"Greece is making hundreds of beaches wheelchair-friendly by installing the Greek-designed Seatrac system for wheelchairs.
The system is a free service that offers unassisted sea access to people with disabilities and mobility issues. It is an innovative, technological assistant that promotes autonomy, quality, and wellness in everyday life.
Speaking at a press conference on the project on Thursday, officials said that a total of 287 beaches across Greece will be fully accessible to people with mobility problems by introducing other essential facilities like parking, bathroom/changing facilities, ramps and corridors to sun loungers, and refreshment bars.
Officials said that 147 beaches have already undergone the necessary transformation to make them more accessible.
“Equal access to the sea is an inalienable human right,” said Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias, adding that the 15-million-euro project is being funded by the European Union and national resources...
Greece tries to become more wheelchair-friendly
Disabled people in Greece face the challenge that the country was not designed for people in wheelchairs. Even before uneven streets and steps were created, the topography of the country was rocky and mountainous.
The country has made great strides for disabled persons’ ease of movement and access since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
It recently placed concrete in some pathways of the Acropolis despite opposition from archaeologists.
“It’s a crime to wound the Rock, because it’s a monument,” architect Tasos Tanoulas said at the time.
According to the Ministry of Culture, the cementing of certain areas was part of a project to help people with mobility difficulties.
“The disabled, the elderly, people with various problems have the right to see and admire up close the Acropolis monuments,” a statement said at the time.
People with mobility issues hailed the project.
“We’ve been talking about disabled access to the Acropolis since the 2004 Olympics,” said Yiannis Vardakastanis, president of the Confederation of Disabled People.
“Now we can say that any disabled person in the world who wants to visit the Acropolis can do so,” he added.

The Bigot
"They offer nothing to us that we haven't already!" Snapped the well dressed vulptanis, Xingta. Dismissing the preposterous suggestion of submitting yet another human study, although this one was more invasive.
"But we could still learn from their culture, their history. They are not clones or copies from something else." Retorted the vulptanis in green, Xingta's rival in academics. Xingta rolled his eyes before gripping the podium in front of him and pointing a blunt claw back at the idiot. How they had gotten their doctorate he had no idea.
"Nonsense! Our histories are longer than theirs!" Xingta swept a hand at the anatomy pictures of the crit'yun behind him. "The crit'yun have histories that span back to before human ancestors had gills! Why would we not devote these resources to a worthier cause? Such as a crit'yun study?"
The debate was on the final distribution of an approval ticket for a study. It was down to Xingta's crit'yun study or Xupa's study on humans. Whoever won this ticket would be set for the foreseeable future, while the other would risk falling into obscurity.
Whatever the vote, Xingta's final comment hit a nerve and Xupa cracked first, their hands gripping their own podium so tightly the wood cracked as they hissed over it at Xingta.
"Your theories are the result of a drug addled mind, and your citations are spelt wrong!"
That hurt, the small gasp in the auditorium along with a ripple of concerned murmuring confirmed Xingta's expectation that this would not win Xupa the popular votes.
But that didn't mean he couldn't strike back. Effects of 'raised blood' and all that.
"Your thesis would owe my rear an apology if I used it as a wipe!" He snarled, which gained him a series of 'oohs'. Unfortunately, the sniping match was entered with the sticking of a gavel.
"Silence! The speakers will render onto themselves and maintain civility in in this hall! We have heard your arguments and will confer. You are all dismissed. The doctors will not engage with one another for the rest of the day by our order. You will do well as to go home." Ordered the eldest vulptanis and inventor of the Hycene Inverse Halso system. His invention had catapulted him into the prestigious position he now occupied as per vulptanis culture. It was just lucky that he was a fine judge of educational merit, if that was all he was good for.
Xingta gathered his things and swept from the hall. He was offered best wishes from many of the gallery occupants who saw him in the hallways as he made his way home until he all but crashed into Xupa.
Their face was a snarl as they spat and spoke at Xingta who maintained a more stoic appearance.
"Your prejudice against the humans has gone too far! By the time we have a consensus to investigate these creatures, what unique information we could gleam from them will be diluted by other cultures!"
Xinga rolled his eyes, infuriating the vulptanis further.
"And? Why should I care for their culture? It is not in my interest to waste my time on a species that had yet to break free from their own atmosphere!"
Xinga's distain for humans was the talk of the university. Where everyone else was trying to find an angle, to find something they could turn into a new discovery they could use to increase their standing, Xingta was famous for telling all those who would listen to ignore this foolish line of discovery and focus on more useful endeavours.
"They had broken free from their atmosphere! They had a space station! They even had the beginnings of space tourism! Isn't that-"
"No. No it's not. I can name you three types of krad who have been capable of escaping their own world's gravity. Do you want to form a study on these krad's cultures?" Xingta interrupted with a bored tone. The krads in question were non-sentient crustations, crustations found on every life supporting planet that had any amount of moisture.
"Xupa, I don't care about humans. They bore me and should bore everyone else. Now get out of my way."
Xingta shouldered past Xupa as she screamed 'bigot' at his back. He allowed that title to sit on his shoulders.
== 0 ==
As Xingta got home he smiled softly as he got the feeling that he was about to be given his grant. By applying pressure to his opponent, he showed their weakness of mind and desperation. Two things that did not bode well for a council voting for who they wished to support with their final ticket of the year.
"Xing?" Came a soft voice.
"It's me, where are you?"
"Bedroom!"
The vulptanis stripped as he walked, folding the academic clothes over his arm until all that was left were his glasses as he entered the bedroom. On the bed, was a human. She lowered the data slate she had in her hand as Xingta lay back on the bed until he was laying by her ankles.
She smiled at him in her odd way of showing teeth.
"Remind me again why you do it that way." He asked softly.
"It's a throw back to our animalistic ancestors. We show teeth as a sign of happiness or submission. 'I'm friendly'." She explained calmly. Xingta knew this, he listened very careful every time Rachael spoke, he just enjoyed her explanations and her voice.
He reached up and grasped the data slate, tapping it with a claw to bring up the current screen.
"You're reading 'Xaxwell's brief explanation on ion drives and excitable materials and its effects of near-space physics'. This is a two thousand page sleeping pill. How do you gain enjoyment from this?" Xingta asked. He was a biological researcher, physics always illuded him. His human guest merely shrugged, the massively oversized t-shirt that bore his former university's logo on the front drowning her in material.
"It's interesting to see what we got right and what we got wrong."
"You people were on the right track?"
"Definitely. I compared it to my book." She reached to the bedside table and grabbed a thick paper textbook before gently placing it on the bed in front of her. It was so heavy, Xingta felt the bed sag beside his head.
"I suspect that if we had a bit more time, more money into pure research, we could have figured out some of this stuff within a year or two. Just a shame we didn't have science for science's sake back on Earth."
"Mm, well... speaking of funding research, I think they're going to go for my project over Xupas. Fucking human 'lover'."
"Good. Did she really...?"
"Yeah. If they go for her project a human will be needed for experiments. They'll either 'get' one from somewhere or vat grow one. Xupa will want a 'real' human though."
Racheal tucked her knees under her chin and hugged them to herself as she considered Xingta's words. He reached out a hand and lightly gripped her leg.
"It won't be you. If it all goes wrong, I already have plans to send you away via a friend."
"Who?"
"He was my study buddy. Smarter than me by a long way, then one day he gets offered a 'government adjacent job'."
"What does that mean?"
"Secret police. He'll want to do right. His moral compass was already better aligned than mine."
"What about your human study?"
Xingta snorted.
"That's a 'side hustle' as you say. My crit'yun study is where I'm focusing, if I can learn more of your people in the meantime I will. You remember how to access the file I have on you, right?"
"Yeah, but I deleted the bit about the other night."
"Mating habits are just as-"
"Not my quote; 'squeals', unquote, you asshole." Rachael snapped, grinning as her hair partially covered her face. Xingta grinned up at the ceiling.
"Very well..."
His eyes closed as her fingers reached over to scratch at the fur right between his eyes. She always enjoyed watching the tip of his tongue peek out from between his front teeth when she did this.

Now my Hetalia passion has flared up again to early 2010s levels I’m feeling the itch to get back into writing fanfiction…which I really shouldn’t because I’m so bad at finishing things unless they’re one-shots 😂
EITHER WAY I’ve got an idea for a FrUK fic where Arthur’s magic gets so fed up with his centuries of endless tsundere posturing that it rebels against him and starts showering Francis with embarrassing affection. Because magically powerful but inept wizard Arthur is always fun and “character A is in denial about their love for character B, but it comes out through their magic anyway” is a trope I LOVE
It starts small. Arthur tries to hand Francis a pen and it poofs into a red rose when it touches Francis’s fingers. Arthur is flustered but manages to brush it off (Arthur’s Death By Mortification level: 5%)
After a brief scuffle over who gets the last chair with padding (“HAHA SUCK IT, ASSTOWN FRENCHY!!” - the former nation of Prussia) Francis tears his favorite silk shirt. He bemoans it to Arthur…only to find it’s suddenly fixed itself. Arthur denies all responsibility and says France just made a mistake as usual. France is adamant he didn’t (Arthur’s DBM level: 15%)
Francis, already one of the world’s prime gourmets, invites the G7 to dinner and his cooking jumps up another notch to stratosphere levels after Arthur takes his first bite. Everyone notices (Arthur’s DBM level: 30%)
Whenever Arthur visits France the country is blessed by mild winters, springs that would stun a poet, glorious summers, and radiant autumns. Meteorologists are baffled but no one is complaining! Except Arthur. The UK meanwhile suffers constant dark, glowering skies and sulky storms (Arthur’s DBM level: 50%)
Francis and Arthur stroll through the French countryside, Francis points out a historical excavation sight, and oh look what do you know: they just happen to pull out some ancient treasure that will be a crown jewel of the Lourve. Francis ecstatic (perhaps it was even something he lost centuries ago). Arthur quickly excuses himself and runs home (Arthur’s DBM level: 70%)
Pre-meeting, Arthur overhears Francis sighing that the Italy brothers are a shoe-in to take the world prize for best cheese this year (because that’s a real contest that France and Italy have an annual slap fight over) since the French cheese makers have had a bad year. Only oh no they actually haven’t! Seems there was a late entry that blew the judges socks off and gets France another gold. Francis is ecstatic again…and getting a little suspicious by this point. Arthur hides in a closet and wishes nations could know the sweet release of death (Arthur’s DBM level: 85%)
Francis brings up the Olympics at a World Conference and Romano, still sore over the cheese, loudly remarks that of course France will top the medal board with England “helping” so much with his “fucking Harry Potter wizard BS.” Suddenly all eyes on Arthur, France included. Kill him. Kill him now (Arthur’s DBM level: about 5 million)
Arthur when he gets home: STOP FUCKING DOING THESE THINGS FUCK YOU
Arthur’s magic: Nah fuck you, man *Flips him off twice and gives Paris another tourism boost*

Diana Gabaldon recalls how first Outlander book ‘almost cancelled’
Best-selling Outlander author Diana Gabaldon has created nine beloved books and a seven-season TV series - but the franchise almost didn't happen.
The American writer told fans in Glasgow her first novel was almost cancelled because publishers could not decide what to do with it.
It took more than a year to go on sale as a debate raged about where it would sit on bookshop shelves.
The series has boosted Scottish tourism with fans flocking to Scotland to visit the book and TV programme's locations.
The author spoke at the word's first international academic Outlander conference at the University of Glasgow, which has been the backdrop for several scenes in the Starz TV series.
Expert scholars and Outlander fans have come together for events in the city, exploring themes such as Jacobite history, screen production, Scottish tourism, Gaelic and Scots, costume design, fandom, main character Claire Fraser's medicine, and witchcraft.
Ms Gabaldon - originally an academic herself - was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university in June last year.
Tumblr media
The drama series stars Catriona Balfe and Sam Heughan as Claire and Jamie Fraser. Photo: Starz
Speaking about her first book, she said: "It took the publishers 18 months to figure out what to do with it. I learned later that they came very close to cancelling the contract and giving me back the book because they couldn't decide how to sell it.
"This was before Amazon where a book can be classified as several things at once and people can pick off the web what they want, and they still get the same book.
"Back in the day it was only bookstores, you had to put a book on a certain shelf, the shelf had to have a label and the book also had to have that label."
She said the decision to sell it as a romance came as a shock.
"My agent finally called me up and said they had decided to publish it but sell it as a romance. I said, 'What?' that isn't what I wrote.
"He pointed out that a best seller in fantasy fiction was 50,000 copies in paperback while in romance it is 500,000 copies. So we sold it as romance."
'Too weird'
She said that the success of the books was down to readers' recommendations.
"My first editor said to me early on these have to be word of mouths books because they are too weird to describe, which is totally true and that is also true about the word of mouth.
"So that being the case it made total sense to expose the book to 500,000 people in the romance category who will go out and tell their friends and the word will spread.
"So we did that and that is exactly what happened."
The Outlander series is currently nine books, with the author working on the tenth - and believed to be the final - book.
It follows the story of a post-World War Two nurse visiting Scotland who accidentally time travels to the Jacobite era.

It has now become one of the bestselling book series of all time and spawned the popular TV series, currently in its seventh season.
Ms Gabaldon's talk was entitled, '"Why Scotland? Why Not Mexico?" Genes, Borders, Culture and Fiction: Why They Matter and When They Don't'.
In it, she explained why she picked Scotland as the location of Outlander.
She said: "What I learned from my research and contact with Scots is that Scots are, and historically were, very literate. They wrote down things. They also have a very strong oral culture, they told their stories.
"They also have a lot of history available. Then there is the nature of Scottish history, it has a lot of heroes and heroines as well as conflict which is what you need for a good story."
The conference runs until Saturday and has seen fringe events including music concerts and battle re-enactments in the university's famous cloisters.
Transformative impact
Senior Lecturer in Gaelic at the University, Gillebride Macmillan, who has appeared in the programme, said it had been really important for the Gaelic language.
"It's so important for a minoritized language, such as Gaelic, to be seen on a world level, on a world stage, and Outlander gives Gaelic that opportunity.
"And I think it's been fantastic to hear Gaelic spoken by the actors and in the books, and also the use of Gaelic music, Gaelic song. I've been very lucky myself to be a part of that and I think it's been an incredibly positive thing for the language.
"Which I think has been born out by things such as, one and a half million people learning Gaelic in Duolingo. Obviously, many people are learning Gaelic for many different reasons, but Outlander has been one of the major factors for that."
Prof Willy Maley, professor of Renaissance studies (English Literature), at the university, said: "Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series has had a transformative impact on Scottish culture, generating global interest in the history, languages and landscapes of Scotland.
"Vivid and visceral, Outlander is an otherworldly but never unworldly phenomenon that takes a time-travelling nurse-turned-doctor and propels her from 1946 to 1743, two worlds of war that collide in an elaborate and painstaking reconstruction that make the series much more than historical fiction and more an innovative and pioneering rethinking of how we excavate and examine the narratives of the past.
"Outlander has also been a brilliant boost for the Scottish film industry."

Nocty, thank you so much for offering to pass a message along! I’ve not asked anything of the Wishmonger before, but I’m happy to have the chance now…
Would the brothers perhaps be interested in alternative means of pleasure for their little afab partner? If she has access to- oh what’s an example?- tentacles, would they by any means watch or participate?
Once upon a time not so long ago I requested a particular scene involving the Opress Brothers from a beloved artist who I commission often: it was a project in two parts — the first request attributed to the group of the artist's Patreon supporters who voted for a skinny dipping scene beneath the moons of Dathomir, cocks flailing as they leapt over a calm lake while they frolicked — and the second (which was a personal request) to add a creature that ruined the festivities.
What you'll find here is inspired by the same starstuff, no doubt.
Humbly, I give you the tentacle monster of the Blue Coral cenote and some terato fuckery because I'm giving up the last of my fandom purity slowly but surely for this blog, so why not.
Pairing: Opress Brothers x Reader, Tentacle Monster x Reader Rating: Explicit Word Count: 1,243 Warnings: Terato/exo/monsterfucking, tentacles inserted into multiple orifices in tandem, tentacle bondage, voyeurism, masturbation, polyship, nudity, mildly dubious consent Notes: Reader is AFAB Cis, no y/n
Feral, Savage, and Maul:
You asked for an adventure, as if sleeping with three brothers at once wasn't enough: you insisted on tourism, a little flirty escape into their world's hidden places to take some time off; to enjoy each other's company on the world where two of three boys grew up.
"Show me Dathomir's secrets," you told them, and that's why they brought you to the cenote. Maul was reluctant, but their hushed conference convinced him:
Skinny dipping. A little exhibitionism. Just them and their favourite pet. You barely heard the rest of it; you were too excited at the prospect of lovemaking in a new place, untouched by civilization.
A real cenote. The Blue Coral Cove.
It was as beautiful as you imagined, and you were eager to try the cool water: so refreshing from the muggy heat and malevolent glare of Dathomir's sun. The hollow was misty, and cool, and dripping in the quiet — a true secret escape meant for lovers in need of something different.
You thought to lure Maul in, being seductive about how you disrobed, showing off everything and splashing about, not thinking for one second how none of them followed you into the shallows.
They left you alone for three minutes only, in exactly the right amount of water to come up to the knee. Safe enough, everyone thought. But while they turned away to relax and indulge a few moments, you were distracted by the bugs:
A collection of phosphorescent glow worms clung to the ceiling of the overhanging cave, lending eerie light to the darkened cavern where the body of water with no bottom sat.
Perhaps you waded too deep admiring the colours, your stirrings in the shallows motion enough to upset a fragile balance in a secret Dathomiri cove otherwise undisturbed, or perhaps the brothers knew exactly what they were doing sending you out deeper, unsuspecting while they lounged on the shore in various states of undress.
Was it your imagination, or did Feral nudge Savage just then with his elbow?
Have they seen something you did not?
Only the fireglow of their eyes in the dim and hungry expressions preceded what was about to happen.
It began gently -- a slippery touch around your ankle that had you convinced Savage had slipped from the shore, submerging quietly to join you. That slick glide curling like fingers around your ankle and gliding higher up the inside of your leg to your thigh where you were sensitive.
You giggled, your legs parting involuntarily, as another hand wrapped you at the waist to draw you deeper.
But then — the arm that snaked around you lengthened, pulsing, growing longer than any Zabrak arm. It tightened.
"Don't fight it," Feral said, his voice echoing. "It feeds on pleasure."
But why was Savage still sitting next to him?
You glanced up at that, and not downward into the murky depths like you should have. Tentative fingers touched to the apex of your thighs, and glided, rubbing against you with a strength and fluidity that lifted you higher, your legs falling apart around that touch.
Cold. Slick. Smooth. Strong.
You gasped, one word in your surprise and panic, "Maul!"
"I knew we should have told her," Savage said from the shore.
Frantic as you realized what it was, another thick tendril lifted up: shimmery and phosphor-touched in the gloom -- blue and green and glowing too.
The tip of another touched to your stomach, and shrinking back from it, you shuddered as it slithered up to flick at your breast; another gliding upward, cradling you in the unyielding embrace of a creature that lifted you bodily from the water.
"You wanted an adventure," Maul chastised, eyes glittering. "We hope this suffices."
"It won't hurt you, but it won't let you go until you finish either," Savage offered. "You'll need to come for the creature to be sated."
Your lips parted, ready to protest — the ripple of little suction cups popping off your ribs; your breasts. Too much. Too strong. And another teased your clit, seeking the warmth of your body where your sensitive parts flickered with heat from the friction.
"I wouldn't say anything unless you want your throat stuffed," Feral warned. "It will find every opening in a moment."
Your body pulsed around it, plush and small as each tentacle slipped across the pucker of your ass, resistance absent in the place of self-lubrication. You shuddered. The sensation wasn't entirely unpleasant.
"But it feels good," you moan; a deliberate goading for another tentacle to wrap your throat.
So good that your cunt gives a little pulse of tension in response as something teases your slit, sliding wetly through your pussy lips without any preamble. Rubbing it. Pulsing against the press of you trying to clench on it. You gasp, and it fits right in, stretching you around the heaviest, most muscly part of that appendage.
"Just take it, love," Feral suggests.
"It tingles," you groan.
"That'd be the aphrodisiac. It's slathering you with pheromones to make you more pliant."
You throb to life on it as it glides out, and another joins the first, teasing your asshole as a tip nudges against you. Everything loosens, and you go limp from the swell of feeling as you're filled, slicked with its lubrication as each tendril moves of its own volition, fucking you in tendem.
At first, there's no rhythm, only the swell and pulse of shifting tentacles gliding over and into your flesh; touches that find your sensitive places, licking across them like clumsy tongues, intent on tasting every part of your body.
It's too much.
It's everything.
Your body pulses. Your vision darkens. All you see for a moment is the starry canopy of glow worms. All you know is decadent, dirty, pleasure.
"How does that feel, darling?" Maul asks, and you can see he's entered the water as the being that holds you begins moving in earnest, a flitter of a suction against your clit bowing your spine, leaving you arching, trying to capture more of the sensation.
"I think it likes her," Savage says.
You shudder, and when another tentacle pushes past your lips, you swallow as you moan around it. It fills you — not so different from being taken by Savage and Feral and Maul all at once: a hole for each brother to indulge in; to love; to fuck.
The thought pushes you over: Everything explodes as your orgasm crashes over you and the creature shudders, the water churning as you come with it inside you, and again as it thrashes, the sensation shared by person and being redoubled as your ecstasy crests.
You don't even feel the cool water as the creature set you to floating. Strong arms catch you, buoying you into Maul's warm embrace before the pleasure fully ebbs away.
The creature's tendrils slip away, sated, leaving you dewy with perspiration and slicked with its lubrication, but sated.
Feral peeks over Maul's shoulder, his hand on your knee giving you a reassuring squeeze.
"Did you enjoy it?" he asks.
You murmur some sort of agreement. You know they did:
All three are rock hard and beaming. The closer they crowd around you to ensure your wellbeing, the more certain you are as you reach for each of them to smear a little of the tentacle creature's aphrodisiac goo on all of them in turn: everyone should share in the enjoyment.
You grin turns mischievous. "Oh, yes. I did."

"Footsteps Through Time: A Tale of my life story, from childhood to adulthood"
Tumblr media
I burst into the city called Lapu-Lapu like a firecracker on the sixth of February. My parents and their language barrier did not stop them from starting their factory, and I came as their product, a girl who is their little ball of energy into the world. A girl who loves eating and playing. A child who is easy-go-lucky and easy going. A girl named SOPHIA D. SUH
As a child, I was very naughty; I was always on the move and getting into all sorts of problems or chaos. From skipping class just to play with my neighbors to having a lot of wounds, I am often scolded by my mother because of that.My childhood was a tapestry of vibrant experiences, woven with the threads of love, laughter, and endless curiosity.
School was a mixed bag for me; while I excelled in subjects that sparked my interest, like sports and recess, I struggled to sit still long enough to make it through a math class without doodling on my notebooks or desk. My classmates often described me as "absent" and "always excused.". I was a dreamer, always lost in my thoughts, imagining new worlds and possibilities that lay just beyond the horizon. My interests expanded beyond the classroom. I became involved in extracurricular activities by joining the school's sports writing press conference. I discovered a passion for writing, both through words and performance, and found that I had a knack for captivating an audience.
Being a child before was really hard since it was hard for me to make friends because I am shy and lonely. As a kid, it was always a big deal for me not to make any friends because it showed how friendly and approachable I was. But I was thankful for my friends who approached me before, because without them, I may have been a loner. I played with them in school, like playing Chinese garter or patintero, or just talking to our favorite movie or film. I joined my school's sports club, where softball drew my attention. I got to go to City Palaro and CVIRAA, which I joined for at least 2 years. I never got to join sports after that because of my age, but I definitely learned a great lesson from my elementary days.
As I entered my teenage years, my goal or interest in achieving something small or big grew. I sometimes spent my time studying for an upcoming exam or quiz. My parents encouraged me to do whatever I wanted, and they will still support me in whatever I choose. But it is my choice to pressure myself because I want to. I believe that excellency can make people amazed at me.High school brought its own set of challenges and triumphs. The waters of adolescence, trying to find my place in the world while staying true to myself. I made lifelong friends, shared countless laughs and tears, and learned valuable lessons about friendship, love, and loss. I may have lost a few friends, but I gained more friends through the years of growing up.
But life wasn't always easy. My family faced its fair share of challenges, from financial hardships to personal struggles. I have to pick up some trash in the garbage to sell just to buy my sister her formula. I was really having a hard time before. Yet, through it all, we remained united, drawing strength from each other and the love that bound us together.
Senior high school was a blur of late-night studies and the kind of friendship that lasts a lifetime. I chose Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) because it is related to the course I want to pursue in college, which is tourism. I have a thing for adventure; my dream was to get through different kinds of countries to go and travel there with my family, friends, and my future husband and kids. My senior year culminated in a whirlwind of emotions as I am preparing to graduate and embark on the next chapter of my life. I have to say goodbye to friends and teachers who have become like family, knowing that I am leaving behind a chapter of my life that has shaped me in ways I could never have imagined. The senior high school year was a time of growth, learning, and self-discovery. It was a time when I learned the value of hard work, dedication, and perseverance—lessons that would serve me well in the years to come.
I threw myself into school life, joining the Supreme Student Government, the Red Cross, and a lot of other activities that I can think of. I was a good student, though not exceptional. I excelled in subjects like PE and science but struggled with math and Filipino. Despite this, I was determined to do well, pushing myself to study harder and seek help when needed.I made a conscious effort to prioritize my personal life by making time for family and friends and pursuing hobbies that brought me joy. As school progressed, I found myself reflecting on the journey that had brought me to this point. I thought about the friendships I had formed, the challenges I had overcome, and the lessons I had learned along the way. I realized how much I had grown, both academically and personally, and I felt a sense of pride in all that I had accomplished.

“We are here to break male dominance in the field of birding,” says Judith Mirembe, the chair of the Uganda Women Birders Club, as the group reaches the botanical gardens on a day where the weather cannot decide between light rain and sunshine.
Mirembe, in the check shirt, with other female birders, using their phones to find out details about a bird they’ve spotted.
“There are very few female birders in Uganda. The tourism industry in general is yet to fully appreciate women,” she adds.
Two dozen women follow Mirembe in silence, hoping to spot a “lifer” – a bird on their wishlist. “Everyone has a different lifer,” says Linda Nakalema, one of the club’s 80 members. “We see the red-chested cuckoo all the time in Uganda but people from South Africa are very excited when they see it because it only migrates there seasonally. It is their lifer. For others it is the marabou stork that we see scavenging through our rubbish every day. It looks so elegant when it flies.”
Tour companies describe Uganda as a paradise for birdwatchers. About 50% of Africa’s bird species, and 11% of the world’s, are found here. Uganda has the highest concentration of birds in Africa. The country’s birders have an ambitious target of bringing in an annual $700m in tourist revenue by 2030. In 2019, tourism in Uganda generated about $1.37bn, about 3.6% of total GDP.
Mirembe believes that female birders are entitled to a share of these earnings. At the International Conference for Women Birders the club hosted in Uganda earlier this month, female enthusiasts from all over the world met to discuss their unique challenges and discuss how, together, they can bring more money to women in the sector.
“Birding is expensive and many Ugandan women are struggling to meet costs such as buying binoculars, telescopes and cameras to record and share the birds they sight with other people,” she says, adding that cultural expectations of women as caregivers mean their spouses may not let them go for week-long birdwatching tours. “This is our reality. Even tourist operators do not take women seriously and we know that we must work twice as hard as men to get the same respect.”
Members of Uganda’s Women Birders Club, which started in 2013, meet in Entebbe every Sunday. It is a training ground and a support network. Many of the women already have careers in tourism and wildlife. Others join to make new friends and learn.
After the satisfaction of spending hours looking for birds and the joy that reverberates through the group when someone sights, accurately names and describes a bird, the women sit down for lunch in a restaurant. Over smoked beef and matooke (mashed green bananas), they speak of a time when birding could be a hazardous pursuit for women.
People would see women with binoculars, accuse them of trying to steal land and beat them up. Others could be hostile to the women because they wore trousers – a taboo in some Ugandan cultures. They recall tour operators who would send them to the field with drivers who’d sexually harass them and tourist accommodation where the women would be put in a shared room with men.
Miremebe watches the younger enthusiasts with pride as she tells them how Uganda was the first country in Africa to start a female birders’ club, and how there are now similar associations in Rwanda and Kenya.
“We must not let fear hold us back from opportunity. We need to keep it going against all odds,” is Mirembe’s farewell cry, as the women leave the restaurant and head back into Entebbe alongside the tired beachgoers and weary market-sellers.

Ok I'm dead curious and I'm a thirsty nerd, please don't spare me of details. How much did you really research for Hard Times and how much did you made up? Anything from experience? Any surprises while looking up? SHOW US THE RING!!
Also, I just wanna add to the amazing and very true points Suga made the latest chapter, if you don't mind me using the spotlight: Always make sure to purchase from actual locals while travelling. My country has a huge touristic income and, just to use as an example, big events like the football world cup thay happened a few years ago should have injected a stupid amount of money in our local economies because the amount of tourists was really hitting record numbers. Only it didn't, not even one bit. Because all foreign very expensive and very valuable currency was being spent inside hotels and on international touristic companies, not even bothering to buy a snack from actual locals. This kind of exploratory business happens specially at in development places, because the local business are not considered enough to bring international costumers to (or they just can't afford to agree with the tourism companies conditions).
Good points Mel! Tourists should definitely try to support the locals over any international corporations! If you can't afford to pay the slightly higher price for local goods and food then you can't afford to vacation in those countries 🤷‍♂️
As for your research question, i do lots of research on all of my stories. It's one of the ways I acquire new interests, actually. Like for Drop in the Ocean (idk if you read it, it's daisuga + sharks) I acquired an interest and love for fish because of all the research I did for that fic. I watched hours of fish and aquarium videos on youtube and looked up fun facts and what not so that I could accurately depict a Suga who was absolutely in love with aquatic creatures. Now i love fish so much I want to get a big huge fish tank and fill it with the little bastards. if i ever want to get really into something, all i gotta do is make it an interest for one of my characters and bam, i’m a fish person now
For Hard Times specifically, I did lots of research on cruises, since I've never been on one before. I also looked up a lot about Ocho Rios and its attractions, even though I didn't wind up using much of it. I have aphantasia (the inability to visualize) and therefore need lots of visual references, so I looked up penthouse apartments and fancy cruise ship suite layouts/blueprints as well as interior decor and clothes and yada yada
I scrolled through pages and pages of Rolex watches until deciding which one Suga stole from Daichi. This is it btw (blurry pic because it’s from my old phone and has journeyed through discord and what not shhh):
Tumblr media
And here's the ring I had in mind for the most recent chapter:
Tumblr media
I honestly don't like making things up when it's based on a real thing, you know? Like if i'm trying to make a character seem well versed about italy, i'm gonsta read several wikipedia pages, you can count on that. I might not use nearly 90% of whatever i research but hey, at least i will know which countries eat horse and which ones don't in case such a thing happens to come up in casual conversation.
as for the catholic stuff... uhhhh that’s based on my own experiences. not ALL of it, ofc. I didn’t go to a fancy catholic school, but i was raised catholic. Suga’s story about keeping the priest at that convention for so long is partially true. not the neck exercises/stain on vestments part. but i did go to a catholic convention thing (Steubenville Youth Conference) in Washington state when I was a teenager and it was very weird but very amusing. and i was required to go to confession in these little tented off cubes inside this big event center and my confession took like triple the amount of time as everyone else’s because i am a silly goofy little scamp who loves to lie and just made stuff up until the priest was finally like “alright, next”. he was a nice guy though. he was very enthusiastic about giving me advice for all my confessions which was mainly why i was in there for so long. and then when i came out, the person I had been hanging out with the whole conference was like “you were in there for so long hOW MANY SINS DO YOU HAVE?” and honestly, good question because i stopped believing in god when i was like 7 and never told a priest a single truth in my life so babey we are still counting!
the research part of writing a story is honestly really fun for me. I like filling my little notes app with things i might want to incorporate somehow because it’s interesting or could potentially fit really well with the themes and what not. i’m well aware that my world experience is pretty limited. i don’t want my characters to exist only in those limitations though. thinking of a new mental disorder or cultural background to give my characters is SO FUN and EXCITING and i can’t help but dive right into all the possibilities.
but uhhh yeah the end thanks for the question babe 🖤

Downtown Vancouver (No. 2)
Vancouver has hosted many international conferences and events, including the 1954 Commonwealth Games, UN Habitat I, Expo 86, APEC Canada 1997, the World Police and Fire Games in 1989 and 2009; several matches of 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup including the finals at BC Place in Downtown Vancouver, and the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics which were held in Vancouver and Whistler, a resort community 125 km (78 mi) north of the city. In 1969, Greenpeace was founded in Vancouver. The city became the permanent home to TED conferences in 2014.
As of 2016, the Port of Vancouver is the fourth-largest port by tonnage in the Americas, the busiest and largest in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Major film production studios in Vancouver and nearby Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America, earning it the nickname "Hollywood North".

Malaysia wants the world to know that it is officially homophobic. They won't even let you tell time in a gay way.
Owners or sellers of rainbow-coloured timepieces made by Swiss watchmaker Swatch face three years in prison in Malaysia, the interior ministry has announced, as the Muslim-majority country rails against LGBTQ symbols it says could "harm morals". Homosexuality is outlawed in Malaysia and LGBTQ people face repeated discrimination. Malaysia's law enforcement unit at the interior ministry raided Swatch stores at 11 shopping malls across the country in May, including in the capital Kuala Lumpur, for timepieces bearing what it called "LGBT elements". Anyone who "prints, imports, produces… or has in his possession" such items now faces a jail term of up to three years, the ministry said in a statement.
FFS, the bigots in the Malaysian government are actually counting colors in rainbows.
A ministry official told AFP in May that 172 watches worth $14,000 were seized in raids because they bore the "LGBTQ" acronym and had six colours instead of the seven in a rainbow. The six-colour rainbow Pride flag is one of the most well-known LGBTQ symbols globally.
This isn't the first time recently that LGBTQ+ matters have been in the news in Malaysia.
Matt Healy, frontman of British pop rock band The 1975, kissed a male band mate onstage and criticised the country's anti-LGBTQ laws. The ban comes ahead of elections in six Malaysian states that will serve as a barometer of public sentiment for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's unity government against a powerful opposition consisting of Malay-Muslim political parties. He has been criticised by the opposition who allege he is not doing enough to protect Malaysia's Islamic values. Anwar says his government will not back LGBTQ rights.
^^^ That last statement is fairly obvious.
According to DSL, this is what Malaysia exports:
Malaysia’s most valued exports would be electronics and electrical goods. They make up a high percentage of Malaysia exports of 36%, followed by chemicals (7.1%), petroleum goods (7.0%), liquefied natural gas (6%), and palm oil (5.1%).
We shouldn't use palm oil from anywhere for environmental reasons; that's easy to do without. But when buying electronics or electrical goods, always look for the country of origin. If it says Made in Malaysia then look for an alternative. Tourism and business conferences in Malaysia should also be avoided.
We don't have to enrich homophobes in Malaysia who use religion as a cover for their bigotry. .

I know none of you care about mexican politics but my cat woke me up and I can't go back to sleep cuz anxiety so, here a few things the current president has done so far that literally don't let me sleep at night:
He cancelled the international airport that was going to be one of the most useful links of Mexico with the whole world, improving tourism, thus improving economy. This airport was already on construction, there had been studies to locate it on the most strategic zone possible, it had been approved for international associations and predict to be one of the most important proyects of Mexico so far. Instead, he moved the proyect right in the middle of nowhere, to a zone airplanes can't arrive and taxis won't go because it's too dangerous. Flying to CDMX was a 50/50: you could arrive at the old airport (as you were supposed to), or your airplane could end up in another place where you could pass hours waiting for a way to go to the city, because they changed the fly plan as you were still in the air without telling you.
The so-called scholarships. Basically, this "proyect" consist on giving three thousand pesos (between 150 and 120 dollars) to high school student twice at year. The problem? The money has to come from somewhere. So far, no one knows exactly where it comes from. All we know is that the government has stopped art and science proyects and closed multiple secretaries dedicated to promoted them since he took power. Besides, my generation doesn't have a retirement plan. In case you are wondering, yes. I'm very aware what that means.
He refused to acknowledge covid as a problem. I wish this was a joke. He really said on national TV that all you had to do was to pray covid away. He did everything he could to keep the contagion rate as low as he could refusing diagnostics. He didnt implemented security measures properly. Showed up with out mask on public. Promoted despotism and missinformation.
Keeps making fun of feminism everytime he can.
When he took power he celebrated Maduro and other dictators. He did the same on independence day. And has offered political refuge to multiple politicians that had tried to take total control over their country.
Once he compared us, common people, with pets and animals.
He does a morning conference every day. With out a written speech. The guy just stands there and tells to the world what he was thinking while eating his Cheerios that day.
On his first independence day as president he changed the shield on the national flag with his face. You don't understand, that's a federal crime. It's written on the fucking constitution: you can't alter the national symbols (the national anthem, the shield and the flag).
Long story short, the guy is an hubris egomaniac jerk. This isn't even half the things he has done. The worst part is that there are still a lot of people that worship him. And its just SO frustrating.
