Thinking a lot this morning about how Souta's demisexuality is being unpacked in Zenra Meshi (Naked Dining) and the struggle he has to figure out if he is actually into a specific person romantically and sexually because same? Like this show is actually making me face some things I've maybe avoided my whole life. Really not knowing until you 'check' is so real, and how people can feel manipulated by that when it absolutely is not your intention. How it's sometimes easier to avoid the whole question of sex and romance when you know that you care about someone because the figuring out how you care can be so fraught. How sometimes you go for it and then realise it's a 'no' but then feel trapped and guilty about stringing the other person along (which is where I THINK the Shimizu arc is going but I could be wrong).

Yeah...I'm gonna think about this a whole lot more but I think this show is clarifying a lot of things for me personally.

Naked Dining with Colors!

Did y'all realize Japan is super sly with color coding?

That's right! Naked Dining's Souta and Mahiro are color-coded boys in love.

Look at Souta's ties (blue).

Look at his boss's ties (red).

The tie trick was done in Cherry Magic as well, but that's not the only part that is color-coded. Souta's phone is blue to really emphasize he is a Blue Boy.

While Mahiro's phone case is green.

Because the show needs us to know that he is a Green Guy, but what else would we expect from the grower and seller of produce?!

We have Souta's grandma and her color-coded potholders to thank for this colors magic.

Because she gave Souta a blue bento box, which he gave to Mahiro when they were in school, and that Green Guy has had a crush on that Blue Boy ever since.

Oh, I almost forgot! Shimizu is also color-coded!

Yet, she is shifting . . .

Because she might have a little crush on a Blue Boy, but I think that other office guy likes her because he has yellow in his ties.

So why am I telling you this now? Because our color-coded boys are already starting to lose their color due to the *kiss*

So let's see how long it takes them to get them back.

- Suh Yechan from Love Tractor. Is there any better Good Boy than Certified Golden Retriever Boy Yechan?? I think not. He deserves at least two gold stars imo.

- Tian from To Sir, With Love. He’s just the goodest boy, never did anything bad in his life, love his family even when they barely deserve it, just wants to be respected and happy. 100/10 no notes.

- Woo Seunghyun from The New Employee. Absolute cinnamon roll, adorable, cute, never did anything wrong in his life, cheeks to die for, gold star for him. (may have to do in part with the actor, who also was a fantastically good - if terribly sad - boy in Once Again)

- Ichijo Sota from Zenra Meshi. He’ll forever be my favorite blade of tall grass, and despite sometimes being the most awkward man alive, he was also trying so hard to understand and make things right!! A good boy for sure.

- Ye Xingsi from History 4: Close to You. Sweetest man, loved his friend and his family so much, deserved so much better than the hand he was dealt in that show. Big gold star for him.

Ichijo is falling in love with Mahiro but Mahiro has loved him for a long time but Ichijo seems to be so oblivious to his own feelings that he might have loved Mahiro almost as long... I do enjoy these two, especially Ichijo who's slowly turning out to be a better and better person (the awkward hug at the start of the episode turning into him preventing another hug because he has every reason to believe Mahiro doesn't like hugs but also jealousy just perfectly encapsulates how he approaches the world and his own feelings.)
