the hollow star saga is so funny cause the most random stuff is mentioned and then it's never bought up again and its like why would you say that??? until it eventually becomes relevant and gives you so much whiplash.

i remember in the first book there was that random paragraph about dragons and i spent the rest of the book trying to figure out who the dragon was before eventually settling on Theo. then acafl comes out, there's no mention of it and i forget that thing entirely. then agasv comes out and oh would you look at that THERE'S A DRAGON. who's related to Theo.

and istg it's ALWAYS Theo. that fucking line in the second book which called Theo the 'shadow prince' cause he was always in the Lysterne family's shadow gave me whiplash. and then it was just never mentioned again. and THEN we reached agasv and oh would you look at that Theo wants to be king of seelie summer.

Nausicaa said one (1) (uno) line about Arlo being made of the shit immortals are made of and i was like o??? kay??? and then in like the last 20 pages of agasv they revealed that Arlo was LITERALLY NICHOLAS FLAMEL REINCARNATED???

i have so many trust issues with this book series. it's why my theories are always based off like one off-hand line.

More ADAHS headcannons

I imagine Lethe's personality as an orange cat (once he warms up to people) he has a lot of stupid idea's collected over the years, he gets bursts of energy, also will bring Cel shiny things he finds.

Vehan will go for runs with no direction and just zone out, then he'll be entirely lost when he zones back in.

Arlo is a booktok girly, she's a romance reader, mostly reading cute stuff but she's definitely found herself reading things that are less than family friendly.

Nausicaa is a language nerd and out of pure boredom over the years she has learnt a bunch of languages.

Aurelian is also a booktok girly but doesn't read as much contemporary romance, he read more fantasy and sci-fi.

Aurelian also definitely forced Vehan to sit down with him and watch good omens and dr. who.

Celadon is unbeaten at board games; the group will do board game nights and Cel always comes first at this point it's a war for second place.

Lethe has like a million-step skin and hair care routine; he researches all the products he uses and guards his hair like a prison.

Nausicaa hasn't read a book in a hundred years, but she has watched a majority of what Netflix has to offer.

Arlo did Ballet when she was young and wishes she kept doing it.

Cel can ice skate really well entirely unironically.

Vehan is super flexible and never utilizes it unless drunk or something.

Aurelian is scarily photogenic, like someone will snap a random picture of everyone and they'll all be pulling an odd face and he'll just be looking perfect.

Theo, Vehan and Cel all growing up in royal positions all can ride horses and play polo and will just do random intense competitions but get the others to join when they cannot ride horses.

Lethe is a plant dad and has like a greenhouse with a bunch of named plants that he will steal for to keep alive.

okay, so i just reread acafl and agasv. and i spent way too long examining every single interaction between Celadon and Theo and Lethe. like, am i just imagining the Celadon and Theo thing??? cause acafl gave me a lot and agasv had little hints of it???

am i insane??? or can anyone else see what i mean??? Lethe and Celadon already have a pretty strong relationship, which is pretty well crafted and well developed. but Theo and Celadon had so much chemistry in the first book, and their interactions were so delightful to read.

also also. Theo and Lethe??? THE POTENTIAL??? my most basic argument for their case is that Lethe likes interesting things and Theo is very interesting, and i'm not gonna elaborate further cause i'll go on a rant. even though their interaction in agasv felt like such a missed opportunity, i totally see that changing in the next book.

please tell me that one of you understands what i mean i am BEGGING.

i reread acafl (again), and got major flashbacks to my first read where i was trying to figure out who tf Celadon was gonna end up with.

''All that he knew was that he'd never met someone who infuriated him as wholly and immediately as Theodore did, and something about losing to him... Disappointing him... Cosmin, it made Celadon bristle-made him reckless." UMM??? HELLO???

and then Lethe saving Cel??? in the back of the alleyway??? and being pissed off about Cel being reckless??? THIS WAS SO GROUNDBREAKING WHEN I READ IT???

i was hoping so badly that the 3rd book would have all three of them together. tbh i'm gonna continue hoping for it in book 4.

My predictions for A Wild and Ruined Song (AGASV SPOLIERS!!)

No one asked but here is an incomplete list of what I think will happen.

So, since Arlo traded her role as the Hollow Star for Vehans role of Ruin, Vehan will be the Hollow Star, but it won't look the same way as it did for Arlo.

Arlo is going to get a lot of badass revenge (duh).

Celadons going to go on a whole thing if recruiting other courts and people into his new and improved system.

The majority of Vehan and Aurelian chapters they will be together (and they deserve it)

Theo will end up getting the leader of the seelie, and Aurelian will get the Wild but with Vehan helping him as Vehan has far more diplomatic sense.

Lethe will be more comfortable around everyone (yay)

Nausicaa is going to be pissed at Celadon and Lethe.

Nausicaa will get her heart back (and be even more pissed)

A Dark and Hollow star head cannons

Vehan plays Guitar, you cannot tell me otherwise, he learned every single Taylor Swift song before anything else and, his second favorite artist is Noah Kahan.

Nausicaa doesn't listen to heavy metal like we'd all expect, she listens to movie soundtracks, mainly Disney (and she's a descendants girly, she'd also love Barbie).

Arlo has very specific talents that are useful in the weirdest situations, like she'd be able to turn a pen into a weapon of sorts because she was bored in class one day.

Celadon hates skinny jeans but if he hears anyone say "no one looks good in skinny jeans" he will become said no one out of pure pettiness.

you cannot tell me Aurelian doesn't listen to Hozier, he would have a shrine of that man, and he also sometimes listen to Noah Kahan and when he a Vehan share headphones they listen to his songs (specifically Maine iykyk).

Arlo and Celadon have extremely niche inside jokes, they will just say a word randomly and die of laughter with everyone else confused.

Nausicaa hates Lego because its a children's toy she cannot do, she'd only good at destruction, so she's great a Jenga, because she knows the exact breaking point and how to give that to someone else.

Monopoly nights with the gang end up with a lot of regretted bets, Vehan is the main victim of this as he has never won a bet and ended up in a lot of dresses and full glam make-up.

Arlo can roller skate. Celadon can ice skate. Vehan and Aurelian can skate board. Nausicaa can so anything out of sheer spite.

Theo will often pull pranks on the group, Arlo and Vehan will pull extremely intricate pranks back looping everyone else into it.

They have power point nights. Sometimes it's just Celadon judging everyone's relationships.

Nausicaa will dance to Disney movie soundtracks, she'll go running through fields to "touch the sky" from Brave.

Vehan was taught to ride horses and can do wildly outlandish things on a horse like backflip off but never actually land it and Aurelian hates it.

Celadon uses glasses as a fashion accessory but he fully pranked the internet once to believe he was short sighted.

Vehan and Arlo will both just get up at like 2am and start doing homework even if its due the next week.

Hollow Star Saga Book Four Predictions

okay so since i've finished agasv it's time for my predictions for the next book:

the CeLeTheo polycule

so i remember Ashley mentioned that there's possibility for a polyam and the moment i heard that i was just immediately like, 'oh, they're definitely talking about Theo, Celadon and Lethe right?'

like i'm not the only one who thought Celedon and Theo had insane levels of chemistry in both agasv AND acafl???

and Celedon and Lethe are already super cute and canon by the end of agasv too??

I'd honestly love it if Lethe and Theo end up being into each other too like the dynamic sounds super fun.

anyway that's the prediction Celedon x Theo x Lethe is canon next book (i'm gonna look like such an idiot if i'm wrong)

2. dragon Theo???

now i'm not too sure about this one but maybe (just maybe) Theo's a dragon?

i remember i made this prediction all the way back when adahs was released and there was that random paragraph in the beginning on how people can be dragons without realizing it. i was like 'okay, so one of the characters we care about has to be a dragon right??'

by process of elimination i reached the conclusion that Theo was the dragon out of all of them.

i remember when we found out that his grand aunt is a dragon i freaked out like i was so proud of myself for reaching that conclusion cause there's a high chance that he inherited those traits.

buuuuuuuuuuuut i'm not too sure whether that's actually going to be explored or bought up or even be true in the next book so this is a very tentative theory.

3. if Riadne dies, then who's killing her?

okay so i'm not too confident about this because i don't actually know if Riadne will die in book 4, at least in the traditional sense. but if it does happen the potential candidates are;

Theo: NO LISTEN I'M NOT BEING BIASED ACTUALLY FR HEAR ME OUT; Theo wants to rule over seelie summer, and if i'm not mistaken you need to defeat the existing head in order to do that so... maybe? admittedly its not very likely though cause there aren't enough emotional stakes. unless Riadne just murders his parents or smth in the first half lmao. i'll say 5% chance

Arlo: since we're talking about murdering parental figures... yeah. i'd say there's like a 10% chance that it's Arlo who kills Riadne maybe?

Celadon: 25% chance it'll be Celadon simply for the emotional stakes... and murdering parental figures. but actually if we're talking about someone who needs to stab their mom in order to get over their mommy issues...

Vehan: him having some kind of arc in which he's vaguely unhinged would go so hard. sadly, however, it probably won't happen. he's still most likely to kill Riadne at 50% chance, because the angst would be so good.

others: this is just me covering up my tracks in case my top guesses are wrong so that i don't look like a total idiot. Lethe, Nausicaa and Aurelian take up the remaining 10%. although i seriously doubt it'll be any of them. if it is though, Lethe's most likely to and Aurelian's least likely to.

honestly the more i think about it Riadne probably won't be killed by someone else. either she'll manage to get herself killed in her quest for power or she won't die at all. it doesn't feel like all the loose ends would be tied up if she did (watch as she dies at the hands of someone i didn't mention on this list.)

5. Vehan does some insane shit

this actually isn't me pushing my let Vehan go batshit crazy agenda. i mean insane as in he's going to have a major battle or show off some huge feat of power.

extra points if it happens in front of Riadne.

i think the best case scenario is a Riadne vs Vehan fight scene.

6. Who's the big bad?

see this is more of a discussion than a prediction cause i know Riadne's our main antagonist but i feel like there might be an overarching one as well.

easiest answer to this is Cosmin, and honestly, yeah it probably is him. however, Luck seems like they have a good head on them and that they might stop him from doing anything that would harm Arlo, so i actually think that maybe, just maybe it's someone else.

Fate, maybe? i'm not sure, but it seems we don't like them.

it could be another one of the titans but i'm not too sure they'd introduce a completely new major antagonist by the fourth book.

7. Theo has a bigger role.

Ranking The Hollow Star Saga Characters

i know i'm basically screaming into a void but whatever.

Theo: i don't know okay leave me alone. sometimes you just obsess over a character who's only said like. six relevant lines in the entire series. i like him off vibes alone. every single time i encounter another character named Theo i start thinking about him. what the fuck.

Vehan: again idk man i just like him a lot. he's just really babygirl. it's a vibes thing, but also my heart goes out to him.

Nausicaa: i love her so much. i remember when i saw her cover art in the first book i freaked out cause she was just so. hot. anyway, it's actually not her humor that made me like her, surprisingly. i actually liked her backstory and exploring her psyche. she feels like the most developed character to me.

Aurelian: i don't think we got enough time with Aurelian in any of the books but i still liked him a lot. i thought that he lacked proper development in ADAHS, but i loved him in ACAFL and AGASV. he also sticks out compared to the other characters, at least to me.

Celadon & Arlo: they tied for this spot. see, here's the thing; i was okay with Arlo's character in ADAHS and ACAFL, but i liked her quite a bit in AGASV. on the other hand, i liked Celadon in ADAHS, loved him in ACAFL, and was okay with him in AGASV. i feel like both of them are a bit too main character syndrome for me, more so Arlo than Celadon. don't get me wrong i'm still very attached to both of them, it's just that they're not my vibe.

Lethe: again not my vibe, even though i found him quite interesting. i feel like i don't know enough about him yet. i feel like my opinion will change by the next book when we get more of him. honestly, he'll probably be just below or on par with Nausicaa by then.

Also, quick ratings for the other more minor (but still relevant) characters, best to worst.

Harlan: like his vibes.

Elyas: my child.

Thalo: rip milf you will be missed.

Vesper: i just thought xe was funny.

Eris: seems like he'd be a good father figure to Nausicaa god knows she needs it.

Yue: i like his vibes too.

Luck: they just seem kind of nice :)

Rory: just seems like a nice father and that hits different when compared to all the other parents.

Leda: i don't know why she's just kind of there.

Nikos: he just doesn't have much of an impact on the story.

Megaera: she just seems insanely hypocritical??

Riadne: does a lot of bad things and is pretty terrible overall. at least she does stuff though.

Cosmin: no

Azurean: sits around and does nothing.
