to preface this post i am anti-advertising i think we should explode the entire industry but it's sooo funny when you people make posts like "and they don't even work!!" like. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but yes they do. that's why we have to put up with so many despite everyone hating them and thinking its annoying. because they actually work really well and make a shit load of money

#it actually would be way better if they didnt work and made no money bc businesses would abandon them #this isnt like stocks where everythings abstract and is essentially gambling (i dont understand stocks) #like ppl in the ad industry create things. that make a tangible and quantifiable impact on the business #which is then used in further ad planning. it is NOT all smoke and mirrors #like its fake in that the industry is not providing a necessary service the way like. grocery stores are #but its not the level of fake where everything is abstract like theres deliverables #moreover there is an extensive body of academic work specifically on how to make ads more effective #ALSO i think some of u views ads like. as if they have a win condition. which is you buy product #but in current advertising this is pretty rare and comparatively ineffective #which is why you see MANY ads which dont seem to be selling anything in particular. or which have nothing all to do with the product #the 'win' condition for THAT kind of ad is something more like 'viewers remember our name' #like. ex i would say ads for temu have not been effective on me bc i havent bought anything from them #but temu probably thinks they were SUPER effective on me because i talked abt them like 5 different times at work #and i do in fact know exactly what the company does and what they sell #and they were able to capitalize on the reputations of existing companies (wish shein etc) to build their own brand #good idea generator

Yesterday's poll decided that The Adventurer should join the travelers on the larger river boat for a short lunch ...

"Before he even fully musters the courage to shout a 'hello', the large group on the boat initiates contact first, gleefully waving at him, whooping and shouting as they near his tiny raft in the water. Apparently, some of them were betting over whether they'd actually find any other travelers out on the river today.. He fumbles over his words a bit, as always, but somehow manages to successfully get himself invited onto their boat for a quick lunch..

After safely securing his raft to the side of the boat with some spare rope, he climbs aboard, stumbling into the excitement of some sort of celebration. A few of them explain that they're traveling for 'kahesallei', an old elven holiday recently re-popularized in some of the larger cities nearby. Whatever it's true meaning and origins used to be, the current significance (at least to those within the city walls) seems to just be mindless feasting, drinking, and gaudy decor. Most of the traveling group are strangers to each other, only brought together by catching a ride on the same tour/party boat, but the mood is light, quite friendly between them, and perhaps a bit drunk.

While the boat itself is relatively plain wood, it's been strewn with gold and orange banners, flags, shimmery tassels, beads, and bushels of dark green ivy braided with fresh herbs and wildflowers. There are flat round tables of food and drink, plenty of cushions to lounge on, and one random guy perched precariously on the edge railing of the boat, gently strumming a lute for background music..

The elderly ship captain hobbles over to The Adventurer, sternly explaining that, no matter what the 'silly' passengers say, he's only allowed to stay for an hour because he didn't pay for a boat ride ticket, and thus really shouldn't even be allowed on board. By the time The Adventurer has mentally processed this information, the captain has already returned to his little steering room, slamming the door shut with a displeased grunt.. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to confront him or question the rules...... But! Hey, at least he has one hour at the party.. How should he spend his time? "

I can't even do five simple things in 2 weeks lol. I did start some new supplements and change my diet since #my doctors are still trying to sort out what health issues are going on or etc. so maybe it's something with that #like accidentally on the new diet I'm not getting enough calories or not getting enough of some vitamin or something so it's made me oddly #brain foggy and just really tired and unable to focus well for the past few weeks or something..? ANYWYA. not really sure what #it is specifically but my functioning in terms of actually focusing on and completing tasks has been a lot worse . thus #chronically behind on things. which I am always chronically behind on things in some sense since I always have like 7000 projects #I'm working on at the same exact time and etc. lol. but like.. even more chronically behind than usual .. ToT #ANYWAY.. I'm suprised that the 'try to get a ride on the boat' option didn't get that many votes actually lol #Like.. treveling down a river in a tiny handmade raft is probably.. not extremely safe or efficient lol #But at least he gets to have lunch there. Just the hour that he's on the boat doing whatever will get him a lot further because the boat #is moving faster than his raft would be. It should still get him out of the river and back on track sooner. Because he still has a long way #to go to get to the abandoned castle. I know it's been a lot of days since I'm not keeping up well with actually doing these #daily or every other day - but technically in the story it's only been a little over a day since he left the Inn #The first day he just walked. the second day he saw there was a barrier in his path. then spent half the day building a boat. and now he'e #*he's where he is now. The trip is roughly 4 days and he's like.. a little over halfway through his second. Not counting any detours or #distractions he might run into. But at least at this pace he should be off the river before it starts to get dark #Thate the main thing. you want to get a good rest on solid ground. ideally. So long as nothing strange happens on the boat #but yeah! day 10.. of little elf man adventure... ALSO he is like early 20s I imagine. so he can drink hbhjbjh #I know the 'very quick simple ms paint style' is kind of chibi-ish so it makes people look young but he's not a boy #don't worry. I didnt want it to seem weird like some 10 year old kid walking into a party of drunk 30 year olds #like a toddler hanging out in a night club or whatever. It's safe and okay for him to be there. just for the record. lol #I mean maybe not SAFE safe. it's still a boat of like.. rowdy party goers who could easily fall over the edge into the water or whatever bu #but like.. safe in the sense that he's not a 6 year old being offered vodka by strangers at a party. etc. #despite his goofy nervous demeanor and chronic baby face syndrome he is indeed an actual adult somehow ghbj

one of my favorite parts of the day is emerging from my nest of blankets outside in the woods & blearily stumbling over to let the dogs out of the cabin that they live in but i don't & watching them sprint around the farm together getting caught up on all the smells that happened overnight

#another favorite is when i stumble into the outhouse to pee at 2 am and make direct eye contact with the opossum who lives in it #and when the jays we feed wake me up at dawn by perching three inches from my nest and yelling #sundog (white dog with bobbed tail) and chickenhawk (not pictured) are the only ones who really live inside #volshka (large white dog with black muzzle) lives fully outside and breq (small & tricolor) lives wherever co-farmer lives #which currently is in the car running errands during the day & in an abandoned building at night #i really enjoy the absurdity of all my life choices. did you know you can just do whatever you want forever #if i was making sane and sensible choices i would probably be living in a hospital / institution by now. but you see the thing is #i don't WANNA. i want to live in my car / outside in the woods / in abandoned buildings with my pack of dogs and be a weird insane cryptid #so we're just figuring out how to manage feeding tube & mobility impairment & immunodeficiency #& constant life-threatening medical emergencies & etc while living outside. and i will die ecstatic. live fast die young touch grass #(the local emergency responders hate us. i do so many things Against Medical Advice. i am happy though.) #possum posts

I love just abandoning Elden Ring playthroughs I'm just like "okay that's enough" and start a new game...I've been playing Elden Ring almost nonstop (with a little mass effect break) since I got it in November and it's now June. And I'm still like...hm I think I'm done with this strength/int endeavor I want to try blasphemous paladin again

#I just love roleplaying a sad paladin learning their oath is kind of shit #and trying but failing to abandon it and instead striking a balance where they redefine their oath for themselves #which isn't. *really* a paladin. In the DnD sense. There's Consequences to breaking an oath there isn't it? which is very fun actually #but this isn't DnD #me vs elden ring #I'm always captivated by the concept of what it means to have faith in the world of dark souls #where objectively factually the things you have faith in are failing/have failed and fallen #and the figures central to your religion turn out to be flawed and human #and yet at the same time miracles are tangible things and your faith allows you to heal and defend yourself and spread blessings #what is 'faith' in this scenario exactly? Faith in what? #I can never make a dumb faith build who just walks forward with entirely blind belief I always have to angst it a bit #in dark souls I always lean back towards it being faith *in* the miracles. The tales of the gods you recite to receive their blessing #or copy their abilities with lightning spear etc. #Elden Ring is especially funny of course because faith allows you all kinds of incantations. And I think the fact that you have all kinds o #incantations. MOST of which are kind of blasphemous and have nothing to do with the Erdtree itself #and yet you can cast them just the same as any other incantation #is an interesting concept to me. For a character to struggle with. #Alongside the whole 'Marika was the one who shattered the Elden Ring' thing. #I also like making devoted faith knights who swear oaths and are secretly really repressed gay boys. #what if I wielded a blasphemous blade of unholy flame and you wielded a sliver of a cold dark moon and we were both boys

Inz has a bad habit of leaving without telling anyone. And she’s done it again. Where’s she gone?

She doesn’t know either, she’s completely lost in some abandoned seeming and eerily quiet city. Smog covers the entire town and is so thick she can barely see anything more than a couple of metres in front of her.

She’d initially chased something or someone into the place but they’d disappeared, seemingly knowing their route through the brumous city, and she was left wandering.

She could fly out…but the problem is she doesn’t know how high to fly up until she can get out of the smoke, and if she flies out she could just fly straight into a building or some bird or something. Going on foot is better for her, she could at least hear anyone coming towards her if not see them.

Every time you make a post about yourself I’m reminded of how fucking similar we are and it’s always something new and it’s so weird. Like I vent my issues through creative works but sometimes I’ll write it and it’ll take me months to realize that’s a problem I even have. I have several projects about the character (basically my self fucking insert let’s be real) being unfeeling at least out worldly or their powers or whatever they’ve got causes them to have no emotions or they were raised that they literally cannot show emotions (🤨 that’s a real project I’ve had for years. Idk how we are the same person) and therefore don’t. But one that I have in particular has a scene where the MC is watching his sister cry in their mom’s arms and he’s just thinking “how could she let herself be so vulnerable? Isn’t she embarrassed?” And later he realizes he was also somewhat jealous bc while they share a mom, she never lets him be anything but a punching bag and he has to be emotionless. This is totally not based on a real experience whatsoever and I have a normal relationship with my family *eye twitches*. This is so many words to say that I get that a lot. Even when I’m struggling I’d have my mom be like “you’re such an asshole why can’t you just snap yourself out of it” or thinking she’s being lighthearted by going “this is why all your friends leave you” and I’m like ah. I’m never saying anything ever again. Also ah, I come across like an ass when I’m just some guy in my head and in places where I’m relaxed and have the energy to be how I actually am/want to be (close friends, online, etc.). Basically this is so fucking long to say that I get the same shit that you do and it’s garbage, but like everyone else has said I don’t think you’re unfeeling. I get a sense of like camaraderie? Like “same hat” kind of thing, I get what you mean when you say literally anything because I get it? If you were so cold hearted, I think that wouldn’t be a thing because you’d just be nothing, there wouldn’t be anything to relate to? But yeah, I’m shaking your hand. I genuinely don’t know how we are one person split in two, it sounds like I’m just making shit up but I stg I have not lied in your inbox as of yet - 🫐

#I was on a pirate ship and abandoned/sold to three people living on a desert island. with my cat #(also my mother showed up later? #) #only the shack connected howls moving castle style to two rooms filled with mundane and magic books #which we were all now trapped in #which at various points/windows/etc again in Howl style connected to either a mundane house in the city #or a fantasy land with japanese influences (they would sometimes visit us through a usually locked door) #eventually by investigating how my cat could be seen through a window #since we only had access to the deserted island door which did not attach to that window #I discovered some loose boards which lead to the mundane house #and we were hence no longer trapped #& then converted to building to a grand and magical library which we explored for a bit before I woke up
