despite all my criticisms abt tlovm i will say one thing i really appreciate is it really leaning into its character writing in a way that an improv campaign just cant quite manage. be it really small/quick moments (like percy immediately aiming his gun at himself during his possession out of sheer desperation is such a strong moment imo) or the way they have been structuring overarching storylines (really zeroing in on vaxs dependence on vex and placing the flashbacks right before The Incident was genuinely fantastic). it just gets me to feel the kinds of intense emotions the og campaign doesnt really get out of me like ever

#tlovm #listen i still have many gripes with the writing of the show but i appreciate the things it does right #as far as the main story itself and the pacing go i think the campaign is still far better #just because like. matt is a wonderful storyteller and trying to condense his gigantic world & huge arcs into like #a season of tv is fucking impossible lol you just cant do it #and ofc the cast themselves still has plenty of strong scenes of improv in the campaign itself #but i just feel like the show being able to plan things out is such a huge advantage for it #like that scene with the twins hits so much stronger with the way the show paced it #the downside of the format being that anything that requires longer build up just wont hit as hard as it did in the campaign #like the detail with grog and his beard was cute in the show but #watching him try to grow that fucking thing over many many episodes in the campaign just hit different #i will say either way i appreciate that the show exists like. its so fucking cool to have the story in animated form #its not perfect and it could be a lot better but my ass is still just hyped to see my babies moving on the screen
