if the catalan national team became an official team, which players do you think would go play for it?
that's a really interesting question. i would imagine that a lot of players are cap-tied with spain already. so if the rules changed and the catalan national team was allowed to participate in FIFA/UEFA official competitions as a national member association, then i wonder how that would play out. (for those who don't know the selección catalana is affiliated with rfef as a regional football federation and can play in friendlies, etc. but can't be fielded as a team for the world cup, euros, etc.)
but let's just say that a one time change was allowed, hypothetically. then here's my list:
aitana bonmati - 100%, first one to sign up, visca catalunya
patri guijarro - she's got the license already
claudia pina - hell yeah. she hates madrid and would love to kick butt in a spain v. catalunya match up
ona batlle - montse gives her the serious ick
laia aleixandri - she and her bestie ona can room together
leila ouahabi - man city already spilled the beans and it appears leila will be one of the players named to the team now, so she would join for sure because the vibes are immaculate
alexia putellas - alexia would love to be the first ever two time world cup winner with two different nations (once with spain and once with catalunya)
jana fernandez - jana goes where her mother goes (alexia)
vicky lopez - vicky also goes where her mother goes (alexia) and she's got to have a youth license, no?
marta torrejon - she's down for a good time. let her play against cgh for kicks
andrea pereira - every team needs a clown
gotta throw in all the barça b babies too!
martina fernández
lucia corrales
meritxell font
ona baradad
julia bartel

can we get the mallorquinas (cata y mariona) licenses too? maybe that's pushing the envelope...but damn this team would slap!

Euro 2022
Location & Dates: England | 6 - 31 July 2022
Fixtures and Results: UEFA Website | Wikipedia
Social Media: Twitter | Instagram
Official Streams
Link to the official broadcasters list page on UEFA
If your country does not have a commercial broadcaster, you can watch the matches live through UEFA TV. However, UEFA TV does not have full match replays.
The following countries' streams are free and have full match replays, but you need to VPN* to the specific country.
Belgium - VRT - needs signup and will ask for your personal information
Denmark - DRTV - no signup needed
Finland - Yle - no signup needed
France - TF1 - signup needed, but it's easy
Germany - ARD Sportschau - no signup needed - ZDF - no signup needed
Iceland - RUV - no signup needed
Ireland - RTE - no signup needed
Italy - RAI - signup needed, but it's easy
Netherlands - NOS (select "EK 2022 - Wedstrijden") - no signup needed
Portugal - RTP - no signup needed
Spain - RTVE (click the "Episodios" tab) - no signup needed
Sweden - SVT - no signup needed
Switzerland - SRF - no signup needed
United Kingdom - BBC (iPlayer) - signup needed (you will be asked if you have a TV license; just click "yes", it will not ask for proof)
These ☝🏽 are just the ones I've checked. There might be others with free streams with full match replays. Let me know if you know of one.
And please, please watch through the official broadcasts/streams if you can so you will be included in the audience count.
*VPN
Here's a good list of recommended VPNs for 2022. Many of these VPNs have a 30-day money-back guarantee.
ProtonVPN, in particular, has a free tier where you can connect to the Netherlands (see link above for the free-to-air stream with replays), Japan (you can watch live for free on UEFA TV), or the USA (out of the question because I think ESPN is a paid service).
If you are not familiar with how to set up VPNs, whichever service you pick from the list above will have very easy to follow instructions on how to do so.
Download from Google Drive
Link and instructions on my pinned post.
Note: I won't go out of my way to upload matches quickly because 1- I either need to screen-record a match (unwieldy and takes 2+ hours of the actual match + pre/post-match) or VPN to country that doesn't encrypt their stream (slow and takes 2+ hours) so I can download it, AND 2- This tournament is broadcasted for free in a lot of countries; I would very much like for people to watch through the official streams.
(I am still making downloads available for the kid who doesn't have the money to sign up for paid subscriptions, or for the people in a country where credit cards are not a common thing or ~$10 for a month of VPN is really expensive. Those are whom these downloadable videos are primarily for.)

As mentioned a high salary isn't the most important. Actual game minutes like Amy said matters for player development. Another factor is the training environment and I'm not talking about facilities and resources. I'm talking about the quality of training and the quality of team mates, how many better than average players there are in a team.
Our youth talents for sure get top quality team mates in the absolute top clubs like Chelsea where there are mostly starting XI national team players for every position and on the bench. But that's not the case for the mid to lower table teams in WSL and that's where our young Swedish players have a higher chance of getting a good amount of game minutes.
Elisabeth Gunnarsdottir, who's coached Kristianstad for 15 years until now, mentioned she's watching a lot of other leagues and said the Damallsvenskan is still the most tactical league out there. Plus that all teams across the table have taken steps and closed the gap to the top teams. In Sweden it's a requirement for a head coach to have a UEFA Pro coaching license, the highest there is. As far as I know that's not the case in England. As a sidenote there's a reason both Anja Mittag and Ella Masar chose to take their coaching licenses in Sweden and not in another European country.
It's evident Beta's words ring true. First the big European clubs came for our players. Now they come for our players and our coaches... It's individual but our youth talents would fare better to not take the step abroad until they've at least turned 22. If nothing else to have time to build up their physique. Take Kafaji for example. She's said her long time injury gave her time to build muscles and get more of a senior player body than a junior player body.
Let's not forget there is a big step youth talents need to take in order to develop from a junior player to a senior player. We're kinda still waiting for Bennison to become the big player she has the potential to be and she's played in England since summer 2021 when she was 18. She was sooooo good in the Tokyo Olympics but after her move to Everton, the good performances she's done for Sweden is unfortunately rare. I think Bennison should do a Blackstenius. Or a Janogy. Come home to play for a season or two and then go abroad again.
yea like i've said before the best path to look at might be Ps. she had offers for more bigger clubs when she first moved abroad but she chose Linkoping cause she was gonna be guaranteed consistent playing minutes and then they helped her develop. imo theres only so much a player can develop from training. its like mosy things you have to put the study into action to see it work

okay so. here's a few notes for the two aces genderbend au:
keeley is still a girl. she's a dyke now.
rebecca, instead of sabotaging richmond to get back at rupert, opens a women's team and puts all their funding on it
richmond women are a middle table team at best because chelsea/arsenal/city are a pain in the ass on every universe
jamie's dad kinda leaves her alone bc mysoginy but only appears when it comes to city playing in a cup final or something
jamie is more like a subtle prick bc we all know how women are socialized to be bla bla bla
dani left liga mx thinking this would be good for her career but in reality is like, a glow down
"back in mexico i used to play in sold out stadiums" is what everyone hears for the first few weeks
if you're new here wsl teams give their foreign players housing accomodations. this means dani will probs live with sam, richard, zoreaux, etc
lots of chaos in that house
ted is still there. but he actually did his uefa licenses now! so he's not half bad. there's probs tedbecca, we'll see
roy is now a woman too and is in a lesbian relationship with keeley. i'm not hearing criticism about this.

Exciting potential changes coming to Danish football
DBU has announced a draft to a potential “fast track” for women’s team to jump straight to first division and therefor will (technically) only need a season to qualify for Gjensidige Kvindeliga.
The draft made is with intentions of teams using the fast track beginning the 2024/2025 season
The demands to for the team to go this way involves things like:
- An assistant coach with a minimum of a uefa B license
- Physical trainer with either a BA or approved experience
- Physiotherapist who has to be at attendance for all home games
- A continues collaborative with a doctor
- A person responsible for all ongoing communication around talent scouts / trainer teams / playing and technical style / employments
- An approved plan for contracts prior to 1/6/2024 containing:
• 6 full-time and 10 part-time contracts employed by 1/9/2024
• 10 full-time, 10 part-time and 6 youth contracts by 1/9/2025
This is all in no way an organic form and it’s obvious this was only made for the big clubs like FCK and FCM to not “waste” years in small leagues but also DBU pushing them to actually invest in the women’s teams they are forced to create from UEFA. The positive thing is the potential wave this might create. If FCK gets into Gjensidige with a minimum of 10 full-time contracts, the other teams there have to somewhat follow lead to keep up. Is it bad for the smaller teams? Yes. But quite frankly amateur teams shouldn’t have a place in the top league anyway, otherwise we won’t get anywhere.

Slight correction: Elena hasn't stopped being a coach. She's recently been accepted to take the Uefa pro coaching license. In other words she's a coach and a wag
I was just trying to be funny cause she's not currently coaching 😅 I know she's going to do her pro licence and I think that's amazing!

In addition to the anon who asked about Slegers she's coached Rosengård's U17 or U19 team, Sweden U23, Rosengård's A-squad and she was part of Swewnt's video analytics and scouting staff for the World Cup this summer.
She took over Rosengård after Eidevall left and has led them to league titles, cup titles plus coached them in CL. But with the poor results this season she was sacked before the World Cup started. She has a UEFA Pro coaching license, the highest available.
yea she's a brilliant edition to the Arsenal training staff
