Hair: Dark brown, with a wiry texture that makes it a bit unruly, especially when she's wearing it short.

Eyes: Green and always sharp.

Skin: Brown, slightly lighter than some of her countrymen.

Tattoos/scars: Ala Mhigan style facial tattoos. Scars-wise she has a number of them, fitting her life as an adventurer, but the most prominent is a messy knot of them that cover her right shoulder and upper arm.

Abilities: A competent if unconventional conjurer, thanks to being taught in a hodge-podge sort of style. She's got some practice at field medicine outside of that, which makes most of her healing best applied on the battlefield. She knows how to throw a punch, too, though she's not very elegant about it.

Hobbies: A growing (heh) interest in gardening.

Most Positive Trait: Determined, sociable, deeply caring despite the front she puts up.

Most Negative Trait: Stubborn as anything, especially when she feels like she's been slighted.

Hair: A sandy blonde mop that's an amalgamation of wave, frizz, and poof. He generally wears it tied back (as seen in game) but had braids as a boy (he doesn't know how to braid, his mother did it for him). His hair is almost never down, save for sleeping.

Eyes: left: pumpkin orange, right: desert yellow

Skin: Deep tan, freckled.

Tattoos/scars: No tattoos, but many many scars--most of which are minor and not worth mention. A large scar cuts across the bridge of his nose diagonally, is mostly healed over his cheek, but still visible on his jawline.

F A M I L Y

Parents: Both alive, his mother is W'Ahra and his father is unnamed. Part of me wants to flesh out his backstory entirely, and the other part is lazy but pretends its left open for potential RP.

Siblings: Initially I had Pip be the only kit of W'Ahra but I'm thinking of changing this. He, of course, has several siblings in his tribe and a few brothers but I think having grown with an immediate brother (to W'Ahra) can help back his pervasive competitiveness.

Grandparents: In the tribe, yes but nothing specific written out.

In-laws and Other: Unmarried. Roric Raham, his late tutor/mentor was the father his Nunh wasn't.

Abilities: Pip has no magical affinities or abilities. The only thing of note in his skill in hand-to-hand combat.

Hobbies: Fishin', drankin', trainin', being a nuisance to the public of Ul'dah.

Participation Prize Winners

Winners were selected via a random raffle dice roll made by each of the artists and span all online writing platforms, including Tumblr, Ao3, Google Docs, and others (like Twitter). This writing challenge is not a contest - no one’s work was being judged for length, skill, etc. The prizes are based on participation only!

Prizes are a simple black & white portrait of the winner’s character. Most are shoulder up but the artists are free to take liberties if they’d like. Prizes are not commissioned work, so ultimately it’s the artist’s choice for what they’d like to do for the piece. Some artists (not all) accept commissions and might be open to colorizing a prize piece, after it’s been posted, at their normal rates.

All of 2022′s winners will be contacted directly by their volunteer artist. If you are a winner and your artist has been unable to contact you after 2 weeks of trying, you will forfeit your prize and another participant will be chosen to take your place, so make sure that your inboxes are open and keep an eye out for new discord friend requests.

As always, there are a few whose artists needed to drop out for personal reasons, and that’s ok! In those cases, the winners will be carried over into 2023′s pool of winners where another artist will pick up their prize and complete it.

Last Movie: I think it was Across the Spiderverse.

Currently reading: I am very, very slowly reading through the Eorzea Encylopaedia 2, I suppose? I finally got it years later from @pearlescent-scales after a few missed opportunities to change hands. xD Perhaps more interestingly, the last two books I finished this year were After the Dragons by Cynthia Zhang (fiction), and Sky Burial by Xinran (non-fiction).

Currently watching: Not watching anything as I don't have any streaming subs or a TV. Most of my YT time is probably just playing music or Arknights PV/EPs... The latest series on my radar is the donghua Link Click!

Currently consuming: Cold teabag water (wherein I have a used teabag and I lazily add any-temperature water instead of bothering to boil hot water)

FFXIVWrite2023 - Prompt 17 - Storm of Blood (Extra Credit)

Compared to how hot Oka's temper burned, Tatsujiro's rage was ice cold. Even the vibrant pigments inked into their skin showed the dichotomy; Oka's phoenix of flaming red and Tatsu's dragon that coiled around him in shades of blue. Despite the different ways it manifested, their anger flowed along similar paths and their goals were the same.

"Go to him and don't stop," Tatsu advised. He slid his katana free of its sheath and held it at ready. Anyone who came for them was an enemy. This night they would either kill or be killed - regardless of the outcome, they would suffer the current status quo no more.

Tatsu stepped in front of the furious lieutenant, a man that he had known since Tatsu was a child. He had known the man and his corruption for a long, long time. Considering how even Tatsu's father had never had a kind word about him, the Raen felt no remorse in squaring off against him. Even if he had had doubts, it was worth it; it allowed Oka to keep running, to reach the fat spider that sat in the center of that corruption's web. They were both doing that needed to be done.

"You would betray us all, your own family? You'll pay for this with more than just a finger, boy."

It was true. If they failed, there was more on the line than single digits. Tatsu nodded. "You're right, Saburo-niisan," he said calmly. "Even my father likely won't understand when I tell him what's happened. But this ends here, tonight."

The words were barely past his lips when Saburo attacked. Tatsu deflected the blade, each swing of the roegadyn's katana coming down with enough force to make his arms tingle. Training with Oka for so long, however, meant that Tatsu was used to far more power and energy behind such strikes. The raging attacks of a middle-aged man were nothing in comparison. What Saburo did have the advantage in was experience.

Tatsu dodged and deflected as the clash of steel rang through the room and echoed in his horns. First blood was Saburo's, slicing neatly through skin and scale along Tatsu's forearm. Unfortunately for the lieutenant, that was also his downfall. Seeing blood on the tatami made Saburo grin and grow bolder. Tatsu kept his head and continued, unchanging. All it took was exploiting the recklessness of an overhead strike for Tatsu to get close, his hands and hilt fetching up against the bigger man's chest.

Saburo sputtered and coughed, spitting blood down into Tatsu's face. His expression of shock was not something that Tatsu savored. Tatsu stepped back, pulling his katana free and flicking it in a way that scattered more red rain on the floor and walls. There was nothing good about what they were doing; it was necessity.

Which Greek God Would Favor You

She's picked up enough losses by now to not love fighting for fighting's sake any more, though, and she would scoff at being described as ambitious. Her ambitions don't extend much farther than staying alive.)

WIP Wednesday

got tagged by @aethermimic a while back and didn't get a chance to get to this. Thanks for the tag!! Also, I know it isn't Wednesday but the likelihood of me remembering come Wednesday is slim.

I don't really have any true wips to share. Sometimes I get bored or crave change and fart around in character creation or with anam, so the only "wip-y" things I have are some rando characters who may or may not ever exist. Featuring a fem falafel, I do think they're cute but the short camera is weird; a fem viera (shared before) who I still obsess over. maybe one of my better character designs, I just love her face. I was so inspired by her, I actually had a half story going to make her an OC, but never went through with it. lastly, a pip-ified viera. if I ICly changed Pip to anything but miqo, it might be viera. I had a phased not too long ago of pip-ifying the other races.

What Colour Character Are You?

Red...

...characters tend to be both quiet and observant as well as loud and dramatic. They are often brash and impulsive, and tend to act on instinct rather than planning ahead. They are quite self-sacrificing, often veering into self-destructive, and they push themselves to their limits trying to succeed. They tend to be stubborn, and it might take a lot to change their mind. They have a hard time expressing their feelings, and may come off as either emotionless, self-absorbed, or perpetually angry.

They don’t have a ton of friends, and when they do, it’s often by circumstance rather than choice (although they grow to fiercely love their friends). They are not usually innately good at fitting into social situations, and can be awkward and out of place in them. They can come off as unhumorous because of how sincere and honest they tend to be, but tend to just have a dryer, sarcastic sense of humor. They do often think of others first, but their motivations for it might not be entirely selfless. They usually have a hard time conceivably lying, and are quite earnest without meaning to be. They put their full effort into what they do, and push themselves to improve at all costs.

They get easily defensive, and feel like they have to prove themselves to earn anyone’s respect. They have a strong sense of internal morality and high standards for themselves. They also hold others to their internal high standards, which can cause a lot of conflict if not worked out. They tend to have bad relationships with their parental figures, who were usually either absent or abusive, and contributed to their toxic view of themselves.

At their core, red characters want to be loved and accepted, but have often been denied it, leading them to build up lots of defenses. Others need to be patient with them and give them a safe space to be themselves as they open up and begin to flourish.
