Hello lovely friendos!

As you've probably noticed, I've been pretty MIA as of late - your beef is doing better, but healing takes time. My IRL job (I know, how dare beefin' on this site not be my real job) has consumed a lot of the brainpower I would normally use to write and hang out here. Norbert my depression goblin, bless him, has been better behaved than normal, but he's still shifty as all get out and needs constant monitoring.

I have a few fics coming down the pipeline and I am excited to get them out to you, including but not limited to [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]. Oh! and Chubby![redacted] will officially be joining the Bistro very soon as the news P-boy. 🥵🫠🥡

WIP Wednesday

Long ago I posted a WIP snippet of vampire Joel talking to a librarian, and I've axed that version in favor of a librarian with more personality/potential.

He sighs and opens it. Her message just says “Joel,” then a picture comes through. His stomach drops. It’s his search history. About taking care of adult human women and keeping them from running away. She must have taken it darkly. She would.

“God damnit,” he quietly curses himself. Of course he didn’t clear it. He didn’t even log off. God, he's an idiot. She's typing. Joel's heart is racing. She stops, then starts again, and he presses the heels of his palms into his temples. What now? Should he call her? She wouldn't tell anyone, but – Her message comes through with a woosh: “this is what librarians are for”

“Ha," he scoffs with the slightest smile. He shakes his head and turns the lock screen off without answering. He’s cautiously relieved, but a little worried too - He's seen her at her worst. God, he hopes that was her worst. What does she want?

Another message comes in: “let me help you"

Tah-tah 2023!

I can be a sentimental beef sometimes, but I will try to keep that to a minimum for brevity’s sake.

When I joined this community as the Beefro you know, I was struck by how quickly people were willing to interact and engage - randomly appearing in my inbox and dm’s. Some of the people I’ve met on here have become such dear friends to me over the past six months that I consider them just as important as the ones I have face-to-face interactions with. I’ve never been apart of an online community in this way before and I’m thankful.

I'm thankful for not only the people I've met, but for Pedro bringing us together. And for the absolutory depraved smut he has inspired us to expel and devour. Seriously. I have never felt so... so... full of yearning for a fictional character, enough so to propel me into writing an AU about him in a Boston.

All jokes aside, though, I am even more thankful for the hard work you have put into the pieces of fiction that deserve far more recognition that this hellsite can muster. I have have laughed, cried, screamed, wailed, felt joy and sorrow, felt fulfilled and empty from the fics I have read this year, and I cannot wait to see what you have for 2024.

I know that for many, 2023 threw lemons the size of blue whales at you and I’m thankful that you’re here and still sharing with us! I’m grateful for your vulnerability and to see that we are not alone in our hurt. I think this year, I’ve learned that ‘Misery loves company’ is not about finding others to fester with; it’s about getting through with the support of your mutual strugglers. I love this take. And I love you.

Another lesson I have learned is to not be competitive. I have a fantastic core community here in the Bistro and #beefro-is-blessed. But that doesn’t stop the little nagging voice that says ‘you’ll never have that many followers’ or ‘you’re too niche for your fics to get any more interactions’ when I see the engagement other writers get. I’m learning to be ignorant to that voice because I write for me. And for you (if you want it. If not, I love you anyway). And everyone in this community deserves to be celebrated for their contributions and achievements, no matter how big or small.

I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, but you’ve never been anything but kind. This reformed emo loner never knew this could be a thing and I don’t take this for granted. My resolution for 2024 is to be more present and supportive of the community that reminded me how much I love storytelling. And also, to go to space…

Oh look at me going on… brevity’s sake indeed.

As some of you Friendos already know, I have been hella stressed with work & am now dealing with a dastardly sinus/ear infection. It's not been great as of late, hence the lack of writing/fics being posted. I am okay, just a little overwhelmed. I have not forgotten about On the Waterfront or any of the other P-boys (chubby or lean). I just need to get out of my head a bit.

The THOT TANK is still open - send in your nasties! I love reading them and I love being able to respond! I love interacting with all y'all and it brings a great deal of joy to me. The fact that y'all tag me if there is a slight wiff of tummy warms the cockles of my cold heart.

With all the (un)confirmed news about Peepaw's casting in the new Fantastic Four, I need to make something clear: I adore this man and will watch the shit out of anything he is a part of. I support his career choices and respect the decades of hard work he has had to put in to this industry to get where he is. I will never shit on him for his career moves.

I may be drunk(ish... i ate some bread, so I'm feeling more sober), but it doesn't make my love for all the friendos in the Bistro any less potent.

I love our little community & I am thankful for how supportive we all are of one another. I know many of you are travelling for the holidays now, and I hope you get to where you're going safely!

And there are other friendos who might be put into hard situations this season.
