Two characters are unnamed because while the Champions have twenty four listed members, one of them is Devil Dinosaur, and the other is Scott Summers. The first is a dinosaur. The second will be a mentor. Also Cloud Nine is cut bc the gender divide between the champs was 13-11, and she was the one I knew about the least, so I replaced her with Speed, which was explained in the ticket I wrote for him

Gabby is a Career Tribute, but she meant to wait longer before volunteering, but districts one two and four were stopped from doing that

Joaquin is in District 2 bc in the MCU they put him in the Air Force

District 3 is tech, so Riri is obvious. But David from his time working for hero support.

Qureshi is on the beach bc his portal powers help him smuggle people over the ocean, which is a major part of his backstory, and the overall plot of the fic.

Viv is in the power district so she can absorb all the newly generated power

Kamala and Kareem are in transportation district bc. Their adventure on the train. (This isn't going to ship them I just thought it was a fun connection)

Miles is in textiles bc spiders. Weave. Haha.

Amka is in textiles for a better plot reason. So that when she gets involved with people in her district helping others escape the country, she picks up on the patterns they weave into cloth to send messages, and then use that knowledge when she gets her northern lights powers.

Fernanda is in grain to guide escaping people through the fields.

Sam is in grain bc. Aliens. Crop circles.

Lunella is with livestock to get her used to working with large animals before she meets Devil Dinosaur in the Arena

Amadeus is working in District 11 to crossbreed plants for max yield. He's very respected for this, which allows him to work on the Hulk formula and control sleeve, though that isn't allowed into the Games.

Tiana (with Amadeus' help) operates a set of mechanical wings to speed up harvest. Only allowed bc she had a rope attached to the ground tied around her.

Victor's power is to sense the history in a place, and draw power from it. He is able to use the relative freedom of District Twelve to get pulled into anti-capitol movements gathered in centers of their old culture.

BIOGRAPHY:

Nova belonged to one of the great witch covens, the eldest and most powerful child of the High Priestess. Taught from a young age how to control, use, and create with her light magic.

Her marriage ; HAD to be arranged, because the coven's powers weren't strong enough with a lot of them dying out/being killed, and they needed to combine them to make them stronger so they took the two more powerful children of the elders of each coven and arranged for them to be married at like 17 years old.

So at the age of 17, Nova was married off to the eldest son of the coven opposite her own. Alejandro González.

Though she didn't really love him at first, she grew to love him as time went on, Nova had their daughter; Gabriella, at the age of only 21 years old.

Alejandro dabbled too much in and out of t he darker magic he possessed, and was teaching it to their daughter once he started again, as he had quit for a while to protect his wife and daughter from harm, but when he started again he was teaching Gabby. Though he went too far with it at one point and nearly injured his wife and daughter to a point that Nova decided to pack up Gabby and herself, when Gabby was just 10 years old. Moving them from El Paso, Texas, to Mystic Falls, Virginia. Taking back her maiden name and flying as far under the radar as possible to keep him from finding them.

Nova couldn't risk him hurting either of them again. He was getting out of control with his dark magic and she couldn't handle anything happening to their daughter.

The divorce papers were delivered to him, signed and sent away to finalize their divorce, and to this day, as her daughter is now 21, herself; they have not heard from him. Thankfully, Nova wishes to keep it that way as well.

She would do anything to protect her daughter and keep her safe.

Meanwhile, since leaving him; Nova has went and become a respected and well looked up to, Doctor. Has since retired from her career as a doctor and bought a Restaurant -- naming it Sweet Treats. Because there is always a dessert for someone to love and they say her place is the best in town to get dessert from. Her restaurant is half just a restaurant, and half a cafe type hangout with coffee and treats and more of the sweets she provides the town to enjoy.

Nova is sometimes overbearing, controlling and likes to know exactly what is going on as she likes to be very involved in all projects and is very protective of her staff and their rights as well.

Nova doesn't like things to be out of her control if she can help it, because she feels like it was her fault that she couldn't stop her ex-husband from dabbling in the dark arts, and that she feels is her fault that he hurt her and their daughter so many years ago.

Nova is loving, passionate, caring and stubborn. But always wants the very best for those she loves and or cares about deeply.

Coffee. That was something that Jenna needed well besides blood, but she had that and had more than enough to last her. At this moment, she didn't want to drink the station's coffee. Not that she didn't like it, because she did. She really did. But right now, she was craving something more. Ever since coming back from the dead, Jenna had settled in just fine, becoming Sheriff. Getting her blood from the hospital thanks to her niece. So she was thankful for that at least she wasn't going out and killing people.

Moving inside, Sweet Treats it almost seemed like she was here every day around the same time. Heading up to the counter, she smiled over at the brunette. "Hey, how are you today? Can I get a black coffee please and what kind of desserts do you guys have today?" Maybe it was a sweet tooth. This place was different than most in town. It was half fancy restaurant and the other half was basically a cafe type of style. Jenna liked it, the vibe. All of it.

TORRES, My Brightest Diamond, & Aisha Burns Live Show Review: 1/18, Lincoln Hall, Chicago

Many times throughout TORRES' set Thursday night at Lincoln Hall, Mackenzie Scott remarked how polite the audience was. While we're from the Midwest and are certainly very nice, I think we were just enraptured. First and foremost, Scott is an intense songwriter whose lyrics are diaristic, who puts her whole body into her guitar playing. Live, she demands attention. You never know when she's going to scream--she chose a good moment on "Helen in the Woods"--or show vulnerability with a creaky falsetto, like on love devotional "Gracious Day". Meanwhile, her scraggly guitars followed her vocal delivery on "Skim", as she shredded, leaning towards the crowd. Her atonal laying on "Sprinter" provided a sharp contrast to J.R. Bohannon's shimmery pedal steel. Over 10 years into playing as TORRES, traversing aesthetics and soundscapes, Scott has developed the stage presence to match the ferocity of the songs themselves.

But then there was another reason we wanted to remain silent and soak it all in: the new TORRES songs from What an enormous room, out this Friday via Merge. For many in the crowd, this past Thursday was the first time hearing tunes bound to become new favorites in the catalog. I watched smiles form on the faces of folks realizing the plucky "Jerk into joy" will become an anthem, as Scott sang, "What an enormous room / Look at all the dancing I can do!" As as it was the band's second night playing these songs on tour, each member relished their opportunities to stand out, from Rosie Slater's driving drums on "Forever home" to Erin Manning's fried synths on "Happy man's shoes". Towards the end of the set, someone yelled, "Play 'Honey'!," referring to the song that made many of us fall in love with TORRES' music in the first place. They never played it. Had this been the last time TORRES played Lincoln Hall, I might have walked away disappointed. But years later, 6 records in, Scott's catalog runs deep enough that the supposed enormity of "Honey" is a small hike compared to the canyon sounds of her most recent material.

Opening for TORRES was two artists who haven't released full-length albums since 2018 but are experimenting live with new material: My Brightest Diamond, the long-running chamber folk project of singer-songwriter Shara Nova, and multi-instrumentalist/former Balmorhea member Aisha Burns. Nova played solo, using percussion backing tracks and samples, walking out to the audio clip of the late, great Sinead O'Connor saying, "Fight the real enemy" on Saturday Night Live after tearing a picture of Pope John Paul II following her a capella rendition of Bob Marley & The Wailers' "War". Many of Nova's songs, both new and old, responded to O'Connor's fearless spirit. Nova's vocals were show-stopping on "Fight the Real Terror (for Sinead)", controlled over the harmonics of the recorded drums on "Imaginary Lover". Finger-snapping new single "Black Sheep" expanded on themes of ostracization and its oft-permanence even when the court of public opinion changes its mind, pertinent to O'Connor's story. In context, All Things Will Unwind standout "Be Brave", too, acted in spirit with Nova's newer material. "Imagine all the flutes and bass clarinets," Nova quipped to old-school My Brightest Diamond fans, but she didn't need to ask us; lines like, "Shara, this is going to hurt," tugged at our emotions more than any instrumentation could.

Woodruff & Burns

Really, it was up to Aisha Burns to yield happy tears from instruments. Accompanied by guitarist Jake Woodruff, she graced us with atmospheric loops, violin, guitar, and falsetto vocals. Songs from 2018's Argonauta (Western Vinyl) hypnotized the crowd, the dual guitar sway of "I Thought I Knew You Well" and impassionedly picked and sung "We Were Worn". And yes, she performed her great cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game", her vibrato and vocal harmonies with Woodruff standing tall against the sensuousness of the original. The performance got me excited for whatever comes next for Burns, whether original material or more clever covers.
