Happy Friday! A chilly, but a beautiful sun is shining today here in London ☀️Hope you are having a great time whenever you are! And if you happen to be in London Old Maps Library is at Southbank Centre Winter Market with our unique old maps! We would love to see you there ❤️ ⏳ Old Maps Library specialises in the reprint of Vintage Maps and Illustrations between the 17th to 19th centuries. 🔎 Our prints are linen backed by hand, this technique gives it more durability and a beautiful vintage finish look. ⏳Linen backing is a technique that mapmakers used in the past as a solution to keep the maps stronger for long journeys and weather changes. 🔎Nowadays, this technique is an important conservation method for restoring and preserving vintage maps and posters. ⏳Our maps are folded and fitted into a marbled slipcase. ⏳ Are you also fascinated by old maps? ⏳ "Travel back to moments in time and discover the world heritage!" Xmas market @ the South Bank
Christmas lights are going up, it’s getting really rather chilly and xmas carols are being played; it’s all another way of saying that it’s beginning to look a lot like Xmas. Another sure sign is that Xmas markets are popping up all over the place, including t the South Bank.
There’s a weekend food market at the South Bank that’s still going on with a lot of great food stalls but the festive stuff is all on the river side.
The Xmas trees are up as well on the balcony outside the Royal Festival Hall.
These two were my favourite of the lot, celebrating gin and lobster! :)
The walkway between the food market and the riverside, all lit up with that Xmas feeling.
The carousel set up by the river.
Rekorderlig Cider have sponsored a big Xmas festival thing with food and drink and fairground games.
As you can imagine, the biggest building of the lot is dedicated to a big Rekorderlig Cider Lodge where you can warm up with some cider.
The centrepiece is this massive tree. As you can see, the place is pretty rammed!
No Xmas market would be complete without a chocolate fountain and this place has 2 huge ones! With a massive array of fruit and treats to dip into, it’s pretty awesome!
Walking under Waterloo bridge, there are 2 rows of xmas stalls selling an array of arts and festive crafts.
The view back up at those Xmas trees outside the Royal Festival Hall.
The famous (or infamous) South Bank Skate Park. They’re still petitioning for it not to be shut down and moved. IN the meantime though, it’s going strong.
They’ve also set up these “igloos” along the South Bank this year where you can have drinks or dinner. I’m not sure I really see the appeal of this, you’re essentially sitting in a bubble in the middle of the walkway but I guess it is a pretty spectacular view while eating.
I’ve always liked the South Bank and still do. It does get crazy crowded but it’s a great place to grab some food and some drink if you are looking to enjoy the festive spirit.

Cheers, JL
