The way T'Lyn clearly just filed away Boimler and Rutherford's explanation of the Mark Twain simulation in her head like "ah, so this is how humans resolve conflicts", absolutely insane
You're telling me Lower Decks did a "fake relationship to get a couples discount" storyline?
And the pairing didn't get together at the end of it or "realise their true feelings" afterwards?
In fact it actually helped them to realise that they work better platonically and they like each other more as friends?
Is such a thing even possible?
Fr though, I'm really glad that we're four seasons into a series with two prominent m/f friendships in a franchise which has handled straight pairings really badly in the past (Worf/Troi, Chakotay/Seven, etc), and the series has just... refused to ship those involved or try to force any romantic tension. It's a breath of fresh air.
If you remember Ma'ah is basically a more successful klingon Boimler then it totally makes sense that Mariner just hugs and browbeats him into friendship and totally ignores he wants to continue their fight.

"Vrek and Gem (the Romulan and Ferengi we see work together in The Inner Fight) are the most interesting new potential pairing to come out of Lower Decks season 4. They were the only ones from different crews working together before Mariner arrived despite the fact their species aren't exactly on friendly terms (or friendly in general) and their dynamic has the exact energy tumblr loves. The only reason people aren't invested in them is the absolute doozy of a season finale overshadowing everything that happened in the previous episode."
I'm genuinely very glad that Orion was a girls trip so we could get some Tendi development and Orion world building without it being over shadowed by Boimler and Rutherford trying to avoid pheromones or whatever. I think the writers made a good call on that.
It is interesting to me though that in the interest of keeping Orion culture episodes more Tendi focused (as they should be!) the writers have essentially created a situation where Mariner knows way more about Tendi's species, home life, and family than Boimler or Rutherford. She's been in two Orion cultural spaces now, and the closest either of the boys have gotten to that was Rutherford meeting Mesk on Deep Space Nine.
I know there are clear pragmatic reasons for this, but I'd also like to think that maybe Tendi trusts Mariner to understand complicated family stuff a little better sense she knows what Beckett's relationship with Carol is like. Idk, the idea that Tendi has chosen to trust Mariner (and now T'Lyn) with this vulnerable part of herself when she won't even fully share it with Rutherford is both cute and interesting to me. I would love to see it explored more.
Right after season 4 of Lower Decks first started, I tried to post something I noticed in retrospect about the trailer but it never showed up to the rest of the Trek fandom because I was in the middle of a shadow ban that had been mistakenly imposed on me automatically by Tumblr. Here are some screencaps from the season 4 trailer. Take a careful look.
Okay, did you notice something significant?
The trailer shows them all still as ensigns! Mike McMahan must have noticed in the past how the Trek fandom is able to glean details from the trailers. And I'm guessing he told the people responsible for creating the season 4 trailer to edit out the fact that the characters are now lieutenant j.g.'s so as to avoid spoilers. I love that. So many trailers for movies and shows these days give away important details.
I'm not sure why this stuck with me, but I really liked that Malok, the Romulan mutineer, had no problem with the Bynars beaming onto his ship when they realized Locarno was lying about them all being equals. If any of them show up again, I hope they're still working together.
