblings passed down shoes and clothes

sat in his siblings lap all the time. cuddled and played with them all the time as well. he was so full of love

like midorima, very cute kid, people asked to take pictures with him

his parents had to turn down modelling application since he was in 4th

he never got any stationary. always borrowed from the girls

He put a frog on momoi's head once and she started sobbing immediately. and started yelling at aomine to take the frog off her head

he thought it was the funniest thing ever. but then she started like screaming and some grandpa had to take it the frog off her head

she slapped him and said that they werent friends anymore.

He didnt take it seriously but then momoi started to ignore him at school and the park so he got scared shitless

he rehearsed so many apologies but in the end pulled up to momoi's house with this mom and shyly hid behind his mom while she talked to momois mom

Aomines mom and momois mom thought it was so cute and funny. They sent aomine to momois room to apologies and recorded the entire thing

he made momoi an origami swan as an apology. she forgave him!! yay!!

his teacher missed him during school trip headcounts and he got left behind at the zoo. like the bus literally left

he was calm and collected and just told one of the guards there to give him their phone so he can call his mom

his mom called the school furious and the bus came back mid way to pick him up

his teacher was crying and hugged him TIGHT. and she apologized a million times

he kissed her cheek!! aw

Momoi

people loved her hair!! everyone loved to play with it

she once actually ate her moms lipstick and said it tasted good

at one point she became really close with this one girl which made aomine so jealous he cried at her doorstep

she fed stray dogs regularly

Akashi

obsessed with remote controlled cars and planes

had a phase where he hated masaomi and loved masaomi to death during his toddler years

on one hand he wouldnt let masaomi even 5 feer near his remote controlled car collection

on the other hand when he was 4 he needed. NEEDED masaomi to sleep

he needed to be on masaomi's lap, shoulder anywhere

he gave him lots of kisses

And masaomi thought it was so cute

and akashi used to stare at him with such awe and love masaomi cried once. he got teased by shiori

Masaomi took him to work one day just to for demo or smth

and within 5 mins 4 year old akashi got stolen by the employees and they all played w him!1

he definitely sucked his thumb

needed a good morning and goodnight kiss from shiori to survive

I have the headcanon of Akashi acting humble at his own abilities(post winter cup of course) in the attempt of being like a normal guy. I.e "ah I don't have much experience cooking but..." and obviously delivers the best thing you have ever seen. Although this may sound contradictory to his special "trait" (being good at everything...) I like to think he's not the best at whatever at FIRST try, but is capable of being so if practices for a period of time/get interested in it. A very fast learner

His first drawing attempt was bad(expected as a kid). To this day, he likes to draw the gorgeous, beautiful, magnificent Yukimaru, so Akashi practiced more often until doing nice simple pieces.

All of this was written with the purpose of you imagining a very silly kid drawing of Akashi holding Shiori's hand with a tiny Yuki at the side. Masaomi is also there. A bit far but still included

A baby Akashi headcanon because I know @cemetery14 would want to read one:

I bet he deffo had a "why" phase when he was really young. Like those phases that kids have where they just ask "why?" in response to everything you say. At first, his father approves of his inquisitive nature as he believes that it's a sign of knowledge-seeking that will be useful later, but the constant questions get old very, very quickly.

"Father, where are you going?"

"To work, Seijuro."

"Why?"

"Because I have to run my business."

"Why?"

"Because it's my job."

"Why?"

"Because I wanted to be a business owner."

"Why?"

"Seijuro, no more questions."

"Why?"

It drives Masaomi up the wall, and it gets to the point where he starts redirecting baby Sei over to his mother in the hopes that he will be spared from that incessant "why" question. But eventually, his son will always come back to torment him.

(Masaomi secretly rejoices the day Seijuro is old enough to go to kindergarten because it means his teachers will be responsible for answering all of his son's endless queries instead of him.)

Basic Instinct Chapter 25

masterpost The two of you were seated at Rima's cinema room, and it truly was nice. Rich people definitely knew how to build an indoors cinema. The couch was so soft and comfortable, you could imagine falling asleep during a boring movie easily. It was perfect to snuggle up against Akashi. The servants had made popcorn, and several other snacks that had been placed before you. "I'm glad your grandmother doesn't thinks popcorn is below our stature." "What do you think rich people are? Barbarians with money?" Akashi asked, and you giggled. "Your father quite seems like one, no offense." "None taken." Akashi let out a small sigh, but honestly, the joy he felt in that moment was enough to make the small sad twinge in his heart forgettable. Perhaps with a bit more time, he might actually start laughing at the joke. Akashi started up the screen, it turnt out an amazing coincidence that Rima liked a few foreign detectives, including owning the entire DVD collection of Midsommer Murders. You had never seen the show in chronological order before, as you didn't own the collection and were reliant on the foreign detective month held by one Japanese broadcasting channel. The two of you were pretty excited. You, because you could finally see one of your favorite shows in the actual order and start from the beginning, and Akashi because he was trying out a genre that he considered interesting. You and Akashi weren't really the couple who'd watch a rom-com together, the stupid drama didn't spoke to either of your intelligence, and Akashi had never actually tried something you liked before so it seemed like a welcome change. You popped a handful op popcorn in your mouth as Akashi started the first episode.

Meanwhile, Rima had finished her investigations and found suitable stables about a 30 minute drive away from her home. Now Akashi couldn't ride on a whim, but considering they also taught horseback riding, Akashi might make a few friends with the kids taking classes. That prospect made Rima smile. Her grandson truly couldn't have enough warm, kind people around him. She was taking quite a liking to you, and she was interested in the friends Fujioka mentioned that he had made during his basketball 'career'. Which is why Rima was intending to start of the next best holiday season to throw Akashi a massive party she could invite you, the GOM and his teammates at Rakuzan too. These kids that made her grandson carry on, certainly must be special. 'I bet Shiori would have already met them if she were alive. Typical for Masaomi to not even care to get to know his son's friends.' She really had to stop roasting her son in law, but she just couldn't help it. He really was a turd.

Masaomi on the other hand, was caught in between fuming and crying when he stared at his mother-in-law's message on his phone, telling him she had found arrangements for Yukimaru. Masaomi had truly hoped threatening the horse would bring his son home, he loved that horse. He couldn't believe Rima would indulge in his son's stupidity, or that she would take you in for a few days. But honestly, what could he do about it? Throwing a public scene was going to get people gossiping, and Masaomi hated that. He hated to see his name and rumors swirling about him pop up in any article. He preferred the lifestyle of the true rich; obscured from the general public's eye whilst profitting off of them. Neither was he interested in having his bussiness partners doubt him, he didn't wanted to have them utter the accusation he couldn't manage a bussiness because he couldn't even manage his own family. Whilst the truth, it wasn't a truth he would like to admit out loud. Like there were many truths he didn't wanted to admit out loud about Shiori and how she would have thought of him raising their son the way he did. Because Masaomi knew she would be ashamed to hear he bullied their son away. He didn't knew what he found worse, her absence or the icy disapproval he felt when he looked at her photograph, as there were no secrets to the dead.
