Tummy shaper, bodysuit, shaping top, tummy-tucker, extended-brief and waist slimmer etc. are some Fancy names for shapewears. A shapewear is worn under the dress as a temporary means of altering the shape of the body, and gives an illusion of a flat stomach and a curvy waist (hourglass figure, as the ads claim). But how useful they actually are? 🤔 Let's get in to it! 🧐 These elasticised garments claim to reduce the body to fit into one to three sizes smaller, instantly. However, the effect is temporary and long term use can do some serious damage to the body, such as: Weaken Abdominal Muscles- The abdominal muscles work as an INSIDE support for our abdominal wall that holds the FLAT shape of the tummy. It is the same muscles that get loose (sometimes separated) during major weight loss and/or pregnancy. With regular exercise and a healthy diet, you can improve the muscles' strength again, but it takes time (years may be!). A shapewear may be your rescue when attending a social event to help hide the tummy flab, but if you use it regularly, you are telling your abdominal muscles to stop doing their job (i.e. provide internal support) and depend on the OUTSIDE support provided by the shapewear. This way, those muscles will never return to their normal, tighter position!👎 Apart from that, the constant outside pressure can also affect your lung function, digestion, bowel movements, blood circulation and bladder function, and can cause numbness and meralgia paresthetica (compression of peripheral nerves in the thighs and causes tingling, numbness and pain). It didn’t occur to me at first that there would be heavy editing or surgery responsible for plus size models still looking better than life. I feel gullible and very naïve. Like why wouldn’t they? I just felt so relieved to see anyone even close to my body type at first. I accepted that I still must be flawed in some way. Not that someone else created a new weird unachievable beauty standard out of plus sized fashion too. I hate that after so many years I can still be fooled. Like even models for lingerie and stuff. Having a thick body but no rolls. No neck fat. No weird lumps or cellulite. It’s sad and irritating to still not have a natural fat body be okay. I’m glad you said something because it is frustrating.

I think lots of ppl don't think of plus sized models as having work done opposed to straight sized models, but it's like... yeah those girlies have had lots done LMAO and no matter how body positive a brand wants to be, chances are they're being photoshopped to look different too

✨3 weeks post-op Tummy Tuck & Breast Reconstruction✨ The last 3 weeks have not been fun. I know everybody experiences pain differently.. but y’all.. this surgery is no joke😂 Don’t get me wrong - I’m so happy I did it & have absolutely ZERO regrets.. but that shit hurts😂 Here’s a couple updates : •The last drain finally came out on Monday since it was starting to get infected. Plus the line was breaking from stripping all the time & I had trimmed it as much as I could. So it was time. Y’all weren’t lying when you said you make a complete 180 when the last drain comes out!! I feel soooo much better than I did just a couple days ago!! •My hips are still swollen.. hell my whole body still feels swollen but the 2nd picture shows how much it has gone down over 3 weeks! My back in particular is finally starting to return to its normal shape. Bruising is also getting better slowly. •I tried a compression binder that I bought before surgery & it felt like it was ripping my muscles apart so I actually decided to get some spanx high compression garments. These are feeling much better & actually more supportive! This is what my surgeon recommended from the start but I thought a binder would be better.. clearly he knows best😂 •Went back to work today & did better than I expected. Getting up & down is still sore but I can feel it getting better every day. •Slept in a bed over the weekend with about a hundred pillows & I just was not comfortable. Never thought I would be excited to get back home to my recliner 😂 •Biggest focus right now is my fluids & trying not to overdo it. I’ve always had an issue with getting enough fluids since VSG, but have got to start making it a bigger priority. That & not trying to be superwomen when I feel slightly normal 🙃 Anyways.. thank y’all for the continuous love & support!
