This takes place about a month after everyone was rescued and a few weeks after Duncan was pulled from Juvie

"Hello again, Duncan. It's good to see you again."
He sat silently staring at his hands. It was a moment more before his councilor spoke again.
"Your parents showed me your journal. Your handwriting had improved a lot."
Duncan didn't respond... he glanced up to the councilor, but that was it.
"I noticed you write a lot. About your day, the Lord, and what you want to do... what happened on the island."
Duncan looked away and gripped the blanket draped over his shoulders. The mention of the island... he felt nothing but dread...
"... Can you talk to me about it? Talking it through might help with how you feel."
He shook his head. He couldn't talk. He deserved the shame.
"I can't help you if you won't let me -"
<[I. Don't. Want. Talk.]> Duncan signed. The councilor paused... his tone was aggressive. They sighed and nodded.
Duncan looked away. He didn't believe that. Not for one second, not after Noah's death. He sent him to death. He knew what he was doing... a sinful man he was...
"I understand, Duncan... you're not going to Hell for whatever you might've done on the island. You're still a kid, and what you went through was horrific... God will not hate you."
"Yknow, it was only a matter of time before you realized this, right?" A familiar voice rang out, the snide comment making Duncan hang his head.
"Seriously, what were you thinking? Sending me away like that? If I didn't know better, I'd think you'd have wanted me dead. Or is that what you wanted?"
Noah sat next to Dunacn, his body unrecognizable and rotted, the water having taken its claim of him. Duncan couldn't look at him... he just couldn't.
"What's the matter, tough guy? Going soft now? If you're hoping to be a killer at least take some pride in your work." He lifted his head slightly, the action causing rotten fluids to be pushed through his discolored skin. Duncan whined in response and turned his head away.
"You're going to Hell, Duncan."

Before the students left Rek, the rakii had been in the process of developing their own AI. At first they were gifted such intelligence by the students, providing washed-down copies of themselves to add to their tech and craft management. But when the need for more personalized AI and general curiosity arose, they went to work, using the student provided AI as a base or reference point. From there, three types of AI sprouted off these projects: • Student AI - Highly valuable, practical holy relics of what remains of the students. These are "purest" AI and are strictly held within Iot's control, only able to function off student tech. There are only 4 existing and 2 remain within the Idle Library. These AI are again, much more watered-down and while are fairly sentient they aren't 100% sapient.
• Hybrid or Steward AI - A mix between student and rakii coding. Since rakii couldn't exactly copy paste the student AI's themselves, what was given, they managed add on it. These AI were specialized and trained to understand the workings of rakii history, and language, while also being able to work on both student and rakii devices. They are still held under Iot control but with special permission, they can be granted to important government official or funded servers. These AI are a tad more self-aware, understanding their purpose and history just fine.
• Factotum AI - Completely rakii made and trained AI. With little to no student involvement, these AI are either standard algorithmic run assistants or commercially used for things like personal computers, phones, self-driven vehicles (mainly rail cars and public transit) or vending machines. Not ALL devices have AI of course, as the general public have a lot of mixed feelings towards, not such distain but prefer to be the only one in control of their tools. On the upside, they are heavily regulated and lack any possibility for self-awareness or sapience. The ones displayed here are two steward AI named Wyrr'Yoii (left) and Booror (right). Wyrr'Yoii is currently housed on the lunar settlement, Wubu maintaining life support and security, taking the avatar of a temperate. They were handed over to the rakii aerospace committee by Iot, which is heavily funded by the city for the investment of seeking out their missing gods. Wyrr'Yoii is described to be standardly monotone and critical, yet easy-going and understanding. They know exactly where their functionally lies and are always willing to lookout for the inhabitants within them. They have long-range communication with ground control, and furthest orbiting station in their system, "The Needle of Shwati" (A Wubu settler checking in with Wyrr'Yoii)

Booror, is housed within an arctic government building in the Shto Dominion hence taking an arctic avatar. Having accepted trading offers and territory with Iot, they were later granted a steward to keep purpose tabs and documents on community. Ensuring those higher up are up-to-date with any possible trading changes. Though the general public are often wary of this development as recently there has been a project in the works of providing AI with RC units, wanting to see how these AI can interact with the physical world. One unit being an elaborate success, however the reactions of many were generally, "It looks creepy." and it became more of an underground project. (Cartographer Wa'chaa "Quiibii" Iot, speaking with Saiba in their RC unit)

Unpopular Opinion: Island of the Slaughtered doesn't make much sense to me honestly... I don't hate it, but the serial killer wouldn't last a day after there's revealed to be one on the island... Because Chef is a psycho that probably went to war and would snap the killer like a twig... Or Chef and Chris would get guns and shoot the killer down... Also, some of the contestants are strong enough to take down wild animals... The killer wouldn't stand a chance against their combined forces... Plus in canon, Chris and Chef did try to save Gwen from a killer (and Gwen defeated the killer)! XD
Island of the Slaughtered was actually what initially drew me back in to Total Drama as a whole, which is ironic because the AU itself kind of got overshadowed by the source material for me.
I like the concept, and the execution is really good too, but I haven't really interacted with the AU at all besides following the Tiktok uploads when they dropped last year. So please excuse me if anything I say here is inaccurate.
But I'm fairly certain that a pivotal plot point of the AU itself is the fact that both Chris and Chef abandon the campers on the island at the first sign of foul play; Chef wouldn't be there to fight off the killer. And that's not exactly out of character for them either- both Chris and Chef are shown throughout canon to not care for the safety and wellbeing of the contestants, and the two of them would believably prioritise their own wellbeing over the campers' survival.
And as far as the strong contestants go, the only characters in Island who would really stand a chance against an active serial killer would be the likes of Eva, Izzy and maybe Duncan- who all survive the massacre because the killer never targets them. I don't know if that's a sign of intelligence on the killer's part or pure coincidence, but it's true nonetheless.
Courtney later shows off her physical prowess in Action, but throughout Island there's nothing to indicate that she could take on a serial killer alone. Since the AU is based in the canon of Island, she doesn't count as a "strong" camper. In the same vein, DJ is very strong, but he's also a 'gentle giant' who's hesitant to cause physical harm to anyone- he wouldn't have the courage to confront the killer.
In the AU itself, the killer works more as an ambush predator than your stereotypical "hunt and kill" murderer; the only time a contestant is ever killed is when they stray from the pack. A huge aspect of this AU is "safety in numbers", the only time someone ever dies is when they're alone and/or in a vulnerable position. This implies that the killer themself is never too far away from the cast; they're always watching, hidden in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to pick off the weakest links as they stray too far from the safety of their group.
Would it have made more sense for the group to attack the killer as a united front (allowing the likes of Eva, Izzy and Duncan to subdue/kill them in turn)? Probably. But at the end of the day, these are frightened teenagers- they're not going to think logically when they're being hunted for sport. They're going to follow the safest route of their continued survival, which in this case is remaining together as a tight knit group and waiting to be rescued from the island.
I, personally, think the plot of the AU makes a lot of sense when you consider the above factors. And, of course, because it's a Horror AU- you'd need to suspend a lot of the cartoon logic to make it somewhat believable, which includes the fact that Gwen canonically 'takes down' the real killer by insulting him. That kind of stuff wouldn't fit the tone of the IotS AU.
Not that I'm saying you have to like it. You're entitled to your opinion! This is just how I understand the AU.

i mean sure, i’ve spent hours and hours learning how to make my cheap base model 3d printer into something that:
will not catch on fire;
can be controlled using something approximating modern technology, and;
actually performs the function of a 3D printer at a reasonably high level of accuracy and with minimal catastrophic failures
it’s taken some work. like kind of a lot of work. like going from a totally blank slate re: electronics to semi-competently understanding basic circuitry and computer programming to the extent where I am no longer afraid to unscrew the damn thing and fuck around with the control board and wiring. I own a bag of fork terminals and crimping pliars now. I know what a MOSFET is and own at least three. Raspberry pis? I’ve got three now, and one of them is what I use to control the printer now.
Like I took this analog antiquity that had to be manually operated by using a single dial to navigate a bewildering maze of menus and submenus, something that was not only incapable of internet access but could only print from a SD reader so outdated that it could not communicate with 95% of the SD cards on the market… and now I can operate it entirely from my phone, including wirelessly uploading files, AND I can monitor it from an arducam stream the whole time while AI simultaneously monitors it for failures or issues.
And that’s not getting into the hardware upgrades. This thing is the ship of Theseus by this point. I’ve modded and upgraded just about every part, from the frame to the Y-carriage plate, to the heated bed, the z stop, the cooling block, the hotend and nozzle(s); the cooling fan, the extruder plate and lever, thermistor, x and y timing belts and tensioners, bed leveling wheels, bed leveling springs/columns, I popped some hardcore z braces on there, introduced a much more powerful cooling fan in the control boz, I swapped the spool holder out for a heated filament chamber, oh and of course, I built an enclosure out of plexiglass and IKEA Lack side tables with independently controlled fume venting and an IoT thermo/hygrometer sensor inside.
by this point some (perhaps most?) of you are thinking “jesus christ, why TST?? this all sounds like a massive pain in the ass???” and you’re not wrong but look listen. listen. All of that effort, all of that time and effort and all the mistakes and frustration along the way, they were all worth because now I own a machine that can just manifest stuff into existence at my command.
Like it occurred to me last night that it might be nice to own a little glow-in-the-dark model of a low poly panther, you know, just for fun.

•           There are those who have not yet figured out how the technology works and believe that the agricultural sector does not need new technologies, but needs more labor force instead.
