Question about your Cappy- does he still allow Mario to possess enemies or does he posses them himself to work with Mario?

(okay i wrote out a whole big post about this on mobile but i guess it never posted so I’m BACK with a vengeance and on desktop now)

By TNMS standards, each and every moving thing (and sometimes objects that do not move) has a consciousness and life of their own. And that makes it so the possession mechanic present in Super Mario Odyssey becomes an uncomfortable thing, something dicey around the ethics and consent of it. So I’ve got a workaround for it.

As opposed to pulling Mario into someone else’s body, Cappy can cast an illusion that just makes Mario look like the species he wants to. Similar to the way a Douplighost works, but instead of looking like a complete copy, it makes him look like he would if he were that species instead of human (which makes for interesting art and character design I think)!

Something like this:

It’s important to remember that Mario will take worse and worse damage the longer he’s without his cap. And at the beginning of Super Mario Odyssey, Mario’s cap is torn to shreds–he now Cannot return to his cap. So that’s where Cappy comes in! Cappy replaces Mario’s hat throughout the time they’re together, and essentially needs to stay close to him and at his side for his own health. Of course, Mario eventually gets a new cap, one that looks just like his old one, one that satisfies the need for Mario to have his hat. And Cappy can leave and go back to Bonneton.

But hopefully, by that time, it feels like saying goodbye to a friend as opposed to finishing an obligation.

Okay, question about TNMS. What the frick is happening in Odyssey considering Lesbian Bowsella. Are the two being force to marry by an outside force, are Mario and Cappy stuck trying to find the Mushroom kingdom but the Odyssey just keeps ficking up and they need to fight a rabbit for the moon, what's going on there?

Nothing changes about the plot at its core.

Bowsella doesn't love Toadstool, Bowsella loves the power Toadstool has.

The Mushroom Kingdom is rich in resources and political power, and the cleanest way to get a hold of it would for the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms to merge. And the only way to do so--since Toadstool refused the propositions and conditions Bowsella gave him the first few times--was to marry him instead and force the two kingdoms to come together.

This has nothing to do with her sexuality, mind you. This is a decision made with her people and her kingdom in mind. It's only a legal title. And even if she DID accomplish it, if you think that would deter her from having lovers and relationships, then you're very mistaken. What are they going to do, tell her not to? She's the queen, she does what she wants!!!
