((if otte settled down + had a family eventually, what would v'menah think abt that?? since u said that v'mehah would not do that))
If Otte would ever settle down with someone, she would be fine and happy with it! If doing that makes him happy, it wouldn't be her place to judge what he does with his life - if anything she would be happy to see him sharing his life with someone after denying himself for so long.
Though naturally she would make sure the person receiving Otte's affection would be worth it first. It's her duty to disapprove of any potential partner, after all - at least for a little bit.

((can you tell us more abt v'menah??))
Tumblr media
Yes I can!
V'Menah (or just Menah) is the eldest and the strongest child of the previous nunh, V'Rhaka, and also the eldest sister of my other character Otte. Due to her general disinterest towards men (and a heap of spite from to losing her father's attention to her two "weakling" brothers) she always felt restrained with her tribe's expectations of women, and eventually ended up leaving that life behind, working as a wandering monster hunter instead!
Unfortunately she never quite learned how to deal with people from outside her family - and even at home she preferred to keep to herself most of the time. This has left her feeling awkward and uncomfortable around people, which she does her best to cover with heavy layers of blunt demeanor and general grumpiness. If she pushes people away with her attitude, it means she doesn't need to deal with them, right?
And that is the gist of her I think! If there's anything specific you or anyone else would like to know, shoot me another ask! Same for any other dorks of course, I'm always happy to blab on about them.

#28 - Blunt
Tumblr media
V'menah had lived long enough within the cities to know the first signs of trouble.
The confident smirk, the mischievous twinkle in their eye when their gaze focused on her - and the strut, like they were the biggest chocobo on the field. They knew what they wanted, were going to get it, and the miqo'te would hate each and every moment of it.
Fortunately she wasn't scared to cut that bothersome crap in the bud, even before they had the chance to open their mouths; it was their own fault for daring the attempt despite the clear disapproval emanating from her every pore.
"No."
Whatever pick-up line they had armed and ready, they usually quickly choked into it, her response given before a squeak had escaped those lips. They would always blink in confusion, their confidence so easily crumbling, the pomp shrinking into an awkward squirm.
"…Ah? But---"
"No."
They would stand there for a moment, like a fish gawking on dry land. Then, finally, the point was taken, and they disappeared back into the crowd with their tail between their legs.
And if they didn't, V'menah didn't mind being the one walking away instead.

#21 - Solution
Tumblr media
The Seeker before her was weak, but still he insisted on challenging her - no matter how many times he was thrown onto the dirt.
It was the third time he charged at her, sweat and dust on his brow and features twisted into a frustrated scowl. There were no signs of a plan, no feigned strikes or fast evasions. Only the stubborn attempt to push through sheer strength alone.
Strength that Menah had at least twice as much, if not thrice.
And so, again, she met the man head-on, a well-placed blow from her fist enough to leave him winded. It was followed by a roundhouse kick to his side, sending him flying as a bruised, pitiful heap.
Perhaps she overdid it this time, but she was growing frustrated herself.
This man was no nunh, and the elders were sentimental fools. He wouldn't sire strong children, he wasn't good enough to lure in potential new members - if anything he would only lure in potential competitors for his title.
He was only nunh because of generation of tradition, where the son would beat his father for the status. Sons that had been strong, not like the young man before her, or the older brother who had ran away like a coward.
As she looked upon her sisters huddling around their beaten half-brother, worried and disapproving frowns aimed her way,  she knew.
The only solution for her frustration was to walk away.
She was done with this tribe and its tradition.

((what do v'menah and otte think of each other??))
Their relationship is quite strained at the moment, but on the road towards improving (I hope)!
Menah didn't like Otte when they both were still with the tribe; being the first-born son, suddenly everyone's attention and expectations were on Menah's little brother, and no amount of effort on her part would've made her as important as a potential Nunh in a sea of daughters. It didn't help Otte grew up to be small and frail, nothing compared to his younger brother - and eventually he was quick to flee the tribe with his tail between his legs at the first sign on difficulty. To Menah he was a coward, a weakling, and she had always made her opinion known about this.
Over the years of living in and experiencing the outside world Menah has matured and mellowed out a little, and she has gained some respect towards Otte and how he has carved out his own space to fit in. He is still weak, of course, but he makes up for it with his mind - and she is aware how much stronger he is when it comes to sheer intelligence. She regrets treating him harshly and wants to make things right....but unfortunately she is quite not sure how to do that.
It doesn't help that Otte is still very much intimidated by her, and would most likely flee at the first sight - especially when they share the same resting scowl face that tends to hide their true feelings. Despite respecting her strength and hunting skills, Menah is still someone Otte knows could snap him in two, and he would prefer to avoid that.

((anon just asked that bc it would get in the way for her during a fight scene...
anyway, what would be her ideal life for her?? would she want to settle down or keep monster hunting for as long as she can??))
It's a constant fight (hehe) to know short hair would be less of a liability, but also to love your mane too much to cut it. She makes sure to tie it when she's working though!
(Also the player themselves might like the long locks on her too much...)
But her ideal life...that's a good question! At the moment she can't imagine settling down anywhere, staying put makes her restless (and makes it more likely for familiar faces to form). She had a travelling companion once, and she found a sense of fullfillment in protecting them and watching them experience the world, but if you would ask her now, she would say wandering and working alone is the most ideal for her.
How true that is though...who knows?

((what if she cut her hair short??))
Then...she would probably even grumpier than before! She's quite fond of her long locks and keeping them nice and clean is a point of pride for her.

Thank you to @sea-wolf-coast-to-coast for organizing yet another September of creative writing! Like the previous years it was a great challenge, and a chance to dig deep into my characters’ head to see what makes them who they are.
Looking forwards to FFXIVWrite2023!

After all the masculine-leaning characters I felt someone slightly more feminine was in order! Also Menah was lacking a proper full-body shot.
That and I just felt like doodling some Cleavage and Abs

4. what seemingly insignificant memories stuck with your character?
crucial muse development questions
Tumblr media
V'menah is the type of person to hold petty grudges, and her memories often reflect that. Anything said to her in passing that hinted she was weaker due to her gender, any tease, any spontaneous slight - they all are ingrained deep into her memory to seethe about later down the line.
Especially if it was a man who said those things.

#18 - Devil’s Advocate
Tumblr media
"---But what if something goes wrong? We should instead try to---"
This was exactly why V'menah didn't like dealing with people. People loved to talk, to listen to their own voice, and they kept coming up with petty arguments for the sake of it. For the sake of something utterly useless as discussion, or worse, small-talk. Today wasn't any different as she sat in that small, dark room, watching the two mercenaries loom over the table where the map of the nearby wilderness was laid out.
There was no need for any of this. The plan was simple - get in there, find the monster that had terrorized the locals, slay it, come back. The detailed plans of the how of it did not matter. Only being the stronger and faster of the two clashing sides did.
Not that she had any interest in entertaining her companions’ need for brainstorming by adding her own opinions into the mess. Instead her palm slammed against the wooden surface, bringing a momentary, surprised silence into the room as she pushed herself onto her feet. Before anyone had a chance to speak out, though, she cut off the attempt with an icy glare.
"...I'm going."
No more discussion was needed or heard as she made her way out of the door, slamming it shut in her wake. If people wanted to waste their time talking, they could do so without her.
