Casting has been announced for the Florence Welch musical Gatsby, not to be confused with The Great Gatsby, which is currently running on Broadway starring Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada.

Leading the cast is Isaac Powell as Jay Gatsby, Charlotte MacInnes as Daisy, Ben Levi Ross as Nick, Cory Jeacoma as Tom, Eleri Ward as Jordan, Solea Pfeiffer as Myrtle, Matthew Amira as Wilson, and Adam Grupper as Wolfsheim.

The ensemble will feature Nick Bailey, Kailey Boyle, Runako Campbell, Jada Clark, Joshua Grosso, Alex Haquia, Gabriel Hyman, Matt Kizer, Lorenzo Pagano, Chris Ralph, Christopher M. Ramirez, Shea Renne, Aliza Russell, Shota Sekiguchi, and Maya Sistruck. Sam Simahk will be the standby for Jay Gatsby, with swings Cameron Burke, Jacob Burns, Mia DeWeese, Paige Krumbach, and Justin Gregory Lopez rounding out the company.

Gatsby features a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok and a score by Florence Welch and Thomas Barlett. Previews will begin at the American Repertory Theatre's Loeb Drama Center on May 23 ahead of a June 5 opening night. Performances end on July 21. Rachel Chavkin directs.

So I’ve seen Fiddler three times now. All professional high profile productions. (Weirdly never locally or regionally).

I saw Topol in his farewell tour. (Which was my first ~great performance of the-a-tah~ if you know what I mean by that). Which was life changing and burned into my memory. I don’t think I will ever see that role done better. You know when you see it and you’re like. Well that’s the top. That was it. I also went with my mom and it was a HUGE bonding moment for us :). But yeah one of my early theatre going experiences when I first got into it and I think I will brag about it until I die.

I saw the recently Broadway production but Danny Burstein was out. However his understudy, Adam Grupper, was just phenomenal so I have no regrets. It was spooky how much his Tevye was like Zero Mostel so it was cool to see how Tevye plays in that vein and how that interpretation affects the piece. It works brilliantly if you’re wondering. Very different than what I saw with Topol. I was mostly kind to the revival though it was disorganized.

And then Yiddler! Which I’ve been posting about but I loved. It was great seeing it in Yiddish just because well. It authentically made it more Jewish. And it made it even easier for a Goy like me to see how the mannerisms affect how these characters would have interacted and thought through things had they actually existed. Steven Skybell was great! Very well done. I don’t know if he brought out anything… new in Tevye for me but he did it pitch perfectly he was everything he needed to be. A very energetic Tevye! And Jennifer Babiak was a good golde. Great voice! Also when the hand of Fruma Sara appeared I gasped it was so simple but SO FUN AND SPOOKY. What a fun idea. Joel Grey is an amazing director wow. He has so much talent it’s insane

Da august officielt ankommer, er alt, hvad der skete i juli, kommet til en perfekt ende. Fans ser stadig tilbage på Tour de France, og de professionelle vil være klar til Tour of Spain. Jonas Vingegaard forsvarede med succes titlen, og den gule Tour de France Cykeltrøje repræsenterer hans sidste hæder.

Al tiden var reserveret til Tour de France i juli, en måned, der var vidne til 21 etapesejre. Mens Adam Yates og Simon Yates kæmpede på etape 1, delte de samme etape som brødre i det største løb i verden. Tour de France har aldrig manglet modige professionelle, der skal angribe i de store grupper og tage etapesejrene. Den grønne Billigt Cykeltøj gik til Jasper Philipsen, som i flere omgange beviste, at han er en ny generations shocker. Breakout-kørere vil være mere opmærksomme på etapemesteren, mens køreren med den samlede score vil lægge hele 21 etaper ud. Med Tadej Pogacars samlede tid mere end et minut efter Jonas Vingegaard var spændingen i Tour de France-titlen forbi. Højdepunktet i Tour de France er dog løbets proces, og det endelige resultat er også alle kørernes præstation.

"My Fair Lady" at the Orpheum Theatre

When Shaw wrote Pygmalion, he most decidedly did NOT intend it to be a love story. At least not a love story about a budding romance between street urchin Eliza Doolittle and the grand and haughty Professor Henry Higgins. It was a satire on classism and privilege. But when Lerner and Loewe got hold of it, it lost much of its bite. (But gained some gorgeous music!)

While it's still a charming musical distraction from the troubles of our contemporary world, director Bartlett Sher has added back in some of the sharpness Shaw intended. Spoiler alert, Higgins and Eliza don't walk hand in hand into the sunset.

On top of all that, the staging is magnificent, the costumes sumptuous, and the cast brilliant. But go read my full review at TalkinBroadway.
