DUDE, I've already blocked you like 5+ times across all my accounts since I was on F.F.N posting my old aF KouMi with side implied crack-ship Mi//mato that was parodying B.S.S.M. (not that you actually read that note, likely) and the first hints of my Tai//Kou O.T.P, and Yama//Jou and Joushiro side-shenanigans showing fic also there, so literally please stop making me have to Block you from my posts again.

By the way, you """flamed""" me when I was literally Young Me. (Ship-wars and homophobes nEVerrr existed in this fan base during Adv-02 Standom's pre-HellSite TM days and never harassed younger Queer fans on F.F.N over M/F ship-wars on all sides!!!1! Adv-02 Standom has always been a ~~pure queerphobia free paradise~~ where this Never Happened You All. If you dispute this, good luck, you'll just have to watch as over half this fan base's fan history gets overwritten by people who weren't even there!!!)

are you someone that really cares about ships in adv & do you feel happy with how it turned out in the end? like sorato & kenyako became canon couples. i've seen many of the ships by fans like koumi, takari, dakari, taiora & others. there also some who ended up upset by the staff decision. like it didn't meet their expectation. i don't really care much. i just appreciate what has been given to us, though i ship taiora at first. i love miyako & ken the most, they're so sweet together.

I...care and don’t care, if that makes sense?

In general, I think a lot of people would consider my stance on shipping unusual, in that I’m very flexible with a lot of ships in terms of whether I’m okay with them being romantic or platonic. This means that there are platonic relationships that I get invested in and cry about way more than ones I strictly want to see as romantic, and ones that I’m shockingly flexible about portrayals and go “as long as it’s still portrayed as deep it’s okay, either is fine to me.”

For Digimon Adventure and 02 in particular, it gets complicated in a different way, because I really like its approach to human characters, and in my head, a ship is just one possible outcome -- as in real life, it’s not necessarily that there’s one single fated partner, but that a relationship works depending on the circumstances of life and how much effort you put into it, and some will be harder than others, but if certain life events happen and if certain changes happen, maybe they could work it out. I think this is largely because of the nature of how the series was set with the kids in elementary and middle school, and so in the end you have to think about “their future potential relationship” instead of “what we got in the actual series”. No matter how you slice it, you’re speculating.

I think part of it is also because I think of things in terms of “creative” first. So when it comes to the ships I favor the most, they’re because they happen to fit my personal tastes, and when I do anything creative -- ranging from making random silly headcanons on the fly to writing fanfic -- those are the kinds of relationships I feel personally comfortable and good at working with. (It’s also a bit of a Catch-22, because the more I work with something the more confident I feel with it, which makes me want to work with it more, etc.). But I also frequent Pixiv and keep up with doujinshi releases very often, and listen to my friends’ headcanons about different ships, and I think they all have very interesting takes on how their personal favorite ships would get together and have made wonderful creative work and headcanons out of them. I don’t like all of them, of course; sometimes I’ll disagree, but that often means I disagree with their interpretation of how the relationship should work, not necessarily that I disagree with the relationship on principle (as I said, these kids treasured each other so, so much). And while there are a few ships where I don’t like the majority of their fan portrayals of, I do generally think that, for many ships, their fans have spent a lot of time these last 20 years studying the relevant characters and unpacking their personalities, and you can learn a lot about the characters in general by studying them. Plus, they’re good stories and headcanons, and people worked hard on them.

I’m blessed with friends who have very different “main” ships from mine, and we still talk very cheerfully and have fun over it, and I think it’s about the ideal relationship with shipping I could possibly have. Personally, especially after over a decade of dealing with hangups and fights over things I’d rather not, I really want to focus my emotions and personal mental investments on being as “productive” as possible, by making new things out of existing possibilities, and I’m pretty happy this way. That’s not to say that I don’t understand that others will have differing feelings on it or relationships with shipping, but after over a decade, my current way of approaching it is how I want to approach it going forward -- especially since, in fact, my own personal favorite ships have changed a lot since when I first got into Digimon as a kid now that I see things differently, and maybe they’ll even change in the future. I’m not even against that possibility.

This is for Adventure and 02, of course, which I think also simply happen to have the most creative potential in this manner (having had two full TV series that fleshed out the setting in Tokyo in incredible detail, plus a giant cast that all loved each other so much, plus an epilogue that leaves a ton to the imagination to fill in -- even if you decide to go AU, the idea of “they’ll be adults someday” just really brings up the desire to imagine things). I have personal preferences for shipping and character pairings in other Digimon series and works, but I have to say I’m significantly more casual (and in some cases less flexible) about them. So this is a very unique situation, all things considered.

Which is your favorite koumi moment from adventure 01/02 and from Tri?

Ep 10 from Adv 01 has lots of good koumi moments (every koumi fan’s favourite, right?), but I also enjoy small scenes like when Mimi falls from Whamon and lands on Koushiro, or when she hangs on him in Pinochimon’s forest. In 02, Mimi and Koushiro didn’t interact much on screen so the only thing we have is on Diaboromon Strikes Back movie, where they stay together in the computer room. As for Tri, it’s not possible for me to choose a favourite (we Koumi fans have been treated with many great scenes), but I’d say I really enjoy Koushiro dressing up to impress Mimi, and Mimi trying to feed him / praising him by the end of Soushitsu.

There were a lot of anime normally made with the idea that a given rule* must occur, but I decided to do them while having doubts about whether or not it was a good idea to take on such given rules without any detail. Even if we went on with these given rules, I tried to take appropriate steps in showing why such things had occurred through step-by-step arrangements and reasoning. Digimon Adventure Novels Mimi Tachikawa + hints of her interactions / foreshadowing with Jou and Koushiro

Throughout the entire bus ride, Mimi Tachikawa was so absorbed in gossiping with her friends Taako and Mi–chan that she never bothered to look at the gradually changing scenery outside her window. Nor was she interested in doing so anyway. If you were to ask her later what landmarks the bus went through to get to their campgrounds in Mikami Canyon, she would have told you that she had no idea. “Okay, we’re here!” Fujiyama–sensei’s loud voice was useful to him during the school’s morning assemblies, for it could reach all the way to the back of the auditorium without the assistance of a microphone. Within the narrow bus, however, it caused everyone’s ears to ring. “The group you belong in is listed on the printout I gave you before we left. Your leaders will be wearing arm bands with their names on it, so find them using that and stick with your group. After that, listen to what your leader tells you. That is all.” Mimi looked down at the official–looking printout in her hands. In felt–tip pen was handwritten, “Kido Group (Leader: 6th Grade, Jou Kido)” “Hey, do you know who Kido is?” Mimi asked Taako, who was sitting next to her. Taako’s handout had “Arihara Group” written on it. “Kido–san would be…” Searching outside the window, it wasn’t long before Taako pointed, “Over there!” The boy she was indicating was dressed neatly in an open–collared shirt and an Ivy League–styled vest. Besides wearing glasses and the arm band that signified he was a leader, his shoulder was burdened by a square–shaped bag labeled “Emergency Food Supply.” Perhaps he was also feeling the heavy responsibility that came with being a leader because his face looked a little stiff. “Hmm… He doesn’t seem that reliable…” Mimi mused, but she was interrupted by Mi–chan, who motioned to them hurriedly, saying, “Look, look!” Mi–chan was pointing at the front of the bus, where a boy wearing a long–sleeved orange shirt was about to get off. Even Mimi knew who he was. They hardly ever talked together, but he was her classmate, Koushiro Izumi. Mi–chan wanted them to look at what Koushiro was carrying on his back – a wireless laptop. “Isn’t he so weird for bringing that all the way to camp?” Mi–chan sneered with mocking laughter, but Mimi didn’t laugh. She simply didn’t find any reason to. -- Mimi Tachikawa noticing Jou Kido and Koushiro Izumi pre-snowstorm (Ep. 01) - from the Digimon Adventures novel written by director Kakudou (Ch. 2) (emphasis / bolding / italics mine) (*NOTE: Though the novels were written by Kakudou, they do diverge from the original story at points past the initial File Island arc, especially by the middle of the second novel and by the third and final Adventure novel [the third novel of which is not yet translated, though summaries of a few short parts were given]. They also contain, however, many rather interesting looks into the Chosens’ personalities and potential interactions as seen by Kakudou, such as these.)
