no offense, but as a long time watcher of gmmtv - have you ever ventured outside of it when it comes to Thai media? because i and quite a big number of my (thai) peers regularly watch their shows, but it’s less about them being ‘good’ and more about being entertained, given how fast they’re churned out. i wouldn’t say the gp would ever consider a gmmtv show particularly great - good is even a stretch - and when it comes to production there’s not a lot of prestige either (by which i mean very few directors if any are household names). I’d imagine the equivalent of what gmmtv produces for western audiences would be trashy soap operas. What I’m trying to say is artists might blow up (specifically like Tu, Bright, and Win) but that’s not the norm and they tend to actually gain prominence when they venture outside of gmmtv shows.

I feel like I do a pretty good job of at least giving most BLs out of Thailand a chance. I miss a pulp every now and then, but I certainly don’t limit myself to GMMTV. My MDL is here if you want to critique my taste lol. I’ve rated 3 Thai BLs 10/10. One is from GMMTV, the other two are from different production houses.

I’m not entirely sure what this ask is in reference to, but I don’t think I’ve ever claimed that GMMTV is high cinema. In fact, I called it the gay Disney channel just earlier today. I, personally, happen to like trashy soap operas and I generally prefer GMMTV shows because the subs are decent, they’re easy to access, and they’ve got a bunch of actors I enjoy.

My understanding about the Thai entertainment industry in general is that it is very difficult for a BL actor to gain prestige in the first place considering there is still such a stigma against the genre. So with all due respect, I don’t really care too much about how popular these actors are in Thailand. If they’re looking to become more famous domestically then yeah, they should probably start acting in lakorns, but I wouldn’t wish a heterosexual plot line on my worst enemy. I mean, how boring would that be?

Just for the record, anon, I watch literally every BL I can get my hands on so a list of the BLs I'm currently watching is also a list of the BLs easily accessible to me just in general... I don't take taste into account in terms of watching, just in terms of criticism and discussion of the show.

But I do have a list! I'm on MDL under this same name and I do track what I watch.

Anyway!

Here's my current watchlist in order of excitement.

Minato Shouji Coin Laundromat (Japan is doing everything right with this in all the wrong ways and I love it so much)

Oh! My Sunshine Night (this show is gonna hurt us but I don't even care, it's feeding my serious soap opera feeling right now.)

My Secret Love (this was much lower but we've hit a point that I'm genuinely enjoying this show. A weak start but now there's a lot of drama coming in and the characters are actually growing... at least the side characters?)

Want To See You (O2 Productions just works for me, okay?)

Senpai, This Can't Be Love! (I like it, what can I say? It's just mutual pining with a different cover on it and I'm here for that.)

Vice Versa (Anything resembling sci-fi gets me, okay? I don't know if I trust it yet but... eh, low standards for GMMTV.)

Unforgotten Night (I enjoy trash.)

Love Mechanics (Ultimate messy, messy done right, gonna hurt so much though.)

In a Relationship (It's Gameboys but from Thailand and only 5 minutes per episode so a slightly different twist. Enjoyable but... really mediocre.)

Check Out (Growing on me but not exactly my actual taste?)

Memories (Vietnam but the subs by YoungLiveTivi are just... bad.)

Sky In Your Heart (I am watching this show entirely because I started it.)

I should be watching Even Sun but I just haven't started and haven't found the willpower to do so either.

Introduction to IETM and IETP (JSG-0852 and S1000D)

Technical manuals (e.g. maintenance, user, training, operations, etc.) published in electronic format are becoming more and more popular than paper-based manuals for their interactivity, convenience, and ease of use.

For example, the maintenance and operation manuals of a warship, which used to occupy 300 -350 sq. feet of prime area with thousands of pages of technical literature

It is difficult to refer to some operating process or troubleshooting from thousands of hardcopies

To address these issues IETMs were introduced

IETMs are a portable, electronic “library” that contains thousands of pages of documentation and images, Videos, and allows end-users to trace technical documentation in a more efficient manner, and the digital nature provides a more agile and accurate method of updating technical documentation.

• Level 0 :- Scanned Image / Digital format

• Level 1: Simple PDF with multiple pages

• Level 2: PDF with hyperlinks to index along with Images.

• Level 3: HTML-based pages, similar to a website, where all the content is presented HTML pages along with a Table of content at onside. Linear format following the logic of the content. Next previous buttons with very limited search functionality

• Level 4: Advanced IETM with database, and user management, Powerful search and Content, and Document management facility.

There are two specifications/standards that exist.

IETM — (JSG 0852:2001)

Standards are Designed and Developed by the Directorate of Standardization Department of Defense Production. Ministry of Defense, New Delhi

Guidelines Framed by:

Stakeholders and steering committee:

Army, Navy, Air force, Scientist of Defense labs, Capt., Lt. Cdr from various organizations

Labs: BEL, ADG systems, NHQ, ACAS, HAL, BDL, GRSE, Goa Shipyard, MIDHANI, MDL, BEML, DQAL, Dte Standardization, CQA, DS cell Bangalore, etc.

IETP — S1000D

Stakeholders and steering committee:

Jointly produced by Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD), Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA), and ATA e-Business Program.

JSG — 0852: 20001

1. Needs Raw content to covert to SQL Database

2. HTML/SGML as source file

3. IETM has an inbuilt Authoring tool, Content management tool, User Management, and reporting

4. Works in Standalone and Client-server mode

5. IETM has Viewer and Administrator and Author Modules

6. Content can be edited by OEM without any tool

7. In short, OEM need not have any software to deploy IETM.

S1000D

Needs Raw content to covert to XML Database

XML as a source file

OEM or the place IETM is being deployed must have a CSDB webserver to host the Data Modules/ s1000d XML files to have user management and content management.

The vendor gives s1000d files to OEM. If OEM has a CSDB studio server then IETP can be hosted on that server. Otherwise, it plays in a standalone machine as a Viewer.

OEM needs an S1000d author tool, commercially available off-the-shelf software to edit.

OEM must have an s1000d CSDB server to deploy s1000d files. If no CSDB Server is available then S1000d can still be viewed in Viewer without any Administration tools.

Common Source DataBase — CSDB

In S1000D Documentation, 2 software’s are used

Authoring Tool:

• It is like in simple words, MS word, where we write the content and put images, etc.

• IN MS word its .doc file, in S1000D, it’s XML Data Module.

• In this authoring tools we need to write content in S1000d defined XML Tags, so that all the documents designed by all the OEMs will be in the same lines across the globe.

CSDB SERVER

• This is server software that stores all the databases and also tracks versions and manages Data modules

• S1000D needs some codes so that every Data Module has a unique code.

• CSDB server creates these unique codes automatically.

• Helps in publishing IETMs, PDFs, and Source XML files

Major advantage of s1000d

• Let’s say each ship is built by has 50 OEMs and all 50 OEMs supply IETMS in different formats, then it will be difficult to maintain uniformity.

• If all 50 vendors give the end-user s1000d IETMs then all the IETMs will almost in a similar format.

• To achieve this, the end-user must have an S1000d CSDB server with them to host all the files received by various vendors.

• If Navy/IAF/Army do not have CSDB suit then, still they can run IETM, but a standalone version where no user management will be done by IETM Viewer.

• (User management will be done by end-users CSDB Local server which hosts all the data modules of various OEMs)

S1000D and its basic principle

Content or data produced following the standard is in Data Module

This data module is the smallest and self-contained content or data unit within a technical publication

A data module must have sense and meaning when viewed without any supporting data other than images and diagrams

These data modules will be stored and managed in CSDB, Common Source Database

Using this CSDB we can publish output in a page-oriented or Interactive Electronic Technical Manual

These Individual data modules are re-usable components and can be used repeatedly in an output.

Benefits of S1000d?

One of the greatest advantages of S1000D is

In JSG 0852 IETM, first, documentation has to be done in JSS 251 format, in MS word then IETM activity starts.

In S1000D, Separate documentation need not be done. Whatever we do in MS word will be done using s1000d Author software.

Once all the documentation is done, we can simply export them either as PDF or as IETM or XML files with Project manifest file so that these can be deployed in any other S1000d distribution servers/ CSDB studios of the end-user (Navy/IAF/Army)

Reusability of data hence reduces production cost

Standardization of data and naming conventions

Open source and non-proprietary

Good for legacy data conversion

Proper documentation and version control management

Zero printing cost and zero occupancies of space as no Hard copies are to be maintained. Achieved by reusing instead of recreating information each time it is required

Easily to maintain and distribute: Facilitates transfer of information and electronic output between systems very easily and conveniently

Multiple Vendor support

Fastest reference to operator or maintainer than traditional paper-based documents

Many different output forms can be generated from a single data source i.e. from CSDB we can generate IETM and also PDF format which can be used for printing if need be

Customized Output creation: Allows sub-sets of information to be generated to meet specific user needs and user levels.

According to MDL, Newwiee will next play the lead in a drama called Wan Wassana based on a novel by the same name. The synopsis says:

The story is about a stray man and a noble lady who treats him differently from the society around them. He ends up falling in love with her.

It will be for GMM One so I don’t have much hope it will be subbed. Though I will be crossing my fingers 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

New’s career seems on fire nowadays, he’s going from one lead role to the next! It makes me so happy, he deserves all the recognition he’s getting!

DefExpo Event and Theme

DefExpo India has become one of the largest events of its kind in the world for the last 10 years. The 10th edition of DefExpo is being held in Chennai from 11 to 14 April 2018 and there is tremendous response to the event. The location of the event is Tiruvidanthal, Kancheepuram district on the East Coast Road near Chennai.

DefExpo 2018 will, for the first time, project India’s Defence manufacturing capabilities to the world. This is reflected in the tagline for the Expo, ‘India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’. DefExpo 2018 will help brand India as a defence exporter of defence systems and components. While showcasing strengths of India’s substantial public sector, it will also uncover India’s growing private industry and spreading MSME base for components and sub-systems.

Participation

671 exhibitors have confirmed their space booking in DefExpo as on March 30, 2018. These include 517 Indian exhibitors and 154 international exhibitors. Nearly 15% of the total exhibition space has been booked by MSMEs.

Indian participation include majors like Tata, L&T, Kalyani, Bharat Forge, Mahindra, MKU, DRDO, HAL, BEL, BDL, BEML, MDL, GRSE, GSL, HSL, MIDHANI, Ordnance Factories, and many others.

Major international companies including Lockheed Martin, Boeing (USA), Saab (Sweden), Airbus, Rafael (France), Rosonboron Exports, United Shipbuilding (Russia), BAE Systems (UK), Sibat (Israel), Wartsila (Finland), Rhode and Schwarz (Germany) among many others.

47 official delegations from different countries have confirmed their participation in DefExpo as on March 30, 2018. 13 of these delegations are at Ministerial level. Several countries have large delegations with over 10 delegates showing tremendous interest in DefExpo 2018. Ministerial level delegations are from countries including USA, UK, Afghanistan, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy, Madagascar, Myanmar, Nepal, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Seychelles, Vietnam.

Details like name, age, gender, ID (Passport, Govt ID, Aadhar Card) are required to be entered online and a unique registration ID no. is generated. There will be live demonstration of large platforms and also flying display by HAL and IAF. Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold a press briefing after the live demonstration. Six parallel business seminars are planned on the day. These are being organized by industry associations and business chambers. Raksha Mantri would also be hosting a reception for the guests on the evening of 11 April 2018.

April 12: Formal Inauguration of the event will be held followed by live demonstration of Naval Systems, Aero Systems and Land Systems. Live Demonstration will be done for systems which are designed/built in India.

The show will be open for business visitors after the formal inauguration. Three business seminars are planned by industry associations/business chambers. There will be Night illumination of anchored Navy vessels which will be a visual delight from the coast.

The India Russia Military Industry Conference will be held on the sidelines of DefExpo 2018 at the venue. Over 100 Russian and over 200 Indian industry leaders are expected to participate. The India Russia Military Industry Conference is being coordinated by SIDM from industry side.

Indian Navy ships will be available for onboard viewing on Chennai harbour. The public interested in viewing these ships should carry their ID (Passport, Govt ID, Aadhar Card) proof and should not carry any baggage, water bottle, mobile or any eatables. They should approach Chennai port gate, from where they will be picked up and escorted to the ship and brought back.

There will be live demonstration of large platforms and also flying display by HAL and IAF at the DefExpo venue.

April 14: The DefExpo would be open for public. There will be live demonstration of large platforms and also flying display by HAL and IAF for appreciation by general public.

The Organisers and District administration have made arrangements for car parking on the southern and south west side of the venue in case visitors reach the venue in own cars and the parking can accommodate close to 3000.

Highlights of the event:

· A first of its kind National Level Open Challenge Competition– “Solution to Problem” – DefExpo 2018 for finding solutions to the defence related problems by Innovators, Students, Professionals, Participants and Foreign Nationals who are attending DefExpo – 2018.

· India Pavilion is being set up for the first time in DefExpo. The India Pavilion will showcase combined strength of India’s public sector and private sector in defence production.

· First ever combined live display of Naval, Aero and Land Systems at same venue.

· DefExpo Inaugural Ceremony will be webcast to live audiences in Indian Embassies across the world.

· DefExpo Inaugural Ceremony would also be webcast on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, etc.

· Two major international collaboration events are being held on the sidelines on DefExpo. These include:

· Joint Commission with South Korea on April 9, 2018 in Delhi

· Military-Industry Cooperation with Russia on April 13, 2018 at DefExpo Venue.

The DefExpo 2018 is being organized by Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. M/s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited are the main implementing agency. Full support is being received from Government of Tamil Nadu.

Theory of Love

Theory of Love is a Thai BL show based off of the novel of the same name by Jittirain. It cast OffGun as the main couple, with Earth Pirapat and White as the side couple.

Synopsis (Credit to MDL): Third is a filmology major and a member of the Savage Team along with his best friends Two, Bone, and Khai, but he has a secret. Third has been secretly in love with Khai for years. For three years he has kept his secret love in his heart, silently supporting and loving Khai while knowing there is absolutely no future between them since Khai is as straight as a streetlight pole and also an absolute player. To make matters worse, Khai has a "no dating friends" policy. How long can Third love Khai silently while watching Khai bring a different girl home every night? Third has tried to see Khai as just a friend. But has failed time and time again. Because as easy as it is to fall in love, to stop is just as hard. Maybe even harder. That is until Third learns a secret that breaks his heart completely. But when Third decides to stop, Khai decides to start.
