It is so goddamn bizarre when you finally get meds that actually kinda work and you realize that your baseline for normality was buried so deep it could've struck oil.

spent months like I need prescription for my mental health give me prescription please please & now that I have it I'm like hm. do I want to have to take meds, actually
#part of it i think is just that typical anxiety that comes before any life change like s new job or whatever but also like#despite never having TRIED stimulants im familar w them i know people w adhd who are on them i had an idea of what to expect & thats what i#i figured id be getting but shes having me try this non stimulant option first bcus 1 apparently its good for people who also have anxiety#and 2 easier to get w the like Adderall shortages & shit rn#& im like ok i have NEVER heard of this drug before and didn't even know there WERE non stimulant options options.#like im doing all my research TODAY for the first time then pick it up tomorrow?#like me heslth anxiety girl just has to be like ok sure i guess. i had mentally prepared myself for stimulants & thats it!!!#i mean worst case i just try it & see if it works or if i have side effects but like. ugh. & i dont like that i dont like my np LOL like id#probably feel less uncertain about trying something i was previously unfamiliar with if she was someone i liked & trusted more#if i knew there were unfamilar drugs they might recommend to me i probably wouldve started over & found someone new to work with. AGHHH & i#didnt discuss any of this w her bcus it took me a couple hours after our session to think abt it & do my own reading & process my emotions#to really come to thia conclusion. & also i wouldnt have wanted to talk to hwt abt this anyway bcus i dont like her & have not felt at all#like cool w opening up to her beyond the minimum i had to do for the assessment#& my therapist is sick this week so im not gonna get to talk to her tomorrow!@#texticles#anyway i know ive got fellow adhd bitches following me. anyone try guanfacine did you like it or nah

remember when i thought i didnt have adhd because when i took adhd meds i thought i was ‘getting high’ off of it and always heard that if you ‘got high’ off adhd meds it meant you definitely didnt have adhd
well that feeling of ‘getting high’ was actually me misinterpreting the euphoria of finally having a more normalish brain function and being able to be productive as a euphoric effect of amphetamine and not the functional level everyone without adhd normally exists at all the time lol.

So I keep ending up awake and mulling over languages at 4am for no goddamn reason. Last night I ended up trying to figure out how to trick my brain into remembering which of provare (to try) and trovare (to find) in Italian are which, because my brain wants to associate the tr- verb in English with the tr- verb in Italian.
So I think, okay, provost and professor are both words that probably have a Latin root. Is there some etymology that I can remember between them—provare is also "to prove" (of course, the cognate there somehow doesn't help, since I can associate that with either finding or trying, if we're looking at proving in the academic sense, which involves both trying out hypotheses and finding information). So I go look up the etymology.
AND THE AUDACITY OF HUMAN LANGUAGE.
Not only is provare in no way related to either provost or professor, but THEY'RE NOT EVEN RELATED TO EACH OTHER. They are all from entirely different fucking Latin root words.
Anyway after all of that I'm pretty sure the difference between the verbs still has not managed to sink into my brain and I will second guess myself every time and probably continue to fuck it up, but have the meme I made on my phone in the middle of the night in outraged furor.

I really don't get why they gave Arthur port after the transfusion. They should've given him a coffee and a cigarette to raise his blood pressure
I wouldn't recommend those, either, as they raise the heart rate. The best things to give (as far as we know nowadays) are what they would give you after donating blood today, like juice and cookies. These replenish your blood sugar, which your brain and remaining red blood cells need for energy. Salty snacks are also good to eat, especially before giving blood, along with plenty of water, as both will raise the blood volume and pressure without affecting the heart rate.

downsides of the reacquaintance with adderall: it tends to give me some sleep onset delays, cuz that's one of its main side effects (along with being an appetite suppressant), and i already have BAD insomnia that i need to take melatonin for, and basically last night i finally fell asleep at 1am and woke up this morning at 4:30.
anyway time to do reading analysis homework and be sociable with my parents as well as my grandfather who does not speak my primary language.

Ngl, the first day of adderall was so funny. Within 30 mins of taking it I was literally outside with some soap and a rag and was cleaning my car for the first time in my life and I was still like 'yeah i dunno if it's kicked in yet'
my car looks great though so 🤷

feels like some kind of cosmic fucking joke that my ADHD med is one of the few completely unaffected by the national shortage, but over the last month and a half it has lost all efficacy after almost 3 years without problems.

Man like... one of the weirdest things about writing is piecing together the setup for a scene.
Like, for example: I’ve written a scene for way on down the line for my story. I don’t have all the setup hammered out yet, I don’t know what all happens from the current point to that scene.
And it’s wild figuring out like... okay, the protag complains about how dark everything is, and that tells me that he loses his flashlight before getting to that scene. He doesn’t try to call for help, so I now know he’ll lose his means of communication.
And like!!! I didn’t know these things when I wrote the scene! I just wrote how it seemed like it should go! It’s like peeking into another dimension where the story is already finished and just getting a glimpse of things.
Anyway other authors already know this but if you didn’t know, most of the time the author doesn’t know what’s going to happen next until they’re writing out the sentence immediately before it.
