A Golden Reminder
This is little fic comes from the Wolf Father and Werehog Son concept in my main blog. As for the focus itself, it's based on this particular boss from Sonic Frontiers: Giganto. Don't know if this counts as spoilers since it's practically spammed in the commercials.
An otherworldly and dangerous beast is unleashed on the Chain. When all seems lost, Twilight's son Sonic, reminds them just how powerful hope is.
Time knows that being the Hero of Courage meant they must fight horrors beyond their comprehension. Whether it was a monster behind mask of man or abominations that seek only destruction... Every single incarnation in their small strange group were forced to combat it.
Well, not everyone was a Link. The Hero of Twilight actually had a pretty big and unique family before the Chain step foot in his Hyrule, all 21 being his adopted children. Eighteen were otherworldly fairies called Wisps with each bearing a color to match their incredibly diverse powers. They didn't stay often as most return to Ordona Village after helping.
Last three of Twilight's children were much different. As the Rito were avian and Zora were fish like species, these Mobians seem to be mostly mammals specifically the ranch hand's sons. The oldest was a red echidna named Knuckles. An honorable warrior bearing incredible physical power as he can destroy even a Talus in one punch.
Youngest son was a two tailed yellow fox affectionately given the nickname Tails. His real name was Miles Prowler but there felt like a story to it as the fox hated being called that. Tails was the mischievous genius inventor of the family, creating various advanced gadgets, able to fly using his tails and even his own airborne traveling vessel: an 'airplane' named the Tornado.
Finally there is the second oldest but probably the biggest enigma to Time. Fastest thing alive, blue blur and Twilight's first son Sonic the Hedgehog. A kindhearted smart aleck with a love for speed. Like the ranch hand, Sonic greatly cared about the well-being of others and very accepting individual.
Especially with races that were viewed illy such as the Gerudo and newly welcomed Twili. Time couldn't forget Sonic's more beastly form: the Werehog. A fitting contrast to his human father's wolf form.
The Hero of Twilight's children had faced their own monstrous horrors. However...this THING that stood before them couldn't have felt so wrong. Time didn't know how fast a moment of calm vanish as violently like this. Wild had been making lunch for the group whilst everyone was chatting amongst themselves.
There was little warning for darkness had instantly flooded the ground below their feet then hurled everyone into the sky. A peaceful grassland now a large grassy ravine surrounded by cliffs. It only got worse as they all saw the massive titan waiting for them below. An enormous black-gray metal humanoid that could match the Divine Beasts' from Wild's era in size alone.
Red energy traversed the titan's broad torso and shoulders which made it's slender thin arms alongside it's slender lower body feel otherworldly. A build that forcefully had the creature hunched. Hands had three fingers but the feet ended in round stumps. Long neck held it's head which was more of a massive mouth with layers for flat nested jawlike teeth that parted away like waves. The only 'eyes' it had were indentations across the massive body.
Otherworldly Colossus, Giganto
"Knuckles! Tails! Keep everyone safe!" It was these words that made Time reach for the Fierce Deity's Mask. Yet Sonic proved too fast as the hedgehog immediately blown the group away with a powerful woven vortex. The harsh gust of air propelled the heroes over to a cliff, the young fox deploying little drones to catch any Link who couldn't glide down on their own.
Something that left Sonic the only one in the giant's way. The moment Time hit the ground, he went straight for the mask once more. None of them could fight something like that. It's size alone made it too dangerous to get close and they would still be in attack range even using arrows. No one could survive a blow from something so gigantic except for the Fierce Deity.
Time was however stopped when a spiky gloved hand grabbed his wrist. He could only stare at Knuckles in pure disbelief. "What are you doing?! Sonic is gonna die!" The adamance in the echidna's violet eyes didn't dim one bit.
"Child of the Owls isn't helpless as one may think. Leaving will put everyone in danger if you intervene, Hero of Time. Now watch." He couldn't help opening his pale white eye upon the echidna's declaration. Time turn to see Sonic spin dash into Giganto's face.
Unfazed, the titan swung its giant arms trying to swat the hedgehog away. Blue blur swiftly dove under the right limb, spun between the dip in the left hand's fingers, and shot upwards into the monster's chin. It was like watching someone try to swat a fly.
The hedgehog would whisk past the colossus' strike and counterattack. But like a fly, his attacks barely did any damage. Quills sharp enough to shred steel crashed harmlessly against Giganto's metallic body. Yet, Sonic didn't stop his assault as he homing attacked the inhuman face, rapidly kick the fingers and stomp his massive opponent.
"Go Sonic! Tear that thing to pieces!" Tails and Wind were the only ones vocally cheering for the hedgehog. Knuckles held just as much faith followed by Twilight who seem a bit worried. Everyone else had the same stance like Time. Legend was probably the worse from the white knuckle grip on his hat.
A shared sentiment when Giganto manage to snare Sonic in its right hand. The hedgehog had gone for another spin dash to the head but the giant must've foresaw it. "SONIC!!!" Hero of Time was about to pry his hand from Knuckles grip and reach for the mask when he felt it. An harsh yet familiar burning sensation that overtook his hand.
The very thing every Link been cursed to bear, the Triforce of Courage shone brightly for all to see. It was resonating with another piece, specifically a fragment never held by the heroes or their respective Zeldas. The piece cursed to every era's greatest evil, the Triforce of Power. But who...?
Pure golden light suddenly exploded within Giganto's closed hand, one so powerful that the giant stumble back. It definitely came from the Triforce of Power never like this. When held by Ganondorf, it's sacred aura had rot in pure malice and greed. What they were feeling is the piece's original aura. Warm like gentle sunlight yet brimming with a familiar kindness and energy similar to...
Everyone nearly froze for something gently descended before Giganto like a god from the heavens. It was Sonic well albeit completely different. That sapphire blue fur now a brilliant glowing gold, emerald green eyes exchanged for fiery rubies and his large quills stood up almost like spikes. Shining brilliantly on the hedgehog's right glove was the Triforce of Power itself.
"Twilight!! What the hell is going on??! Why does Sonic have a piece of the Triforce, specifically Power?!" It was rare for Hyrule to lash out much less with older members of the group. Then again, the Traveller is very close to Sonic as if brothers. With a loud sigh that sounded like a mix of relief and exhaustion Twilight spoke.
"I felt the same way too when I found out. You can blame the gods. As for what happened, this is one of Sonic's forms created by the Triforce of Power, Super Sonic! I only saw it once but I can tell you that monster is finished."
Indifferent to its opponents' transformation, Giganto swiftly swung at the golden hedgehog. Sonic watched the limb fly towards and with a confident smile caught the giant's hand! He then shove forward knocking Giganto off balance before spin dashing its teeth in.
Sonic didn't let up either, circling around his opponent so fast a trail of gold followed behind. When a complete ring was made it exploded into a golden typhoon that ruthlessly launch Giganto high in the sky. Fists, feet and Sonic doppelgangers born of gold energy rain down to smite the helpless giant from all directions.
Super Sonic alongside a doppelganger platoon descended onto Giganto like a makeshift bomb as a massive explosion tore burst forth upon impact. No one had ever witness such an immense display of power, specifically Time himself. He experienced the Fierce Deity's strength but never unleashing carnage on this scale.
A thought that made the man glance warily at the hidden mask. Could... could the war god trapped inside be capable of such destruction??? Time's focus came back on the clash before them. Giganto had gotten up and it was clear that it wouldn't take Sonic lightly anymore.
Dark crimson rods sprung forth from hidden compartments across the titan's broad back, every one blasting out thick hot pink energy beams. A vicious display of power before it lunged at Super Sonic way than before. The hedgehog answer back by wildly zigzagging across the sky and body slamming into the giant's chest.
Giganto skidded across the ground, it's stumps tore through the dirt to keep the colossus from falling. This made it easier to open its mouth and fire back a massive laser straight at Sonic. Quickly the golden hedgehog held his hands out grasping the blast of energy.
Despite it's immense power, Sonic manage to shove the beam upwards into the sky where it exploded harmlessly. The hedgehog shot forward and flew straight towards the giant's laser spewing back. Skillfully wove across the pink pillars as he knitted a trail of golden light around each dark red module.
Like a sewing needle, Sonic closed his thread which brutally slicing Giganto's back rods and it's extra power. The monster harshly screamed as explosions tore holes throughout its back until it was swiss cheese. Just the opening Sonic needed to deliver the final blow.
He shot upwards so fast that the hedgehog practically reach the edges of space itself and stars hidden by day's vale. Like a shooting star, Sonic dove down straight back to earth as the golden light around his body grew brighter. Only when 30 meters was between him and Giganto, the hedgehog immediately looped around before he pierce through the giant's torso.
Reminiscent to an Arrow of Light, the colossus went up in a massive golden explosion leaving nothing behind. Everyone on the cliffside roared in cheers as their companion came out victorious and alive. While Sonic flew back to his comrades, Time could only contemplate the show of power belonging to gods.
And that's it! I been wanting to write this ever since I beat the Giganto boss in Sonic Frontiers. The boss fights in this game are insane and I might've added a few flairs to this version than the canon version.
I wrote it mostly in Time's viewpoint cause unlike the other Links, he truly experienced a god's power through himself. The Fierce Deity's Mask made those who wear a vessel to the sealed god's strength, much closer than Zelda channelling Hylia's power. Yet, he never really dished out something on this scale seen in Sonic's fight.
I headcanon that the aura of the Triforce changes depending on who wields it, similar to the Chaos Emeralds. Malevolence would twist into something coldly ill while kindness and purity leads to a kind warmth. Basically a harsh blizzard versus a cozy campfire.
For why Knuckles held Time back, if Giganto's attacks got past Sonic then everyone would have been in danger. Fierce Deity is the only one that could counter should it happen. Knuckles came from a warrior tribe so he knows opponents would go for the weakest links(pun not intended) in a fight like this.
That's all I have for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you back in Hyrule as we seek these new frontiers.

Days 16-19
Wow, its really been a while since I posted.
Thursday and Friday were extensively class time, with the first half of Thursday being Prof. Dunn’s last lecture for us. We did a heavy review/reflection on what we saw at Illy Caffe and Zegna fabrics, and afterwards, were treated to a lecture from Professor Marina Puricelli of the Bocconi Business School in Milan. She gave us a very interesting lecture on the Italian Economic Model, and stressed how it was incredibly different from the US model in that it was rooted in smaller enterprises, passed on through generations from an original “entrepreneurial” leader, and focused in traditional manufacturing industries. Marina also mentioned that the nation was slowly shifting away from this, and only four classes in the Bocconi program talk about Small Businesses or Family Businesses.
After a short coffee break, we continued the lecture and learned about what strategies made companies strong in the international market. She used several examples of northern companies, but mentioned an exodus of people from the south – something she didn’t seem to completely advocate against with the “mob”. Interestingly enough, this might have been due in part to the Marshal Plan and influence of American economic policy on the north, who have been subsequently able to grow larger and more competitive in the international market, while companies in the south remain highly regionalized enterprises.
When Marina finished her lecture, we all went our separate ways for lunch. Upon arriving back in the studio, Marina was gone, but we did have a new guest who worked for IDEO, Dario. Dario is an interesting person with a very different lecture style than the other professors, and after working one way straight for nearly two weeks, it was difficult to change gears. However, we are also switching from the visits portion of this class to the project portion, which could have also attributed to the abrupt discontinuity in style.
We continued with Dario on Friday, before being let go for a great group lunch and dinner. My roommate, some other classmates and I bought tickets for next Wednesday’s opera, Carmen, at the Roman theater, which should be really awesome! Later on that night we also learned we were going to have a few changes in week 3 of the program, going from interviews with local people to two more company visits with professor John Bruce of the Parsons School of Design.
On Saturday, I went back to Bologna to meet Mark, and I also took my roommate, Andy. We visited the Botanical Gardens, Anatomical Waxes Museum, the very eclectic museum (where there’s a military history section, physics section, and fetal development room), in addition to various geological museums and the town hall. After Mark had to leave, Andy and I visited the 9/11 Park and a church, before sitting in a bar to escape the heat until our train was due to arrive.
We both woke up incredibly late on Sunday, and bought tickets for the bus to Lazise on Lake Garda. We grabbed lunch at a Fish & Chips place, before walking up the coast towards Bardolino. Along the way, we stopped at one really small “beach” and jumped in the water to escape the heat and sun, before the waves picked up too much and our stuff almost got soaked. Later in the day, we the water once again at a more proper beach, where we floated around for a few hours. Once the clouds started coming in, we made haste towards Bardolino and got drinks from an over-the-water bar.
During the few minutes we were there, the waves and wind started picking up and the clouds turned grey, sending the staff every which-way to close down shop. Almost immediately after taking the final picture, the clouds started to swirl a bit similarly to a tornado, and the waves were hitting the second and third row of tables, so we split. Upon our walk to the bus stop, it started raining, and then hailing pebble-sized pieces of hail.
The bus was 10 minutes late, and proceeded to become more and more delayed during the trip as accidents occurred on the side of the road and the police made everyone vacate the lake. However, upon arriving back in Verona, it was pretty sunny (though wet), and the perfect temperature to get Gelato and wine :D.
