San Geronimo de Taos. This was (at least) the third mission built in Taos. At least one version was destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt in 1680. There may have been others before that, because Taos resisted conversion from the moment the Franciscan priests arrived. Another was destroyed during the Taos Revolt, an uprising during the Mexican-American war.

The feast day of San Gerónimo begins this evening at Taos Pueblo with festive dancing, followed by vespers. In English this would be Saint Jerome, but no one here ever uses the English form of his name. The great church of San Gerónimo was destroyed by the US Army in 1847, with all who were sheltering inside killed—one of the greatest war crimes committed in US history. That horrific massacre is also commemorated this evening across the state of New Mexico.
[Scott Horton]  [list of Indian Massacres]
* * * * “I was warmed by the sun, rocked by the winds and sheltered by the trees as other Indian babes. I can go everywhere with a good feeling. — Geronimo 1829 – 1909 Apache” ― Geronimo, Geronimo: his own Story
