De pronto los fandoms

La segunda mitad del 2023 trajo al debate público la voz de un grupo social que en Argentina estaba condenado a la superficialidad y, muchas veces, a la burla.

Hace unos meses caí en un nuevo consumo irónico que consistía en ver a mitad de semana el programa del periodista Carlos Pagni, La Odisea, una vez que fuera subido a YouTube. Como una cosa te lleva a la otra, decidí buscarlo en Instagram y seguirlo (qué decisiones tomabaaaa).

Sorprendida por esta estrategia absolutamente novedosa e inteligente sobre todo tratándose de periodistas, fui a chequear y confirmé que yo hubiera podido triunfar en los medios sin ningún problema igual que ellos, porque todas las cuentas que estaba siguiendo eran “Cuentas Fandom” y ninguna era oficial. Adivinando en el momento de que todo se trataba de una muy inteligente estrategia de trolls para alimentar a las redes de contenido político, me pregunté desde cuándo una cuenta de fans podía ser un dispositivo eficiente para “inocular” (muchas comillas) un mensaje, como ya venían siendo las mucho más populares cuentas de memes (Coherencia Por Favor, Indignadxs, etc.)

En los hermosos y siniestros años 90, un presentador de la Rock & Pop llamado “Tuqui” (humorista, guionista, “artista” “polifacético”), cantaba con una especie de banda que había logrado armar una canción que me aprendí de memoria porque la pasaban en “Se Nos Viene La Noche”, un programa que hacía junto a Juan Di Natale. El tema se llamaba “Gorda Lanza Gases” y se dedicaba a describir a las “presidentas” de los clubes de fans de una forma absolutamente machista y grosera que hoy no podríamos tolerar. Más allá de que la mente en situación de consumo problemático de Tuqui se iba al pasto en todas las estrofas, de manera muy cruda esa imagen era un poco la imagen de la fan que la mayoría de las personas tenían. Al final de la canción, la protagonista de la letra se moría y el verso rezaba: “la gorda ahora mira de arriba, a todas las otras pobres pibas que viven del fan club…”

¿Cuáles son, en la mamoria colectiva, las imágenes que nos vienen a la mente cuando pensamos en los FANDOMS argentinos?

Personalmente, pienso en seguida en Cinthia Tallarico, que en 1992 se suicidó porque su padre no la dejó asistir a un concierto de Guns N’ Roses. También pienso en “el fan de Wanda” Mariano De La Canal llorando, recuerdo a los floggers que eran fans de Cumbio y de otros, recuerdo a la chica de “Cómo te quedó eso, eh?” y al chico fan también de Justin Bieber de “Para los que no saben, Justin es de Piscis”. Recientemente, vimos a las fans de Luis Miguel apostadas en la puerta del hotel del artista haciendo perfos con un imitador. Recuerdo también a Madonna Sandra, que podría ser el primer antecedente de una fan que públicamente ha tomado posiciones públicas más o menos políticas como su apoyo a las Marchas del Orgullo, por ejemplo.

Pero en 2023 los fans están en una (en otra, mejor dicho). De pronto los fandoms meten comunicados de prensa, visitan canales de noticias para dar entrevistas, se posicionan políticamente y se pronuncian más allá de lo estrictamente relacionado con su artista.

Finalmente, como fenómeno tal vez adyacente pero interesante para argumentar que sí existe una nueva voz en la conversación pública para los y las fans, la mayoría de los clubes de fútbol expresaron su repudio a las declaraciones del candidato Javier Milei en contra de las Asociaciones Civiles en el fútbol (categoría a la que pertenecen la mayoría de las instituciones). Se generó un debate entre los seguidores de los equipos de cada institución y esto podría indicar que una nueva relevancia del lugar de fan (o hincha, en este caso), trasciende también la cuestión del género.

En un contexto cambiario (no me animo a poner “económico” porque no sé explicar los recitales agotados y los teatros llenos en medio de la crisis) y cultural que en Argentina propicia desde hace unos años la visita de artistas, bandas, filmaciones de series, películas y publicidades extranjeras, exposiciones artísticas de gran porte, entre otros proyectos de la cultura de masas, no resultaría tan extraño que los fandoms empiecen a dejar el lugar más o menos marginal que tenían en la cultura, casi siempre relegados al meme o a la nota de color, y tomen otra voz, más seria, más empoderada, más sólida.

Wilki - Bohema (bohema is a word describing a community of eccentric artists, not respecting social standards and often partying; anyways, it's about freedom and being brave about your dreams; it gained meme status because of its chorus which goes like
