Theres also some bonus art of them when theyre younger, this series is going to feature a lot of flashbacks lol. Odettes colors are the one with the loose hair btw, she was initially blue but i tweaked it so shed resemble her mother more. 

Fawks and Estelle are pixies! magical attendants to the dragons. the dragons being the royal family hence the name lol. Fawks is a scholar and theyre actually pretty well known while Estelle is the bastard child of one of the five pixies families who keeps her pixie-ness a secret. 

Estelle, Faust, Odette and Lennox are major secondary characters. Estelle a sweet but often bumbling and prone to panic. shes also very very magical even for a pixie and is a force of nature whos often underestimated. She sticks to Kiara like glue and the pair are rarely apart. 

Faust is the fox spirit guardian of Kiara and Estelle. Self appointed big sister and auntie to Luri. Faust is a shapeshifter whos gender fluxtuates with their whims. He uses exclusively feminine referentials (auntie, sister, maam, lady) Faust us much older than he looks and is a fragment of another spirit that split into three and has a mysterious past, but thats neither here nor their. Faust is quite happy with their circus and the little family theyve made for themself and they are Luri's beloved bougie aunt. I havent had a chance to go in and change it but Faust is a gray/ silver fox not a red one

Odette is silas' younger sister as i mentioned and she, unlike silas, never cared to appease her parents. shes thought of as a stain on the family reputation due to her debaucherously lifestyle and materialistic nature. Shes thought to be one of the most beautiful women in the country, Just like her mother. However Odette is also a very strong person. Shes very loyal to the few in her circle and uses her beauty and influence as a weapon. She can be kind of off putting at time and has an odd sense of humor but shes kind at her core. She and Silas are very close, as the only ones who can truly understand what the other is dealing with and once she gets Luri in her sights she becomes the most doting aunt youve ever seen. she loves fashion and specifically buying and ordering custom dresses for Luri, whom she rightfully thinks is the cutest child shes ever met

Lennox is Silas' personal guard and best friend. his only healthy non-familial relationship besides Kiara. Lennox's mother was Silas' wet nurse and they were raised side by side. Lennox is loyal to a fault and is a big slab of beef. hes a himbo through and through and doesnt pick up on social cues well. Hes also an established warrior who helped silas take down those folks i mentioned in the other post. despite this hes a very silly guy who Luri warms up to quickly. He also has a weird quirk of referring to everybody besides his sister as sir, maam or lord. even silas who hes known his whole life is not exempt. Silas has told him time and time again its okay to call him by his name but lennox will not do it. he has a comically large sword, seemingly endless energy and a boisterous and friendly demeanor that makes him easy to get along with.

Students who complete the Summer Institute receive $3000 in summer research funds to support their dissertation proposal development. Congratulations to these outstanding SGISD students for their participation in this acclaimed TDPD Summer Institute!

Congratulations to SGISD PhD candidates, Lilo Altali, Dahalia Jackson, and Huentran Vo! All three students were selected to participate in this year's Transdisciplinary Dissertation Proposal Development (TDPD) Summer Institute program. Just 15 students from UMass Boston were selected from a large and highly competitive group of applicants.

During the TDPD Summer Institute, students conducted preliminary research to support their dissertation proposal development. The TDPD Summer Institute uses transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to help students develop competitive proposals for external funding, increase their support networks, and access career development guidance.

With Faculty Advisor Meghan Kallman, Wael (Lilo) Altali explored how the experiences of gig workers are shaped by gig platforms.

With Faculty Advisor Laura Bozeman, Dahalia Jackson developed her dissertation proposal about the experiences of African American adults with Diabetic Retinopathy in Massachusetts.

Also with Faculty Advisor Laura Bozeman, Huyentran Vo explored the determinant of time impact on the creation of accessible materials for students with print disabilities, specifically students with visual impairments.

EVA GREEN, TRASTORNO DE ESTRÉS POSTRAUMÁTICO.

Eva podía mantenerse sonriendo durante mucho más que tan sólo un par de minutos, hasta que la tragedia sucedió. De camino a casa, fue víctima de un brutal asalto que por un teléfono celular cobró la vida de su padre en un disparo. Desde ese entonces, todo en la vida de Eva se trata de temor. El pánico la azota muy a menudo, y la vívida imagen del cadáver de su padre la lleva a tener diferentes tipos de brotes de ira, entre otros, acompañados por el miedo que la lleva a volverse una persona completamente aislada y cerrada. Su familia, en total preocupación, la condujo a una consulta con un psiquiatra, descubriendo así que padecía de TEPT. Fue internada tras un ataque de pánico tan fuerte que acabó con su propia estabilidad, ocasionándole una grave herida en la parte posterior de la cabeza.

TAYLOR MOMSEN, DEPRESIÓN.

Testigo de cada pelea, siempre enredada en los problemas que sus padres tenían, Taylor comenzó a aislarse, encerrarse demasiado en sí. No pasaba demasiado tiempo acompañada, a excepción de su hermana menor, con quien compartía la mayor parte de su día. Pero todo cambió cuando el repentino divorcio de sus padres destruyó la poca estabilidad que entre ambas podían alcanzar. Alejadas por las diferencias que ahora había establecido la nueva custodia, Taylor ahora con su madre y la más pequeña bajo el régimen de su padre, la muchacha finalmente entró en depresión. Ninguna tiene la posibilidad de verse con la otra, debido a las severas condiciones que sobre las custodias se ciernen. Fue internada tras un posible intento de suicido al consumir pastillas para dormir desconsideradamente.

LILY COLLINS, TRASTORNO HISTRIÓNICO.

Al no poder integrarse en un grupo social durante la secundaria, Lily tuvo la necesidad de eliminar esa reputación de invisible que cernía sobre ella, y comenzar a brindarse un nuevo perfil para ser "alguien" para los demás. En su hogar no recibía la atención requerida, debido a que sus padres atravesaban fuertes dificultades económicas. Así que Lily comenzó a crear un nuevo perfil de sí misma, inventando historias trágicas acerca de su vida y procedencia que no eran ciertas en lo más mínimo, acabando en fuertes llantos y ataques de rabia en cuanto alguien la llamaba "mentirosa", metiéndose en problemas así con sus amistades y terminando en un casi absoluto aislamiento social. Fue diagnosticada con trastorno histriónico e internada tras ello debido a un fuerte llanto en vía pública que la llevó a presentar una actitud bastante violenta contra uno de sus compañeros de clase que realizó un comentario acerca de una de sus historias.

TAYLOR SWIFT, TRASTORNO OBSESIVO-COMPULSIVO.

Durante su adolescencia, Taylor padeció de una fractura expuesta que al no ser tratada de manera inmediata, contrajo una infección. Comenzaron entonces los médicos a cerrarla a la idea de que la infección acabaría con su pierna, y deberían amputarla. Al poco tiempo la muchacha logró recuperarse de la infección, y con los meses, la fractura. El impacto fue tan fuerte que Taylor comenzó a obsesionarse excesivamente con las heridas, por mucho más pequeñas que fueran, y así mismo, con que todo lo que estuviera completamente limpio por temor a contraer alguna otra infección. Fue diagnosticada e internada tras pasar tres días sin moverse para no ensuciar ni causarse alguna posible herida, sufriendo así de un cuadro grave de deshidratación y un problema cardíaco al ser hallada por sin familia y moverse rápidamente en un intento de evitar que estos ensuciaran su apartamento.

PLANTA B.

ED SHEERAN, ALCOHOLISMO.

Tras demasiadas dificultades laborales y diferentes problemas con sus familiares, en especial sus padres, Ed buscó despejarse junto a un grupo de amigos en un bar, un sábado por la noche. Bebieron hasta que perdieron la conciencia, y pronto esto se volvió algo de todos los fines de semana. A medida que pasaba el tiempo, Ed comenzó a asistir mucho más que sólo los fines de semana al bar.  Antes y después del trabajo, cada rato que tenía libre lo pasaba allí, bebiendo. Luego trasladó la bebida a su hogar, y no había momento en que estuviese ebrio. Lo despidieron del trabajo por inasistencia, y su familia comenzó a cortar la poca relación que tenía con el muchacho. Fue diagnosticado como alcohólico adicto e internado por sus mismos padres en cuanto el joven atentó contra ellos bajo pleno efecto del alcohol, en absoluta inconsciencia.

NIALL HORAN, SÍNDROME DE FRIGOLI.

En búsqueda de un traje elegante para asistir a la boda de su mejor amigo, en medio de la tienda, Niall creyó ver a un sujeto de oscura y corta melena, vestido de gala y ojos azules, los cuales estaban fijos en él. En un principio, creyó que el hombre lo había confundido con alguien más, así que prosiguió como si nada hubiese sucedido. Pero pronto, este hombre comenzó a estar presente en cada sitio al que él se dirigía. Cerca de su hogar, dentro de su oficina, en la calle... Su paranoia no tardó en volverse igual de frecuente que las apariciones del sujeto, y cayó en la conclusión de que era perseguido por aquel desconocido. Fue diagnosticado con Síndrome de Frigoli e internado para mantener bajo control los ataques de ansiedad del muchacho, así mismo para mantener en regla el tratamiento debido a que se resistía a consumir sus medicamentos porque según él, "no se hallaba alucinando nada"-

DENIS STOFF, ANOREXIA.

Durante el último año de la secundaria, Denis comenzó a ser apartado de su grupo de pares por el leve incremento en el peso que había ganado durante el receso de invierno. Denis se centraba desde entonces en su peso. Al principio, se permitió saltarse alguna que otra comida, pero con el transcurrir del tiempo, esto empeoró. Se saltaba cada comida, apenas si consumía alguna cosa durante el día, se pesaba cada al menos dos horas y le asqueaba la manera en que sus familiares se alimentaban. Fue diagnosticado con anorexia e internado tras evitar el proseguir con su tratamiento y ocultar sus píldoras bajo la mentira de que lo hacía cuando en realidad las vomitaba o escondía, decididos sus padres a que el muchacho sea vigilado para cumplir con el tratamiento.

MICAELA SUAREZ, TRASTORNO DE LA PERSONALIDAD DEPENDIENTE.

Micaela siempre tuvo dificultad para tomar decisiones importantes. En un principio sus padres pensaron que se trataba de la presión que esto conllevaba, pero pronto comenzó a hacerse esta "incapacidad" que Micaela presentaba también presente a la hora de hacer algo por sí sola. Necesitaba consejo para todo, inclusive lo más mínimo; nunca se encontraba en contra de nada ni nadie, no había una disconformidad por si parte ni mucho menos desacuerdo; temía excesivamente al hecho de quedarse sola, por lo que se aferraba a sus familiares incluso a la hora de dormir, acusándolos de que la abandonarían mientras descansaba. Fue diagnosticada con TDPD, y la única alternativa que su familia halló fue internarla debido a que, a causa de su dependencia, recibía demasiado maltrato emocional en torno a algunas relaciones o amistades, y no se oponía a lo que quisieran hacer con ella, por lo que sus padres temieron por su bienestar y buscaron tratamiento inmediato.

PLANTA C.

VERA FARMIGA, SÍNDROME DE LAS MÚLTIPLES PERSONALIDADES.

Vera fue internada y actualmente reside en la planta C del hospital, en aislamiento, tras ser diagnosticada con el trastorno de identidad disociativa luego de los testimonios de sus familiares y distintos pares acerca de que se presentaba de diferentes formas y actuaba muy paralelamente en cada una de ellas, completamente desentendida y amnésica sobre lo que sus otras personalidades hacían. Al momento, los terapeutas han descubierto que Vera posee tres personalidades: "Vera", "Tatiana", y "Alissa". Las últimas dos se conoces entre sí y mantienen conversaciones incluso delante de los psicólogos. Fue internada debido a que la personalidad "Tatiana" presenta un cuadro bastante complejo en delirios y sus familiares la han considerado demasiado peligrosa.

EMMA ROBERTS, PSICOPATÍA.

Emma fue internada y diagnosticada con psicopatía tras ser vinculada con al menos trece homicidios de los cuales diez se trataron de víctimas que eran completamente ajenas al sujeto y tres de su entorno familiar. Permanece en aislamiento en el bloque C del hospital debido al peligro que presenta su persona hacia los demás. No actúa de manera hostil, de hecho, es encantadora e incluso educada. Se desconoce completamente la causa de su trastorno y mucho menos el motivo por el cual cometió los asesinatos. Han sido cuatro los terapeutas que han renunciado al caso de Emma debido a que la calma de la joven a la hora de comentar acerca de alguna de las muertes, la indiferencia y la frialdad fueron completamente aterradoras para los profesionales. Se encuentra a la espera de un nuevo tratamiento y medicación que puedan hacer cambiar el objetivo que su mente haya fijado y acabar con las psicóticas ideas que se cree que conspira pero aún no se han descubierto.

LANA DEL REY, ESQUIZOFRENIA.

Comentaron los familiares de Lana que la muchacha había adquirido dificultades a la hora de dormir y su concentración en cuanto al trabajo era casi nula. Se hallaba la mayor parte del tiempo tensa, y bastante ajena a la realidad. Al principio, ella y su familia creyeron que se trataba del estrés a causa del trabajo; la mantención y control de una empresa Multinacional la volvía loca, pero todo empeoró, dicen, cuando la joven comenzó con los delirios. Decía que conspiraban contra su ser, oía y veía a gente que en realidad no se encontraba presente en un cuarto, su línea de pensamientos y reflexiones no tenían ni siquiera un orden, mantenía conversaciones completamente sola y se aislaba de los demás. La internaron finalmente sus familiares tras una visita al terapeuta y el terrible diagnóstico de esquizofrenia. Ningún profesional logró aún un progreso con la muchacha, que se encuentra en aislamiento en el bloque C del hospital a la espera de un nuevo tratamiento con el que proceder.

HARRY STYLES, SOCOPATÍA.

Harry fue internado tras una intensa charla con un terapeuta que acabó por diagnosticarlo con psicopatía. Se encuentra en el bloque C, aislamiento, debido al peligro que se cree que puede presentar hacia el resto de la sociedad. No tiene interés alguno en las clases sociales, las ganancias, los trabajos, las edades, nada que se vincule directamente con alguien que no se trate de sí mismo. Se cree que tiene un objetivo o fin por el cual estafó a más de diecinueve conocidos suyos, de los cuales tres acabaron desaparecidos y se cree que fue esto a causa de los tratados que mantenían con el sujeto. Se desconoce la causa de su trastorno, y se han retirado ya dos terapeutas a causa de lo difícil que es arrebatarle información y mantener una charla que no acabe de manera abstracta ni en la que no intente manipular a los profesionales indirectamente. Se encuentra a la espera de un nuevo procedimiento que lo lleve a una posible cura.

PERSONAL.

AHREN STRINGER, PSICOANALISTA.

Ahren se graduó en una universidad privada como psicoanalista a muy temprana edad, y ejerce actualmente su profesión en el hospital en torno a cualquier planta debido a que posee una habilidad excepcional según sus compañeros. Suele tratar los casos más recientes de internación, o que se han dado en los últimos días para intentar evitar que los demás terapeutas pierdan el hilo que llevan con casos de mayor dificultad. Es bastante bueno en su trabajo, y sus charlas y tratamientos lograron acabar con los problemas de diferentes pacientes abrumados en distintos niveles a causa de algunos trastornos.

GERARD WAY, PSIQUIATRA.

Ya con muchos años en el rubro, galardonado varias veces con honores en diferentes momentos de su vida y distintas etapas de su trabajo, Gerard es un psiquiatra bastante bueno, pero posee una pequeña cualidad que lo vuelve un tanto difícil: no acepta cualquier caso. Es un hombre que adora los desafíos, por lo tanto, requiere que sus pacientes se encuentren "a su altura" o podrá pasar, como diría él, a la siguiente sala. Esto no quita que a la hora de rendir fruto a su título como psiquiatra no haga honores del mismo, de hecho, es el orgullo que más ha dado a conocer su familia.

ZAYN MALIK, PSIQUIATRA.

Influenciado e inspirado por los sueños frustrados de su padre, Zayn estudió y se graduó tras arduo trabajo y noches de no dormir para acabar con sus libros y estudiar tanto como creía necesario para sus exámenes. Fue su padre, Yaser, quien se encargó de hallarle un trabajo, acabando por dar con el hospital, que tras una rápida y efectiva entrevista tomó al joven como uno de sus profesionales. Al haber ingresado recientemente al personal médico del hospital, aún no se le ha asignado ningún caso en específico debido a no conocer Zayn demasiado bien su "zona de confort", aunque se le ha aconsejado no intentar tratar con algo demasiado peligroso.

LOUIS TOMLINSON, PSICÓLOGO.

De buen carácter, serio y profesional, completamente dedicado al trabajo, Louis decidió estudiar psicología, y acabó por graduarse a una edad temprana con muy buenas calificaciones. Al principio, le fue difícil hallar un trabajo en torno a su título como psicólogo, pero tras el rumor de que un conocido hizo llegar a su madre de que había un hospital en el cual varios terapeutas habían abandonado labor, no dudó un segundo en realizar una entrevista de trabajo. Recibió una carta a modo de felicitación y firmó un contrato a los pocos días de esto. Tiene ya varios años de antigüedad entre el personal, y es un destacado miembro que generalmente guía a los recién llegados.

FRANK IERO, DOCTOR.

Graduado con honores, Frank ejerce como doctor, encargado de cirugías y en general de la disponibilidad de sus pares como así también de los medicamentos en el hospital. Posee varios años de antigüedad en el rubro. Se ha ganado cierto tipo de reconocimiento especial debido a que sus compañeros lo han visto ingresar un tanto miedo a la planta C a brindarles algunos medicamentos a los pacientes. Es considerado bastante bueno en su trabajo, por no decir el mejor, tras haber salvado a tres pacientes con graves heridas autoinflingidas en el transcurso de los años.

Luri has to navigate this new and quite odd world of nobles and etiquette while getting to know the father shes never met. Can she learn to get along with her dad and the rest of her new family and find her mother? only time will tell"

Left to right we have Kiara, Luri and Silas

Kiara is an orphan circus acrobat and singer. she lives with her found family and lives a nomadic lifestyle, traveling from city to city. Shes outgoing, confident, brave and strong. shes also quite impulsive and has a vengeful streak. shes fiercely protective of her people and especially of her beloved baby girl. Kiara and Silas courted in their teens and for a long time Kiara had no idea who Silas was. he was just some bashful but kind kid who she liked teasing and hey if you move all that hair out of his face hes kinda handsome. Kiara serves as a catalyst for Silas, where silas is a calming agent for Kiaras. She showed him how to be more confident in himself and to be proud of who he is and he taught her all sorts of magic and helped her tame her fiery temper. Even after she learned he was a prince, by that point the two were deeply attached to each other and neither could bear to break it off. it wasnt until Luri came around, (very accidentally) that they stopped seeing each other. She mises her partner but is very fulfilled as a mother to Luri and has a support system through her found family that keeps her happy and sane through the whole single parent thing. 

Luri is the daughter of silas and Kiara. shes a curious and sweet but very skittish child. to be fair though, shes only five and still figuring things out. She lived nomadically with her mother for the first fopur years of her life. traveling from place to place in  a caravan with the rest of the carnies who all treated her as a beloved daughter or niece. She got to see lots of things and she loves seeing her mom and aunties perform. She loved exploring in the woods and collecting her own littler treasures. Luri knows nothing of silas but everything of her mother. She thinks the absolute world of her mother as most children too and struggles a lot without her. Shres a fish out of water in the palace environment and it doesnt help that Shes absolutely terrified of Silas.  Silas is the eldest child of the current queen and king and the crowne prince. as he is now, in his mid twenties, Silas is a cunning and wise prince with a tactical mind and a reputation for brutally destroying a group of terrorists who threatened to harm the nation. Hes also got resting bitch face and tends to come off as intimidating due to his large stature but this is all a wall he puts up. Silas is actually a very nervous person whos dying for genuine connection and companionship. Neither of his parent gave him much of their time when he was young, and every time he met somebody they usually just wanted something out of him. In his late teens Silas was a scrawny, almost mousey and skittish person who stayed buried in his books, isolated and was considered an embarrassment. he turned all of this around in terms of his public image but hes still the same person on the inside. He wants nothing more than to be a good father to luri but he doesnt exactly haver the best role model and the little thing is too scared to even speak in front of him. whats a guy to do? 

These three are our protagonists, Luri and Silas being the more prominent characters out of the three since kiara is currently missing but theres a whole host of other characters im cooking up too. keep an eye out > : 3

i'd like to say that i just bought my ticket to see Alice in Chains in Sao Paulo next month!!! OMG! i'm so excited! this will be my second time seeing them live, but this is so much better than last time, because now it's an AIC concert only! last time i saw them at a festival and it was AMAZING. i can only imagine that this will be even MORE amazing! also, new songs this time! *-*

ohh a bunch of stuff 

1-3: Dragon stuff. figuring out how i want them to look and keeping the shapes simple. out of all the dragons in this story, Once Luri figures out her transformation shes the one who spends the most time as a dragon. Silas is a close second but only in very private settings. Dragons are considered divine creatures in this world, and when the royal family shows off their draconic features its considered a power play or intimidation tactic. The royal family actsa very human publicly but theyre a lot more draconian behind closed doors.  4: Estelle visual development. i wanted a magical girl sort of look. Shes eventually going to be a high mage and i wanted to experiment with her look. her symbolic shape is a four pointed star. Cliché? maybe. but shes so pretty  5 and 7: Faust visual development. putting a fox silhouette on a human person. they have forehead markings as well, very akin to meph and moll from wolfwalkers.  6: Odette and Luri sketch 8: Odettes intimidating way of introducing herself to her niece. cmon Odette shes five stop scaring her

GISD PhD Students to Attend Summer Institute

We want to congratulate GISD PhD students Dawn Anderson, Ashley Lazarre, and Matt McClellan. They’ve been accepted to UMass Boston’s 2020 Transdisciplinary Dissertation Proposal Development Summer Institute.

Ashley’s work focuses on the intersection of resiliency and resistance regarding the post-disaster response in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Ashley shared, “Given the current climate of disasters in the world, my research is a timely study to assess the impact of disaster responses in communities of color. My research approach is transdisciplinary with three areas of focus: collective trauma, activism, and policy development … I look forward to fostering connections for mentorship, co-authorship, training, and funding on campus and beyond.”

Dawn’s research focus is on using public history and multicultural education to empower and engage vulnerable communities. She said of the summer institute, “Being accepted into the TDPD program was wonderful news. Although I am grateful to receive some financial support for my research, I’m more excited about spending the next several months with peers from other areas who are at a similar place in their academic pursuits.”

Matt’s doctoral work has focused on the inclusion of LGBTQ+ students in higher education. He said, “I am really excited for this opportunity. I think in these difficult times it is nice to still have positive news! The summer institute will help keep me motivated to complete my dissertation proposal and dive into the dissertation process.”

This program will provide various trainings and workshops, funding to support independent summer research, and participation in a fall research symposium.

Congrats to these three students on being selected for this competitive opportunity!
