This was made in 88 and may have been shown #At a festival or two‚ but didn't see wide release until '90; it must have dated pretty quick because everything about this screams bargain #Basement 80s schlock horror. Still it doesn't outstay its welcome and some of the effects are pleasingly silly #Including the acid man monster getting real weird with some guy on the toilet... Not a classy movie. But then what can you expect when #Literally the first thing you hear in the film as the credits start is a flushing toilet. Remarkably apt.

Pledge Night will be released on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on September 24. Orders placed directly from Vinegar Syndrome ($24.99) will receive an embossed slipcover designed by Earl Kessler Jr., limited to 2,000.

The 1990 independent slasher film is directed by Paul Ziller (The Philadelphia Experiment). Todd Eastland, Shannon McMahon, and Arthur Lundquist star. Anthrax performs the soundtrack and singer Joey Belladonna makes a cameo appearance.

Pledge Night has been newly restored in 2K from its 35mm interpositive. It features reversible artwork. Special features are listed below, where you can also see the slipcover.

It's hazing season at Phi Up and the boys are up to all sorts of nasty pranks on their hapless pledges, in between regular bouts of 'wetting their whistles' at the campus watering hole…with some of the area's beautiful sorority babes. But this is going to be one literal 'hell week' as they unwittingly unleash the spirit of Acid Sid; an unfortunate pledge who was accidentally dissolved in acid during a hazing prank gone wrong some 20 years earlier. As the helpless fratboys and pledges fall victim to Sid's wrath and seemingly indestructible towering zombie corpse, it's up to the stragglers to figure out how to kill someone who's been dead for two decades, or die trying.

You take the good, you take the great, you take the A-list and there you have… the Facts of Life live cast! On Tuesday, Dec. 7, Jimmy Kimmel and legendary sitcom creator Norman Lear are bringing back their live re-creations of classic TV episodes, this time with episodes of the oh-so-’80s sitcoms Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life airing 8-9:30 p.m. Fun fact for those who don’t know or remember: The Facts of Life—which, over nine seasons, followed a quartet of boarding-school girls from adolescence through young adulthood—was actually a spinoff of Diff’rent Strokes, the iconic sitcom about two Black brothers from Harlem (originally played by Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges) raised by Mr. Drummond (Conrad Bain), a rich, white Upper East Side widower. The linchpin between the two shows was the character of Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae), who served as the Drummonds’ housekeeper before taking a new job as a house mother at the fictitious Eastland School for Girls where The Facts of Life was originally set.

THE BIO

Jacen grew up with a juxtaposed view of life. His father, Willis, had been the strictest man he’d ever met. He had high expectations for his children. Willis Warren held high expectations for his family. While he was nothing special, he wanted to raise children who were exceptional. He wanted them to be tough, fierce. He wanted to boast in pride of his children. He would spare no opportunity to do so. If one of Jacen’s friends had bested him in a friendly sparring session, if they were faster than him in a race, he would hear about it in the most negative of ways. It was almost as if there was no pleasing the man and yet, he expected effort that bore his pride.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, his mother Sheila couldn’t be more pleasant. She was a nurturing woman and yet she allowed the words his dad spewed the venom from his words, long lasting to occur. She always tended to simply smooth it over. She was the fixer, mending their wounded egos and broken hearts after he’d never had the opportunity to make his father proud. Time and time again from childhood onward, all he wanted to do was finally shut the man up. The constant pitting him against his friends caused Jacen to push people away. To keep his family life separate than his social circle. It was exhausting that nothing he’d done was ever right, despite his mother’s words to soothe him.

This set Jacen on a path that pushed him toward a life within the pack rather than a life embracing his vampire nature.. He’d been a committed and respected member of the pack, working his way up to being a Delta in the pack. Third in command. With how many in the pack were mortal, Jacen watched many live and die, but he still remained a devoted delta. It was a job that his father respected and yet still had critiques. He trained, sparred and passed on knowledge to the others of the pack, and was always grateful that though he couldn’t turn at will, his animal telepathy and his enhanced roar still allowed him to communicate with the wolves while they were in wolf form. He spent most of his time fascinated by different fighting styles, and reading up as well as sparring to try different things. He was devoted to arming his pack with not just weapons but knowledge of how to use their strengths and how to compensate for their weaknesses.

Jacen had become measured and observant of others, the many years of his father chastising the things he said and did, had made him more silent than outspoken unless he was comfortable. Every word he said was often a censored version of what he thought and what he should do. His quiet and observant nature helped to make him a great trainer for the pack,, but he couldn’t say that those skills truly made for the same outside of teaching.

My favorite items in today’s roundup are these Ghurka bags -- the Expediter, Examiner, and Courier No. 8. They were made back in the heydays of the company, when Marley Hodgson owned the brand and everything was manufactured in the USA. The company has since passed hands a few times, and some of what was once off-shored has now been brought back, but I still think the vintage stuff feels the nicest. The leathers back then just felt heavier and had more of an interesting character.
