First impressions from Mirage gameplay: they didn’t joke around when they said Basim will be quick. Almost looks like teleportation XD Granted, this particular part - only when he is doing chain assassination
Still pretty fast otherwise. And talkative! Might be the snippet they used, but Basim seems found of thinking aloud

So...
Tumblr media
youtube
This was announced at today's Ubisoft Forward, expected to be released during holiday seaon of this year. I confess I was panicking at the beginning, because they spoke of "all-new Assassin’s Creed story built exclusively for VR" and I was scared to discover what this new story could be, especially for Ratonhnhaké:ton (a shitty unfitting sequel was the worst scenario in my mind!)
BUT
but
As revealed by Access the Animus...
Tumblr media
"Players will embody Connor as he is contacted by Achilles to rescue an imprisoned Son of Liberty in Boston"
Also, to confirm my relief there is this interview to the Creative Director David Votypka, where he says:
"Ezio's story begins around 1509 [two years after the events of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood], during a time in his life that wasn't really heavily documented in Assassin’s Creed lore previously. So that gave us some freedom to tell the stories of what he was doing then. With Kassandra, it's 20 years after the events of Odyssey, during a real historical period called the Reign of the Thirty Tyrants, when these 30 men brutally ruled Athens.
Connor's is intermingled with the events of Assassin’s Creed III. It happens in 1776 and 1777, so it's additional stories of what was going on with him at that time."
So, no sequel, no panic, no story ruined. For what we know so far
For now.
Tumblr media
Anyway, since I don't own a VR, I guess there is no way I will be able to play this. Too bad, even though first-person tends to give me nausea if the movements are too quick and shaky. I'll have to make do with watching videos of the gameplay online ↁ_ↁ

Did you hear about situation with Unity?
I have and I have spent the past days talking to my friends about it since a few of them have work related to video games. Unity was one (if not the most) of the most used game engines in the industry at the moment. I’m sure there are more people who are more informed than me about just how badly Unity has fucked not just everyone who used their game engine but also themselves. Even if they were to backpedal on this, they’ve lost the trust they have accumulated because they were blinded by greed. And the ones to truly suffer are not just the game devs who had been using Unity that knows they could never pay such absurd fees if it was to come to pass but also those employed by Unity to develop the game engine who have no say in whatever mindnumbing plans their bosses have, not those above who pushed for this. Also, there seemed to be some who believe that the CEO who thought it was a good idea to charge people for reloads in Battlefield when he was the CEO of EA (and that’s not even pointing at the fact that he sold his shares before they announced this) isn’t to blame for this situation but that this was pushed by the board members in Unity that are made up of… well… a majority of which are investment managers. There’s the whole “we won’t charge you if you use our ad monetization service” angle as well so, yeah, this is shaping up be the old “make a ridiculous offer first then start the bargaining until you get your actual target” schtick.
I don’t really have anything more to add to this other than the video game industry has the chance to fuck with those who only see the numbers right now but that would mean having a successful coordinated attack on Unity by (1) not using the engine anymore even when they try to backpedal and then (2) going “no deal” to all and every bargaining chip Unity brings to the table until they completely backpedal to remove all their planned bullshit and (3 – optional) even go as far as having the CEO step down (even if it seems he’s planning to raze the ground and run from the looks of it, not in the “I don’t give a shit anymore” kind of way but in a “Fuck you, board members, I’m out!” kind of way) and, even after they backpedal entirely, (4) everyone do not use Unity for any new games moving forward.
The main point is to give Unity a slow death all the while smacking into everyone’s faces that this is because of the lack of trust.
In this case…
A broken trust must not be repaired. Let it burn slowly until all that is left is ashes.
That would be a statement that those who are fueled by greed can understand if they are not idiots.
And a slow death would give the employees of Unity a chance to abandon ship but, even if this does happen like this, the casualties of this plan would fall on both the employees of Unity and the game developers who now have to learn a new game engine and/or port their games to another game engine. A slow death would minimize the casualties but it would mean more time for those on top to abandon ship. A quick death (find a way to plummet Unity’s stocks to the ground maybe? Idk) would hurt those on top as well but that would also mean more people would suffer as well.
In other words…
Killing Unity may prove to be the best course of action in the long run but there will be casualties and it won’t just be those who deserved it.
Sidebar: if you’re actually asking if any Ubisoft games would be affected by this and I just went on a rant by mistake, sorry about that, nonny, and no, they will not be affected. A lot (if not most) of AAA studios have their own game engine. The Assassin’s Creed series use Ubisoft Anvil which was developed as Scimitar for Altaïr’s Assassin’s Creed and Ubisoft has more game engines under them: Disrupt was created from the ground up for Watch_Dogs, Dunia is a modified version of Crytek’s CryEngine mainly used for Far Cry, and Snowdrop is codeveloped with Massive Entertainment and is used for… different games (The Division, Mario + Rabbids, South Park, etc). So yeah, if you’re worried about how this would affect Ubisoft, it won’t. The only game I could think of that may have been developed using Unity is AC Rebellion (the phone app) and I'm not even sure if it is developed using Unity. Ubisoft’s problem is most probably going to come from the potential SAG-AFTRA video game strike and we’re not sure if (1) the strike will happen and (2) if Ubisoft will be part of the struck companies as most articles only say “includes…” so it’s probably not the full list.

TL;DR of TGA 2023:
The show was 3 hour of borefest.
Speedrunning awards.
Sell out to trailers.
Games that were announced all were either si-fi/futuristic open world or cartoony blocky cutesy art style.
*snore*
Not a single game that was interesting. From that style.
Half of them looked like they were made by ubisoft. Which is not good.
BG3 took most of the awards even though I thought there were *better* games. (Im biased leave me alone)
Alan Wake II deserved better.
Jurassic Park game.... maybe I'll think about it.
Niel deserves the best performance.
Live performance of The Old Gods of Asgard was THE best segment. Feat. Sam Lake.
More awards to Bg3 for what idfk.
BLADE ANNOUNCMENT!
DBD SINGLE PLAYER GAME!
ALAN WAKE II NG+ ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Reminded me of a certain zionist game.
Speaking of which. Gave more awards to the fucking zionist.
And not a single peep about Palestine even with the damn petition from over 2.1k people to Geoff.
Geoff, when i catch you Geoff
Fucking twig looking ass zionist giving the TGOY???? What happened to the previous year TGOY winner???
Geoff REALLy like Kojima.
I love Kojima and I am looking forward to his new game but God.
Too many fucking actors featured. No one cares.
Legit became a sell out to Hollywood.
And the show became "who's gonna be able to ehow their game trailer in TGA" contest and not the actual the game awards show.
Holyfuck i got a migrain.

ICYMI - Ubisoft Forward AC Showcase Summary
The Assassin's Creed Showcase segment of Ubisoft Forward began about 50 minutes into the stream, was introduced by Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft co-founder and CEO), and was hosted by Danny Wallace (voice of Shaun Hastings) and Alice Terrett (Senior Community Developer).
TLDR: Mirage trailer and 2023 release date, more post-launch Valhalla content, three codenamed games (Red and Hexe via Project Infinity, Jade via mobile), and AC live-action show with Netflix is early in production. No mention of an AC1 remake.
Assassin's Creed Mirage
The official cinematic trailer was shown featuring Basim's early life as a thief, initiation and training as an Assassin Hidden One, and more. It looks absolutely gorgeous.
Interview with Sarah Beaulieu, Narrative Director:
The game will focus on stealth and a strong action-adventure narrative.
following Basim's life 20 years before Valhalla as a thief in Baghdad and his journey of becoming a master assassin.
We'll meet Basim's mentor Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo, and several historical characters.
Available in 2023, the preorder is available now.
15-year series recap
This showed clips from past games, conventions, cosplays, etc. Very nostalgic, I highly recommend you check it out if you missed the stream.
Beyond the Creed Documentary
A behind-the-scenes look at the series and its creation as told by fans and Ubisoft employees. Available on Ubisoft and gTV channels.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
More post-launch content is being released. "The Last Chapter", a free quest arc, was announced. Eivor will say goodbye to Ravensthorpe and travel to distant lands. 2022 release.
Marc-Alexis Côté interview (creative director of Syndicate and producer of Odyssey)
Assassin's Creed is "doubling down" on a passion for history as a powerful and eye-opening source for entertainment. New games were announced:
Codename Jade
Open-world AC game for mobile announced with a trailer. The game will take place in China (215 BCE). Players can create their own character.
Original AC live-action series and mobile game from Netflix
No details or visuals shared, but more info will be released as they get closer. The series will be an "epic, genre-bending adaptation". No news about the formerly announced animated or anime projects.
Codename Red
This will be another flagship title and the future of open-world RPG games in the AC series. Developed by the same studio as Odyssey (Ubisoft Quebec) and set in Feudal Japan.
Codename Hexe
Another flagship title in production by Ubisoft Montreal. The short trailer is apparently "full of secrets".
Project Infinity
"Not a game", but Infinity will be a single entry point for players to enter the future of AC and a hub that "unites players and experiences". Ubisoft is "investigating" standalone multiplayer experiences via the Infinity hub.
Misc. (Wider World of AC)
Also showcased are some recently released or upcoming aspects of non-game content.
Assassin's Creed Symphonic Adventure
The Making of Assassin's Creed 15th Anniversary - Looks like an artbook/behind-the-scenes collection. I can't see if it's available for purchase or preorder yet.
AC Origins Amunet Figurine by PureArts. Available for preorder.
Echoes of History - A Ubisoft Original Podcast. Several episodes are available now.
The Magus Conspiracy - Novel set in 1851 London. Available now.
AC IV: Black Flag Webtoon Sequel - not yet released, will focus of Edward's life after the events of the game.
What did you think about the showcase? It was way more than I expected!

We got some more updates about the next possible AAA title coming to the franchise, focusing on Basim! This will contain spoilers for those who have yet to learn of Basim’s full story in Valhalla.
Tumblr media
- The official release name will be Assassin’s Creed Mirage, with an estimated release date window of May-June 2023.
- Game will take place in the year 860-870 in Baghdad, following Basim in his youth starting out as a thief and meeting the Hidden Ones for the first time.
-Over the course of the game, we will learn how Loki manifests and take control of Basim’s body, seeing visions of the God of Mischief.
- Similar to the older AC games, will be able to visit multiple cities and there will be a return of the older and original game mechanics with little to no RPG elements in this instalment, such as the return of the OG eagle vision.
- With RPG elements being removed, that means Mirage won’t have a leveling system, dialogue choice, and no gender choice as Basim will be the main protagonist.
- Basim’s signature weapon will be a String Dagger.
- With all these new and returning assets, there’s been rumours circulating that these developments are also helping to get the blueprint down for an official remaster of AC1 with Altair!
- AC1 remake will be integrated the season pass for Mirage, including a DLC of Basim and Sigurd meeting for the first time.
- Ubisoft is set to announce this and much more in September 10th during the Ubisoft Forward event.

UBISOFT FORWARD 2023!
Good morning/afternoon/some time of the day or night from across the pond! I'm making the most of this jet lag with some Peanut Butter m&m's and a blog on our time at yesterday's Ubisoft Forward event! It was a morning accompanied by popcorn that showcased their (very) impressive lineup for this year and beyond!
Before I get into it, can you believe there's no coffee machine in this hotel room? Why must I suffer? It's simply unacceptable.
Now that I've had a moan we can get into it. Thanks for listening.
We had planned some video content for TikTok but upon arrival and having passed the awesome Assassin's Creed cosplayers above, we were met with this potentially day-ruining sign:
Tumblr media
We're sorry. It's not our fault.
JUST DANCE 2024
youtube
The event got underway with one the most popular music game franchises (if not THE most popular) of all time, back for 2024 with 40 new tracks and a vibey trailer that somehow transitioned from screen to live dancers on stage! I'd be lying if I said Just Dance was personally my thing but its player numbers around the globe speaks for itself! Fans will be pleased to know that "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus has made the cut, as well as all-time banger "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston!
Launching on 24th October, you can now pre-order with us here.
AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA
youtube
Getting to see more on this first person action adventure that gives us the opportunity to become Na'vi and seek revenge on the invading RDA, well, it was absolutely fantastic. We weren't exactly sure on how this title would play out but after yesterday's gameplay, consider us SOLD. Set after the events of the first Avatar film, you’ll embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen continent of Pandora! Fans of Far Cry will no doubt have also been frothing at the choice of weapons, skills and stunning scenery that awaits on this breathtaking planet! Oh and we got a release date too...
Launching on 7th December, you can now pre-order with us here.
THE CREW MOTORFEST
youtube
Car enthusiasts, fasten your seatbelts! The Crew Motorfest will officially launch on 14th September and will be using the vibrant island of O’ahu, Hawaii as its playground! The 3rd instalment in the franchise looks the part, that's for sure. From the Lamborghini Revuelto to the Toyota Supra, Hummer EV or Porsche Taycan Turbo S, there's a set of wheels and a racing feel for EVERYONE!
Tumblr media
We were told no photos but I did manage to snap this beauty as we were leaving! Sorry, Ubi - it was too good to leave without memento.
You can now pre-order with us here.
PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE LOST CROWN
youtube
No, we didn't get any news on the Sands of Time Remake but after its announcement at Summer Game Fest last week, we did get to see more on this epic side-scrolling, sword slashing, time-dashing new adventure in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown! Play as Sargon and evolve from sword-wielding prodigy to extraordinary legend as you master acrobatic combat and unlock new Time Powers and unique super abilities.
Having seen this earlier in the year on a confidential presentation, its improvements since then are astounding. This metroidvania type game has found huge popularity in recent years with many titles adopting the style! But nevertheless it stands out from a crowd and looks to be an absolute MUST play for me!
Launching on 18th January 2024, you can now pre-order with us here.
SKULL AND BONES
youtube
We're all familiar with this right me hearties? Of course. It's been due to set sail for a number of years but has regularly been met with choppy waters and uncertain tides...
Yesterday didn't deliver too much on when we can actually expect Skull and Bones to get those anchors away, but we were treated to this new trailer accompanied by a live performance from the band 'Home Free' as they sang their tune from the game!
The Closed Beta will be available 25th-28th August and you can now register here.
Of course with this already being announced, you can pre-order on our website here!
STAR WARS OUTLAWS
youtube
Having seen the trailer a couple of days ago for the long awaited open world Star Wars game that was originally teased in 2021, we've already been feeling pretty blessed... But seeing a 10 minute gameplay walk-through yesterday has excited all of us scummy, villainous gamers to no end!
Seeing Kay Vess and the adorable Nix in heist action reminded us of the loving relationship between Cal and BD-1, and that is NEVER a bad thing. From the heat of blaster-fire battle to the foot-down freedom of a speeder chase, this footage shows that 2024 will be a great time to be an Outlaw!
No official launch date has been confirmed and so there's no pre-orders just yet! But sit tight, watch the gameplay again and prepare to revel in what will be the first and incredibly ambitious open world Star Wars game to date!
ASSASSIN'S CREED MIRAGE
youtube
We're finishing up here with the extended gameplay section we saw from Assassin's Creed Mirage, and its back-to-basics stealth-centric footage that fans in the presentation were cheering for with joy and rapture!
Our assassin Basim is light on his feet and making even lighter work of those that stand in his way... The gameplay showed that mixing stealth with creativity really does deliver supreme results! Smoke bombs, blow-darts, hidden blades, it's all in a day's work for this agile and acrobatic executioner!
Ninth-century Baghdad has never looked better and we can't wait to take our place with an ancient organization known as the Hidden Ones...
Launching on 12th October, you can pre-order with us here.
If you've made it this far then I thank you for reading! For those wondering exactly how I've made it without that coffee, a five minute break at Dunkin' Doughnuts around the corner has gotten me over the line!
God bless America.
-Jack

Embracer announces "comprehensive restructuring program" to close studios, cut jobs
Tumblr media
Embracer has announced a "comprehensive restructuring program" which will result in studio closures, project cancellations and job losses.
The Swedish umbrella company has grown enormously through acquisitions over the past five years, and now owns a swathe of studios such as Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics, Borderlands maker Gearbox, rights to franchises such as The Lord of the Rings, and an array of other publishers such as Plaion, Saber and THQ Nordic.
But while amassing its empire, Embracer is yet to see a big return. Last year's big bet, its Saints Row reboot, was a critical and commercial failure. More recently, the company suffered a body blow when a major unannounced $2bn deal fell through, prompting its shares to plummet by an eye-watering 40 percent.
Today's reckoning seeks to make Embracer a "leaner, stronger and a more focused, self-sufficient company", the company's boss Lars Wingefors wrote in an open letter published this morning.

So about Ubisoft Forward
Ubisoft Forward or whatever is happening tomorrow, I’m hoping something Rayman is announced, either a Mario Vs Rabbids Rayman dlc trailer or maybe even a new game. But if anything it will at least be a small piece of merch. I am SO HYPED.
I think they are releasing at least something Rayman themed, due to the recent Idle Mine tycoon crossover with Rayman or the leak of a possible YouTooz figure, but that’s just my theory, perhaps Ubisoft is just trying to do the minimum with Rayman but doesn’t want to throw the franchise in the trash

So, I was invited at Ubisoft’s HQ last weekend for the Ubisoft Forward event (as a part of the R6S Star Player club) and boy oh boy, the event was a BLAST, there was a ton of different food everywhere, Assassin’s Creed stuff also everywhere, costumes, concept art, paintings, an Ezio statue, also Bayek, and when they announced the multiplayer as a standalone game, as a former ACMP junkie, I literally broke down and cried for 5 whole minutes.
We also had makeup stands for just dance, Skull and Bones (a makeup artist really made the best scar I ever saw in makeup on my eye) and I made a VR trip on the Death Star, attacking a Rabbid version of the Death Star with rabbids everywhere, and a ton of gifts from Ubi.
It was a fucking BLAST.

Top 10 Video Games of All Time: bobgoesw00t Edition (Part 04)
I’M BACK EVERYONE WITH PART FOUR OF THIS SERIES!!!!!!! Gonna get right down to things and let you all know my Number 07 Video Game of All Time goes to:
Tumblr media
Ghost of Tsushima or Assassin’s Creed without actually being Assassin’s Creed.
When I first heard about this game back when it was announced, I was excited and intrigued, and knowing that it was from Sucker Punch, the same studio that did the inFamous games (my favorite Superhero games that doesn’t involve a Marvel or DC character), I knew I was gonna be in for a treat. Then we went for what felt like an eternity before we FINALLY got some gameplay footage at E3 one year and HOLY FUCKING HELL WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT!!! From that point on, my excitement for this game only escalated with each preview I watched/read and I was super excited to play it because I knew that if this game did well, it had the potential to influence another franchise I love…but that’s for later.
The game finally came out, I got it for my birthday and what else can I say other than, YOU NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME!!!!!!! Not only is the story PERFECTION, the cast of characters are well written, you TOTALLY side with Jin when he makes the various decisions he does across the game, the soundtrack is phenomenal, game play is fine tuned to a T and when it comes to stealth, you can’t NOT make comparisons to Assassin’s Creed and it’s obvious that the team at Sucker Punch must have fans of the franchise and used it as an inspiration for how they approached the way of the “Ghost” that Jin goes down.
They also do a perfect job pacing when you get new abilities for Jin to use and one never feels overpowered when you put it next to a different one. The Half Bow is awesome for taking out Mongols that might spot you before you commit to going for an Assassination and the Longbow works perfectly as a Sniper Bow. As for the one on one duels that are scattered across the game, GOOD GOD those are intense and it’s SUPER satisfying when you finally finish your opponent, which is made even better with Jin cleaning his Katana and/or slowly sheathing the weapon in a dramatic fashion.
Lastly, I want to talk about the one thing Ghost of Tsushima has that most other games that came out around and after don’t have. VISUALS THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT OUT A DOUBT, THE MOST FUCKING GORGEOUS YOU’LL EVER SEEN IN A VIDEO GAME!!!!! HOLY HELL, THE COLORS AND PARTICLE EFFECTS IN THIS GAME ARE FUCKING INSANE AND THANK GOD THEY INCLUDED A PHOTO MODE!!!!! I can’t count the number of times when I’ve been running around, only to stop and take a screenshot due to how FUCKING GORGEOUS THE GAME IS!!!!!!! I’ve already posted PLENTY of screenshots here on tumblr so I HIGHLY encourage you to go look at them.
Before I give the score, I have to address the elephant in the room…that being how Ghost of Tsushima is literally Assassin’s Creed without ACTUALLY BEING ASSASSIN’S CREED. As I already mentioned, one of the reasons I was super excited for this game was due to the influence it might have on a certain franchise going forward…that franchise being Assassin’s Creed. Back in 2011, Ubisoft sent out a survey asking fans which location and time setting they would like to see in future games, with the top results being, WW II, Feudal Japan and Ancient Egypt. The Creative Director of AC3 said those were the worst settings the franchise could go…only for AC Origins to eventually come out and prove that statement was a load of bullshit and it ended up being one of the best locations in the series. The one location on the list that A LOT of fans knew could work was Feudal Japan (myself included) and we’ve had to wait forever…and ever…and ever…and ever for some hint if the next game would go there… So when Ghost of Tsushima came out and both sold well AND got near perfect reviews, I knew this would show Ubisoft that an Assassin’s Creed Game set in Japan could ACTUALLY WORK. And then we went back to waiting…and waiting…and waiting…and waiting…until our patience has FINALLY PAYED OFF when back in September, Ubisoft announced ASSASSIN’S CREED: CODENAMED RED!!!!!
I can’t help but think that the decision to finally make an entry with this setting was partially influenced by Ghost of Tsushima. We’ll have to wait a while to see if that’s the case cause the game won’t be coming out until AT LEAST 2024, as Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the title Ubisoft is releasing next year.
As for Ghost of Tsushima, regardless of it was indeed influenced by Assassin’s Creed and it will in turn, influence Codename Red, it’s still an awesome game with visuals that are still the most FUCKING GORGEOUS I’VE EVEN SEEN. When I take all the various aspects the game does perfectly, I can’t help but give Ghost of Tsushima Five Ghost Stance beheadings out of Five.
Honorable Mentions today are:
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: this game took the best parts of Origins, enhanced what needed to be, and expanded the world to insane proportions. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is THE INSANE AMOUNT OF GRINDING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO REACH LEVEL 99!!!!! That and the stupidly high amount of money and materials that are needed to fully upgrade the ship and your equipment.
Bayonetta 2: It took everything people loved about the first game and bumped it up to eleven, and got rid of the more annoying aspects when it came to combat. Not to mention Moon River Infinite Climax Mix is THE PERFECT SONG TO OPEN THE GAME UP!!!!!!
