"ah, salaak. how long has it been," sinestro seems all too confident in his stride, a light tilt of his head the only obvious sign of his entertainment. "still the guardian's lapdog, are you not? not for long, certainly, but some things don't change by themselves."

'Not nearly long enough,' as some of his fellow Corpsmen might quip.

Salaak, on the other hand, would much rather focus on hacking away at the traitor with four construct swords than crafting witty one-liners. Alas, the current situation he finds himself in- bound in chains of yellow energy so tightly he has to fight to let out a disgusted hiss from the spiracles on his chest- makes that rather difficult to achieve. He'll have to settle for a different approach, then.

Not shrinking in the slightest at the overbearing approach, his own pride evident in his refusal to forfeit even an inch of height difference, Salaak holds his former comrade's gold gaze. But under the surface, he tenses the muscles in his legs, tightening them like bowstrings ready to be let loose.

"Your arrogance is just as unchanged." His internal mandibles click together, sharp and harsh. "Your resilience would be impressive if not derived from inability to accept being wrong."

[ not to toot my own character development horn but. Hrhrhhrnrnrh I am occasionally exceptionally unwell about the dichotomy I've made between Bro'Dee and Salaak despite their Corps being allies. Not just in the sense of expanding upon one of their exceedingly few interactions, but in how they're opposing parallels. ]

[ Bro'Dee is staunchly optimistic, but struggles with self-doubt which rivals even his stubborn insistence that all will be well at times. He's oddly human in his mannerisms and parts of his appearance, then does something without needing his ring (i.e. jogs along at a steady trot for upwards of 20 miles, lifts two or more of the human Lanterns at once or even a car-like vehicle, munches on a whole ass raw crab shell and all like it's an apple) or has some anatomical feature (a cross between an elephant's trunk and rattlesnake rattle on the back of his skull, both "male" and "female" sex organs, a respiratory system that can not only swotch between air and water but fresh and saltwater.) He's extremely social and does not handle being alone for long, making friends wherever he goes, but is often forced to work with a planet’s suffering inhabitants for company. ]

[ Salaak is an infamous pessimist, yet finds himself contradicting himself and hoping against hope for the safety of those few he's come to care for in times of danger. He's utterly alien in appearance and mannerisms (all arms can operate independently of each other, several sets of smaller eyes in addition to his obvious primary pair, frankly fucked up grasshopper muscles in his legs, a tongue so long it has to sit rolled up in a specia part of his throat, the list goes on), yet has suffered such unfortunately but unmistakably Earthly experiences (systemic oppression, educational and occupational discrimination, labor abuse, and living in a caste system to name a few.) He's guarded himself from the other Lanterns and even his own kind before being recruited, doubly so after his Lantern partner died, yet despite himself has grown fond of Soranik, Kilowog, and (most begrudging of all) Guy. ]

[ GOSSIP ]: the sender turns to face the receiver conspiratorially, clearly eager to share some new gossip with them. (for salaak!)

And just like that- with only a single word- Salaak's blood pressure has been raised at least 30 points. Truly, Hal Jordan is a talented terran, outclassed only by Gardner.

Both sets of shoulders hunching up, Salaak gives a loud sigh and declines to turn and face Hal directly. (If his simple, secondary eyes could glare, all those on Hal's side most certainly would be.) Instead, he maneuvers a hovering data-construct between himself and the other Lantern, increasing its size to further block him out with just a gesture. In all honesty, Salaak does have important work to attend to- when does he not?- but that particular screen is nothing more than med-bay statistics.

Some would call Salaak foolish for attempting to ignore one of the most willful beings in the universe. To which he would remind them that they bear the same symbol for a very good reason.

Slyggians are natural multi-taskers- he will have absolutely no trouble continuing his work while simultaneously ignoring Hal.

The parent producing the eggs enters a state of heightened hormones, becoming almost insatiable, releasing airborne pheromones to attract and excite their mate

The copulation itself typically takes a day, resting and refuelling between sessions; orgasm isn't necessary for an egg to be released, but it does assist in the process

The eggs produced are only half fertilized, needing to be fully fertilized and essentially "woken up" by the hormones of the other parent; it's common and encouraged for the parent carrying the brood to be pleasured and brought to orgasm many times throughout their term, their fluids changing to be filled with important vitamins and proteins for their young's development

To call the expression on his face 'surprise' would be a grave understatement. He takes the garment, his first pair of hands holding it up at the shoulders, the second pair gently feeling the yarn. Salaak isn't certain what to with a gift- the last thing he was given by another was his ring.

After a long moment of looking at the sweater, he holds it to his chest and- with an uncharacteristically small voice- says, "thank you. I... Thank you."
