Aids Pandemic hits the Twin Peak's Bar

9/29/1990 Saturday

Drove to San Fransisco. Ran into Dick. He said that a mutual bar tender friend from Twin Peaks Bar now dies of Aids. His legs are paralyzed. He is in a hospital bed in the living room of his parent's house. His Mom and sister are there. And the blonde bomb shell bar tender takes AZT. 4th bar tender there to go. He will never be back. terminal.

The paper on 9/28/1990 said the 80's were nothing. We are in for an Aids pandemic 10 times what we have seen.

I said to Cliff last night that our little core of (gay) folks in Modesto waits. If the worst hits, we can train to support others. The paper says you change your (sexual) habits or you die.

Gay relationship at 2 years

March 28, 1999. Sunday. Jim’s house on Chenery Street, San Francisco, California. 8:55am

KPFA radio, CNN, and  stereo morning!

Jim and I approach our two year anniversary. That’s a big one in a gay relationship per the 3/25/1999 edition of Frontier magazine.

The article is good in that it gets us talking about relationship.

Jim phones his parents just now as “Duet” plays on KPFA. A 9am Sunday tradition.

“Bye, bye, love you both. Jim hangs up.

9:17am

A friend comes and goes with bounding Gessepie, his smelly boxer dog.

We all  enjoy a bit of early am red wine.

The sun glows warm on my shoulders. Nice. 

Jim seems relaxed and I tell him so.

So, back to relationships. But, why name it?

Really, we are one guy living a life with one guy living a life. Second by second. 

It’s not about a lot of planning. It’s more a feeling, and, out of that common feeling, things happen. Keep your shoulder to it. You never know.

We hear whisperings from our past and from our archetype self. 

But, we live more on planet earth, now.

We worry about alcohol abuse, but, it remains in our lives.

I point out that, out of the Twin Peak’s Tavern drinking friends, few have partners. One has a relationship with his glass.

So, we are unique.
